Guest Reviews
- Wongsatorn (6/5): - No AC it's quite hot sometime.
The duration time of waiting dinner is so long. Don't know why it take so long
- Jaruwan (10/5): - Very good
- Jerry (8/5): Staff: the best asset and selling argument - One thing that will make me go back to Chez Lando is the front desk staff readiness to support and the restaurant staff eagerness to serve and accommodate my requests!
Definitely, the best assets this hotel has is their staff. Love the calmness of the hotel, how “green” it is and how clean it was…but those aren’t exceptional…the staff are!
- jennifer (10/5): - This was an incredible hotel to stay in! Great location in Kigali, beautiful rooms, friendly and helpful staff. The dining options were wonderful as well. I highly recommend it! Airport pickup and drop off was a plus!
- JoNell (10/5): Great value - If I were visiting Kigali again I’d definitely stay here. Great quality and clean city
- William E (8/5): - Fantastic theme "Villa Garden Paradise very romantic ❤️" Laid back and very relaxing and friendly, birds, bees, flowers 🌹💐 and beautiful trees. Hotel Chez Lando has them all. And it's very family friendly or a romantic haven all in one!!
The only recommendations I can suggest, are changing the lighting fixtures to led in the rooms with mood settings. And installing window curtains or privacy glass on the bathroom windows, at least on the first floor,. Thanks for relaxing and tranquilly pleasant stay. Kudos to you and best regards WES
- Binoy (8/5): - The property is well located with good rooms.
- Yvonne (10/5): - The check in went well and rapid.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Very comfortable
- Luciana (8/5): - Improve: The only thing I didn't like is that the shower has low water pressure. Everything else was great!
- ATEM AKONJANG (6/5): - I was disappointed with their shuttle service. I reserved my room and requested for airport pickup but none of their staff was at the airport to pick me up. I had to incur additional expenses to hire a taxi from the airport to the hotel of which there was no refund or remorse from the hotel management.
- Adilise (6/5): - Unfortunately, the loud music early morning and late night is disturbing! The walls of the rooms are too thin - every conversation is heard from the next room- that’s why this place did not get a 5 stars.
- Grant (8/5): - Very friendly staff here. Room had television that wasn’t working first night. They changed the box but as it runs on the broadband as that was dreadfully slow the television still wasn’t any good.
No air conditioning in this hotel so make sure the curtains are closed to keep the temperature down during the day and it will then only be very warm instead of too hot at night.
Service in the restaurant not very quick, but portion sizes generous and the cost of meals is very reasonable. They do tend to use a fair bit of salt with their vegetables so bear that in mind.
Used the laundry service and shirts came back immaculate and nicely ironed for less than £1 each, ridiculously cheap and saves a job when you come back.
Single glazing so plenty of road noise and they do like to use their horns in Kigali so something to be prepared for.
- Denise (10/5): - Friendly people, very clean property and most of all safety is their number one priority
- Curtice (6/5): Basic room with no fan or AC - Very nice staff and convenient restaurant. Room was very basic. Biggest complaint is that there was no fan or AC, or mosquito net (thankfully a net was not needed). Hallway was bit loud at night.
- Kimberly (10/5): - It's a good location close to airport and shops. Team is very kind. Rooms spacious and clean
- Ahmed (6/5): - Very bad internet connection, first time in my life to see a hotel room without hotel. There is almost no room view as you have a tree in-front of your balcony blocks everything.
- Ibrahim (4/5): - NA
- Omar (4/5): - It was a very bad experience
- Richard (8/5): - When I checked in, I was sent to general room - a finally got the room I paid for. Also, everything is great (but noisy) except the restaurant has terrible service- 1 hour to get food and hard to get staff to get/pay bill
- Douglas (10/5): - Very nice grounds and a good restaurant
- Shawn (10/5): Lovely retreat in Kigali - Lovely stay wirh the most kind and friendly staff. Will return here on my next vist to Kigal. I felt very spoiled.
- Ndifanji (4/5): - This was my third time there; but my worst. There was a foul smell from the room and some smell of dust. Breakfast was beyond par. I have had better days. When I asked to be considered for an upgrade on VIP status and also just being third visit, the email was ignored.
- TOLA (10/5): - They had a very hospitable staff
- Krishna Kumar (10/5): Safe quite and clean place - Staffs are very helpful.
- Ross (10/5): Great spot - Convenient location, friendly and helpful staff, very clean room, good internet. All great!
- Sarah (10/5): - Only stayed one night, but it was lovely. Very clean and quiet. Nice staff.
- Catherine (10/5): - This is a lovely green garden space in the middle of a bustling neighbourhood. Staff are great, super helpful and friendly, room v. clean and comfortable, great little balcony.
- Ian (10/5): - The hotel has beautiful gardens and rooms, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic.
- Heather (8/5): - The location is great, centrally located and within walking distance to many restaurants, Questions Coffee, and the craft market. The only drawback is it’s rather loud at night with street noise. But other than that they are great.
