Guest Reviews
- Eileen (10/5): Fantastic stay highly recommend. - Owners were fantastic very helpful and friendly they went out of there way to help.As we were leaving early they made us a fantastic sausage sandwich to take with us which was much appreciated.
- Pauline (10/5): -
- Allison (10/5): Perfect! - Great location, beautiful room, amazing breakfast
- Sarah (10/5): We didn't want to leave..... EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HOTEL - The Havelock is run by Paul and Vicky who were absolutely wonderful hosts and amazing souls, they were both so accomodating and helpful. Following a very expensive emergency vets visit the day before we were due to travel, I contacted The Havelock, they couldn't have been more generous or helpful, and responded very quickly to all our communication.
Fortunately, we were able to travel as planned, but we were so grateful for the kindness and flexibility Paul and Vicky showed us when we contacted them.
On arrival they were so welcoming, and even kindly upgraded our room.
The hotel is very clean, with tasteful decoration, a beautiful garden and swimming pool.
The bedrooms were a good size, with a wonderful waterfall shower đżas well as a detachable shower head, again, very clean with lovely quality shampoo/body wash provided.
The beds were comfortable, although we were very grateful to have the additional spare bed, as my partner is quite twitchy in his sleep - the linen was excellent quality, and the view from our room was just stunning.
There is a hairdryer and great choice of coffee/tea and lovely little biscuits.
Even though we were at the front if the hotel, the road outside was very quiet with very little traffic.
The drinks bar is well stocked, and seating area comfortable with some fun games, and the breakfast offerings were of very high quality and cooked to perfection!
This was our first stay on the Isle of Wight, we couldn't have chosen better, and will gladly recommend The Havelock to anyone that asks... And we have already!
We did not want to leave.
Thank you both for making our stay magical! There was absolutely nothing that we didn't enjoy about this hotel.
The only tiny issue for me personally, and this is by no means a criticism - was that I wear glasses and can't see to put my make up on without a magnifying mirror, which the room did not have - so take one with you if you have the same issue đ¤
- Christine (10/5): definitely go back - very clean comfy hotel well decorated
bathrooms excellent nothing
- Nicola Pauline (10/5): Great place as a base to explore the Isle of Wight. Plenty of places to eat locally. - Location was just right, could see the sea from the hotel and not too far to walk to the beach or the village centre. Plenty of lovely places to eat and the beach front was clean. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Philip (9/5): Lovely stay made all the better be wonderful owners! - Beautiful and clean. Nice bar! Nothing.
- Andrew (10/5): Perfect short break at the Havelock - Tasteful decor, excellent location, attentive Staff, breakfast varied and tasty.
Well done, Paul, Vicky and all - 110% recommended !! Nothing not to like !!!
- Lucy (10/5): Fabulous stay run by a lovely family - Beautiful family run hotel with a lovely vibe, very helpful. All breakfast was fresh every morning and so nice. Nothing was too much trouble. Very clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel in a fab location.

Nothing everything was perfect

âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ An Amazing Stay!
I stayed at this hotel in the Isle of Wight (in Shanklin) between the 11th and 14th, and I was truly surprised by how wonderful the experience was. The hotel has a modern touch combined with outstanding cleanliness â everything shone from top to bottom.
The staff were absolutely fantastic, warm, and welcoming, and I have to give a special mention to the lady who cleans the rooms â she did an amazing job every single day. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and a perfect start to the day.
I also had the chance to enjoy the theatre on site, and the We Will Rock You performance was fantastic â such a brilliant bonus to the stay!
Overall, I loved everything about this place. Itâs spotless, modern, and filled with great energy. I can 100% recommend it, and Iâm already looking forward to going back next year. Love, love, love! đ
- Jon (10/5): N/A - I really enjoyed ny stay over Sunday, no problems there. Sunday was the best day out to walk around the property and down the seafront N/A
- Deborah (10/5): Perfect stay - What a lovely hotel. Good rooms, modern, and in a great location to walk down the hill to the beach, or into the town. We enjoyed the pool, which is great for kids, and the bar area with outside space is perfect too, with a nice selection of board games. We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on that. Paul and Vicky were so welcoming and helpful, we will definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity.
