Guest Reviews
- Sunny (8/5): Had a nice short break, Shanklin is lovely and the Q Hotel provided all that I needed to have a relaxing stay. - The property was clean, beautifully decorated both inside and out. Really nice atmosphere and cosy room! Downstairs reception areas and bar all stylishly decorated. Really nice dining room with a good selection of breakfast options and again beautifully decorated. The staff were exceptional, always willing to help, were friendly and conversational. Some areas of room need TLC, scuff marks, light over the sink would be helpful in a dark room, small shower room but needs a bit of an update. But overall good with a pool in back.
- Leanne (10/5): Love it and will definitely be back - The staff was amazing, very clean and the decor was lovely, breakfast was lovely while worth the money .very welcoming ,Gail and her team could not do enough for you especially Ewan what a great guy . Nothing really it was just a little cold in are room but they did supply a heater.
- Arnoldas (10/5): - Nice cosy hotel
- Bert (6/5): Ol - Erg klein, m.n. douche/toilet. Dat kan echt niet.
Beetje klunzige gastheer. Matig onderhouden.
- Julia (8/5): - Staff were excellent. Even let us check in early. Hotel was quirky. Would definitely like to return.

- Filipa Maria (7/5): Nice staff hotel - Location, nice staff hotel Room too small for a single person.
No breakfast
- Deborah (8/5): We would return as it's a lovely friendly family run hotel. - Lovely full English breakfast offered with fresh fruit, yogurt & pastries available too.
Staff from check-in to departure were very helpful and chatty. The owners have made a huge improvement to the hotel, are on site and very hands on. We didn't find the bed the most comfortable sadly.
- Leonard (6/5): Probably stay in Arbn next time - Nice building and lawns Toilet had no sink, you had to go back into bedroom to get to sink , which didn’t seem very hygienic! Cups and tops of units still had tea marks and sink was dirty. Shower very small my husband couldn’t use.
- Kurt (9/5): -
- Clare (8/5): -
- Nicole (3/5): Would not recommend to anyone - Cleanliness Shower was a trickle to the extent of being unusable; most lights in the bedroom did not work; bathroom light did not work; no shelf/ space to leave toiletries in the bathroom; extremely cramped room; room was not cleaned on the second day, we emptied our bin ourselves
- Kathan (8/5): -
- Kristi-lee (2/5): disappointing, with poor cleanliness, broken facilities, and a complete lack of the basic comfort and standards we expec - Quirky decor of the Hotel and friendly staff. • No working shower in either the original or replacement room
• Forced to attend dinner unwashed after an 18-mile walk
• Room extremely dirty (dust, cobwebs, unpleasant smell)
• Poor maintenance (unfinished wallpaper, unsafe-looking electrics with extension leads)
• Advertised facilities (pool, sauna, jacuzzi) not available
• Insufficient towels provided and not replaced daily as stated
• No hand towels provided
• No on-site breakfast or early food options for hikers
• General cleanliness of hotel very poor (stairs and communal areas not cleaned)
• Overall condition far below expected standards
- Mariusz (10/5): -
- Wendy (4/5): Never going back - It was clean , woman at reception was friendly Could not get tv to work on first night
Room was small
Paint was peeling off it looked tired
I never saw our room
Advertised on the website if I had I would have never booked false advertising , room was dark , hated the colour found it depressing
It was wierd as no one was around
- Anita (1/5): -
- Michael (7/5): -
- Quellan (6/5): Fair enough but slightly disappointed when compared to previous visit. - Down stairs decorating quirky. Breakfast ok, Good location, Bar staff friendly Poor lighting in the bedroom , couldn’t get Tv to work ,and way too big for the room. Complained about dirty bedding and receptionist came and had a look. The duvet cover had a brown stain and black scuff mark on bottom, the pillow case was a dirty looking scuff mark . She said that it had been professionally cleaned . She also said the bedding had definitely been changed by her. Even if it had been cleaned if it was still dirty it should not have been used. There was also a very long black hair on the pillow , partner bold and I have short blond hair. !!! She was very offish…. But the bedding was changed later in the day. We have stayed here before and been happy with the accommodation. Disappointed you no longer have an evening restaurant but we can understand.
