- Christine (8/5): Value for money at a good location. - The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great. It was extremely hot when I visited. There is an aircon in the sitting area but nothing in the bedroom. A fan for such hot evenings will be great. One cannot open the bedroom windows as they open onto the outside passage, which is not ideal for privacy.

- Nina (8/5): - Wir hatten ein Deluxe-Maisonette Zimmer, das sehr gut und praktisch ausgerüstet / eingerichtet war. Der geschützte Parkplatz war uns sehr willkommmen Leider liegen alle Zimmer zur Strasse hin, wodurch sie ab 6 Uhr morgens wegen der davorliegenden Strasse ziemlich laut werden.

The internet was bad, both lines were extremely slow and during the day didn’t work at all, had to hotspot from my mobile phone to watch Netflix

- Nadeen (1/5): Unsafe! Stay away. - Beds and bathroom was clean Breakfast was good and complimentary due to room mix up Entrance gate was broken and had to be manually pushed. We were pestered by some beggars outside the property while parked inside the parking. The exit is so narrow and difficult with a bakkie. On check in at 15:20 we were met with confusion, as our rooms (2 bedroom and studio) had been given to someone else on a tour group who they couldn’t contact supposedly. After a lot of back and forth, they decided to give us a 3 bedroom apartment and another room. By this point we already feel uncomfortable with this place. The 3 bedroom apartment was run down. The apartment itself is quite nice layout and has a lot of potential. We noticed missing light fittings, broken shower door, loose taps, musty/damp bathroom, fridge smelled terrible, TV not working, the toilet upstairs continually leaked water. I mentioned these issues to the lady that checked us in and all she could say is that they don’t have another room to put us in. To be honest, we didn’t feel comfortable/safe in this apartment but couldn’t put a finger on it. To add the cherry to the top, our vehicle was smash and grabbed in the parking lot! Despite there being a security guard and cameras. Absolutely unsafe. After looking at security footage, looks like the guy walked around freely in the parking area (parking area isn’t that large). According to the police, the same thing happened at this establishment a few weeks ago. Worst possible end to our first trip to Namibia. We left Swakop with a bad taste.

Badkamer was erg krap en voelde niet hygienisch met schimmel op verschillende plekken en muf beddengoed. My first room had a very musty smell and my asthma flared up. I was given another room when I complained, which was much better.

Had to now pay double for accomofation, reqeust refund for the 3 nights didnt stay at your place. A total let down and disappointment.

We booked last minute and after so long on the road camping, to have such a comfortable welcoming place to stay was a godsend. Room is very clean, very well equipped and the staff is ready to help with absolutely anything. I can't thank them enough.

Staff was fantastic and so helpful is booking activities for us as well giving recommendations. The soundproofing in the rooms is not good, we could hear other guest etc. besides that, it was a great stay.

Couldn’t get it fixed in our 2 days of stay, which was a bit of an inconvenience. Housekeeping not quite up to standard. Alternative solutions could’ve been offered as a nice hospitality gesture.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay at Desert Sands - I booked the one bedroom apartment, as I thought the studio might be small. Unlikely, as my apartment was massive and I slept on the mezzanine level. The weather wasn't great when I was there, and the mezzanine was much warmer than downstairs regardless of whether the heating was on or not. Apartment was lovely, and clean, with a very well-equipped kitchen. Ladies on reception were delightful and always willing to help. Only negatives I have is that there is no lift (and fairly narrow staircases) and no staff around once reception closes. I was slightly concerned that if I had a problem with my key that I wouldn't be able to access the complex after 8.30/9pm.

- Trevor (10/5): Swakop Stopover - Nice room. Fairly good location. It's not in the heart of Swakop but the town is small. It took me around 8 minutes (average pace) to walk to the Tug Restaurant (very good and a must-visit). Very friendly and helpful staff. Ample safe parking. Breakfast was excellent. Modern facilities in the room. Wifi very good. It's very handy for getting onto the main road to Walvis bay. The only minor issue was that the walls are a bit thin so I could hear voices next door. Not a big deal but worth a mention. I would definitely stay here again.
