Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (8/5): Lovely staff and location - The staff were great, all so friendly and welcoming. The food was also excellent, cooked breakfast as you’d expect and we ate in the restaurant several times and thought the food was delicious. Location was good. Plenty of parking up the road if the hotel car park was full, lovely views and a quick walk into looe. My room smelt of chemicals, maybe chlorine? It wasn’t pleasant. The bed was squeaky and the mattress could do with being replaced. Bathroom was very dated, shower leaked and was so low I had to bend to get my head under to wash my hair. (I’m only 5ft 6)

- Sandra (7/5): - The location The breakfast staff , the women was rude and grumpy , very slow service
To young people chatting in the restaurant to each other , but not to us , the bacon was unedable over cooked .
The spa had a weird smell And wasn't very clean ! Nobody about to help.ypu ? To many dogs in the day in the restaurant, would be nice if one part was dog free !
- tony (5/5): - Dated hotel .. just had nice view .. very tired . Sorry but wouldn’t stay again
- Antony (7/5): -
- Sue (10/5): Brilliantly helpful. I had an excellent stay - I mucked up my booking and they couldn't have been more helpful. I also got a free upgrade to a fabulous seaview and balcony. Breakfast - all components superior quality. the weather!
- Yvonne (7/5): -
- Trevor (8/5): Overall we had an enjoyable stay at the hotel and we would stay again. - Location of hotel and the view from our room was excellent.
Breakfast was very good and lots of choices.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. On our arrival the hotel car park was full due to a local event and we had to park on the road quite a distance from the hotel.
Had dinner in the hotel on the day of our arrival and the food was disappointing.
- Mark (10/5): Extremely welcoming staff and fantastic views - It’s beautiful location with panoramic sea views. One of the lifts was slightly temperamental.
- Judith (9/5): Wonderful view from the hotel - The view from the double room was outstanding but no view from the single room as it was inland facing.
The staff were all very friendly.
There was a problem with the lock on the single room door, a member of staff arrived very quickly and as it could not be rectified immediately my daughter was moved to a different room.
The breakfast was sufficient for our needs and the coffee was excellent.
The weather was sunny and warm most of the time and we managed to make use of the bar's outside terrace several times.
We had dinner in the bar and the waitress who appeared to be on her own was very friendly and professional. The bathroom in the single room needs renovation, it is rather old-fashioned. Also, the single room was very small.
This did not affect us, but if you have mobility problems there are stairs to negotiate in order to get to both the restaurant and the lift up to the rooms. This is potentially difficult also with suitcases.
Also note that it is quite a long walk up and down hills into the centre of Looe.
- Guy (5/5): - View The hotel is old and dated, all carpets and furniture is very worn, there is a strange smell as you enter the property probably because the carpets are beyond cleaning . When we turned on the hot tap in our room we had brown water at first.
- Brigid (8/5): I would definitely stay again - The view from the room was perfect and the room was lovely. All staff were friendly and helpful and the Spa was really nice. The interior decor is a little dated and shabby in places.
- Andrew (9/5): Great hotel on sea front, excellent position for some coastal walks - Great location, good value, friendly and helpful staff. View from breakfast table.
- Håkan (8/5): - Fantastiskt rum med otrolig utsikt
- Joanna (10/5): Very relaxing break with great staff. Would definitely return & recommend - Lovely large room with an amazing view of the sea. Very clean in the room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Exceptional breakfast. The jacuzzi and pool did not look very clean. Very smelly drain around the pool area (deep end). Someone left a razor and eyelashes in the spa area.
The bathroom window in our room was broken. It was on the latch and unable to open or close as jammed.
- Claire (10/5): Amazing - It was amazingly clean, the staff were so friendly The outside looked very run down
- Brandon (8/5): -
- Dawn (7/5): Exceptional service and wonderful location. A bit disappointed with the jaded appearance of the property inside and out. - Great location, lovely staff. Spa area very nice and great to have use of it. Although clean the hotel is sadly a bit shabby and tired looking.
