- stephenfJ2196TJ (10/5): A day out to remember - After the unexpected closure of another local pub in the Lambourn valley at which we'd arranged lunch for a group of runners & walkers, the Queens Arms came up trumps in taking us on at relatively short notice. Individual lunch orders from those planning to attend were taken and passed on, so that on the day we were confident of a good meal after the 'exercise'. And we were not disappointed: at the agreed time of 13.15 a stream of plates were served in the garden room so well that everyone, already with a drink from the efficient bar, had their food of choice at the same time. Food - delicious; service - faultless.

- BendiW (10/5): Wonderful food, great location, fabulous staff, - Absolutely BLISSFUL weekend break at the Queen's Arms. Ate in the restaurant on Friday evening - very tasty! I had the duck with polenta, my husband went for the baked cod. Both plates almost licked clean! Ditto desert (deconstructed Black Forest Gateaux and Chocolate Delice respectively) There was a large event on Saturday evening but once we closed the bathroom window which opened onto the courtyard we couldn't hear anything) Breakfast both mornings were delicious - obviously proper butcher meat not cheap supermarket stuff. Bizarrely the highlight were the tomatoes 🤔 Properly cooked (not just popped under a grill for 30 seconds like you often get) and SOOOOO tasty. Everything else was lovely too - the Eggs Benedict being personal favourite, delicious Hollandaise Sauce. Stayed in "Datsalrightgino" (I believe this room used to be Hennessy) one of the ground floor courtyard rooms. The outer door (shared with Bobs Worth) was a little loud when the neighbours were coming and going but otherwise very peaceful and quiet. Only downsides were the bed wasn't central so that there was only a very small gap between the bed and the window wall and no plugs by the bedside. The courtyard rooms overlook a lovely field behind the building which was full of rabbits and I spend a LOT of time with my arms resting on the window sill watching them and listening to the birdsong. Absolute heaven for this country girl currently trapped in outer London where birdsong can rarely be heard above the traffic noise. We will DEFINITELY be back 🥰
- dean_copperthwaite (6/5): Messy and sloppy - The staff were very welcoming and customer service was 100%. The only issue’s were the double cheese burger was very hard to eat , as soon as you picked it up it fell apart and it was very messy, the fried egg was over cooked and rubbery , the bun was dripping wet and soggy from not letting the patties rest , also the fish and chips , the chips looked amazing but they fell short , not crispy, theses need to be triple cooked.
- Pye36 (10/5): A beautiful experience once again - This was my second stay at the Queen’s Arms. I saw it on Four in a Bed and first stayed here in 2022. It was a joy to return. Once again stayed in the splendid Wishing Well room with its wonderful jet bath. Lovely dinner, friendly staff and a brilliant nights sleep. Only thing to mention is that the toilet seat refuses to stay up! The heater didn’t work but the staff immediately came to the rescue and brought in two portable heaters. Will be back again soon. It’s one of my favourite places and set in beautiful countryside.
- LewisBridgman (10/5): Wonderful stay again – fantastic food, friendly service and very dog friendly - We have now stayed at The Queens Arms, East Garston for the third time, and once again it was excellent from start to finish. It is a lovely, welcoming pub with a really friendly atmosphere, and you can tell it is very well managed. The service was great throughout our stay, and all of the staff were warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming. We also really appreciated how dog friendly it is our dogs, Luna and Lola, were made to feel very welcome too, which always makes such a difference. The food was amazing, both at lunch and in the evening, and very reasonably priced for the quality. Breakfast was also excellent, with a full cooked option, freshly brewed coffee and a very good range for vegetarians. There is ample parking, and the outside area is a real bonus, especially with the heating if you want to enjoy drinks outdoors. Overall, it is one of those places that feels effortless as a guest, but only because everything is run so well behind the scenes. We always enjoy staying here and will definitely be returning again. If you want, I can also do a slightly shorter, more natural-sounding version that feels even more like a TripAdvisor post written casually by a guest.
- Laurence177 (10/5): Superb food, staff, service and location - The pub managed to accommodate a group of 13 (plus dog) at 6 days notice. All the staff were excellent, very welcoming and we didn't have to wait for food or drinks. The menu offered exiting additions to normal pub fare - and everything we tasted was delicious. Lovely location (even in the rain) and a warm atmosphere in a traditional village pub. We stayed longer than planned to watch the rugby with a few extra pints.
- 650gavinp (10/5): Tranquil Village Life - I loved the quiet upstairs room. No noise from the car park or pub that I could hear. Beautiful view of horses and a tranquil village. The lighting was probably the best ever. Switches at door and bed. Plenty of light for reading. The bathroom light has a blue glow for about 5 minutes, I suppose so you can find your way to bed. Passage lights are off normally but respond to movement well. Bed is comfortable and kettle and coffee supplies left nothing to be desired.

