Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (10/5): - The property is Beautiful, the hosts were friendly and the breakfast was delicious.
- Kim (10/5): - Enchanting
- Amy (8/5): - First of all, let me say the breakfast and breakfast area was incredible! Food was top-notch and the ladies who served were so sweet and very attentive. Room was very pretty but very dusty. Shower was so small you could barely turn around in it.
- Susan (2/5): - MISLEADING PHOTOS!!! We did NOT even stay!! It was dirty, dusty & smelled old & moldy! We informed the woman we could not would not be staying. She told me to call Expedia to cancel, but still took the entire fee. Supposedly I will be refunded half.. NOT ENOUGH. Ruined our Friday night wedfing plans!! ALSO.. BEWARE.. we were booked into a 3rd floor room (I cannot do stairs)
- Cheryl (10/5): - The owner and dining staff were so friendly and the breakfasts were delicious. The property is located across from a little town common with benches to enjoy the weather and quiet, and there are a couple restaurants and shops within walking distance. The property itself is lovely with so many beautiful details of yesteryear.
- Lou Ann (6/5): - We are playing travel basketball and another team member’s parents were not able to attend so the kid rode with us. Booked a room for 3 figured he could sleep on the floor. When we arrived to check in, lady was rude saying she could not house another person in the room because it was against fire code. Also she wasn’t aware we had 3 people. The booking was for 2. So she made us purchase another room for $110. The breakfast was outstanding the next morning though.
- Ceasar (10/5): - There is nothing which I did not like
I like everything about this Mansion
Especially breakfast when I was treated as a Prince
Thank you Greg and Sharon

- Madison (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at the Marble Mansion Inn! We came for the weekend as we were skiing at Killington - it is about a 45-50 minute drive to the mountain, but if you don't mind not being on the first chair, it's definitely worth it. The whole place is beautifully decorated and cozy, and they will provide you with logs at a nominal cost for a fire in your room in the evening (we stayed in the Jane Austen room, which had its own fireplace). The place is historic, so some amenities like the shower, TV, etc., are nothing to write home about, but everything was very clean and functional. And we had no issues with staying warm even though it was below zero outside at night.
We had a great time chatting with Greg about the history of the house, and he and Sharon were so accommodating (especially when we had to arrive late for check in because of a snowstorm). They serve delicious homemade breakfast for you at the exact time you ask for it in the morning, so that you can get in a good meal before you hit the slopes. And having their two cats around in the morning was an extra special treat!
- Eric (10/5): - Great stay great breakfast and great hospitality
- Antonio (10/5): - The Marble Mansion is Fabulous !! Quiet, Charmimg , Great food and located on the cutest town square ...
Dont hesitate to book this remarkable Inn .. And room #4 had its own fireplace which was an added bonus to the winter ambiance .... We look forward to returning in the summer !!
- Amber (8/5): - It was an elegant, beautifully decorated property which the innkeeper definitely took great pride in.
- Doran (10/5): - The construction was very interesting. The owner quite knowledgeable about the house and surroundings. Beautiful setting and walking distance to most of town, shops and dining. Some areas are still under restoration but the weathering of 150-plus years is interesting to see. The detail of design requires expertise that is difficult to find today. So it adds to the depth of appreciation for the skills of the workers of 1867.
- Ruth (10/5): Wonderful - This 19th century mansion was amazing. The rooms and common areas were furnished with antiques. Our room had a recessed bookcase and window seat. The breakfast was excellent—especially the maple bacon. One warning—since this is a very old house, there is no elevator and the flights of stairs are unusually long. We lugged our luggage up 2 flights. Our only disappointment was the cleanliness—the tiled floor was dirty.
- EVERETT (10/5): - Historic property. Our room was off the chart. The charm of the hotel was outstanding. The BFast was the best we had during our 2 week tour of New England.
- William (10/5): - We liked the setting, which was right in the center of town. The ornate high ceilings were beautiful. Our room on the second floor was decorated expertly, giving us a 19th century experience, but with modern convenience. The breakfast was one of the best we have known, after many years of travel. We especially liked the maple syrup fried bacon. Our stay was too short.
- Russell (10/5): - The mansion was perfect for our stay. Very friendly and breakfast was delicious.
Place was rustic but that’s understandable given the cost to run such a large place during these times. The owner made us feel like family.
- Joanne (10/5): Relax during a sunny breakfast! - Lovely stay and very welcoming host. The building is all marble, boasts an interesting history. Breakfast in the sunny back room overlooking the garden was my favorite part.