- Artur (10/5): Great stay - The staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean and nicely decorated, with all the commodities required for a nice stay.
The breakfast was extremely nice, with a good selection, and catering for gluten free.
The location was great, a short walk away from Shanklin Chine and the beach. There was nothing we did not like.
- Gary (10/5): -
- Carol (9/5): A happy, relaxed stay. - The welcoming owners, the helpfulness, the relaxed atmosphere, the cleanliness and fresh decoration. The comfortable bed. The coffee at breakfast! I am not fond of Cona coffee.
- laura (9/5): Such a lovely family run hotel with a lovely atmosphere. Paul and Vicky are great hosts . Always available to chat or he - Everything was great , just what we needed ! Nothing
- SIMON (10/5): -
- John (9/5): Great boutique hotel with a warm and attentive service and fantastic attention to detail. - We had such a lovely welcome. The staff couldnât be more helpful. The breakfast was great and the bar/lounge area was perfect to chill out in the evening.
The pool area was also another perfect spot to chill with a good book at the end of the busy day. And enjoy a bracing swimđ.
Great location either way easy access to the sea front and restaurants. Nothing it was all perfect!
- Carole (9/5): Great short stay, would definitely come back! - Lovely hotel with excellent hosts who were super helpful. Staff work hard and were very friendly and attentive. Couldnât fault the breakfasts - they were fantastic!
- Daniel (9/5): Really pretty much ideal. A teeny bit pricey, but perfect location and very well appointed hotel. - Staff were great, room impeccably clean and kept perfectly clean, the hotel location is superb - ideal really - just the right distance from the madding crowd but only about 3 minutes from the lift to the beach/restaurants (if you're unfamiliar, the cliffs are VERY high, so there is an excellent lift service, so being near it is nice), and about 3mins from the Chine. We were probably in the smallest room, which is fine as thats what we paid for, but it did mean the window was straight out towards the bar area so pretty loud in the evenings so we had to close it - not normally an issue except that thanks to global warming even the isle of wight is now a hot place to visit, so wthout any aircon it was pretty warm - though not intollerable by any stretch. As I said elsewhere the room was great. Oh, and that window when closed locked out 99.99% of the noise as its a very modern double/triple glazed window. Also the view out of it was lovely :)
- Dave (10/5): Lovely hotel clean well presented. Rommie who cleaned room is a little gem - Good chooses. Cater for all . After breakfast I did not need lunch so that's best. Could not fault
- Alison (9/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): - Really lovely hotel. Comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff and owners couldnât have been more welcoming.
- Kyriana (8/5): Excellent hotel and location - Excellent price and location to Shanklin and the beach. Very friendly owners who were happy to give recommendations about local places to eat. The swimming pool was a great additional bonus. The hotel bar has comfy armchairs, lots of games and is a great place to relax after a day of exploring. There was some mixed messaging between the owners and the staff about the flexibility of checkout times and breakfast times, which meant we felt rushed to leave breakfast and the hotel earlier than we would have liked. The hotel room did not have air con which means it does get warm in the summer.
- Arfeen (9/5): -
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - gem of a place! - Great location close to the beach- we were swimming early every morning. Rooms super clean, fantastic shower. Breakfast freshly cooked with plenty of choice and great food. Paul & Vicky were the ultimate hosts, so friendly & really helpful. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful stay. All staff really lovely. Will definitely return. Whatâs not to like!
- Sally (10/5): Fabulous place to stay! - Excellent communication. Short walk to beach. Room modern, clean and comfortable. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Relaxing place to stay - good location. Nothing!
- Debra (10/5): - Was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated . Owners were both friendly and welcoming
- Colin (9/5): Lovely hotel, great location and great hosts - Room was really clean. the cleaner cleaned the room daily. They had issues with the water temperature but it was quickly fixed
- Carol (8/5): -
- Victoria (10/5): A lovely holiday. - The hotel was lovely, as were the owners and the cleaner. It was very friendly and other guests I spoke to had been several times before and were booking for next year. I would very happily go back. We saw the other hotels I had considered booking, while we were there, and I definitely made the right choice. The pool was lovely too.