- Deborah (6/5): - I stayed here to watch the Perseids meteor shower because it’s in the middle of nowhere and I’ve stayed here before. Unfortunately they ended up having a lock in at the pub which didn’t end until 2:15am meaning all the lights were on and I couldn’t use the garden to look for meteors as intended which was a shame. The food is pretty good but the staff didn’t really come over to so any check backs on my second night and I was trying to get there attention for ages to pay my bill. Once I did ask for the bill I was again left there waiting for another 15mins before I could get there attention to be able to pay. The sky tv in my room was broken and although I was offered a different room, the second room was so hot that I stuck with the first. The manager said he would look into the broken sky the next day while I was out but he didn’t appear to do so as it was still broken when I returned and nothing was said to me. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be staying here again.

- Cliff (10/5): Lovely friendly stay. - I stayed for 4 days during the week so saw two different teams of staff, every single one of whom was exactly the right level of friendly, approachable and pleasantly conversational without ever being intrusive. The food was excellent with a special mention for the mushroom risotto which was frankly gorgeous enough to end wars. The beer was well kept, the internet worked and there was always a parking space.
- luvtogo6 (8/5): Lovely pub with rooms, highly recommended - Booked as part of a road trip in the area. It is in a very pretty village, a footpath by the side of the pub takes you to the main street. Pub, with rooms, is on the roadside but it is a quiet road, and this feels like a locals pub, so warm and welcoming inside. Check-in was easy and my room was good. Big bed with lovely linen, TV and hospitality tray in room very well stocked. Ironing board, hairdryer etc, all that you need for a peaceful stay. It is a quiet area but I think my room was over a boiler of some description (I was at the back of the pub) which caused a white noise at bedtime and in the morning. If you are noise sensitive then perhaps mention when booking. Breakfast was very good, all freshly cooked and lovely restaurant area, bright and sunny. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

- DEBRA (10/5): - Had a really lovely stay at the Queen's Arms for one night. Two of our party had dogs and the outside rooms were ideal with a safe area for feeding them and a nice sitting area for us. Footpath from the pub made walking them easy without the need to drive anywhere. The thing that stood out even more than the great food and very comfortable clean rooms was the very lovely staff and great service. Nothing was too much trouble. Delicious breakfast too. We will return.

- helgre2016 (10/5): Queens Arms delight - We had a beautiful little room, extremely comfortable bed (the best Ive had for a long time), tea making facilities in the room, lovely view of the meadow, clean and comfortable bathroom. Food in the pub was excellent both for dinner and breakfast. The evening meal menu was abundant in good choices of healthy meals, well presentated and tasty meals. Decor was very horse orientated as you would expect in this area. Thoroughly recommend a stay here, an excellent base to walk from.

- shaun613 (10/5): Outstanding Country Inn - My wife and I stayed for three nights from 2nd - 5th April 2025 at The Queens Arms, East Garston, and what an outstanding country inn it is. We stayed in the Ashdown bedroom, which was both cosy & comfortable. The food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent and the staff looked after us so well. East Garston is a beautiful village with lots of local walks that we really enjoyed. We will certainly be staying here again. Thanks to all the team for a wonderful stay.

