It's a lot larger than I imagined and there is a nice range of activities to do around the resort, all of which are relaxing. The food, sensational. The service, excellent! The ocean view villas are stunning, spacious and private. I look forward to a rain Forrest villa next time as the pool may be a little cooler and have more protection during the day in the canopy of the Forrest and not in the direct sun. The ocean view villa pools are quite exposed and little respite from the sun, something to be aware of.

Die Villa am Meer hat all unsere Erwartungen übertroffen und ließ mit ihrer hervorragenden Ausstattung keine Wünsche offen. Das gesamte Resort ist wunderschön gestaltet, und auch die Tiere – insbesondere die Affen – haben den Aufenthalt zu etwas ganz Besonderem gemacht. Alles war jederzeit sehr sauber und äußerst gepflegt. Das Frühstück war absolut herausragend und bot eine beeindruckend große Auswahl an verschiedensten Speisen. Darüber hinaus haben wir in allen Restaurants des Resorts gegessen und können jedes einzelne uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Vollkommen perfekt wurde unser Aufenthalt durch das gesamte Personal, das uns mit außergewöhnlicher Freundlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit begegnet ist. Ein ganz besonderer Dank gilt unserem Butler Fazly, der unseren Aufenthalt unvergesslich gemacht hat. Unser Honeymoon war ein absoluter Traum – herzlichen Dank an das gesamte Team! Es war alles perfekt!

Mark (10/5): Perfect over water villas! - Lovely interiors for both apartment and villas. Overwater villas are perfectly designed. Better than ones in maldives. Recommend booking villa if you can stretch to it. Staff perfect. Compared to four seasons and datai less flow as you walk through the resort. Walking to breakfast is a pleasure for the other two. Get a buggy if going from your villa.

PATRICK (9/5): Fantastique - L’emplacement est exceptionnel offrant une magnifique vue sur la mer. La chambre était splendide, confortable et décorée avec goût. Le personnel est souriant et très attentionné. Un grand merci à Julien qui travaillait au restaurant l’Horizon pour son professionnalisme, sa gentillesse et son efficacité. Le petit-déjeuner était exceptionnel et les repas étaient excellents. Nous recommandons vivement cet hôtel.

Ebtehal (1/5): Not a 5 stars level - I recently stayed at the resort for 4 nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far below expectations due to a serious issue with the air conditioning in my room. On the 24th, I reported to the front office that the AC was not working properly. I was told the issue had been fixed, but the next day (25th), the situation remained unchanged. I reported it again and specifically requested that an engineer check the unit while I was present in the room. An engineer did arrive around 10 PM and measured the room temperature at 23°C, even though the thermostat was set to 18°C. He claimed to have fixed the issue and advised it would take 15–30 minutes to cool down. However, there was no improvement at all. Considering this was at night, you can imagine how uncomfortable the room must have been during the daytime. The problem persisted for the remainder of my stay. In fact, on the morning of my checkout at 7 AM, a staff member who came to collect my luggage even commented that the room felt hot. What is most frustrating is that after I checked out, I received an email from the hotel apologizing and stating that “immediate action” had been taken based on my feedback. This raises a serious question: why was this urgency not shown during the three nights I was actively reporting the issue? Instead of enjoying my room, I ended up spending my afternoons in the spa just to escape the heat and find a comfortable environment. This experience was extremely disappointing, especially for a property that claims to be a 5-star resort. I hope management takes guest concerns more seriously in the future and ensures timely and effective resolution of such basic issues.
Jibraan (7/5): Average - We loved the beach and the Spa, one of the best we have gone to so far For the price that you are paying, the service was extremely lackluster, the restaurants and food were above average. If the service improves, then perhaps the overall stay would have been amazing.

Special thanks to our butler Anas! This young and dedicated to his work man made our staying there special and valuable, starting from welcome day till end of our journey 24/7. This man really amazed me and my family.

