- Andrea (10/5): - Our host was very accommodating and nice. The room we stayed in was very lovely, a great vibe to the building and a comfy place to stay. We paid for a breakfast that was unbelievably good value for money and was the best breakfast we had in our month long stay in Japan.
- Erika (10/5): Wonderful stay - We had a wonderful stay at Yamashita. The owner, Satoe, was incredibly kind, friendly, and very helpful throughout our visit. She can speak English very well ❤️. The house is clean, tidy, and well‑equipped, and the view from our room was absolutely beautiful.
Breakfast was delicious and healthy, and our children loved staying here because they could play in the snow right beside the accommodation. The location is also very convenient — the local bus stops directly at Kaimukura Bus Stop (just 90 meter from guest house), making it easy to reach. Ainokura is also very close by just 10 min from yamashita-ya. which was perfect for our trip.
We were even given onsen coupon vouchers. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and hope we can come back again in the future. Thank you very much, Satoe 🤗🤗

- Luise (9/5): - The host was super helpful, detailing everything and giving advice on where to go around the place. Her English was near perfect so no issues there. She gave us a discount for the nearby onsen.
The futons were very comfortable. The morning coffee overseeing the next door field with the sunrise was the perfect way to start the day
We would definitely come back The place was a typical Japanese home, so sounds travel easily, being from the road ofrthe other guests
- osamu (10/5): 大満足でした。 - おかみさんがとても親切な方でした。
すぐ近くの日帰りくろば温泉をすすめていただきました。
民家の和風の部屋が、大変和みました。
- Deborah (7/5): Great location - The guesthouse is located in Gokayama, the center of the Gassho-Fukuri villages. It faces Rte 156, with parking directly off the road and backs onto serene rice paddies and mountains. It’s only a short drive to the atmospheric villages of Suganuma and Ainokura and not far from Ogimachi. Our hostess was warm and hospitable with excellent English. Everything was sparkling clean. Our family room was spacious, the twin beds were comfortable, and storage space was generous. Wifi worked great and the water in the small shower and kitchenette was hot. The shared kitchenette was a bonus, with a big fridge, microwave, and a supply of mugs, plates, and cutlery. We visited in late November. Apart from our bedroom, the rest of the house was very cold. Inconvenient for us, but not likely to be an issue during warmer seasons. Our room was heated by a combination of an electric wall-mounted a/c unit and a kerosene heater. The kerosene heater was super efficient, but smelly; the electric unit was intermittently very noisy. More and softer pillows would have been welcomed. It’s a guesthouse and we did not expect anything fancy. For the rate we paid, we expected better value for money and something a little more comfortable.

- Dico (10/5): Nice and warm stay for a family with kids! - Satoe-san was very warm and welcoming. She made us breakfast upon request (need to order 3 days before the stay). Food is delicious, especially the firm Gokayama tofu and original dip she made! The location is perfect if you are coming from Shirakawago like us. It is in Gokayama which is also a heritage site. They have gassho houses that are equally beautiful and not as crowded as Shirakawago. We felt at home at Guest House Yamashita-ya. Hope we get a chance to stay again!

- Linda (10/5): we highly recommend to stop and stay here if you are visiting the region - clean and organized property, 1 min walk from the bus station. The host is welcoming, super helpful and always smiling. Everything in the property is organized and all information you need is very clear. we also had an amazing view from the window. nothing
- Gordon (10/5): Wonderful, looking for an excuse to go back - The inn-keeper, Satoe, is the absolute kindest, sweetest host you could ask for. She made us incredibly welcome and comfortable (despite rolling in with two kids and a baby!) and even brought sparklers and small fireworks for the girls to play with one night. The area surrounding is beautiful, including a little restaurant we could walk to and beautiful villages and a lovely onsen within a short drive.
The location is great for visiting this region, and even farther afield destinations, like Kanazawa on the north coast, felt quite accessible from here by car. Everything was great! People should just note the area is pretty remote by Japanese standards; both the inn itself and most sites nearby require a car (or perhaps bike / long walk on country road) to reach.
- Darryn (10/5): Very friendly. We stayed in a large room with a view over some fields and mountains - Very friendly. We stayed in a large room with a view over some fields and mountains
- Giulio (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly family. Nice view and a lot of space Not much food in the area in may
- Rita (9/5): great stay!!! - The owner was very nice and helpful, the room was perfect, there were board games to play. good toilet and shower and good kitchen facilities. everything was very good!!! nothing
- Subhash (5/5): Stay was not bad but not very good also - Host was very polite and helpful. Rooms were clean. Location was not bad but ok As compare to size of our family toilets were very less say only one toilet in 10 peoples, utensils for preparing food were not available as we have to demand for each utensil to the host, she helped us but borrowing everytime was very aucward for us.

- ANG (10/5): Nice place to stay - The owner is very friendly and helpful
Introduce the surrounding and place of visit near hostel.
