We did not try the breakfast but others said it was great. The area is lively and can be noisy at night but we loved that sound. The sound proofing when doors and windows are shut is great if you wanted to shut that out. It took us a bit of practice not to flood the bathroom with the shower but we got there in the end !

The hotel staff were welcoming, our room comfortable and well equipped. A highlight was our breakfast with plenty of choices, the lovely and efficient staff team led by Katho .

• kennethm92 (10/5): Lovely hotel - We had a week in the Ax St John which is in a great central location. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are lovely, but if you want a quiet stay ask for a room at the back of the hotel. Breakfast is served at the adjoining AX Rosselli and it was fabulous. A three tier stand with pastries, cold cuts and cheese, then fruit at the top, plus your choice of eggs and omelettes, yoghurt and cereals. The breakfast staff, under team leader Katho, were absolutely fantastic. The service was totally faultless. Thank you for a wonder ful stay.

In fact we enjoyed sitting out with a drink in the evening listening to the adjacent bar music..Loved the decor and the sensitive restoration..Of course I'd go back..Just enjoy...

In der Nacht aufgrund der Lage des Zimmers nicht möglich bei offenen Febster zu schlafen. Dafür war es ruhig. Siehe oben...Zudem war der Wasserhahn beim Kipper defekt...immer alles voller Wasser....denke dass der schon länger defekt ist.

• Lisa (10/5): Unbelievably friendly, high quality, gorgeous hotel in the heart of Valletta - Wow - what a gorgeous boutique hotel. We had the friendliest hotel welcome ever, with a complimentary glass of wine while we checked in. Note check in is in the next door Rosselli hotel (an even higher-standard sister hotel in the AX hotel group)- not a problem, do not let this put you off, as you also have an amazing breakfast here. So the AX Saint John has its own entrance a few seconds walk away from the Rosselli on the same street, and the rooms here are meant to be larger. Our upgraded room was absolutely huge, with high ceilings, an enormous 7 ft bed, and a balcony that closed off if you wanted it to be quiet. The rooms were gorgeous, extremely clean, with high quality linen, one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in, a large ensuite with plenty of high pressure and hot water. Breakfast in the next door Rosselli Hotel was fantastic, and the staff were all so friendly. Can't recommend this place enough! We were here in a cold week of rain and wind, so sadly didn't get to experience the rooftop terrace and pool at the Rosselli that is open to the public in the evenings. I forgot to ask if Saint John guests can use it during the day. The location was superb on Marchant street and St John street - easy for taxi/Uber/Bolt drop off and pick up. Also not far (walking) to get to the fast ferry for Gozo. The Saint John was close to the main Republic Street and all the attractions. Go early to St John's Co-Cathedral to avoid long entry queues (or try pre-pay online) and see the stunning Caravaggio painting of John the Baptist's beheading, don't miss the upstairs audiovisual explanation which was brilliant (called the Face to Face with Caravaggio). We also visited Mdina where the old city was beautiful, but a bit crowded (it was Good Friday!). Highly recommend a trip to quieter Gozo - overnight with car hire if you can, as such a different feel and lots to see / walk to there. nothing

• K3249SKsimonc (10/5): Thoroughly recommended..... - How perfect was this place....absolutely! Ideally located in the main hub of Valetta, handy for everything. Strange arrangement checking in at The Roselli, but only 50 yds away, but no reception at St Johns however. No bother... Room was adequately sized wish large bathroom. Wine in the fridge, water, coffee, tea etc Breakfast at The Roselli was superb. Cereal, yoghurt, eggs, on a muffin, anywhichway. Followed by a tiered cake-stand of fruit, cheese, meats, and pastries. Fruit juice and smoothies, coffee and tea, unlimited. Even Prosecco if you fancied..... Best thing about the hotel...the staff. All so polite and friendly. Reception, breakfast, and ancillary staff so happy to make you happy....perfect. The service was 5*, but the price only 3*......so win-win. Was there on a Jet2 4-night 'holiday'.....Thoroughly recommended. Thankyou everyone...........

Located on Merchants Street in the heart of Valletta within easy walking distance of all the sights and many bars and restaurants. The hotel was quiet and very relaxing. The room was clean and very well equipped. This was an ideal base for exploring Valletta and surrounding areas and we would definitely stay here again.

