Guest Reviews

- Julio Cesar (10/5): Hotel excelente. - Es un hotel muy bonito con un personal que te ayuda en lo que necesitas. Está muy bien ubicado. Si volviese a Nosy Be, repetiría sin dudarlo. Recomiendo este alojamiento.
- KONSTANTINOS (6/5): A Disgraceful Owner - Location Owner's bad attitude: Future travelers, please check pics 1 to 4. The story is that I left the country earlier due to health problems, I politely asked for refund of the missed nights of my staying, owner was hiding the day of my early check out, so we were communicating via the staff. I was asked to give him (Benjamin) my personal phone number so he would contact me... which he never did! I was given a free taxi ride... so, instead of getting 3x38=114€ I was "spared" 23€ for the airport transfer! Really, the worst thing was this guy's way of expressing (I was even accused of blackmailing!)... it shows a bottom quality of a human being. So, future travellers... choose wisely where to stay in Nosy Be!
Too many mosquitoes in the room
No Fridge in the room.
Noise from renovations inside the property.

- Kathryn (10/5): Hotel Benjamin Joy! - A family run hotel in the prime spot in Ambatolaka. Close to the beach local bars and shops. A nice clean room and balcony overlooking a lush botanical garden created by Benjamin to show some of the beautiful and exotic plants of madagascar.
Benjamin the owner is very kind and likes to spread awareness of madagascara ecology. Tina, the manager, is an absolute star. Her local knowledge is priceless, and she helped me so much with everything from trips to food to what prices are. Everything I needed, she helped every step of the way. Perfect for a lone woman traveller to have this angel helping and supporting!! Nights can be loud due to the hustle ans bustle of Ambatoloka. But this is such a good central location and therefore to be expected.
- Berat (1/5): Worst experience evet - Worst hotel ever Worst hotel evet
- László (10/5): Exceptional - Enviroment Close to the Taxi Be.
Therefore to loud the night until 2-3 am.
- Mikhail (9/5): Beatutiful place during a day with own nuances at night - Beautiful garden,

Im sure in the future the place will be updated.

- Martin (10/5): Amazing - Excellent place, comfortable, super attentive staff, they help you plan excursions and what places to visit, one of the best in Nosy Be

- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Дмитрий (8/5): Very good - Good location.good staff Wifi not work in room.the curtains are translucent when the light is on. there is no door to the toilet and the curtain is also translucent. there is no TV and refrigerator
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional - Hotel Benjamin's location is perfect - within short walking distance of the beach, and all the cafes, restaurants, shopping, and money exchanges that you will ever need. Yet, when you enter through the gates you immediately experience a peaceful oasis, with cabins nestled amongst the well maintained gardens brimming with tropical flora. It is a sanctuary, away from the hustle and bustle, all by itself.
My cabin equally fit right in with the outdoors area, very charming and kept very clean throughout my stay. It was well ventilated, assisted by a ceiling fan, and the bed had the necessary mosquito netting. Overall it was very comfortable and private and met all of my needs perfectly.
Most important of all was that Benjamin's assistance was above and beyond what you would normally expect. He went out of his way to help me with any problems and is full of good information, from the various tours to local prices. Something very handy was that I rented a motorbike directly from him, meaning that I had confidence it was a fair deal, and that I could return it directly to the hotel saving a stack of time.
This hotel could easily be renamed the "Hotel of Smiles". Indeed, Benjamin and the whole staff fill the hotel with smiles every day and their courteous and pleasant demeanour made my visit all the more enjoyable. A huge thank you to all!
I highly recommend Hotel Benjamin.
- Jaume (10/5): Exceptional -

- BobN833 (8/5): 50 meters from everything - A nice little spot just off the southern end of Ambatoloaka. The manager, Benjamin, is a really nice, accommodating guy.
The rooms are quite cute and the WiFi is ok. It's stronger on the side of the of the grounds the office is on.
Be patient with the hot water, it takes a while!
- ddda2016 (2/5): Forget réservation /old hotel - Dark alley not look sage, street broken. You have to wear your suitcase the wheel cannot work.
The place have mosquitoes and when arrive in reception they forgot my reservation.... And just say "sorry I can recommend some hotels!! "
- yasarsbilgi (6/5): Visit - Very friendly owner, good to be a friends. ask anything you get, Very nice location, safe and friendly stuff and comfy bed relaxing area, I recommend to everyone. any info ask and get strait away and trust. no mosquitos, well in my time. I have been beaten at other places.
- sosake (8/5): Nice hotel - We spent 4 nights at Benjamin Hotel. It is a nice, calm hotel near to the beach and the village. The personnel was polite, cleaning was done daily. Hot water was every evening. I heard a little bit of noise from the bars in the village in the evenings, but I was always so tired that I feld asleep in a minute...
- 974_reunionisland (10/5): Holidays at Nosy Be - After reading previous reviews, we can say Benjamin heard all your suggestions.
Benjamin welcomed us very well, he gave us really good advises and he was always here to help.
Benjamin made all the investment (personal and material) to satisfy all of your needs.
The room was nice, cleaning was done daily.
Large bed very comfortable with a mosquito net.
A safe was provided and a locker but you can bring your one locker.
The hotel is well located just a minute from the Main Street and far enough not to be bothered by the noise of the city.
There is a very nice garden daily maintained.
The staff is very polite and reliable. They always smile and take well of the guests.
Thank you all for this wonderful time.