- Clare (7/5): -
- Yun (1/5): Horrible - We have stayed in this hotel for a few hours and were kicked out by them Change the owner
- Sharon (7/5): -
- ROBERT AND CAROLINE (9/5): One of the best and most relaxing holidays we have had in many a year. - The location was very good as it was well placed for the town centre, beach and restaurant facilities in Shanklin.
The breakfasts were excellent at the hotel. All of the staff were genuinely friendly and most helpful. They really made a very good holiday an excellent holiday. Perhaps we were just lucky. We enjoyed everything. The people on the Island were a joy and so was the Island.
- Pam (8/5): accessible location was a good place to explore the island by bus. - The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good with a wide range of choices. Beds were comfortable. The sitting room and bar area were good for guests to gather in the evening. One of the rooms was quite small for a double room, if a single bed was there instead it would give more space to move around and for clothes storage.

Breakfast was a good full english with a choice of criossants cereal, yoghurt, fruit juice, tea and coffee . We would reccomend a stay if you get a chance. Location excellent few mins from sea front. There wasnt anything we didnt like !
- Patricia Isabel (9/5): - El personal super atento y amable. Fuimos en temporada baja pero aún así nos ofrecieron la opción de utilizar el jacuzzi y la sauna. El desayuno fue increíble está todo buenísimo! 😋 El colchón era algo viejo y por ello un poco incómodo
- Nigel (10/5): Really comfortable and fun hotel with friendly staff :) - We loved the breakfast, the staff were really friendly and really helpful, we thought the room was lovely and we loved the quirky decor. Adored the sauna and hot tub to use, especially as we had them to ourselves! Just the water pressure on the shower - that is literally it…. But we did tell staff about this at the time and they advised this is a wider problem. We really enjoyed the big bath :)
- Rakesh (1/5): Never come back again here. - Only The hotel was good, Not the Room. The bathroom is broken doesn't close, There is no tissue to use there is no service of anything after 7,There is no hot water tub and the tub was dirty. One of the worst hotels no view nothing.
- tayla (10/5): -
- Sanders (8/5): On the whole a pleasant experience. - Breakfast room was very nicely presented and the food was very good and plentiful, the hotel was very quiet but that was to be expected for the time of year The bed was very firm, and the shower was very small and the water flow was quite feeble.
- EVELYN (8/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect night away before my sons driving test on the island.( He passed!) - Location, lobby and seating/bar are and comfortable bed Bathroom was too small
- Gareth (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Fantastic x - We had a wonderful time it was a family run hotel everyone was friendly staff for lovely and it was dog friendly and just adults which is fantastic when you just wanna break. I’ll give it a 10 out of 10. We liked everything about the property. The people were lovely very close to the beach. I would recommend it to everyone 👍
- Kevin (1/5): Do not recommend. - Really bad experience. Wish I would have read the other reviews first Dirty, run down and messy
- Natalie (9/5): A Real Gem! - Lovely hot tub, brilliant bar area. Really loved all of the decoration. Walkable distance to everything. Only downside was noisy plumbing in the bedroom and general sound insulation. Shower also a bit cramped. But still a brilliant stay.
- Grant (9/5): - Mmay thanks.
- Emma (7/5): -
- Lara (9/5): Great hotel, great decor, comfortable stay, well stocked bar and great staff. - Great stay at The Q Hotel, staff were very welcoming and friendly. Rooms are well decorated and the bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was lovely and we will definitely be returning.
- Howard (8/5): Great hotel for our short stay on the Isle of Wight. - Great central location near to see and Shanklin town. No problems with parking. Staff were great and kindly posted on to me an item which I had left behind in the room. Swimming pool looked lovely, although we didn't try it. Great breakfast. Quirky decor which made us smile. Room was rather small and bathroom in need of an update.
