Plus they provide free shuttle to go center town, the breakfast is great and generous, the decorations were beautiful, the pool was very clean and large enough to swim. I strongly recommand this hotel! Only downside: pillows were a little firm to my taste.

• Fabrice (10/5): Endroit exceptionnel - Magnifique guesthouse où tout est pensé pour que votre séjour soit le plus agréable possible. Les bungalows se trouvent dans un cadre enchanteur au milieu d’un jardin entretenu avec soin. Le personnel est très prévenant et toujours là pour vous rendre service (navette gratuite pour vous conduire en centre ville ou à l’aéroport, lessive incluse, serviettes si vous allez vous baigner à la cascade Kuang si etc). Je ne peux que recommander cette adresse et si je dois retourner à Luang Prabang je n’irai pas voir ailleurs.
• Stuart (10/5): - We stayed for 5 nights in a riverside bungalow which was peaceful and relaxing. It was slightly away from the noise of town but easily within walking distance. We also cycled on free bikes and there is a shuttle bus in and out of town. The owner and staff were excellent and friendly and helped us organise trips andd transfers. Breakfast was great and we had a lovely stay, thank you

• Andreas (10/5): Oase in Luang Prabang - Absolute Oase, wunderschöner Garten, toller Bungalow, sehr freundlich, prima Frühstück- wird serviert, schöner Pool Beste Unterkunft unserer Reise. Zwar etwas außerhalb, gibt aber einen Shuttle, auch Fahrräder und zum laufen geht es auch.
• regina (10/5): - This guesthouse shines on service. Airport transfer and pickup were a breeze. They take the time to nicely greet you and check you in, giving you all the details. Daily shuttle in and out of main area of town is great. The pool was well kept and quiet (though, like so many in south east Asia, very cold). We had a river view bungalow. It was mostly clean, as much so as wooden rooms like these with gaps in the wall can be. But they provide mosquito nets. No TV. Breakfast is good and plenty with various options. If you want a break, feel free to use their kitchen (cashew chicken gets two thumbs up and yellow curry was good too). It is fresh and on probably better for the price than anything you will get a food stall in town for same cost. Dinner for three was about $12 USD. They do not advertise it, but they were glad to use their daily shuttle to drop us at our next guesthouse in Luang Prabang. I found I had forgotten my Nalgene water bottle in the mini fridge and called them to ask about it, and they brought it on the shuttle so I could pick it up that evening when they dropped hotel guests in the city. That was HIGHLY appreciated. They provide one bottle of drinking water per guest, and have a drinking water refill station. The beds were ok - not great but not the worst in SEA. We had a triple room, a king bed and two singles. The singles were incredibly soft to the point it felt like you might roll off and the king was a bit too hard. Goldilocks again :) Thanks Thonbay!

Le personnel est aux petits soins pour vous faciliter votre séjour. La piscine permet de se détendre après les journées de visites. Les navettes du centre ville facilitent les déplacements mais autrement il faut compter 20' à pied.

The manager, T, was wonderful, always providing helpful suggestions and helping to arrange transportation to local venues. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would love to go back.

Meals are delivered to your bungalow (or elsewhere if you choose) & the food is delicious. The breakfast was great. The shuttle to & from downtown is very convenient & runs on schedule. The grounds are lovely. The bungalows are spacious. The floorboards do creak some but that didn’t affect our enjoyment.

• Dennis (10/5): - We really liked our stay at Thongbay Guesthouse which offers great value for money. The bungalows are nicely arranged in a beautiful, lush tropical garden and have everything you need. Breakfast is served on your own private balcony and guests can also have dinner, which is very decent. The staff and management are impeccably nice and helpful with every question their guest might have. The only downturn we experienced was the temple festival and a wedding nearby with extremely loud music / prayers / Chorals and or karaoke. That has cost us 2 nights of proper rest. Make sure to bring earplugs! Anyway: we fully recommend the place !
• Søren (10/5): Amazing place - Thongbay is a very beautiful and cosy place in Luang Prabang. We enjoyed everything about it; the view from our terrasse, the garden, getting breakfast served on your own balcony and most of all the smiling service from everybody at the guest house. Please notice, that Thongbay is outside Luang Prabang city center. They do have shuttle service and it's easy to go back and forth, but if you prefer the convenience of staying in the center of town, You have to choose otherwise. Only one little downside; the beds were too hard for our taste. We didn't sleep that well.

