- Helenor (1/5): Abysmal! Massive scam! GO AT YOUR OWN RISK! - The fact you can leave Everything! Its derelict! It has 3/4 bars all of them boarded up like they haven’t been used since the 70s - human feces on walls and fire alarm!
The paint is literally PEELING off the walls
This hotel is a big scam and seems to be used to home, homeless drug users.
I wouldn’t pay £2 a night to stay here.

- Sarahjanie (7/5): - Very handy and economical.
Staff are friendly and helpful, paying attention to cleanliness of the room and shepherding me to it. All fine
- Agyemang (1/5): Low price with horrendous conditions - Staff was friendly and polite. The towel and bedsheets were clean. Everything. The name of the place is deceptive "Crown Hotel" this is not a hotel and they shouldn't be allowed to operate by the council or standards board. I was in room 105. There were crawling insets in the bathroom, big holes around the woodwork where the toilet seat is, exposed pipe work, disgusting black mould in the sealant around the shower, squirkey floor boards, damp on the exterior wall below the window. The shower head was leaking into the shower floor and made constant noice throughout the night. The bedsheet and towel were clean, however the mattress was horrible and the springs could be felt arroung your hips as you sleep. The smell of the room was a combination of cigarette smoke and damp. To bookings.com: you must inspect these places before you advertise them. I couldn't see anything close to the pictures advertised online.
- Linda (1/5): I've never seen anything so vile and filthy . - It was cheap but absolutely vile , Filthy , drug addicts in the doorway , wallpaper peeling
- Sadie (1/5): Appalling and Filthy! - Absolutely nothing. It was absolutely filthy, no hot water, cock roaches, leaking toilet and sink. When we mentioned the cleanliness and leaving toilet/sink we got accused of breaking it even though we hadn’t been there, got moved rooms and it was just as bad! Even had filthy bedsheets. There’s probably prisons nicer than this!
- Shane (8/5): - Comfortable bed water pressure was good and location was ideal The floor boards were creaking
- Rosi (1/5): -
- Michael (1/5): A short sentence could not sum up the state of this so called hotel. - Leaving the hotel the next day It was filthy and falling apart, the bathroom was disgusting and had no maintenance for a good few years. all the tiles if that's what you can call them were falling apart. The floor was filthy with cracked lino. the shower looked like it was falling to pieces. the hotel itself was the same standard and the looked or seemed like it was full off DHSS and was more like a hostel than a hotel.
- Thavaseelan (4/5): Not attacking and bed is not comfortable - We couldn’t get right breakfast our kids because they have multi food allergies. Location ok.

- Victor (10/5): -
- Joshua (2/5): uncomfortable, lack of sleep and the tv didnt work. - its was closely located close to shops.
quick access to local transport. the decor was aged, all the floors made noise. i could hear everyone else around me. the window was cracked. the bed was uncomfortable. located next to a alleyway which was used by locals for illegal activities. i was offered drugs and sexual favours whilst outside the hotel waiting for food. the tv didnt work at all.

- Pashova (7/5): Average building - Lovely staff. Old style building with caster iron and pictures of Monet and Cezanne. Close to shopping centre and Alton Towers The room seems like it needs lots of money for refurbishment. With £50 per night proper refurb is impossible.
- Zweli (1/5): -
- Maryam (1/5): - We booked 5 rooms for one night with my family.
We had a very bad experience. We were bitten by insects in the rooms.
The bed springs were very noisy and hurt our backs, and the furniture in the rooms was very old and outdated.
It made a very bad noise when we walked in the room and the corridors.
The toilet and bathroom were very old and dirty.
the windows did not open. 😡😔😡😔
I do not recommend it at all because we had a very difficult night.
- Patel (10/5): -
- Abdul (5/5): -
- Leighann (8/5): -
- Nhls (2/5): Most unpleasant hotel stay - Staff were able to assist with access to the kitchen Place was dirty
Did not sleep well
Only 1 towel for a double room
- Abdul (2/5): Very bad experience. My money is wasted. Can I get my money back? - Location is good. Not clean.
Too expensive for the bad services, means value for money rating is low.
- Eddie (4/5): - The price was very cheap. The hotel is old and running down.
- Setoki (4/5): -
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Leanda (5/5): -
- Viljoen (1/5): Bad - Nothing! Everything. The owners of this facility should be ashamed to call this a hotel. The room was dirty, the walls in the room needed painting, pillow cases were dirty, and the bed's mattress was uneven. The general condition of the facility is in disrepair. No wifi in the rooms. There is no desk/table in the room. The hinge on the window was broken and was falling off.
- Humayun (1/5): Very disappointing stay due to poor hygiene and damaged facilities. - The location was okay, but unfortunately there was nothing else I particularly liked about the stay. There were flies on the bed at night, which made it very uncomfortable to sleep. The bedsheet was dirty, and the overall condition of the room was poor. Many things were broken, and it felt very unclean and poorly maintained.