• Maria (8/5): Κεντρικό δωμάτιο για πίτ στοπ ανάμεσα στις εξορμήσεις. - Το δωμάτιο ήταν αρκετά κεντρικό και καθαρό. Είχε όλες τις απαραίτητες παροχές αν και ήταν ίσως το μικρότερο διαθέσιμο δωμάτιο του ξενοδοχείου. Η θέα από το δωμάτιο δεν ήταν κάτι το εξαιρετικό αλλά είναι κατανοητό σε τέτοιου είδους κεντρικά κτίρια. Η ηχομόνωση δεν ήταν και η καλύτερη αλλά και αυτό είναι φυσιολογικό όταν πρόκειται για ανακατασκευή νεοκλασικού κτιρίου.

Sufficient hanging and drawer space, tea & coffee making facilities, and air conditioning. The service was excellent and we would recommend having the breakfast included - that was really very good indeed. Excellent location in Central Valletta. We would highly recommend this hotel.

На заметку: чекин и завтраки происходят в соседнем здании Roselli, а AX Saint это бутик-отель, отдельное здание рядом.

Besonders die moderne technische Ausstattung trägt zu einer komfortablen Arbeits- und Wohlfühlatmosphäre bei. Hervorzuheben ist zudem das überaus freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal – von der Rezeption bis zum Zimmerservice wurde ich jederzeit herzlich betreut. Die Hilfsbereitschaft und Aufmerksamkeit des gesamten Teams sind wirklich nicht zu übertreffen.

• Jacqueline (1/5): Major disappointment - Centrally located in Valletta — but that is about the only positive. The hotel is surrounded by three extremely busy outdoor terraces with loud music, one of which is the hotel’s own gastropub. We booked a comfort room, and were offered an upgrade. As this room was street-facing, right next and above the noisy terraces with loud music, we declined it. We were then shown our originally booked room — and we were shocked. It had no windows to outside, only two windows facing a glass-covered atrium. There was a strong food smell from the gastropub, the room was tiny, and completely out of proportion to the price we paid, and not for 5 nights. Back to the reception, upgrade was gone to another couple. After strongly insisting, we were offered another upgrade — this time on the first floor above the pub (room 102). Given the alternative, we accepted it under the promise that it would be quiet outside after 11 p.m. The room had sound proof doors to the balcony that blocked most of the noise, but there were no windows in them, so the room was extremely dark. The mattresses were hard. The bathroom lighting was poor, and the interior felt cheap. The lighting system was controlled by a complicated illuminated touchscreen next to the bed, which was frustrating to use. Noise from the pub below — especially chairs being dragged — continued until 1 a.m.After two bad nights we asked for another room. For the last two nights we were moved to a room on the fifth floor at the back with a balcony. We thought this would finally be good, but unfortunately the gastropub’s extraction system ran directly past the balcony, producing strong smells and constant noise. The mattresses were hard, with a plastic layer directly under the sheets, making them very uncomfortable. The shower leaked, the sink was far too small, and on one side of the bed neither a working power socket nor the lighting touchscreen. There was no power outlet for a hairdryer in the bathroom, nor near the mirror in the room. (both rooms). We saw three different rooms and I honestly wonder if there is a good room in this hotel at all. I don't understand a score of 9,1.

• Anikó (10/5): Perfect hotel for discovering Malta - Perfect hotel for discovering Malta and Valletta. We had a quiet room overlooking the inner courtyard, so we were in the heart of the city, but it wasn't disturbing noisy. The room was cozy, looked like on the fotos. As it was december, the heaing possibility was useful. The breakfast is in the other AX hotel in the neighbourhood, it is a five-star hotle, so the breakfast is very elegant, serverd by kind waiters. Overall the staff is very polite and helpful. Omar at the reception will help you with everything. The head waiter at breakfast remembers how you like your eggs, so it was a perfect holiday, thanks to them. Nothing
• Salvatore Barraco (8/5): Struttura di livello. Servizio transfer disattento e comunicazione rivedibile! - Struttura di livello, camera di notevole design e dotata di tutti i comfort. Ampia e pulita. Di fatto, è una sorta di struttura collaterale al cinque stelle Rosselli lì vicino. Quindi senza reception né personale, per i quali ti devi recare al Rosselli. Ottima posizione, nella zona pedonale, vicino a tutti i punti di interesse. Abbastanza silenzioso (era inverno) nonostante i locali sotto, che però in chiusura e apertura creano comunque dei rumori poiché uno degli stessi ha il passaggio dentro la zona piano terra della struttura, non proprio il massimo. Prezzo ok. Camera tecnologica. Avevamo prenotato il transfer dall'aeroporto e il driver ha chiamato la sera prima per dire che era in aeroporto, confondendosi col fatto che il volo atterrava alle 00:15. Ovviamente sarebbe stato l'hotel, consapevole delle notti prenotate, a assicurarsi di evitare errori. Detto ciò, il giorno dopo, scrivo tramite booking all'hotel comunicando l'accaduto e chiedendo conferma fosse tutto apposto per il nostro arrivo. Ebbene, nessuna risposta ed ovviamente nessuno ad aspettarci al nostro arrivo. Abbiamo così preso un taxi con i tempi conseguenti di prenotazione, attesa etc. Poi arrivati dopo le 1 al Rosselli (reception in teoria H24) troviamo chiuso, e qualcuno dopo 15 minuti ci apre sol perché una dipendente (anch'essa rimasta fuori) chiama privatamente un collega per aprire la porta. • Scott (10/5): - Again, we somehow made a good choice on the neighborhood to book a stay. Lively, without being loud, convenient to the sights, it was perfect for our needs. The hotel, AX The St. John, was the perfect two night stay for us.