- George (10/5): - Negatives: The driveway needs repair. Drive slowly so you don't scrape the airfoil under your front bumper, if you have an airfoil and a low clearance chassis. The Marble Mansion Inn notes that there is NO elevator. Take this notice seriously if, like I, you need knee replacements. The staircase to our 2nd floor room, The Shakespeare Room, was long and narrow. The bathroom in our room, could be pretty challenging for someone larger than I am... 214 pounds. If you have issues, make sure you ask for a room on the first floor. It was MY fault that I didn't absorb the
no elevator notice!
Positives: It's a beautiful property. Our room was very charming. The bed was sensationally comfortable! Greg the innkeeper is nice, accommodating and and interesting to talk too. The breakfast was THE BEST of our four stays on this trip!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful inn. We enjoyed the character of the old mansion, and felt very at home. Breakfast was delicious! Will stay again when visiting our daughter.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had a great stay. The staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfast was amazing. Would definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Thanks Mansion had a great historical aura.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful bed & breakfast! Lovely setting, charming, comfortable rooms, outstanding gourmet breakfast and exceptional service. Beautiful Lake Bomoseen and St Catherine nearby, and gorgeous countryside at every turn.
- Steve (10/5): Lovely Manor with old world charm - Great historic inn once a family manor. Unique in its setting and facing a quaint large well manicured park, the inn itself appears to be the highlight of the town. Comfortable rooms with old world charm. The breakfast was a highlight with a varied menu for the two days we were there. Houses of this kind require significant upkeep and I was pleased to see attention being paid to the exterior. Chelsea and Sharon attended to our needs well and we would highly recommend this to anyone making a trip to this lovely part of the US. Easy transit to Ticonderoga, Whitehall, Killington and the variety of small farm towns that dot the landscape.
- John (10/5): History, good food, and a clean room! - The breakfast lady was great. She took time that we had everything we needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fabulous breakfasts each morning: creative, plentiful and delicious. Meals were served elegantly in a beautiful setting. Solicitous hosts took care of every detail. Inside decor equally lovely and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I found the manager rather brusque. I wish I had known that the house is home to several pets; we have allergies.
- James (10/5): Very Pleased with Our Stay at the Marble Mansion - One of the few places we have stayed where we were genuinely looking forward to returning after our daily road trips to see some of the local scenery and historic sites, including Fort Ticonderoga. In a word, staying at the Marble Mansion Inn was "fun". Very comfortable with engaging host Greg and his wife always willing to provide useful information about the area, and a first class breakfast experience we will miss (the fresh baked scones, maple bacon and out-of-this-world egg dishes). We very much felt like were special guests of this historical establishment. Especially we will miss our highly interesting conversations with Greg about all manner of subjects, his good humor, and the worldly experiences he shared.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - So we check in a little early, which was awesome that they allowed us to do that. We get in our room, drop a bag, and leave. I made SURE to put the do not disturb on our door. We got home and people had been in our room. They took it upon themselves to open up the couch bed, which was nice yes, but when you are used to hotels, it freaks me out that they were in there unannounced, especially when I put the do not disturb sign on the door. In the morning we signed up for an 830am breakfast. There was a menu in the room so we were all ready for waffles and vermont syrup. We walk downstairs and just stand there, not knowing where to go or what to do, as it was our first time there. We get told to sit down and that we are the only table of 3, so to just go to the table for 3. We do that, and food starts coming out. No one told us it was chefs choice. Now the food was GREAT yes, but it was a little confusing. The innkeeper was doing it all herself, she was short staffed and seemed very overwhelmed. We felt like a burden. I wasn't even able to check out properly I just left my key on a table. Which is fine, it just felt weird because I am used to having printed out proof etc...... we heard weird footsteps in the night as well, very very weird vibes. It was clean, yes it was a place to crash. But the experience felt weird. Other guests were so so nice though!!! I would give it 3-4 stars out of 5. :) I do feel bad that the innkeeper was short staffed.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Everything was fantastic. As an essential worker with an overnight stay need I thought this would be a neat option and was rewarded with a beautiful historic facility, warm and welcoming hosts who even called in a dinner reservation for me. The room was very clean with all the modern amenities, beautifully decorated and a suoer comfy bed made for a relaxing stay. Looking forward to breakfast! I would absolutely recommend this choice.
- Robert (10/5): wonderful - The Marble Mansion is fantastic. We had just a great stay, although it was too short. Accommodations were just what you would expect from a “Marble Mansion”. The host was friendly and most accommodating, and the breakfast was great. You can’t go wrong staying here.