- Tejinder (1/5): - The room was not clean and smells very bad
- Richard (5/5): - a run down hotel in a dodgy area. But car park was walled off and hotel staff were very friendly and a reasonable location (if you have a car). No frills overnight stay.
- Riaa (5/5): -
- Alistair Watson (1/5): - Price!
Location This is a basic hotel and priced accordingly. Do not expect five-star luxury for 30 quid a night.
If you're trying to impress your other half, do not stay here. If you just need a bed and a shower, go for it
- Hassall (10/5): -
- Shae (7/5): - Friendly staff, rooms were clean and it's good value for money.
- Omolola (1/5): Disgusting place to lodge...I had to rebook a different hotel as the place was totally a mess...AGAI - This is the worst place (hotel) I have ever been to. Nothing about this place is good Everything about this place is rubbish, smells of cigarettes, no heating, dirty environment, windows broken, noisy plus noise coming outside from cars absolutely running please please don't go there...hostel for asylum seekers
- Peter (1/5): https://youtu.be/Knw1s7SUU1U?feature=shared - Getting as far away from this dump as possible which is what I liked best
Oh and the staff were friendly probably more embarrassed working there Everything absolutely disgusting vile dump needs to be investigated immediately. drug users patrolling the corridors 247, knocking on doors causing a ruckus. Making absurd amount of noise during the night, uncomfortable beds, no toiletries or toilet roll in room , people smoking weed and cigarettes in their rooms and corridors of the hotel , people camping in the car park, rubbish everywhere , Door and window insecure can easily be pushed open, rooms covered in mould and everything falling apart. Didn’t feel safe there or clean, looked up on Google as I thought I was staying in a drug den/ halfway house or immigrant hotel when I cane accross a video on YouTube see link below where funnily enough was voted the worst hotel in uk . Avoid this place at all costs. If the link doesn’t work just YouTube = the crown hotel stoke and you will see for yourself.
Seen there was a fire there previously and still hasn’t been cleaned or repaired since I have attached a photo of the outside taken today , still no windows on property how can this place still be standing
What a experience wouldn’t out my worst enemy in this place
- Kaung (6/5): -
- Stephen (6/5): Pleasant no one bothered me staff were helpful bedding and towels were clean decor needs seeing to 👍 - Bed was comfy and staff were helpful Could do with a lick of paint 🎨
- Christopher (5/5): Very poor - I actually didn’t like very much about the room .it was poorly maintained and poorly decorated.the bathroom was kind of ok Most of it. Poor standard. Not the same as on the photos on the website
- Nathan (7/5): -
- Hardev (1/5): overall 0 - bedroom matress very bad no hot water in shower we left the room in 15 minutes handover the key and left No hot water in shower bedroom matress no good to sleep
- Paul (1/5): won't stay there again - nothing The hotel
- Jasmine (1/5): Horrible - You have a roof over your head Dirty, very unclean
Shower didn’t work, was hanging off the wall
Window broken
Someone had been to the toilet and not flushed it when we got to the room
No plugs
- Raja Sekhar (3/5): -
- Mehran (10/5): -
- Chris (1/5): Will never go back - Nothing Dirty - cold - bad value for money
Homeless drugs staying there
People walking round shouting banging all night
- Russell (1/5): -
- James (1/5): Life changing !! - There was nothing to like it’s just run down old hotel It was very dirty and stank
- Emma (1/5): Could not pay me to go back - Property in a less affluent area of town. Personal safety felt questionable due to many unsavoury characters hanging around the hotel and staying in it. Spoke to staff about my concerns who understand fully. Hotel was dirty, carpets filthy, dirty marks on our room walls, stained wallpaper, TV didn’t work, no hot water in shower, springs in mattress painful. No mirrors in room, no hairdryer, (mirror in bathroom is a plastic stick on) Needless to say would never go back. Wanted a basic room for one night but basics were not met.
- Prince (3/5): - Nothing The shower was leaking all night and it took 30 minutes to get to a semi warm temperature , the bed was dirty and the mattress was very old and warn , it was loud and was kept up all night with banging, shouting and screaming. There was a bag over the smoke alarm and the door lock was not secure enough, the window lock was also broken . I would definitely get a refund if I could
- Netsai (2/5): -
- Daniel (1/5): What a shitty experience is better sleep outside in the street - No at all, very cold and no heating Very rough
- Kelly (1/5): - Discusting, mild, dirty, broken glass.
- Lilian C (5/5): Good - Needs maintenance Nice staff and price
- Bardsley (10/5): -
- Anthony (7/5): - Great price, great location, train station next door, all shops on door step, bathroom pretty decent and clean. Carpets a little old and dirty
- Viliame (5/5): Good place but need good bedding - Close to my family Noises from other room special 2nd floor no respect.
- Jason (1/5): - Hotel from front looks good. No heating was absolutely freezing,
Also drug users in car park and around the hotel.
- Bushra (7/5): You get what you pay for - Lovely old building Was a bit cold and dated.
