I especially liked how they sent me a message with the code for my room beforehand and there was no need for reception or a key. Just drive, arrive, and punch the code. You're in.

Finding another place for a single night at $400 for a twin room. Head on to Hofn nearby and dine at Pakkus.

- Melanie (10/5): - This is probably the most sparse property that we stayed at on our trip but I don’t mean it in a negative way. It was a very simple and clean room. Everything was clean but it was simply beds and all in one bathroom. It’s intended to be a self check in so there is no one at the counter but we never got the room codes so that was a little nerve racking but we were lucky enough that an employee saw us and was able to help us with the room codes - she mentioned that this is sometimes an issue when you book through Expedia.

- Alex (10/5): - Great first night in Höfn for our trip. About 7 min drive to downtown/waterfront but we were so exhausted from the 7hr drive from KEF that was the furthest thing from our minds. The scenario is amazing and at this is the first place we experienced “midnight dusk”, so it will forever be a good memory.

- Sarah (6/5): - pros: modern, clean, good/free parking, good location, easy drive to gas station and grocery store, beautiful views, comfy beds, great kitchen/sitting area in lobby (with microwave, table and chairs, forks, plates, spoons, bowls, coffee/tea, no fridge though). cons: self check in didn’t work (was given a code and a room number but our room was switched last minute and we were not notified, then at our new room the code for the door didn’t work and we were given a new code but the keypad lock on our door never did accept this code throughout our stay, no tv, kettle, microwave or fridge in room.

Was disappointed that breakfast was not included in the price, as the listing said the hotel provided free breakfast. However, it was a nice, modern room and I did like the mountain view where you could see the northern lights if the conditions are right.
- John (8/5): - We were VERY late getting in due to weather, and even though no one was at the desk (late, remember?), the person on the other end of the line when I called was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The next morning the weather was no better and our destination was out of the question due to weather, but the staff again was exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

- G (8/5): One night in Hofn - This guest house was like the others in Iceland-very simple, very clean and comfortable. I really appreciated the overhead light. I was able to see much better in the room with better lighting. The shower was also slightly bigger than the other guesthouses we stayed in. Breakfast was included and was also very nice. I suggest adding a flat sheet to the bed because sleeping with a comforter was too ot-even with the window open.
- Ruby (4/5): - Keypad to open door difficulties. Ended up with a regular key. They were nice about the issue. With the window open its possible to reach inside and open door to room. I tried it. Safe country, yes, but I want my room secure while I'm sleeping. Odd texture to floor not pleasant to walk on without shoes. There is a thermostat, excellent blackout curtains, and pleasant views. Drive to town doable. But I hate to say it, even though they were helpful about the door, I wouldn't choose to stay there again. I just didn't like the lack of security due to the window's proximity to the door handle.

However, when I booked this property, it said breakfast was included but upon check-in, I was told it was 10 euros per adult. Also, it’s disappointing that for the price, the beds look old, the floor was not smooth so it really hurt our feet. It would have been also nice if they had a microwave and a fridge, which some of the properties we’ve stayed at in Iceland had. The good thing was the washroom was pretty big and clean. Otherwise, it was an okay stay.

Also the floor is not graded so the water splashes all over the entire bathroom and you have to mop the floor so the next person can go in. The beds also have about the same support and quality as a kids mattress. Alright for a cheap room?

- Hannah (8/5): Good place to stop on ring road trip - If you need a place to stop on the ring road, this guesthouse is good. The accommodation itself is quite basic but offers everything you'll need (apart from a spoon to go with the tea and coffee making facilities). Breakfast is charged extra - we were told it's €10, so don't believe the Google maps listing which says it's free. There are places to eat in the nearby town Höfn (although vegetarian options are limited). Better still, there is a laundry in the town too - absolute necessity on a ring road trip! It felt private, comfortable, safe and stylish. A totally fine place for one night.

The views were fantastic. If only the weather would have been better, I think we could have gotten a great view of the Northern Lights.

- Matthew (8/5): - Probably our misunderstanding but we thought this guesthouse served breakfast and they did not have food at all. There were eggs and milk and foods in the kitchen but nothing was served. There are photos of breakfast, and we wouldn’t have minded paying for it had it been there. Like most visitors, we have been getting up early to eat and head out to our next destination so it would have been nice. Very clean place and loved the floor to ceiling windows with Mountain View. Nothing wrong with it, we should have confirmed before staying and brought food.

Do not expect much in amenities--bring your own Kleenex and conditioner The room was clean, but not overly spacious. The reception was unoccupied when we arrived, but the clerk arrived within 10 minutes of being called. Dinner in the town at Pukkhus was excellent--but, come hungry--portions are "fisherman-sized!"

We were a family of 4 and stayed for 2 nights in 2 rooms. The rooms are minimalist and there was no room cleaning done between the nights.

- Robert (6/5): June 2021 - Overall we were disappointed and would not stay there again. We thought breakfast was included, but on arrival were told it was an extra 10 Euro per person. We decided not to have breakfast on site. One on the beds was uncomfortable and pillows were lumpy. No soap in dispenser by wash hand basin. Room was not very clean. Only one mug in room but second provided on request. Walls between units are thin and you can hear your neighbours. The entrance doors were heavy and when neighbours door shut it was felt and heard in our unit. Our was very hot. If the the weather is forecast to be sunny, we would suggest a room facing Route 1. Parking area was very rough and unfortunately Route 1 outside the guesthouse was being resurfaced during our stay. We had pre booked though Hotels.com but we were later sent an e-Mail from Hotels.com offering a significantly lower price than we paid for in advance. We were not happy about this.