Maybe the hotel should direct more people and improving the breakfast at this place. - nice service. - great bath amenities. - amazing cleaning service by our house cleaner Mr Khadga. Thank you!! Everyday was perfect clean and the bug issues previously refered were not due to lack of cleanliness but to lack of building or sewer isolation. - Jenie and Fan were also top notch staff!! In the end this a resort with a lot going for it and a lot going against it and lots of things could be improved.. (beach area, pools area much bigger, more activities, better decor, rooms renovation..). Luxury is in the details, and details are just not here.. at least for now... Negatives: - some ants and even a coackroach was found on the bathroom. This is an isolation or poor repelent condition that should be improved. - condition bathroom - broken tiles, rusty finishes, dirty outside windows. - main pool crazy white paint dissolving in the water. Main pool layout very cramped and not elegant. - horizon bar should be totally renovated. Ugly decor. - better plants layout to cover some areas. - lack of complementary activities. By the third day everyone was bored. - very bad smell in the reception lobby due to strange plant scent selection in this area. - bed very soft - breakfast repetitive. Big lines to enter breakfast ate pick hours. Egg station lacking quality every single day! Fruit station lacking options and most unripe everytime. Too much focus on curries recipes. - buggies taking too long and not well distributed through the property. - beach grill decor lacking and not elegant. - library with few books. - sewer smell around horizon bar backwards.
Jenna Shardha (10/5): A true paradise escape! - This hotel really is everything and more. From arrival, right through to checkout, the place and the staff totally exceeded our expectations. We were warmly welcomed on arrival with a drink and snacks, and then taken to our room via buggy. The room was decorated for our honeymoon, which was a lovely touch. And wow, the room- gorgeous! and it wasn't even one of the suites! The room was cleaned daily and kind, sweet touches were left. The facilities at the hotel are great. We used the gym and the adults pool which were great! The grounds are kept immaculate. The private beach is stunning and we hired out paddle boards for a reasonable price. Kayaks also available. The spa was also a lovely treat. The breakfast was superb- so much choice from the buffet, but also an option to order from a menu. Just watch out for those cheeky monkeys who like to steal your food!! The choice of restaurants and food options is fab, and the sunsets from Horizon, beach grill and Hai yan are really special. The staff at The Ritz Carlton really can't do enough for you, and nothing is too much trouble. The service was excellent and we can't recommend this place enough! A truly special place that we will always remember.

The infinity pool, beach, restaurants, and bars were all superb, but what truly set the property apart was the staff. Their warmth, professionalism, and incredible attention to detail made our stay unforgettable. The room could have benefited from the use of deodorisers or a fresher scent. Aside from this small detail, everything else met or exceeded our expectations.

Viacheslav (5/5): Beautiful resort, but the service consistency and room maintenance were far below Ritz-Carlton standards for the price — - Great setting and beautiful grounds surrounded by nature. The gym was excellent and open 24/7. Food was generally good and the pool bar was enjoyable We experienced constant issues with the rooms (111/112). In room 111 something broke almost every day: AC not working, then the TV, then a water/tap issue, which meant repeated late maintenance visits. Before departure, room 112 had a non-working phone, making it hard to contact reception/buggy service. Despite these repeated problems, there was no meaningful service recovery (no upgrade/compensation). The assigned butler (Nargis) was not proactive: no direct contact, no check-ins, no help with bookings, and late check-out was initially treated as potentially chargeable even though our transfer was at 15:00. Sunbeds were limited (often difficult to find loungers at the adults’ pool) and breakfast could be crowded with queues

Overall, everything was perfect, and our 3night stay away from the busy city provided a truly relaxing and fulfilling vacation. Thanks Overall, our stay was satisfactory. However, there was an incident where housekeeping was cleaning our villa and I waited outside by the pool during the process. After the cleaning was completed, the glass door was locked without informing me. This caused some inconvenience for me, as I had to proceed to the reception area (abit far from our villa) to request a room key card since my phone was left inside the villa.

UniversalExporter (10/5): Beautiful resort in a spectacular location - This is a gorgeous resort built and integrated within a rainforest (said to be 10 million years old). All the rooms/suites are contained within 10 separate low rise buildings spread throughout the resort rather than concentrated into a single main building. And there are around 25 standalone villas. The effect is quite spectacular: it feels like living in a traditional Malay rural kampong (village) albeit a very luxurious one. Being in the rainforest, there is some wildlife: the most common being squirrels, macaques, dusky leaf monkeys, and hornbills. All are generally harmless though - it does mean you have to keep the doors/windows to your accommodation closed at all times to prevent any from getting in. The beach and pools face south-west and the sunsets are jaw-dropping. There are 4 dining venues in the resort combined with 2 bars (one at each pool). Staff and service are outstanding and I'll give special shout outs to: Farhan, Danial, Rizal and Freddie (Beach Grill). Farhan makes the greatest teh tarik and I had several enjoyable conversations with him during my stay. Qistina (Langkawi Kitchen). She manages the waiting staff at the main restaurant and is super sharp and attentive with service. Ling Lee and Shana (Horizon Bar). Ling has a gift for remembering guests' names and their preferences e.g. which sun loungers they like, how spicy they take their food, their favourite drinks/cocktails. An absolute star of the hospitality industry. Given there are relatively few rooms/villas, there are never too many guests throughout the resort, and an atmosphere of peace and tranquility is generally present all over. Definitely worth a visit if you've not been there before and worth a revisit if you have.