• winniej603 (10/5): Amazing and relaxing stay - Me and my friends enjoyed our stay. Breakfast staff were amazing especially Katho who is very friendly,attentive and welcoming. The mocha is a must try, absolutely delicious. The staff at the front desk were also amazing. Everyone provides high standard quality service. The location is a great spot in the center of Valletta,super convenient and easy to find.

• B7342WTcarlab (10/5): Fantastic stay in Valletta - We had a few nights here celebrating our anniversary. The hotel staff were amazing. Everyone we interacted with made our stay that little bit more special. 🫶🏻. Reception is at their sister hotel a few steps away. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of Valletta so getting about was easy. We had a superior room which was large and had everything we needed. The added touch of a “heart towel” and bubbles on ice was amazing from the staff. 💞. There are busy bars outside but once the windows and doors were shut there was only a slight noise late at night, it didn’t annoy us at all. We booked breakfast which is at the sister hotel and wow how amazing was that 🤗. The staff at breakfast were all amazing too. I require gluten free food along with other food intolerances and they didn’t make a fuss and accommodated this impeccably. We spent an evening at the “cheeky Monkey” outside our hotel. Drinks were great along with the snack food we had, a good place with a good vibe. We will be returning to Valletta at some point and will definitely be returning to this hotel. Thankyou to everyone that made our stay magical 💞

• Erin (8/5): A stylish Old Town stay in Valletta - Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was a great size, and comfortable. The location is good for getting around Valletta on foot. Very good (and large) breakfast. If you're not planning to stay out late at the weekend, be advised that sound of the bars below carries into the rooms at the front of the hotel even despite double glazing, shutters and ear plugs. I didn't sleep well on the Saturday we arrived as a result. This was really the only downside, other than having to go a few doors down for any hotel facilities or to speak to staff.

• Birgit (10/5): - Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer. Dieses bestand aus einem Doppelzimmer mit Bad und in diesem Zimmer gingen ein paar Stufen zu einem weiteren Doppelzimmer mit eigenem Bad. Die Einrichtung ist sehr schön und geschmackvoll. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Obwohl man mitten in Valetta wohnt, ist es sehr ruhig im Hotel.

Гарний сервіс. Так як місце розташування в центрі, таксі не завжди можуть підїхати к готелю, тому прийшлося йти трохи пішки і шукати готель, а з валізою це не дуже зручно. Вивіска дуже непримітна

• Richard (10/5): - Love!!! Jessica at the front desk went above and beyond. Pinoy Street Food nearby is the bomb. It was Notte Bianca when I stayed and I could barely hear the festivities in my room. Only complaint was the tiny shower area of the deluxe room.

• DayTrip66139881605 (10/5): Great find in Valletta - AX The Saint John hotel in Valletta, Malta, was a great find. I booked it via Jet2 and did not regret it. We had breakfast at the sister hotel AX Rosselli a few doors down from our hotel. Breakfast was wow - not only the food - mainly the staff led by Katho - who looked after us so well and in a friendly manner, recalling our names after day 1. We booked a superior room at the Saint John to give us a little extra space and that was a good decision. We were at the front of the hotel and at first I was concerned about the noise given it was a very busy street - no concerns at all as very quiet when windows closed. We had an issue with the AC and this was resolved quickly via reception at the Rosselli. The hotel room was clean and the hotel itself was ideally located to enjoy all the sights and restaurants / bars in Valletta. Highly recommend!!