- savigar (1/5): Don't bother - Location by the station. The room was filthy, the corridors stunk of cannibis, there was black stuff in the shower that we kept washing away and it kept appearing even though we washed it away, to the point I didn't even use the shower. The room smelt grim. Lights didn't work. Ate our takeaway in the dark. Was just awful.
- Lois James (1/5): Appalling - cockroaches in the room. Awaiting full refund as had to source another hotel for our engineer. There wasn't just one cockroach but lots all over room and bathroom. Pictures sent to hotel confirming this.
- Clare (1/5): - The lady staff was lovely The rest of the staff was miserable and treated us like scum because we complained about no hot water or heating, kettle or t.v in my room couldn't have a bath or shower the hole time we was there.
- sufyan (1/5): Worse hotel I have ever stayed at - Nothing Everything
- Hadi (1/5): Never again - The noise all night. Music. Banging doors non stop. Next door selling crack constant knocking all night on her door. Was hard to sleep
- Anne-Marie (4/5): -
- Fryer (1/5): Shit - Can’t said anything Toliet didn’t flush and too cold
- Anthony (1/5): - Nothing Dirty room dirty pillows, toilet not clean, cha fed room mattress was flat and springs were just sticking in me
- Azzeddine (1/5): - The stuff good No hot water I paid 67£
- Helen (1/5): We couldn't stay there. We would like our money back. - Nothing. The hotel was closed two months ago, so we obviously couldn't stay there!!! The hotel could have been open, except that it was in dire need of repair
- Chloe (1/5): I didn’t stay here as I got moved hotels as the room was so bad - Easy location Room was dirty and grubby taps in bathroom hadn’t been wiped, grass down the sink and bath plug, plug sockets were rotten, bed had hairs in, very run down, no hot water, fire alarms weren’t working properly, floor boards were mega creaky, doors slammed shut.
- Rajni (9/5): - Calm quiet Everything was perfect
- Alison (3/5): - TV was over the bed, so it was nice to cuddle up and watch TV together. Bed was comfy.
Bed sheets are clean.
Free parking.
Staff were nice.
It's a very large building, it has a lot of potential.
Stayed here because it was only 40mins drive away from Alton towers. The window didn't shut properly so it was a bit chilly and drafty.
No hot water at all. Turn the tap for the hot water and it dribbled out cold water.
The floor in the bathroom was dirty with someone else's plastic shaver head and dirty plaster. There were a few bugs on the bathroom wall, I'm thinking that's just because the window didn't shut tight and not an infestation. Cobwebs in corner of the room. And the skirting boards were filthy and in need of a good scrub.
None of the doors in the building are slow close so they just slam shut. So every time someone walked down the hall there were doors slamming behind them.
If it wasn't for no hot water, a cleaner bathroom, slower closing doors, and a window that could close properly. It would have been fine.
- Eugenia (2/5): -
- Demi (9/5): -
- Mark (1/5): Utter joke of a booking! - Nothing Everything! The staff are a joke!
- Megan (1/5): Awful - Nothing, We didn't even enter the property. 5 people sat on the door step, drinking alcohol and seemed to be under the influence of drugs. It didn't even feel safe to walk my 6yo child in, he was terrified. Booking.com reviews are very different to the google reviews. Unacceptable. Not safe for family's with children.
- Harry (1/5): -
- bill (6/5): basic hotel room staff doing their best - no hot water wash/shower
- BRIJESHKUMAR (2/5): -
- James (1/5): Dump - The photos were not like it is now, didn’t even stay as they told us they had been shut down due to fire regulations! Did not contact us to say! The hotel did not look like the photos that are on the website, the car park looked like a car graveyard, looks like a drug den! Still trying to get refund
- highfield (1/5): The worst night in a hotel I've ever had - Nothing Everything there was damp my wife got a splinter off the bathroom door frame the safety latch on the window was ripped off so the window opens fully in my son could have fallen out of it the floorboards were loose and some were hollow so our foot sunk the door had about an inch from where the Yale look met the the door frame so someone pushed the door just slightly they would have been able to get in the room there was damp in the bathroom the light was all brown and nasty there was ripped bedding on the bed and the duvet had a hole in it.
In my opinion they should not allow families there as the main clientele for this hotel are the homeless and there was people shouting and being unsociable in front of the hotel there was smash windows in the bar area breakfast area so we couldn't use the facility the bathroom was disgusting there was missing panels behind the sink the pressure in the bath was awful it took about 20 minutes to run a bath that was lukewarm the TV was level on the wall and behind it wasn't painted no it's not a big thing but it is something when you're paying for a room the floorboards with that squeaky that I woke us up at night when people walking down the hallway and it smelled like smoking drugs and dirt
Again in my opinion I do not think this should be on booking.com I'm really disappointed that you guys are allowed us to book this hotel is definitely not suitable for families.
- Jaimie (1/5): You get what you pay for - Very cheap Not very clean
- Darren (7/5): - The whole place needs a refurbishment The mattress was uncomfortable