- TERRY (8/5): -
- Bron (9/5): Went for a treat for other half's birthday. Stayed before & enjoyed it. Used spa facilities, restful - view from our lovely room
- Peter Jay (9/5): - The whole experience Having to leave
- Magdalen (9/5): A nice place to stay - A beautiful spot The pillows nor comfy for me .
The single rooms need some update .
- Susan (8/5): Loved it staff and facilities were brilliant. - Breakfast was great one day but pretty awful the second day.
Lift was very dodgy and actually broke down with my husband in it. It had to be reset again while he was in it. The operator was not brilliant 😒. Consistency would be lovely 😍.
- Bruce (10/5): Just what I needed - Location was perfect Slightly outdated and could do with a little money spent on it no issue though
- Anne (10/5): Lovely room, helpful and polite staff amazing breakfast - The Seaview and balcony was amazing Nothing
- alan (8/5): -
- Jan (8/5): Lovely - Good breakfast lovely location Room could have been a little cleaner ie wardrobe
- Lorraine (10/5): -
- Danning (10/5): Perfect - There's a really pleasant atmosphere in the building..like its always been a loved hotel with staff treated nicely..you can feel it..to me, this is big. Single bed was v narrow that's only complaint
- Sharon (8/5): Lovely few days by the sea - Location
Friendly staff
Spa Slightly tired in places
- Darlington (10/5): - Very friendy. and accommodating to our personal needs definitely recommend this hotel
- Susanne (9/5): Fantastic view from our spacious room. - Great room, lovely view, nice breakfast and restaurant. Location is excellent. Everything was fine.
- Karl (10/5): - Location, view, staff
- Alison (9/5): Great hotel. Would stay there again. - Great location with stunning sea views.
Super value off season.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Short and picturesque walk into town.
Parking opposite hotel. Shower height is a bit low, but the water pressure was great, so not a big deal.
- David (10/5): - Great hotel with friendly staff, always smiling and very polite. The room was perfect (spotless), plenty of tea & coffee and stocked up daily. I can't fault the food (breakfast), good quality, and plenty of choice, will definitely return. I found nothing to dislike about the hotel.
- Helena (8/5): Overall a lovely place to stay for a long weekend - Great facilities Restaurant food could’ve been better
- Ceri (10/5): -
- anna (9/5): great location and value for money - I would have preferred a room with a sea view, but good value for money given the location and facilities - the brekfast was also excellent. The view, the cost of the evening meal - it was average price but of good quality
- Dave (9/5): - Excellent location with very helpful staff
- Fannie (10/5): Our stay was a nice romantic getaway for my husband and I. - Everything went exceedingly well. The outlets were just where I would expect them to be which was a bonus. The view and room were amazing. Wish we had more time to stay. Can't wait to come again! There was nothing I didn't like.
- Vikki (8/5): Lovely retreat - The views from the restaurant are amazing and the spa facilities are great and not too busy this time of year. Pillows were not great but ok.
- Cross (9/5): -
- Robert (10/5): -
- Embley (10/5): -
- Frances (8/5): -
- Nigel (10/5): -
- Phil (9/5): - Staff very friendly, location and spa Nothing really
- David (6/5): - Had a pleasant room with a large bed, sea view, and balcony. The breakfast was good - à la carte and clearly fresh cooked for the first morning which was excellent and buffet for the remaining days which was good Parking was an issue and this was out of season and the hotel wasn’t full. The car park is a lay-by opposite the hotel. Non residents also park there (even though they shouldn’t) and because the hotel had a function on each night we were there it was full when we came back from our evening meal meaning we had to park some distance from the hotel. Unsatisfactory and even worse if guests have restricted mobility. The main restaurant was not available for an evening meal and the bistro bar is not conducive to a relaxed evening meal so we ate out each night
- Paria (8/5): - The best location ever. 🙌
- Nicholas (8/5): -
- Jenkins (4/5): - The location The room was nothing like the pictures on the booking app and the place was very outdated when I picked modern
- moira (6/5): overnight stay - Reception staff very welcoming some of the bar staff were helpful others not so much pleasant bedroom great breakfast The amount of steps to get to the internal lift food in the bar I had a burger it was burnt dry and over cooked I was unable to eat it
- Lynne (10/5): Lovely stay - View

- Pete (9/5): Superb sea views & very large bedroom - Super views. Very large room with sea view & balcony. Room price included use of Spa & breakfast. Sofa in bedroom. Only thing was that the hotel could do with a little updating but overall very enjoyable.
