• Andrew (4/5): - The staff were fine but the room had multiple issues: Toilet seat lid that fell off as it was not connected to the seat Dressing table stool had loose leg Brown stains on walls and doors Bathroom sink plug did not work No hairdryer in room No hook or rail at all in bathroom to hang towels Carpet in corridor very dirty with sundry tears fixed with gaffer tape Treads on internal corridor steps damaged and potentially dangerous
• Kathryn (6/5): - I liked the shower. Room was a bit dingy and lacking in atmosphere. TV was not working (Room 125). I went to reception who changed the batteries in the remote but the TV still did not work. The ground floor room looked out over the car park but there were no nets so I had to keep the blind down until I was dressed. Mattress was not the most comfortable although it was OK.
• Alastair (8/5): - Room quite small, but comfortable and with all the essentials needed. Quite thin walls to next room but fortunately the occupants were quiet at a reasonable time (they might have heard my snoring though!)
• Jason (2/5): Terrible stay! - On arrival quite late at night, met a grumpy receptionist who made us feel quite unwelcome, got into the cold room no heating, turned on the heating. It was just making ticking noises! Found paint peeling off the bathroom ceiling. Bed was uncomfortable! Not a great stay, glad that we were only there for a night!
• Daniel (6/5): Two night, weekend, solo traveler stay. - I didn’t eat or drink so I can’t comment on that. The t.v was great, Netflix ready to go and other apps. The WI-FI was terrible, though there was no problem with the internet connection on telly, my phone however kept losing signal any my own service provider had even worse connection due to the location I’m sure. The bed and pillows were on the uncomfortable side too but that could just be a preference thing. One off the towels was stained but the room and bathroom were otherwise clean. It did say shower/tub combo but it was only a shower. It was very noisy, the couple above me and opposite were arguing till the early hours. A two minute walk away is a co-op, Indian restaurant, fish and chip shop and an off licence, so essentials are readily available. All in all for the price it was ok.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Great Place To Stay - I chose the hotel as it wasn't too far from the NEC and was much more reasonably priced. We arrived in the evening after working an event, and were checked in by a friendly staff member. The room we were given was opposite the beer garden of the connecting pub, which was loud, but the garden seemed to close around 10pm, so it was forgivable; though if I stayed again, I'd definitely request to be put on the opposite side because it was a bit fish bowl like as the benches were almost right outside our window, so we had to keep the curtains closed. The bed was comfortable, so sleeping wasn't an issue when we settled down. We didn't actually spend all that long there as we had to check out very early the next morning to go back to work. From what we did experience, it was very adequate for what we needed. Though, the room could do with a little bit of TLC, as there was damage to the back of the bathroom door and some mould in the shower.

• David (8/5): - The property is getting a little bit tired now, however, it's relatively cheap to stay and very convenient for the NEC. Food is good and staff very helpful with easy to follow procedures. Countryside and views are amazing, considering it's on a main road. Bathrooms could also do with a bit of an upgrade, but overall, good place to stay.

• Tanya (4/5): - Good location, lovely staff. Room outdated decor…bedside lights had no lampshade, just bare bulbs which were so bright I could not use. One double plug other side of room to bed . Flaky paint above shower and peeling wallpaper in bedroom…just needs complete redecoration. Walls thin and noisy. Neighbours weren’t being plaid but could here everything…even them putting plugs into socket and turning on switch!!

• Sharon (6/5): Bed was so uncomfortable - Check in was ok but a bit slow. Room was tired, shower door broken, no hairdryer in room and no phone in room to check with reception to see if I could borrow a hairdryer. But oh the bed was absolutely shocking. Bedding looked clean, pillows were flat and thin but omg the mattress was just so bad. Rock hard on the edges yet it gave no support in the middle. It was one of the worse beds we have ever slept on
• joanne (2/5): - The room was do bad we ended up moving to another hotel. Om arrival the room was freezing and smelled of sewage. It was very dated and didnt look clean, carpet was stained with a build up of dust around the edges. The walls were grubby and has lits of marks on. The sheet on the bed was stained, tbere was no mattress protectors on the mattress. One of the towels had a scab on it which was the final straw! The staff were pleasant and tried to be helpful though, they offered a refund which should arrive after head office have been informed