GlobalNomad68 (10/5): Exceptional service and attention to detail - even for demanding travelers - We recently spent a week at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. The Horizon restaurant and pool area are exceptionally well run, with flawless, genuinely attentive service. Bartender Alif deserves special mention for his creative cocktails - the Hornbill presentation is spectacular - while Ling Lee consistently ensures smooth and attentive service. The sunset views from the bar are among the best imaginable. The adjacent pool area is a wonderfully relaxing space, with complimentary chilled fruits, juices, and sunscreen in various SPF levels regularly offered. Hai Yan restaurant is visually beautiful, but both service and food did not fully justify the higher-end pricing. Several wines listed were unavailable, and while the food was tasty, the portions and overall quality were comparable to a standard Chinese restaurant in a major city. The butler service via WhatsApp is excellent, with near-instant responses 24/7 and a genuine one-stop solution for any request, whether from bed or poolside. Housekeeping was excellent throughout and clearly a strong team effort. Several attendants looked after our room during the week, all to a consistently high standard. One particular mention goes to Khadga, whose thoughtful gestures - such as leaving a bookmark on a book we were reading or providing cable organizers without being asked - stood out. This level of care was clearly shared across the entire housekeeping team. Breakfast is excellent, with an opulent buffet of Western and Asian dishes complemented by an inclusive à la carte menu. The villas include a generously stocked minibar with beer, juices, cider, chocolate, and snacks (complimentary except wine and champagne), restocked daily. The beach is very clean, and buggy transport around the resort is efficient and easy to use - particularly helpful given that distances can vary depending on the location of your room or villa. The spa is calm and well maintained, offering both a sauna and a steam room, as well as a relaxation area with water and juices after treatments. While the sauna lacks a traditional heater with stones, the overall spa experience remains very pleasant. Massages are highly professional - special mention to Gue for both skill and a genuinely customer-centric attitude. The resort’s senior leaders, Ramy (Resort Manager) and Mafalda (General Manager), are visible and engaged throughout the property, actively supervising quality and interacting with guests. Our family has traveled extensively across all continents (except Antarctica), and I have spent an average of around 100 nights per year in five-star hotels for over 30 years. We are therefore very picky travelers - and after a full week here, we genuinely struggled to find anything to criticize. A beautifully run resort with impeccable service, cleanliness, and landscaping. We would return without hesitation.

Celebrating our daughter’s birthday on site, we have been spoilt by each restaurant & bar making the day special. But the extras …. So much cake, room treats - from chocolate to prosecco. Gift for two of our party for their onward travels. In general they think of everything you’ll need and top that with the treats and luxury you hadn’t thought of … just outstanding. We will be back and probably sooner than we even expected. 888Pets (10/5): A paradise!! - We stayed here for 3 nights, from star to finish the stay was fantastic. Checked in privately and given a refreshing drink and cloth. The lady who checked us in was a student from the Hotelschool the Hague and did a good job of making us feel comfortable. My husband is a platinum elite member from the Marriott and asked if there was an upgrade which there wasn’t. For some reason it was taking a bit longer to get us checked in so we went to ask what the hold up was, apparently something was wrong with the aircon in the room we had booked so they upgraded us to a junior suite and also gave us complimentary lunch while we waited for our room to be ready. This was great news! We went for lunch and we were so pleasantly surprised. Food was amazing, views to die for. Service was impeccable! When we were done with lunch we were called a buggy and we could go to our room. Wow is all that needs to be said!! From start to finish our stay was amazing, the pool staff, the service in and around the room. Nothing was too much! This is a paradise! Monkeys and nature everywhere. The only thing lacking was the amount of chairs at the pool, but it wasn’t a disappointment as we didn’t have to wait long. We were also given fruits and drinks at the pool. Staff also knew us by our first name from day 1. You don’t need sunscreen as this was provided by the pool. The only down point i have to say is the temp staff that was working by the restaurant next to the pool, the lady that was there for a few months for her internship, she wasn’t happy and complained about how she was being treated and how little pay she got, not thinking that the locals were getting paid little too, not thinking on how she could make the most of her stay there. All in all we absolutely loved this experience and would come back any day! Thank you to this hotel and staff.