- Scott (10/5): The best way to describe the Havelock is I would definitely stay there again - The property was great in ex condition decorated to a high standard. The bedroom was superb and again decorated to a very high standard with a wonderful sea view. There was also a lovely swimming pool which the pictures online do not do it justice. Nothing and I am very picky.
- Teodora (10/5): I really enjoyed my time there, everyone was super helpful, warm welcoming and very clean and tidy! - Very clean room, quiet and great place to rest! -
- Wilde (9/5): The hotel was lovely, and a peaceful, restful stay. - Lovely, welcoming staff. An option for a 'continental breakfast' (with, perhaps meusli or croissants?) might be a good idea.
- Mandy (9/5): A fabulous relaxing stay at a lovely hotel with everything we needed. Fab owners who were on hand for anything we needed - Great location close to beach & the old town
Lovely comfy & clean bedroom with new bathroom
Great lounge & bar area Nothing
- Sallyann (10/5): Mini break - Everything, the owners were very welcoming, they also accommodated my request for my elderly parents to be on a low floor which was really appreciated. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the pool was an added bonus. We couldn't complain about anything.
- David (9/5): Lovely family run hotel, would recommend - Breakfast very good Breakfast music could have catered for the age group.
- Diane (10/5): Fabulous little gem of a hotel - Itâs so comfortable, clean and friendly. The location is perfect for the town and beach as very near the lift down the cliff. Having the pool was really nice too.
- ian (9/5): First time on the IoW and not sure that it could have been any better đ - Great location with plenty of places to choose for evening meals.within walking distance.
Good choice on the breakfast menu and the service and quality of food was excellent We were extremely lucky with the weather but the flip side being the room was quite hot to sleep in
- Anthony (10/5): A brilliant long weekend & will definitely come back again - Clean, comfortable & modern with fantastic hosts
- Robert (9/5): A friendly pleasant and comfortable hotel in a good location. - The family room which actually consisted of two rooms and bathroom was perfect for allowing our granddaughter some freedom whilst also meaning we were close by if needed. Having easy access to the pool was another bonus. The lounge/bar was a very pleasant friendly and comfortable place. Breakfast was good value and efficiently served. N/A
- Elaine (10/5): Wonderful!! - Friendly Staff, the hotel was clean, comfortable, breakfast included with excellent vegetarian options.
Would definitely use this hotel again. Location, facilities & especially the Staff
- Elisabetta (9/5): Perfetct stay - Pulizia e gentilezza
- Glenn (10/5): This was a fantastic stay at the Havlock great staff great food good location bus stop outside free parking good WiFi - Very good location fantastic staff very nice food spotlessly clean very nice pool area well stocked bar good WiFi free car park plus overflow parking There is nothing bad about this hotel love mr cheeky in Kent Glen
- Deborah (10/5): Wonderful Hotel , highly recommend - Friendly owners and staff, room was clean and modern , bed comfortable and great shower. The breakfast was yummy . The whole experience was wonderful. Even had a lovely bar to have a night cap . Will definitely be returning. Nothing
- Kathy (10/5): - We highly recommend this hotel .. Paul and Vicki are wonderful hosts nothing is too much trouble for them .. the rooms are spotless and very comfortable... the breakfast is great.. freshly cooked exactly as you like it .. our room had a lovely sea view which was great to wake up to .. and the beach was a 10 min walk away .. Paul and Vicki gave us some great tips where to eat, etc .. and were there when u came back in the evening behind the bar to have a chat and serve u a night cap..we will def be back, many thanks, steve, and Kathy x
. Nothing .. everything was 10/10
- Bob (10/5): -
- SAMANTHA (10/5): A relaxing and welcoming stay. Vicky and Paul are fantastic hosts, beautiful property in a great location. - The property is in a fabulous location with sea views, beautifully decorated and furnished with everything you could need. Vicky and Paul are the perfect hosts. Karen in the restaurant is fantastic and tends to your every need. I was feeling tired one morning as I am a Cancer patient, Karen offered my husband some breakfast to take back to the room for me and a welcomed glass of orange juice. Everyone was really attentive and caring. Nothing at all.
- Ram (10/5): We liked everything and the owner of the hotel is very welcoming - Breakfast was excellent and Karen looks after everyone with a big smile Everything was perfect
- Daniela (10/5): We had an excellent stay and looking forward to booking another trip. - The property is amazing and we enjoyed very much the room and the terrace.
