Guest Reviews
- Richard (9/5): I loved my stay and will definitely recommend The Wheatsheat to my friends and acquaintances. - I found everything about The Wheatsheaf delightful. The staff were so pleasant and helpful, in all aspects. As a solo traveller,
I was welcomed and made to feel valued. My room was clean and perfectly adequate for my needs. I enjoyed the meals but perhaps the main course portions were oversize. Less main course might have left more room for dessert.
- Milner (10/5): - The service and cleansing
- Alison (9/5): A warm welcome in a lovely pub. - From beginning to end, the staff were friendly and helpful. The venue is in a lovely location and the rooms well-appointed and comfortable. The food was excellent.
- Kevin (9/5): The Garbo - Herriot connection - How the place is! It is a pub and long may it remain so! They offer really good food, accommodation, staff. Location is excellent too. Big thanks to the lovely staff for looking after us. Our bed was firmer than we would choose, but that's a subjective view. Anything else would be churlish.
- Andrew (10/5): Great start to a great couple of days away. - Timings were done with military precision. Staff have been well trained. Nothing
- Robert (10/5): Loved our three days staff were all very friendly and the food was excellent including the breakfast. - Lovely quiet location with some nice walks nearby No complaints hence my score

- Julie (10/5): Fantastic stay - This is a lovely country pub with excellent hospitality, from the welcome you receive, quality of the bedrooms and wonderful food, at a sensible price.
I stayed with a walking group and everyone spoke positively about their stay. Will go back.

- Nigel (9/5): A real traditional welcoming Inn. Good food and friendly staff - highly recommended - This is a real Gem of a traditional local inn. An excellent place to stay, welcoming and helpful staff a lovely warm atmosphere a mix of local residents and visitors, obviously a popular place. Comfortable and clean rooms and a great menu (including a good range of vegetarian options) All in good value and a good location to explore the surrounding area and attractions. No complaints from me
- John Young (9/5): - Historical pub/hotel restaurant in a small Dales village near Leyburn. Efficient and welcoming staff & owners. Excellent menu choice, leaving our party of four all happy and satisfied. Lots of parking. Stairs to our rooms were slightly uneven. One of our party with mobility issues was ok, but we were on duty if needed.

The food was very good for breakfast and evening meals. We only stayed for 3 nights this time but having had such a great time we will come back for longer. Absolutely nothing. Well maybe......nope can't think of a thing 😀

The lounge downstairs with armchairs and a log burner is a lovely room with games and even wool and knitting needles! Excellent food for dinner and breakfast. Couldn't fault anything. Nothing
- Mandy (8/5): Peaceful stay in pretty village - Stayed in the duplex room. Very spacious downstairs with comfortable sofa, living area and log burner. Nice location in small village, though no other options nearby for food. Happy to eat on site, evening meal was good and a great breakfast. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Bed was very bouncy and slightly too hard for me. No lights for just downstairs, which was not convenient if one person awake and one in bed.
- Andy (10/5): -
- steven (8/5): The Wheatsheaf Inn was a lovely place to stay, ideal for walking and a base for exploring the Dales. - Both dinner & breakfast excellent. The room was comfortable & warm the view was a bit restricted. It would of been nice to have had Dinner a bit earlier.

Our room was clean and cosy with everything we needed.
The hotel is in an excellent location.
There was a good choice on the breakfast menu and the evening menu had a good selection to choose from too.
The bar area is cosy and the lounge area is very attractive. Nothing to dislike really although the electric shower was a little weary, but not enough to bother us.
- Irene (8/5): Generally a good place to stay - location is excellent. Some areas a little tired - Food was excellent and staff lovely- very friendly and helpful Lounge area a bit too small especially if a large groupgeneralky in and then nowhere for others to relax after evening meal

- Andy Dunmore (8/5): Pleasant pub and accommodation - We stayed in "The Annex", a little flat at the back of the Wheatsheaf. It was self-contained, even having a small kitchen to cook in, however we ate in the pub. The dinner and cooked breakfast there was good, and the atmosphere was nice. The staff informed us that we could also have asked them to get in croissants for breakfast (which my daughter would have loved), however we only found that out when it was too late for it to make a difference, something upfront about this would have been an extra bonus.
- Lucy (8/5): -
- Flawed_Motion (8/5): Cosy location in the Dales! - Fab location, accommodation, hospitality and staff !! Plus great food and beer - whats not to like :-) Bathroom was on the small side but a minor point
- Berend (9/5): The restaurant was excellent! And the location was superb. - The restaurant was excellent! And the location was superb.
- Ken (8/5): Quintessentially Dales - So friendly
Great location We thought that the quality of the coffee, juice, sauces, jams etc marred the excellent food and service. However, we may not be target audience and maybe most really don’t mind.
Just a really minor (but simple) thing: the handle on the bathroom door in Room 11 is really loud - sleep-interruptive as was the sagging mattress on the window side (not loud of course, that was my snoring)
- Glenn (10/5): - Second visit, just as lovely as the first! The perfect place for a Dales visit, fabulous food and staff and even great value for money. It's all good.
- Helen (8/5): - Staff and food amazing. So welcoming. Unable to sit and have a drink after meal as it was far too busy and no where to sit. Unfortunately, my room was above the bar, and I didn't get much sleep. I hate saying negative things but people do need to know.
- Ian (8/5): Great staying in a beautiful area and pub - Clean pub, good food and very friendly staff. Excellent location for walking in the Dales. Worth visiting Wensleydale Creamery as well. Nothing

Staff No coffee in rooms
No tissue
Narrow window of times for meals
Food fair
- Hilda (10/5): Super fantastisch.
- Powers (10/5): A delightful inn that passed all the tests for comfort, friendliness, and food. - The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We loved spending time in the cozy sitting room, chatting with other guests. The meals were exceptional. The dining room is beautiful. There are nearby hikes that were wonderful. I can't think of anything bad!