If you’re deciding between this property and The St. Regis, Langkawi… RC is where you want to be. And it’s not even close. The team is respectful and would never compare themselves to another resort in the Marriott family…but they should know they’re a cut above the rest! Now onto the full review: Stayed here for New Year, after a stint at The St. Regis. We absolutely adore The Ritz-Carlton brand of resorts after several stays at The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands. We wanted to try a new destination and this place did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel like “guests of honor” throughout our stay. We arrived with high expectations, but were not sure if they’d be met. Special thanks to Ramy, Hasan, Kartik, Chef Moreno, Intiqam, Mustaqim, and Sara, who made our visit unforgettable. The property is situated within a lush rainforest, and felt extremely secluded and disconnected from the outside world. This single detail was crucial in enhancing our stay. This thoughtfully curated setting contrasted beautifully with other nearby properties we visited, which lacked the same immersive experience. The food was another highlight: delicious and authentic. We especially appreciated the breakfast offerings and the in-room coffee and tea service, which were excellent touches. The New Year’s Eve fireworks show was spectacular. While our stay was exceptional, there are a few small areas for improvement that could make it even better next time: 1. Mocktail Options: As frequent travelers to Muslim-majority countries, we’d love to see more creative non-alcoholic beverage options on the menu. 2. Event Pricing for Non-Drinkers: A package option for events, such as New Year’s Eve, that excludes alcohol and focuses on mocktails would be a great addition for non-drinkers or those with dietary restrictions. 3. Pest Control: While we understand that staying in a rainforest comes with its share of nature, more proactive pest management around villas and restaurants would have been great. 4. Room Key Bracelets: Adding unique bracelets for room keys could elevate the resort’s convenience and charm. Overall, The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi is an excellent property and the better choice as far as Marriott resorts are concerned

cavs (10/5): 20th Wedding Anniversary - My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with our two teenage boys. We stayed in an ocean villa with pool and the boys had a twin room looking out at the rainforest. There is one word to describe the hotel and its staff - faultless! The hotel and setting is absolutely stunning and we were very pleased with our villa accommodation - so much so, we only left it to go out for breakfast and dinner! The boys were able to join us there to hang out by the pool. Each and every member of staff was so friendly, helpful and welcoming - and we were addressed by our names throughout the stay - a personalised level of customer service which we’ve never experienced before. Above everything, I would say this is what stands the hotel apart. We ate at three of the four restaurants and the food was excellent! Our favourite was the beach grill, just edging to the top due to its beautiful setting overlooking the water. I would highly recommend the RC Langkawi - and we sincerely hope to be able to visit again one day.

We splurged on a beach villa and it didn't disappoint. The views will take your breath away and you'll be immersed in nature without sacrificing on luxury. During our stay, we felt so privileged to see dolphins, sea otters, the giant monitor lizard, long tailed macaques, dusky leaf monkies and hornbills. Another highpoint was the horizon pool, bar and restaurant. We witnessed the MOST INCREDIBLE sunsets, and would like to offer a shout out to Ling-Lee, who went above and beyond to accommodate us - thank you! Overall, the customer service was exceptional. Probably, the best we've ever experienced. We're already plotting our return, this was an unforgettable trip!

Smithy200 (10/5): Highly recommended stay in Langkawi - Amazing stay with family. Stayed for 4 nights in a beach villa , the room and the pool were very good! The pool was very decent size for a villa and the view of the beach was nice. Breakfast was good in Langkawi kitchen and dinner around all the restaurants was good. The best had to be Hai Yan. Great wildlife- was lucky to see Asian water monitor lizard , dolphins , dusky leaf monkeys and hornbills! Arranged a mangrove tour through the hotel which was good. Only point of feedback vs previous Ritz Carlton stays was the personalised experience. Normally staff get to know kids and family which adds to experience but that not really happen here. Having said that the staff were always super nice and friendly.