- Opute (9/5): I enjoyed my little holiday. The village was enchanting with its cottages and lovely antique shops. - Breakfast was amazing and hearty. The lady in charge of breakfast, Karen made sure everything was top notch: from portions to presentation. Vicky, and her husband who run the hotel were absolutely hospitable.
My room was lovely and clean. Had all the amenities I needed to enjoy my stay. The view of the sea was the icing on the cake. I wish the heated swimming pool was all season.
- Amanda (9/5): It was a relaxing stay and would definitely recommend this hotel - Very clean. Friendly atmosphere. Owners were very welcoming. Seaview and within walking distance of the beach Room was great but pillows abit flat đŞ
- Neil (10/5): Restful and revitalising - The owners and staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The decor throughout was modern, well maintained and high quality. The location was quiet but within easy walking distance of the village centre and all amenities. I was very impressed by the electronic door furniture on both the external and room doors which made for ease of entry even when carrying baggage and/or personal items. I can honestly say that there is nothing which could have been done to improve my stay. I would definitely recommend The Havelock to family and friends and I hope to return in the future
- david (8/5): It was good very friendly host and staff - breakfast great, room very clean the outdoor swimming pool was not heated and not very clean around the pool area
- Steven (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyable long weekend break. - The hotel and rooms were tastefully decorated.
Our room had a lovely sea view.
The owners were very welcoming and accommodating. Nothing

- shaunna (7/5): -
- Janet (10/5): Great breakfasts, all nicely maintained and clean rooms and public areas. Paul, Vicki and all the staff made us very wel - Convenient location for the village and the chine, and the road was quiet.
- Martin (8/5): -

- Sumpter (10/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Very enjoyable - Good selection at breakfast all freshly cooked. Room had just been renovated new bed, carpet fittings and large shower. Everything in the room was new. Everything was of a high standard
- Vanessa (9/5): -
- Jon (10/5): I can't say. - I really enjoyed my stay, lovely traditional breakfast đ, very comfortable bed, good size bedroom, quiet location, amazing outdoor swimming pool, amazing property and very friendly, caring supportive staff. I can't say there was nothing there I didn't like.
- Stephen (10/5): - The rooms were very well decorated and proportioned. The bathroom was spacious with a fantastic shower. The swimming pool is brilliant, very clean and well maintained, and the grounds of the hotel are well maintained. The owners really take care of the building, facilities, and guests. I will be returning to stay here again. Speaking with other guests, they have been returning to the Havelock for many years, and it's not hard to see why. It's an amazing place to stay with the best hosts you could imagine. Thank you for a brilliant holiday. Nothing.
- Angela (10/5): A Very Pleasant Stay - The owners were amazingly helpful and friendly. The room was cosy and bed comfortable. I loved the LED light on the mirror in the bathroom. Exceptional breakfast - all you could want. 12 minute walk to Shanklin Train Station, 10 minute walk to Shanklin Chine, The Old Villiage and 7 minutes walk to shops. Local Post office, too. Near to beach, take lift down - a return ticket is ÂŁ1. The swimming pool is not warmer enough for me. I don't like cold generally - that's just me!
- David (10/5): -
- Cathy wright (10/5): - Spotlessly clean, perfect location . Made to feel very welcome. Nothing
- James (10/5): We really enjoyed our first visit to the island, made even better by staying at the Havelock. - Very clean and quiet room, great breakfast with a lot of choice, secluded pool area, sociable bar and lounge area. Vicky, Paul and all the staff could not have been more helpful.
- Elaine (10/5): The Havelock made a special trip even more special. Thank you!! - There was nothing not to like about it. My son and myself had the warmest of welcomes when we arrived. The place itself was clean and tidy, it looked newly decorated, modern but homely, perfect. The room we had was comfortable and spacious with beautiful sea views. We were offered everything we needed and more.