- Richard (10/5): Excellent value for money. A really pleasant hotel. People are lovely. - Excellent breakfast. Great value for money overall.
- Doreen (10/5): - The owners were very friendly. It is a beautiful small hotel. Breakfast was very good served in a lovely dining room.
You could not see the sea. Itvwas close to Shanklin town.
I would certainly recommend it.
- Carol (6/5): - The décor in the hotel was quirky but good.
Staff very nice and helpful.
The breakfast was good. Comfortable bed. If you are an early riser the WiFi is not switched on nor is the hot water till about 6 o'clock. Shower screen very dirty.
Steamer Inn, Shanklin on sea front had a very nice menu, go down in the lift and it's on the right.
- Trevina (5/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Great hotel, friendly staff, def recommend - The hotel is definitely a bit quirky! I loved the style of the hotel, it’s a perfect base in walking distance of Shanklin Old Village and the beach and the staff are really incredibly friendly and nothing is too much trouble, I def recommend a stay here and I will be back at some point 😊 The bathroom is a bit dated but I’m talking with the owners, the hotel has undergone refurbishment since they’ve had it for the last couple of years. The bathrooms are next on their list, so not anything I didn’t like as they were perfectly functional and good to hear they will be updated soon.
- Helen (9/5): A great one night stay with friends. - Good location, easy parking, very good bar and breakfast, friendly staff. We had a great stay. Rooms were dark and shower area was small, but it was fine for one night.
- Richard (10/5): - The hotel was a lovely boutique hotel and we had a lovely stay. Highly recommended
- Jill (7/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely facilities downstairs and a well stocked bar. Pool, sauna and hot tub - nice extra touches. Breakfast was really good Parking was difficult at times. Not much information available on how to use the television, recommendations for restaurants, odd damp smell just outside and inside our room - needs looking in to.
- mandeep (3/5): -
- Lynn (10/5): -
- penry (8/5): Very nice - Very convenient for the theatre and beach All good
- Simon (9/5): -
- Macpherson (8/5): -
- Michael (8/5): - Lovely staff and hotel. No impressed with bedroom
- Royston (3/5): - Location and the main hotel was decorated well Our room was decorated poorly bathroom needs updating and water pressure very poor showers was usles and toilet seat hanging off
- Andrew (10/5): - What a nice place staff were brilliant all the public areas are really nice funky artwork nice decor and the room was pretty cool too decent shower nice towels b and o tv nice big comfy bed good soft linen curtains that shut out all the light quiet at night and best of all Yorkshire tea bags cheers guys will be back
- Julian (6/5): - Breakfast too expensive and no choice staff friendly but the shower was very poor with low pressure and hard to operate almost impossible to wash your hair bathroom as a whole not massively clean room a bit small with no chair comfortable bed and good facilities
- Eamon (8/5): - The staff were very friendly. The bar area was very welcoming and encouraged guests to mingle. The bed was comfortable however the shower and toilet facilities need upgraded throughout. The gardens and pool area are of good size but need maintaining. The star attractions are the breakfast which was splendid and the location is ideal for all amenities
- Kendall (8/5): - Lounge area and breakfast were lovely Rooms needed a good clean and update. Shower was cold or took around 20 mins before it was warm.
- Mikhail (8/5): - Bed was very comfortable, recently done up bedrooms so felt fresh. Staff were great. Breakfast was made to order and cooked well. The lounge/bar area was very nice and very comfortable to spend time in. Location was brilliant, ample parking space. Short walk to the shops or the beach It felt as if the whole building was recently renovated but the bathroom was forgotten about. I understand my bathroom was very small and it is difficult to fit everything in however it is strange to have a sink and a vanity mirror next to the bed. Also to still use off colour toilets/basins like it's still the 90s was a questionable choice.