- simporta (6/5): Aging property - The location is quite good, close to the main restaurants area in Ambatoulouka, still away from the noise of the nightlife - you can sleep. Price is affordable and negotiable. The large bungalow is great for a family - 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a huge terrace with a wonderful bay view. Smaller 1-room bungalows are basic but good for singles/couples. The area is green. Parking is available on the compound. The owner/manager - Benjamin - is a very pleasant young man, he can show you around and speaks English which is quite rare in the area. The hotel needs renovation and proper cleaning, though. However, it's a good alternative to staying in a standard hotel.
- Chinzabubu (2/5): Hotel Benjamin Nosy Be >>> The end of the dream, the beginning of a nightmare - I had a awful experience (nightmare) at the Benjamin Hotel last week (first decade of October 2007).
Me and my friend went at the Benjamin Hotel after staying one night at the Fishing Club.
We met “LE PATRON” Mr. Armand and we agreed with him for 70000 Ar (about 29 €) per night without breakfast.
We saw that in the room there was a safe-deposit box and the hotel provided a combination lock.
Stupidly, we went out for dinner and we put in the safe-deposit box all the money (515 € part in local currency and part in Euro) and our documents and we closed it with my own 3 digits combination. We locked bungalow door and we went to the restaurant happy to find a nice place.
After coming home we found bungalow door regularly locked and we noticed the guardian was not there. But we didn’t suspect anything. There was anything strange !!!!
We remained in the veranda for one hour talk. Than we went to sleep. The day after as soon as I woke up I reached breakfast room and housekeeper gave me my passport. She said she founded it on the ground at 6.00 AM.
Immediately I realized that the passport was locked with the money in the safe-deposit box and I immediately run up to the safe-deposit box. The lock I set up at 8.00 PM the day before was not there, it disappeared; the safe-deposit box was open and all the money, documents and other souvenirs stolen. No lock and not metal powder on the ground !!!! And the bungalow door locked !!! Mmmmmmhhh very strange !!!!!!!!!!!!
I felt immediately angry and I contacted Mr. Armand. We were literally cleaned in his hotel where somebody entered in our bungalow, opened the lock with all the calm, stole the money and finally closed the door. We are in front of “Arsenio Lupin !!!!!!!”. Or something more simple and stupid ??? And obvious !!!!
Anyway, after 1 hr, we met Mr. Armand at the police station, after I called him. There was a policeman at the police station, who seemed to know Mr. Armand, that asked us what happened. We declared that all our money was stolen in the room and we had not money. Mr. Armand said he had to send us out of the hotel because we had not money to pay and we had a debt with him of 70000 Ar.
After that, he disappeared and we reached another policeman where we compiled a theft declaration. After that, we went with the policeman to the hotel. Obviously Mr. Armand was not there, he arrived after 1 hour with its motorcycle. He repeated we had to get out from the hotel ASAP and we had to pay him. We start quarrelling with “LE PATRON” in front of the police and the policeman invited him to stay calm.
Then Mr. Armand offered us the possibility to stay in his hotel without paying until Sunday when we had the plane to leave to Italy. But I felt not sure there something in the theft dynamic gave me really bad sensation.
The day after a malagasy guide, Italian speaking (Michelino), accompanied a couple of French to the hotel and I told him what happened. Immediately he departed with this couple and Mr. Armand come to me to say:
- I cannot terrify with my history his potential clients;
- I have to leave the Benjamin Hotel immediately;
- He declared we were layers and we invented we were stolen to avoid to pay him !!!!!!
- He threaten us first to be beaten by him (Tu veux faire le karaté !!!); then he called his guardian (6-7) and he threatened us to cut our gorge if we tried to fight him
I immediately leaved the hotel but I promised him to do all the best advertisement to his dirty and tricky enterprise. There is an open investigation about our theft even if the police let us to know we had small chances to find something bad.