The location was perfect too. We couldnât have asked for more. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. My son was given extra biscuits and milk for the room too, so he was over the moon. đ
- Claire (10/5): Amazing stay at a fantastic property - Beautifully presented property both from the exterior and the interior. Beautiful outlook over to the sea from the front. Amazing warm welcome from Paul and Vicky. Well appointed bar in a recently refurbed lobby. Very nice and reasonably priced drinks. We booked an economy room and were blown away with just how nice it was. Good quality furniture and the bed was very comfortable. No complaints. We only had breakfast on one day but it was amazing. Lovely cooked breakfast and a great selection of fruits, yoghurts, cereals and toast. I canât recommend this property enough. Thanks to Paul and Vicky for a wonderful break. Nothing at all
- Philip (10/5): Loved my time here - Very Freindly, this should be a 6 star hotel. Very clean and welcomed like a family member. Its got to be the best hotel on the island. Nothing
- Jones (10/5): First Timer! - The breakfast was delicious, lots of hot dishes to choose from as well as toast, cereal and fruit and yoghurt. Friendly, family run hotel, the rooms were very comfortable and spotless. The area was great with lots of shops, pubs and cafes within a 5 minute walk. If you drive you can explore the whole island easily but I must say the bus service looks very good for those without a car. It was my first time to the IOW but I will certainly be going back 𼰠The only downside, and this goes for most of the island, are the hills! To get to the beach was just too much for me on foot as I have arthritis in my knees and the lung capacity of a 90yr old chainsmoker đ§ Many of them are enormous, even my car struggled to get up some!!
- Carl (9/5): -
- Adele (10/5): Enjoyable and relaxing break - Comfortable bed, tasty breakfast with good range of choices and friendly staff. The swimming pool was a real bonus. Bedroom cleaned to a high standard every day. Nice bar and lounge. Hotel was well located but Shanklin itself seemed rather tired since our last visit 20+ years ago - although Pendletons was a lovely restaurant.
- Alison (10/5): Amazing place! Relaxing, friendly, fun. -
- Albert (10/5): Hard working owners who looked after their guests to a high degree -
- Ziona (9/5): - Clean and the owners weee super friendly and accommodating. I came back to a clean room everyday and I loved it especially after a long day at work.
- Acharyya (10/5): -
- Sheila (10/5): Excellent we will definitely be returning - The property was ideally located for all our planned trips. Itâs a clean well decorated property with very friendly helpful staff who went out of their way to make our holiday first rate. There was nothing we didnât like about the property only wished we could have stayed longer
- Debra (10/5): Relaxing time away - Paul and Vicky treat everyone like family, their staff are always ready to go that extra mile happy and smiling nothing to much trouble.
Room well equipped, clean and comfortable.
Bonus Gluten free breakfast, bottled cold water available at all times & swimming pool
Ample parking, bar prices reasonable.
Would highly recommend & hope to return. N/A
- Andry (10/5): Great stay - We had a great stay at The Havelock Hotel. It is a family-run hotel, and the owners are very welcoming and the staff very friendly. Our room was perfect, it did not have a sea view but a separate entrance and a small terrace, which was even better! The hotel is well located, close to the old village. I recommend without hesitation for those who would like to spend a few days in Shanklin
- Sadhbh (10/5): - Had such an amazing stay here. The owners were so lovely and tentative. Breakfast was really good, rooms were clean and comfortable and the pool was nice and relaxing. Perfect spot to stay in Shanklin, 5 mins from beach and old town. Couldnât recommend it more! Nothing
- frank (10/5): - Had everything we needed, lovely welcome and stay the whole duration. The restaurants close were really nice and the beach was so close too :)
- Tim (8/5): -
- Joe (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Great guesthouse with excellent location and really helpful and friendly owners - Excellent location and the owners and staff were really helpful and friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere. One of the rooms we stayed in needed a bathroom refurb, which is planned for after the summer. It smelled damp and some of the fittings were broken. The owner was apologetic but it did affect the experience.
- Elaine (8/5): Friendly cosy and relaxing hotel in a great location pool was an additional bonus - Breakfast was excellent and nice choice on menu with great service from staff .nice breakfast room that looked out onto terrace.
Nothing was too much trouble,Paul and vicky catered for all requests Little short on parking but ok
- Rogers (9/5): Excellent family run hotel. - Lovely location, very friendly and helpful. Great ambience. We didn't like having to leave.
- Barry (10/5): A good week to explore the Isle of White. - It was a great location in Shanklin. A pool and good hosts. Nothing.