- Claudia (10/5): - What a charming Inn! The history, character and furnishings are wonderful! Greg and his wife served a delicious breakfast both mornings! We will definitely be back!
- Nannette (10/5): - The Inn is historic, charming and spotlessly clean. The mansion faces a quiet village green, and we enjoyed a restful night on an extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast was amazing, and really more than we could possibly eat. Nearby sites like Lake George and Fort Ticonderoga are easy drives from the Inn. We definitely hope to return.
- William (8/5): Will stay there again. Owner and staff very nice. - Very nice B & B. Breakfast was outstanding. Room was very good also. The only problem I had was in the shower. It was 2 foot square but the owner said they had plans to change it out. I definitely will stay there again.
- Arina (10/5): - Wonderful hotel, truly gorgeous and a piece of art! We stayed in Shakespeare room and it was fabulous, so many little details which added to the overall experience! Real-wood fireplace in the room was a nice touch for the January stay. So cozy and welcoming! They also have some nice dinner places nearby, walkable distance. Perfect place for a short stay while traveling around Vermont.
- Bob (10/5): - Great location to town and highways. Perfect location to stay in Southern Vermont
- stephanie (8/5): - The owners areincredibly hospitable and talented
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent B&B. The Parke’s were very hospitable & we enjoyed the personable interaction. Breakfasts were outstanding! Great job Sharon & Greg
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The building was unique and our room was cozy and comfortable.
- Crystal (10/5): Love the Marble Mansion. - My husband and I stay here whenever we are in the area. We absolutely love it. The rooms are beautiful and everyone is so wonderful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was our first stay in a Bed and Breakfast so it took a bit getting used to, but once I realized that it was not meant to be like a motel, it was a great experience. The staff is very accommodating to your needs and make your stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was great and they adjusted the menu to my liking. We will stay at this Inn the next time we stay over night in the Fair Haven area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is unique historic bed & breakfast. Reasonable price. Delicious breakfast and pleasant staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely old mansion with beautiful marble work and architecture. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. Breakfast on both mornings was superb! Owners and staff were very welcoming and friendly. We would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We checked in early and met the owner. He was very accommodating and showed us to our room. He then gave us a brief history of this fantastic and unique Inn. We have family in the area and will definitely be staying here again. The rooms are clean and the bed was like floating on a cloud!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the interior of this property the architecture of the home was beautiful.
- Allison (10/5): - We love the Marble Mansion. Sharon and Greg treat you like family. The beds are so comfortable and the breakfast is the best! Highly recommend
- Greg (10/5): A real gem - The owner greeted us and showed us around her beautiful bed and breakfast. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. We had great wifi and the modern conveniences in an 1860s setting. Fair Haven is a very cozy little town. She asked when we wanted breakfast - between 8:00 and 10:00 so she could serve it hot. There was fresh fruit, a delicious egg casserole and biscuits that were remarkable. Needless to say, we enjoyed our stay. The only thing I should mention, the bathroom was clean but not to up to date. Obviously the rest of the accommodations made up for this. Definitely a place we would hope to visit again.
- Larry (10/5): - The house is historic and quite interesting. Breakfast was quite good and served immediately. Hosts wete friendly and helpful.
- Sharon (10/5): Back in time - This was my first experience with a B&B. I was very pleasantly surprised. Sharon was most excellent! We were checked into the Jane Austin room and it was perfect, clean and comfortable. The Marble Manor is a beautiful English Manor, beautifully decorated.
The breakfast was very good and I totally enjoyed eating in the sun-room! There were only 4 other patrons in the manor for breakfast that morning and it was very pleasant to converse, be friendly and not be so over crowded and impersonal like so many other hotels.
Prior to breakfast I enjoyed my first cup of coffee relaxing on the wrap around front porch.
If I had to say anything negative it would be the shower was very small but overall that didn't diminish my experience at all.
If I ever find myself back in Fair Haven, VT, I would definitely choose The Marble Mansion.
- Michael (10/5): The Perfect B&B - Wonderful property! Greg and his lovely wife were the perfect hosts. The bed and pillows were so comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. The maple bacon was the best, ever! I will be back for another relaxing extended weekend this fall. I highly recommend the Marble Mansion to anyone planning to visit Vermont.
- Kathy (6/5): - Our rooms had no TV, there may be some that do. Very long staircases to reach 3rd floor with suitcase! Breakfast a little disappointing for those who do not eat eggs.