- Florence (10/5): - My stay was very brief but the staff at Hotel Chez Lando were so wonderfully helpful and friendly. As my flight was first postponed and then canceled, they showed real flexibility and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of.
- Dorine (10/5): - Excellent.
- Tracy (8/5): - The staff was amazing. Rooms quite.
- Marie-Patricia (10/5): - Anyone traveling to Kigali would feel comfortable here and well looked after.
- Dunola (8/5): - It was nice, people were helpful
- James (8/5): - My favorite hotel in Kigali where locals and visitors feel welcome
- Ronald (10/5): - Free breakfast.
- Sigurdur (10/5): - This is my usual hangout in Kigali, for some reason I rest better in Chez Lando then any other place. Also clise to airport witha a good shuttle service. I keep going back there.
- Ronald (8/5): - Very warm and welcoming
- Cheikh Tidjane (8/5): Great hotel - Great services from the staff, room are clean and tje food is delicious. The wifi can be improved.
- Nabil (8/5): - It is always a comfort place to stay at Chez Lando. you feel like home and have a nice terrace and a front garden. Kitchen is very good also, and people are helpful.
- Jean Claude S (10/5): - Great
- francesca fernanda (10/5): - This hotel perfectly responds to people request for a quiet, good quality, easy staff and good food. Always very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I know this property since long time. I like it, is calm, with very friendly personnel and I have no reasons to complain. Pobably something could be a little better is the wi fi, but overall I feel very satisfied.
- Alexandros (6/5): Mediocre - Again really slow wifi, lack of basics like gym/air conditioning and silly service failures—eg no ice for room service...Room comfy and place charming however. Java house cafe nearby has excellent free wifi..
- Alexandros (6/5): Mediocre - A little too basic for business. The wifi speed was terrible and room was a little hot without air con. Also no gym. Staff were nice and place clean but just a little too basic.
- Henry (10/5): - Very Good as usual. Very clean.
- Hugo (8/5): good mid range option - A good option for a mid range hotel in Kigali. Breakfast is of a high quality with a good range of western and non western options. There is no problem with service. The airport shuttle was efficient and they allowed me to check in early. Might be a challenge in the summer with No ac.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice local hotel - The hotel is well located for what I need, the staff are friendly and helpful. Room clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice grounds. Listen to the birds in the morning. Room is roomy. Bed is very comfortable. No a/c, but it was not a big deal. Kilgali is pretty high and the weather was very mild.
Only problem is it backs up to a very busy street. A bit of traffic noise. It’s on the road to the gorilla lodges, so it’s very convenient. I think some of the more up scale locals stay there, and visitors on their way to see gorillas
Toward downtown are some of the bigger, nicer hotels, like Marriott etc. a bit more money, maybe worth it? I personally like to visit with the locals, they were all very polite and interesting.
- Karen (10/5): Friendly Staffs - It was Amazing
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Property is just ok if expectations are set properly. I was expecting something more, so was let down by the reality. My room was the farthest room away from the check in desk as possible, and the hotel did not appear to be full. No towels in the room when I got there, and no AC. No AC can be ok, but not if you're not warned ahead of time. Staff were just ok.
- Alex (6/5): - A short drive from the airport, this hotel offers a great value. The location felt safe the security guards took their job seriously and were helpful when needed. The hotel staff were also extremely kind and friendly.
I stayed on two separate occasions, only a few days apart, and got to see two different rooms. Both rooms were fine, however the condition of the showers/baths in both rooms were concerning. One had an obvious crack in the tile that water was getting into, the other had floor tiles that were slightly loose. There were places where the tile had obviously been replaced to repair pipes in the wall, which cosmetically did not bother me, but concerned me about the possibility of leaks/flooding.
The first night I stayed at the hotel I was given a room on the first floor near one of the building's main doors. The room was extremely noisy due to foot traffic in the hallway. I would imagine being near the inner courtyard would be even noisier. The walls were also thin and in both rooms I could hear the TV from a room beside me. Fortunately this was not a long term problem and as a tourist on a budget I can overlook thin walls given the excellent value of this hotel. However I did prefer my room on the second floor.
The food from the on-premises restaurant (and room service) was good and also a great value. I chose to eat there several times. The breakfast exceeded my expectations and had much more to offer than most continental-style breakfasts in other countries!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Didn’t like the coffee at breakfast. Sad for a country who produces it
- Liz (6/5): - We appreciated the ride from the airport. Staff was helpful. The morning breakfast was fine. The price was acceptable for what we got.
What was disconcerting was that there was a window in our room that wouldn't close, which we discovered as we went to sleep. Why have a mosquito net if the window with no screen has to remain open? We would have changed rooms, but by that point, it was too late......
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent property with very nice stuff. Stuff are very helpful and always ready to provide service at their level best. I will highly recommend this place.
- Carl (2/5): - The front desk staff called my room at 6am, waking me up and accusing me of having an unregistered "guest"~! They told me they were going to charge me double! Turns out they had the wrong room~! What idiots! I could not get back to sleep and am still pissed off!