- Penny (8/5): - Excellent breakfast. Spacious single room One of the towels was dirty.
- Andy (9/5): -
- gregory (8/5): - Nice spot , excellent staff, parking A little dated in places but overall very clean and pleasant
- Kelly (10/5): - the food in the hotels restaurant was extremely nice well worth a visit even if not staying in the hotel, bed really comfortable nothing all spot on
- Kyle (10/5): -
- Alex (9/5): -
- Lesley (6/5): - Location superb.
Breakfast good
Room adequate Many of the communal areas tired and neglected .
Crockery chunky and old fashioned. Outdated
Room newly refurbished but no towel rail, old electrical sockets and ancient light fittings
Bathroom window out of reach
Fish and chips lunch was very disappointing. Too big and overcooked. Waitress informed
It is not immediately apparent that the accessible external lift is part of the hotel! I struggled up the wobbly steps with luggage!
- amanda (6/5): Lovely break to Cornwall - Fantastic spot, good breakfast and lunch, comfy bed and helpful staff Small noisy room. Bathroom smelt of drains. Extractor fan at back of hotel was very noisy.
No electricity when we arrived and no water in morning!!
- John (10/5): -
- Tess (8/5): -
- Ailsa (9/5): Excellent stay and we will be back! - Very friendly and professional front of house staff - we particularly would like to thank Amy, Cat and Owen who were a credit to your hotel.
We were upgraded to a lovely room 522 with a superb sea view which was very kind and much appreciated.
My husband had an excellent massage in the spa at a very reasonable price too. Only comment would be the coffee served at breakfast which was not very good in our opinion which is a shame as the coffee served in the bar area was great.
- Caroline (8/5): We had a wonderful time, cant change the weather 😂 - The location was perfect for us, we had a wonderful view from the bedroom window of the sea. there was also a balcony. The breakfast was very good and with plenty of choice. We had one bar meal and one in the rest r, both were very nice and presented well. I would sray here again. No complaints whatsoever
- Niamh (10/5): We had a lovely weekend at Hannafore and would 100% recommend to others! - Beautiful views, facilities were clean and well kept, staff were lovely Nothing
- Richard (10/5): Perfect location, very friendly staff, thank you for the free room upgrade - Everything Nothing
- David (9/5): A SUPERB CORNISH RESORT ON THE SEAFRONT, & an IDEAL one from which to Celebrate a 70th Birthday! - The STAFF - especially, 'Phil', who especially looked after us with Reggae Music on Bob Marley's Birthday AND my Brother George's (on the SAME day!); and 'Steph', who organised the table and 'bunting' for Bro G's 'Birthday Breakfast'; also, more generally, for their friendliness of service: Melissa, Owen, Amy, Mia and Taylor!
The FOOD!
The SPA facilities! The Room - a NON-sea view AND rather small for what we paid!
- Robert (9/5): I will be back! - Beautiful location, very helpful staff, excellent food. The pillows weren’t for me but that’s entirely subjective.
- donna (10/5): -
- Merv (9/5): Very enjoyable and relaxing staff and food excellent - Everything our room, balcony and the sea views were amazing Parking can be limited
at times
- Andy (9/5): -
- Tracey (7/5): - Lovely sea view room ,comfy bed nice and warm .Food lovely abit expensive . Breakfast was alittle early for me as came away to relax and maybe sleep alittle longer .
- Lesley (7/5): - Against all the odds re hurricane winds and rain, all the staff remained cool positive and helpful. The reception staff upgraded my booking as the lift was out of order and there was major refurbishment taking place on the floor below. I really appreciated this.
Housekeeping staff looked after me really well throughout The decor in the hotel communal areas is very tired but appears to be undergoing a major refurbishment. The literature in the bedrooms needs updating. There needs to be more interaction between reception staff and guests as and when things change eg TV out of action after storm
- Sue (9/5): -
- Steven (9/5): - Friendly staff great food great spa Towels were not changed in 4 days
- justine (8/5): Spa facilities and friendly check-in , step back in time - Very friendly on check in the hydro pool etc all working which was lovely and the view from the pool was great , Not much of a view from the room . But it was quiet.
