- Gregory (8/5): - Check-in was great. Everything clearly and efficiently explained. We were even escorted to our room. For an old building, they have a great tiny lift that can carry luggage/one person (without luggage!) to the higher floors (3 stories about ground level). Floors are a bit creaky and some of the steps are uneven. Nevertheless it was quiet at night. Wonderful garden and courtyard. Helpful staff. Good mid-town location with easy parking. Definitely need a car in the area (e.g. if you’re planning a Mont Saint-Michel trip (about 12 minutes drive away). Recommended 🙂

- Leslie (8/5): Nice stay. - Check-in was very accommodating as we arrived early. They allowed is to drop off our luggage a d then gave us a room key in case we were late getting back to the hotel after touring. The room was nice. Weird “showering” in a bathtub. There was an elevator there unlike one I’ve seen or used before (see photo.) Reception was a little late for our check out but we were still in time for our train.
- Heather (10/5): - Our room had a nice outside patio that was quiet and private. The bar is nice and quiet. The room was exceptionally clean and the hosts were kind and accommodating to us non-French speakers.
- Rachel (10/5): - We very much enjoyed staying at Hotel Victor Hugo. We went to see Mt. Saint Michel for the day, and coming back to the hotel was such a a relaxing treat. We had challenges with arriving to check in, we got there earlier than 4 PM. I highly recommend contacting the property a day ahead of time to make sure someone can be there if you have to drop off your bags before official check in. Otherwise, you would have to wait to check in at 4:00. The rooms were amazing! Very clean and very comfortable. I would recommend having breakfast at the hotel. Not all breakfast places are open during the week, and it was a bit challenging. However, the people of Pontorson are SO friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here, and take the bus or taxi to Mont Saint Michel. Also, stop by the tourism office, they are very helpful as well.

- deboct57 (4/5): No overnight staff, areas locked up, no prior warning. - The only staff on duty, nice young man, left at 8pm. There was no-one on duty in the hotel until 9.45am next day. Reception, bar, lounge and ground floor toilet were locked up and not accessible. We weren't told we'd be alone in the building, no health, safety, fire, medical emergency info was given to us in advance. Is it me or is that odd?

- OwenT428 (8/5): great stopover on our first night in France - Great hotel in what is a quiet yet quirky town. Really friendly reception, ease of private parking, clean and well decorated hotel, a useful AND fun elevator, and a fantastic breakfast made this a worthwhile stop over on our first night travelling Brittany and Normandy. I have to add that the garden was also typically French - clean, colourful and incredibly beautiful. It's in easy reach of Mont St Michel as well....and what an incredible site that is! Minor points: no iron/iron board in room (seems to be typical across France). No staff beyond 20:00hrs (until the morning).

- 413PavelH (10/5): Nice one-nght stay when visiting Mont St. Michel - My wife and I stayed here for one evening before getting an early start to visit Mont St. Michel the next morning. We drove quite some distance and arrived outside of normal check-in hours, but the hotel manager (owner?) was kind enough to come and check up in-we very much appreciated this. The hotel is nicely decorated, with a lovely back garden. There is parking in the back, and there is a lift for bags, which was helpful since we had a room on the upper floor. We requested a room off the street, and we were given this with no fuss--again, much appreciated. The hotel booked us into a restaurant for the evening, which we really enjoyed. Our room was clean and quiet, which all that we needed. We got a good night's sleep for our early start the next day-exactly what we wanted.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - For a supposed 5* hotel, the shower in the bathroom was hand held. One bottle of water was provided for two people for 2 nights. The toiletries were sparse and not anywhere near what one would expect for the rating. No air conditioning, no fridge in the room, no coffee/tea making facilities. I asked for ice to have with the water and ...no ice...the machine had broken. Feel like I and my party of guests were seriously misled about this place. This was meant to be the best of our touring holidy. It turned out to be the most expensive and the worst! What on earth warranted this place with a 5* rating? Not sure now I trust expedia.

- AndrewY938 (10/5): Great Hotel - We stayed at Hotel Victor Hugo on our way back to Paris for two nights . This place is a gem in the French country side. The owner is helpful and attentive. The rooms are fantastic. We booked the best room which had an amazing bath and bed. The breakfast was great and plentiful. The lack of a fridge in the room was made up by being able to put items in the bar fridge down stairs. There is a very small lift which is great for sending your bags up to your floor. Highly recommend the La Dolce Vita a few doors down and the restaurant at the back. Had two great meals.
- Rachelw16789 (10/5): Amazing stay, lovely customer service. Highly recommended - We stayed in room 3, which wad located outside with its own private balcony. Quality of the room was amazing, and went above and beyond our expectations. Very modern ensuite aswell. Lovely bed and a very good nights sleep. The hotel itself had a lovely big outdoor space, where you can sit for breakfast/drinks in the evening. The outdoor space was very peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast for €15 each was very good. A selection of cold food, including breads, croissants etc, juices, yoghurts, coffees.The host also offers cooked bits including omlettes and eggs included in the price. Customer service was very friendly from start to finish, despite some of the staff not being fluent in english they always made the effort to make sure your needs were met. The only very small recomendation we would make would be we would have liked 2 bottles of water in the room rather than 1 small bottle. Good driving distance to visit Mont san Michel - took about 15 minutes to drive to the car park where shuttle buses depart from. Would recommend a stay - particularly room 3!

- Roger (10/5): Great location for visiting Mont Saint Michel - Great place for a visit to city or Mont Saint Michel. New, clean and comfortable. A lot of restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Free parking in rear of hotel. Our room opened onto a beautiful courtyard.
- Kathleen (6/5): - Room and bed were clean and very spacious. Bathtub was not set up for shower. No air conditioning so widows need to be opened to get air. Local restaurant/bar was below our room and very noisy until 2 am. Outside doors were locked continually throughout our 3 day stay and we had to walk a long block to reach back doir to get in to rroom. At night was difficult to see. Nice courtyard with fountain and seating. Hard to find anybody from hotel to assist you. Need car to get around or take local bus to Mont St Michal.
- CGira (10/5): Delightful Hotel in center of Pontorson - My Family (husband, myself and two late teens) stayed at Hotel Victor Hugo Pontorson in July 2018. The hotel appeared newly renovated and was delightful. The rooms were very well furnished and the peaceful gardens provided a lovely place to sit on a hot evening. A generous and delicious breakfast was served by the proprietor in the newly appointed dining room. The only downside to our stay was that there was no air conditioning or ceiling fan in the rooms and as the weather was very hot this made things uncomfortable. The proprietor we met only speaks French (we were fortunate our daughter is semi fluent) and we were most surprised to discover we were the only guests. A hidden gem. Worth a visit particularly at a cooler time of year.

- Geminifoodie (8/5): Beautiful hotel in the center of Pontorson - This hotel is a quick walk from the Pontorson train station. The rooms are bright and beautifully decorated. There is a small lift next to the stairs if you need help with luggage. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is on the main street of the town so the restaurants, pharmacy, grocery, church are nearby. There is a spacious garden behind the hotel perfect for sunning and reading.