• Donald ian george (10/5): - This property is made up of detached wooden bungalows with Verandahs. The staff are excellent and breakfast is served on your own verandah each morning. They have bicycles and motorcycles for hire if you want to explore the local area or you can relax by the pool. The staff could not do enough for you and I would highly recommend Thongbay to anyone visiting Luang Prabang. 10 out of 10!
• Deborah (10/5): Glorious tropical garden residences - Gloriously verdant. An oasis of nature with views across the river. The individual 'bubgalows' are well sized, with a verandah. A hearty and generous breakfast arrived to my table, at the appointed hour. This is a place for a writer on a mission. Perfectly appointed to stay focussed. There is a large pool too. And really convenient transportation regularly throughout the day to reach 'town' in 7 or 8 minutes.

• Meredith (10/5): Friendly helpful staff - The manager Mr. Thy and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. He booked an all day tour for us that I recommend. The free shuttle to town was convenient. He helped us to buy train tickets to Vang Vieng. You have a choice for daily breakfast that was very nice. The night we arrived they had a Christmas party with free food and drinks for guests. Only downside to stay was water for the shower and was not very hot.

Air conditioning & Wi-Fi strong. Quite a walk into town but the walk was good for us. Thongbay has scheduled shuttles into town and pickup times. Check with Mr. Thy and his stuff, and he will help and explain all you need to know about Luang Prabang. Very gracious and helpful. Nothing like breakfast on the balcony!

Some bungalows have river views, but there’s a sheltered sitting area for other guests to enjoy the view. Breakfast was amazing and served to you on the bungalow verandah. The guesthouse is about 20-30 mins walk from the old city, but the guesthouse runs a free shuttle there and back several times a day. Staff welcoming, helpful and friendly. Great pool. We’ve had a three-week trip travelling in Laos and Northern Thailand and this is easily the best place we’ve stayed. Very reasonably priced too. Just perfect.

• James (8/5): Overall nice but could use some improvements - The location of the guest house is slightly outside the main town. They have shuttle service in the morning and later in the day which we made use of. Didn't really like the garden view rooms. The floor boards had huge holes allowing mosquito and insects to come in and the fixtures and overall decor were also far from the price we paid. There was also no noise insulation. There is a tiny mirror in the bathroom which my husband and I couldn't both see our faces depending on the location of the mirror. I asked the staff if they had bigger mirrors in any other room and the guy flat out lied to me and said no. Apart from that the staff was really good. Especially the women at the desk. She helped us with restaurant reservations and was always there to help with a smile. We upgraded to the river view room which was great. I highly recommend paying extra and going for his room type. The floors didn't have holes, the fixtures were better and there was a slightly bigger mirror and the overall vibe was better. The breakfast was fantastic. Suggest they add a few more options for shuttle in the afternoon and install full length mirror.
• Karen (10/5): The best place I’ve stayed! - Fabulous! This is a family owned place with great service, friendly and helpful staff, a great ambiance, and a superb breakfast. They have free bikes, and a shuttle into town (which would be a 20 minute walk). It is in a quiet neighborhood, so gelato for sleeping. The bungalows are in a wonderful garden. We upgraded to a river view, but I’m sure the garden view rooms are also great. Each has a balcony/porch. Breakfast is delivered to the balcony or to a terrace overlooking the river, at a time you specify. They have put in a new pool across the street - it looks pristine (but we didn’t have time to go in it). This place is great!
• Samantha (10/5): Amazing - Amazing stay; staff greeted us with welcome drinks and brownies on arrival. The room was beautiful, as were the gardens. Lots of different areas to sit and enjoy a meal. The breakfast platter was a feast! And the free shuttle into town meant that the location was not an issue. Also, we didn’t have a chance to enjoy the pool but it looked like a lovely place for a swim.
• Ruth (10/5): Absolutely superb hotel - This hotel is simply superb. The accommodation is lovely and spotlessly clean. Gardens, grounds, swimming pool kept immaculate. The service is second to none, staff are so helpful and anticipate your every need. Little extras like breakfast in room, free airport transfer, taxi service to and from town really make a difference. They arrange massage and tours too at competitive prices. We ate at the hotel a couple of times, the food was excellent and very cheap. It is by far the best value hotel we have ever stayed in and we travel a lot. Overall excellent.
• Anne (10/5): Would return in a heartbeat! - Thong Bay was an amazing choice. Situated 5 mins outside of town was no problem as they had a van that went often to the night market as well as free bikes. They picked us up and dropped us at the airport. The gardens are immaculate complete with a fish pond, sitting areas both in the garden and views of the river. Breakfast was served on your porch at the time you choose. I was injured and my partner got sick while on our visit. The staff were attentive with genuine concern bringing Tea and vitamin water. I can't say enough about the staff (Leun,Lieu, Lyun Lun, Gai I think thats how you spell their names!) Everyone was amazing, professional and helped with trips,engaged in conversation (if you wanted to) and were knowledgable about the area.We felt a friendship develop and would definitely return. The only downside was that the Wifi wasn't the best, but that was ok as I read/painted more. We are in our mid 50's and early 60's so we didn't stay out late, being able to watch a movie in the room would have been nice but it's ok, definitely not complaining. Grateful for being able to travel; seeing the poverty was difficult. We always felt safe but there is a locked cabinet for your passport and valuables. The beds were softer than in Thailand! When we wanted to change rooms there was no problem.(Our room was next to the kitchen and a bit noisier than others.) I would highly recommend this Guesthouse, and would return in a heartbeat.
• David (10/5): Wonderful stay. Excellent staff - Hotel was wonderful. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is wonderful. Our room was comfortable, and the guesthouse felt secure.The pool is very nice. It is located a little bit away from the main part of town, but we walked there a couple of times and it was not bad, which would have been even easier with the bicycles (free to rent) or guest house shuttle (free transportation at set times). Staff is helpful arranging plans/activities. I highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Courtesy bus into town, mornings and evenings. Free bike hire, and Whan (spelling?) on reception was very helpful.