- Philip (7/5): Good value great location - Great location and lovely breakfast Dripping shower and bathroom looked very tired
- CATHERINE (9/5): Fabulous. - No view from room but I wasn't necessarily expecting one. Breakfast was gorgeous and staff very helpful.
- Gareth (8/5): -
- Chris (10/5): -
- Margaret (8/5): -
- Linda (8/5): -
- Andrea (10/5): - The spa was amazing and you could stay there as long as you’d like! Great value for money
- Elizabeth (2/5): We were really disappointed by our stay and would not return or recommend. - The location was the best thing about this hotel. The rooms look nothing like the photos. Extremely dated and worn - lots of the furnishings damaged. Hallway felt like a prison. The water from the tap ran brown when first run (which the staff told us was fine and normal because the boiler had settled - no it is not fine! Made us feel gross and dirty). Mattress felt like a small double and the sides of the mattress were so worn that they had no structural integrity so you just rolled out of the bed. Can hear every movement above you and in the corridor. Barely slept as a result and couldn’t wait to leave! Worst hotel experience I’ve had. Price was extremely high given what we experienced. The staff were nice and friendly but completely dismissed our concerns - though I expect this is what they have been told to say by management as they must receive this feedback all the time.
- Nicholas (6/5): Fantastic position and view, needs attention. - Breakfast was quite basic, staff were a little scarce on first 2 nights but better on the 3rd.cruets etc needed a bit of a clean. Decor a little tired. A bit more staff training would probably help overall because the hotel is in a stunning location and the swimming pool etc is good but the service doesn’t quite match up. Could be spectacular.
- Carole (9/5): Great customer service so welcoming - The staff were so helpful and friendly which made our stay, they could not do enough for us. We felt we were part of a big family . Also looked after my dog so she felt so comfortable. The changing facilities in the spa need updating
- Janet (9/5): Excellent spot for an overnight spot - would love to return for longer - The room was smallish but very comfortable and clean. We could hear a constant drone from outside ( kitchen maybe or some machinery) - this did become white noise af5er a while and did not keep us awake.
The shower was either very hot or cold, hard to mix it to a tolerable level in between.
- ROBERT (10/5): Easy stay, friendly staff - Location, parking, views
- Christopher John (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing, friendly. - Lovely location, friendly staff, excellent menu. Would prefer to have included evening meals and not breakfast.
- Steve (8/5): Love it - Very good None
- Christopher (2/5): Please save your money and book somewhere else - The reception staff were the only good thing about this hotel Everything else. Evening food average, staff poor to no social skills, room had mould, my bed was dirty, I found 3 hairs in my room.
Mould in the bathroom, first on the bed. And it was like sleeping on a rock. The room had the tiniest tv
The bath dated back to the 40s, the wood was peeling. The shower had no pressure, and trying to get it to a temperature that was usable was impossible.
The breakfast was left and not topped up, tables left dirty, juice not topped up.
This hotel clearly in its hayday was great, but I couldnt see that at this point.
I have emailed the hotel with my complaints and photos, but since they failed to reply, I'm assuming they are too busy ignoring everything that is an issue. I feel only left at this point to warn other travelers. Stay away it's not worth the money
- Barry (10/5): Excellent stay at a comfortable traditional hotel - Location a 15 minutes pleasant stroll out of town with a nice view over the estuary and bay. Lots of seagulls but they weren't a problem. Breakfast was plentiful and very good, take your sunglasses in the morning for the bright South-facing lounge! Bar (overlooking the bay) was quite expensive but that meant it was quiet ...
- Charles (10/5): I shall return! - Lovely old-fashioned, well run, good value hotel. TV went wrong. I reported it and nothing happened. A shame because a tv when you travel alone is company. Had I been staying longer I would have asked for another room tbh.
- Steven (10/5): - Location is amazing, staff where very friendly and helpful.
- Kyle (10/5): -