The bar and restaurant area are well maintained and cosy and the food and drink was very nice and not too expensive, breakfast was also enjoyable. The only downside was getting charged for parking which wasn't pre-advertised.
• Tegan (4/5): - Unfortunately, we didn't have the best stay here. The staff were very friendly and accommodating however, there was multiple stains, marks and hairs left in the shower and bathroom as well as the bedroom. The pillows were extremely thin which prevented comfort through the night. The walls are so thin we could hear general conversations from the room next to us including snoring all through the night which again affected our sleep. The food was also a disappointment. We had to send it back after being sick following a few mouthfuls. The staff were understanding and agreed the taste wasn't up to standard. Breakfast and parking wasn't worth the extra money. We were told on the day they would have matched Expedia prices and gave us free parking. This is not advertised on their website and too late once arrived. The building was a good size and had both bar and restaurant area.

• Silke (6/5): Thin walls and snoring - The walls in my room were so thin, I could hear my room neighbour snore... all night... so take your earplugs! The waiting to check in was extensive. We have stayed for at least 10 years now and I feel this may have been the last time. Extra charges for car parking .... really..??

• Anusha (4/5): - When I checked in as a single female occupant, the receptionist (an older lady) made a joke and then announced my room number very loudly when others were around which did not make me feel safe. The restaurant staff were lovely and the food was exceptional. The shower in my room was awful had poor pressure and scalding hot. The beds were springy and hard so did not manage to get a decent night's sleep, especially for the price I paid I would have preferred a slightly better bed. I also booked a double but was given a room with two single beds but I did not complain as I was tired.
• Joy (10/5): - We didn’t pay a lot for our stay. The room was very dark the lights were not bright enough. The bed was not comfortable. No hairdryer. Tea and coffee but no spoon to stir it! Cleanliness was fair. Cobwebs in corners paint peeling in the bathroom and in general rooms needed a lick of paint.

However the bedrooms were poor, in need of updating as do the en-suite . The bedroom was clean however. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bus stop outside hotel useful to get into Birmingham .
• Stephen (6/5): - We arrived at the strawberry bank on the night of the 5th December. We were catching a plane from the airport the following day. We booked in by the most delightful staff members, both of in good humour, friendly, a lovely welcome. We went to the restaurant and the young lady there was very professional and charming. A good host. The meal was very enjoyable. We needed to be up for the opening of the restaurant to have breakfast the following morning as we had a plane to catch Our room was standard but comfortable clean and everything was there that was needed. However, by surprise, on getting up we found there was no lighting in the bathroom. We managed; (being conscious these things happen in the best of places). On going downstairs there was a woman and a man sitting behind reception. No 'good morning how can I help you?' or anything of the sort from either of them. I told her about it She looked at me with incredulity said that she can't see that this could happen and asked me if I had tried the right switches. The attitude was such that it was sour faced and she was treating me like an idiot as if it was my fault.. No apology no salutation or respect for a customer. There is far more than this and I would like to be contacted. I could not get it all on here.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Torturous - Room smelt like smoke and musty, very old dusty heater made me cough, thin walls with neighbours phone vibrating every few minutes through the wall (put it on sleep mode!!!), rock hard thin pillows - instant headache, fire alarm flashing red every 2 secs above the bed, goes through the eyelids. Impossible to sleep. Worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel. I know you get what you pay for, but come on. I don’t mind old decor etc but there is a limit. This was torture.

People drinking outside the window Didn’t sleep much at all. People talking and shouting on and off all night when coming in. Door constantly banging shut,when people was coming in and out Deliveries at 7am right next to our window. The room was cold Toilet seat was broken on arrival Slide of when using first time. So had to toilet seat on. Was late at night to complain. As arrived late evening Just wanted to rest. However that didn’t happen. Tv remote didn’t work only on and off So couldn’t really watch tv The purpose of the visit was to have a relaxing weekend. We was booked for 2 nights Friday-Sunday However we checked out Saturday morning and didn’t want to return!