Great shuttle bus service into town, as it is situated a little bit further out of town which we really liked. And free bikes which we used to head in early to see the alms giving. Overall a very relaxed and enjoyable stay, would wholeheartedly recommend.

• Tremayne (10/5): Peace & tranquility just out of town with a Pool - From the minute I was picked up with free transfer at the airport until check out the staff were impeccable. Really conhesive team who organized tours for me, provided their free bikes to ride to town, sorted my laundry and even let me be the 1st guest to swim in the not yet officially opened pool, that’s right they have a pool. I usually like to be in the center of town so was hesitant to book this but the appeal of being in a river bungalow was too strong of a pull. I’m super happy with my decision, I’m not young or fit but the bike ride to town was easy and really enjoyable, there are regular shuttles in their comfortable cars into town if you prefer. The peace and tranquility of the location was just what I needed after a hectic time in Saigon. Breakfast was average and plentiful but it’s free so I’m not complaining, and they deliver it to your balcony when you request, slip out of bed to soak in the morning view of the Nam Khan River with fresh warm baguette. It really was a treat staying with this team.

• Carol (10/5): Best place to stay in Luang Prabang - We stayed for four nights in a sweet bungalow with a garden view. The property and gardens were beautiful, overlooking the Mekong River and with several lovely outdoor places to sit and enjoy the serene setting.The staff were attentive, friendly, and kind. Breakfasts were delicious and could be delivered to our room or to outdoor dining areas--at a time that we could specify each day. A shuttle service was available to deliver guests to and from the town center, or the airport. One day, the shuttle took me to a clinic in town for medical attention! I appreciated the opportunity to talk with the staff at the desk or in the shuttle, and to learn about Laotian culture and the special features of Luang Prabang from them. Of all the places that we stayed during a 6 week trip in SE Asia, Thongbay was my favorite.

• Remy (10/5): Wonderful stay - The guest house is lovely, we got the view on the Mekong river, the room was very clean. The guest house has a lovely garden. On top on this it is very well located. The staff is amazing. highly recommend. 100% satisfied. perfect location to got to the Kuang Si waterfall. directly rent the motorbike from the hotel, value for money and very good motorbike.

Loved that they would serve us our scrumptious breakfast on our balcony overlooking the river, and delicious dinner that we ordered at the restaurant. Shuttles to town and airport....free.

• Alison (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer! - Our stay at Thongbay Guesthouse was wonderful. Our garden bungalow was spacious and comfortable. The bed was enormous and the room itself smelled like freshly washed laundry. The breakfasts were fantastic (so much food!) and really set us up for our days of wandering about. We loved sitting on our balcony in the morning, taking our time to eat our breakfast and chatting - something we generally don't spend enough time doing. If you are mobility impaired, don't worry about having to sit on the floor for breakfast - there are chairs and tables dotted all around the property. The staff are outstanding - so welcoming and helpful. We were grateful for the tip to go to the Kuang Si Falls early - we managed to have about two hours there without the hordes and counted around 100 minivans heading in that direction as we headed back to Luang Prabang. The Thongbay is slightly off the beaten path but that was what sold it to us in the first place. It is within walking distance to Luang Prabang town centre and there is a regular shuttle. Note that there are no televisions in the bungalows but don't let this dissuade you from staying at this wonderful guesthouse - just download some entertainment.

• Kenneth (10/5): Fantastic Hotel !!! - I can only give this hotel a 10. The ambience Of Thongbay is phenomenal. Our room was on the river with a private balcony. Breakfast is served every morning on the balcony at the exact time you request. The breakfast is fantastic as well. The owners were very personable and always so accommodating. We asked for a late checkout and they agreed right away. Will certainly return on our next trip to Laos.