- GARY (9/5): -
- Kaye (6/5): Not so good - On first sight everything looked great. Funky interior in seating area near bar etc. Our room however was not up to scratch. Leftover hairs in the corners of the bathroom. Headboard and lamps not been Hoovered or dusted. Spray from other people's toothbrush not been cleaned on walls near sink. I told housekeeping and they did come to rectify however not the toothpaste spray or to my overall satisfaction. There was also a long hair wrapped in the toast holder at breakfast.
- Maciej (8/5): -
- paul (10/5): - Really nice hotel great facilities and in a great location would recommend
- Martyn (7/5): It was pleasant, - The decor throughout was very good. Very comfy bed Dated bathroom, dated tv. Nowhere for food of an evening.
- rigby (10/5): A perfect break in a lovely hotel. - The staff were very friendly and always helpful. I'd love to return for another holiday. The breakfast was perfect for us.The hotel was exactly in the perfect place walking distance to shops and seafront. The hotel was most comfortable.
- Ray (3/5): - Nothing very poor Reception looks the part, no information information at reception. Taken to room very small, again made to look good on surface with a big tv taking up so much space. The bathroom was very basic looks like it's not been touched maybe new flooring very badly fitted.went to have a shower and water was no more than a trickle. Told reception and was told we could use shower by the pool ,to late at this point.wont be recommending to anyone.
- Marshall (7/5): Overall a very pleasant stay, fabulous staff - Brerakfast great, Location perfect, Staff very friendly. Bath very nice. Pool excellent Shower would have been better if not just an attachment. Would have preferred a small desk space in the room. Evening restaurant would be good
- Victoria (9/5): -
- Sophie (10/5): Cosy, warm and welcoming great hotel - Cosy, warm and welcoming. Loved the boutique style decor. Our room had a sea view and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Great English breakfast served daily with good choice. Brilliant location and very quiet at night, the owners were always on hand to make sure our stay was catered for. Staff were lovely too very friendly and helpful. We would recommend, loved Shanklin and would stay again. Tibby our pet pouch loved it too especially a sausage for breakfast. Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Absolutely amazing - The Q Hotel was absolutely wonderful! The place was very comfortable, stylishly decorated with beautiful pictures on the walls, and everything smelled fresh and inviting. The staff were truly amazing, friendly, professional, and always helpful. Overall, everything about the hotel exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended! Only small downside was a slightly longer check-in, but it was negligible and everything else was perfect.
- Suki (6/5): A good base to visit the Isle of white. - the location was very good. Short drive to the beach and even shorter to the high street.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely hot tub and great to have towels provided at no extra charge. Interesting and eclectic decor in the communal areas. Not enough parking spaces for quests. the standard rooms that we stayed in needed maintenance. The rooms were dusty in a number of areas when we arrived and were not cleaned thoroughly while we were there. Breakfast was tasty and varied but expensive,
- Coleman (8/5): -
- Coleman (8/5): A breath of fresh air !! - The pool and hot tub were superb, very clean and great seating area.
Communal areas are breathtaking.
Very pleasant staff, offered assistance with luggage as disabled which meant a great deal to us.
Would happily revisit.
- Tony (8/5): - Really enjoyable and pleasant stay. The staffs were friendly and accommodation
- peter (8/5): - On arrival I had a Hassle free check-in the staff were friendly yet professional. The room was very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you needed. The the breakfast was excellent with a good choice. There was a comfortable well stocked bar. The hotel has it's own heated outdoor pool with plenty of seating around the pool. It was close to the centre of Shanklin only 6 minutes walk and the cliff lift that takes you down to the beach was only 3 minutes away.
- Charlie (7/5): - Pool facilities were amazing and staff were really lovely Room 18 was unbearable hot and needs AC not a small fan as there’s no ventilation. It’s also quite dingy as the main light isn’t a task bulb.
- Carolyn (3/5): Disappointment - Location Our room was far too small for 2 adults and a large dog, and the ventilation was insufficient, one small window and a small fan, we were told there were no more rooms available.
- kerrigan (6/5): - No entertainment, poor parking, no lighting at side by fire escape , no seating in room, TV left outside room.