• Verified traveler (4/5): Not for me. - TV was broken, no 5G signal and the WiFi literally dropped out every 30 seconds. Shower pressure was very poor and stayed warm for about 5 minutes before turning cooler again. Bed was uncomfortable. Staff were friendly and service was good.
• David (2/5): Was good now terrible - Stayed here a number of times over the last couple of years but this year it really has gone downhill. Firstly they insist on taking your bank card from you and take a picture of the details before returning it. If you refuse they don’t let you stay. Secondly the room cleanliness has deteriorated. This first room I was giving someone had left present in the toilet (still there after 2 flushes). The second room looked a lot cleaner with hot chocolate and biscuits. Nice touch. I went to the bar and had one drink then back to my room for a hot chocolate. The cup was dirty. The receptionist was lovely and very apologetic stating that the toilet was down to a backflow problem (on the first floor?). The dirty cup was down to the housekeepers time in each room reduced? If the cleanliness of the room is this bad what is the kitchen like I wonder Lastly the WiFi is poor. Used to be ok
• Shirley (10/5): - Super friendly staff and a very talented chef.. lovely and quiet stay. Catered for gluten free and lactose free meals.. We will definitely be coming back :-)
• Emily (6/5): - Convenient location with easy access to the NEC. Staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant was nice and good value for money breakfast. Unfortunately the room was disappointingly dirty.
• Simeon (8/5): - Two night business trip. Good access and parking and well located in village with range of shops and places to eat and drink. Bed was comfy. Check in staff was great and friendly throughout stay. Place was a little tired in terms of upkeep and decor but was excellent value.
• Mark (8/5): - Bed was on the firmer side for my taste but did not experience any issues during our stay the hotel will soon be introducing camera anpr monitored parking with a charge in the very near future so bear in mind when parking.

However, staff in restaurant were pleasant.Breakfasts were not so good especially if you ate late when the food had gone past its best.

• Laura (6/5): Cold rooms - We stayed here for our stop over from the NEC. The food was lovely in the restaurant however that cannot be said for the room. The room was very very cold with a small electric wall heater. We did get moved to an alternative room,that was just as cold and ended up with an oil heater as extra just to heat a small family room. In the new room the shower trim had fallen off and was lying on the floor. Whilst we enjoyed the bar/restaurant we would not be returning to stay at this hotel again.
• Martin (6/5): Below average standards - Hotel staff need to smile now and again, all the staff looked like they really didn’t want to be there. A good morning and a smile will go a long way. The Hotel looks very tired, paint coming off the walls and generally run down. The stair wells going upstairs stunk of cigarette smoke and the upstairs hall smelt of weed. The location is good and stunning views from the rear of the Hotel.
• Lee (6/5): - No hot water most of the time for a shower. Breakfast selection was a bit limited. No vegetarian options like sausages etc. Beds need to be replaced as they are uncomfortable. WiFi was poor at times. Think this was down to when more people connected. Other than those issues the stay was OK.

Restaurant had a good atmosphere and staff provided good friendly service. Sat and relaxed in front of fire after our meal and it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Overall - excellent value. Receptionist most helpful and friendly too.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. we had a large room.. a few issues.. wall paper was coming off the wall behind the bed, toilet seat was loose, the heaters were old. worked after a while the room became warm. the hall way was cold and plaster coming off . It needs a bit of TLC. but would stay again..
• Darril (6/5): No hot water - It was ok, but for the week our team was there, they had no hot water in the showers. This was reported and still no hot water. Our company Van had been broken into, and apparently it’s a hot spot for vans. Another set of vans broken into a couple of weeks ago.
• Juliet (8/5): - Nice place, we stayed overnight before flying from Birmingham airport. Quiet location. Comfy bed and the room has a desk which is good if you need to do work. All in all, no complaints.
• Adam (6/5): - Good cheap, no frills digs. Good nights sleep and good value for money, but not the best in quality.
• Robert (6/5): Cold - The place was freezing cold , and the further down the corridor your room the colder it got.
• Nick (6/5): Couple changes could be a great hotel . - Nice staff , couple issues with room . Zero degrees outside , walking into the room couldn’t have been much warmer . Old style electric radiator that was slow to warm the room and an old fashioned loudly ticking manual timer fitted to it . So essentially the choice became sleep or put up with the cold . Groundfloor rooms suffer with paper thin walls and more importantly , ceilings . Rooms could also do with curtains , feels quite and bleak cold in terms of decor . Positives , comfy bed , good shower , decent wifi , good size TV . Food was good in the pub too .
• Russ (4/5): - But of a dump, very uncomfortable bed, unclean bathroom with the glass shower door hanging by a thread. Nobody on reception to help with issues. Breakfast in the morning is very limited if you don’t eat meat but you still get charged £12.95 even though half of the menu isn’t available to you. Very poor Hotel with clueless staff that wonder around with no direction at all. The only decent member of staff was the woman behind the bar in the evening. I would t go there again if they paid me.