- peterwC4766GR (10/5): Wonderful country pub and restaurant welcoming staff good rooms - We found this lovely country pub restaurant on Google - travelled from Yorkshire Friday evening to a friendly welcome Restaurant and bar were quite busy - always a good sign, The service was efficient and atmosphere friendly The restaurant served beautifully prepared, local sourced produce A good range of beers and drinks at the bar The staff were professional and friendly The room was comfortable, clean with bath, plus shower and all facilities Breakfast just added to the great night local sources bacon and sausages tasted wonderful - continental breakfast also available We would recommend to others and we certainly plan to stay again Very convenient if you are en toute to or from nearby racehorse stables
- O8042HJalisonh (10/5): Comfortable Country Inn with excellent food. - Really enjoyed our overnight stay at this country inn. It has a relaxed, laid back vibe. Comfortable room, we stayed in Welford Park and enjoyed a large walk in shower, good quality toiletries and towels. Crisp, white bedlinen and a comfortable bed. Good selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate. Cozy feel in the dining room with leather clad seats and welcoming ambiance. The evening meal was excellent quality and well presented. We started with the sharing bread board then had seared beef rump steak served with pesto and a rocket and parmesan salad with pine nuts and skinny chips. The steak was tender and tasty, generous parmesan in the salad and crisp, tasty chips. My husband enjoyed a rack of lamb which was also delicious. Breakfast was spot on with a choice of cold meats, cheese, freshly cut fruit, cereals, museli, yoghourt and fruit juice. Followed by a splendid full English, all well cooked and tasty. There was a full range of other cooked alternatives which all looked good. Staff were attentive and pleasant. We will definitely return and would recommend The Queens Arms.
- Andrew (6/5): Lovely place, great food, but too much light - Friendly welcome, great location, very good food, the breakfast was up with the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. The let down for me was that the room had been designed with no attention to what actually helps sleep. The curtains failed to block the light from the car park lighting and once that was turned off, there were LEDs on everything, no need to turn the room light on to see to move. I tried unplugging everything I could get to but one LED remained, a green one in the ceiling over the door - I assume an attempt to show the exit. After an hour or so of being disturbed by it, I found something sticky, the tab that held the soap wrapper on and stuck it over the LED. This reduced the brightness from solar to maybe bearable. It reminded me that I must take electrical tape with me when I travel.

- Anitanewworld (10/5): Stunning honeymoon suite with lovely finishing touches. - The wishing well suite was beautiful, everything had been thought of from the mini bar to candles and bath oils for the whirlpool bath. Very clean with lots of toiletries and plenary of towels. The room felt spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Would most definitely stay here again.

We arrived at 4pm to a warm welcome from the staff and headed to our room called Blenheim. The room was very comfortable with a gorgeous bed, a large bathroom complete with roll top bath tub, rainfall shower, lovely smelly toiletries and a gold-plated loo. Which we thought was ace; it’s not every day you see one of those! The room had all the things you’d expect - TV, fast wifi, plug sockets near the bed, iron, hairdryer, and the largest selection of teas and coffees we’ve ever seen. We had booked dinner for 7pm so proceeded to head downstairs to the bar where we tried a few of the local ales. The bar staff were really welcoming and kept an eye on when our pints were running low - great service. The Six Nations was in full swing (ENG v IRL) so the place was alive with locals too. We headed back to our room to get ready for dinner, and we were not disappointed. Again, the service was impeccable. And the food was sensational. We enjoyed a great steak and one of the nicest beef pies I’ve ever tasted. All paired with a great Malbec. After a sound night’s sleep and a morning soak in the tub while enjoying the morning sunshine, we went down for breakfast. Again, we couldn’t fault the service and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Really tasty food. They obviously have an excellent chef in the kitchen. But it’s the smallest of details that sometimes mean the most, such as when we requested another pot of tea at breakfast that they remembered we like it strong with two teabags per pot. Admittedly, we chose to stay here as we were visiting nearby (White Horse Hill, and then Welford Park for the snowdrops) but moreso because we had seen the place on an episode of Four in a Bed and thought the pub and hotel had come across really well on the TV show. We thought it should have won the contest. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again one day for some good old-fashioned great hospitality. Perhaps when we come down to Garstonbury in the summer.

The bar staff were really welcoming and kept an eye on when our pints were running low - great service. The Six Nations was in full swing (ENG v IRL) so the place was alive with locals too. We headed back to our room to get ready for dinner, and we were not disappointed. Again, the service was impeccable. And the food was sensational. We enjoyed a great steak and one of the nicest beef pies I’ve ever tasted. After a great night’s sleep and a morning soak in the tub while enjoying the morning sunshine, we went down for breakfast. Again, we couldn’t fault the service and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Really tasty food. They obviously have an excellent chef in the kitchen. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again one day for some good old-fashioned great hospitality.
- Andy (10/5): - As a pet friendly pub it was fantastic to have this man's best friend with me. A couple of muddy paw prints were waved away with a "Don't worry, they will dry and come up with the hoover." To top it off, I dropped some cash in the car park and Tanya is keeping it safe for me.

The staff, especially our waitress was young but very professional. Food great and of lovely quality. Shame no calves liver but hey ho, maybe next time, please.

The risotto (ÂŁ20) had ice cream decoration - need I say more?! The Cajun Chicken Burger (ÂŁ17) was enjoyed however.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and attentive. My room was really comfortable and relaxing. I will definitely return.

- Craig (10/5): - What a lovely place! We upgraded and had the room with a large spa bath. I would recommend that for anyone who is staying for a leisurely stay as the bath is amazing! The rooms are a good size, has all the amenities and clean. The attached pub has a good selection of food, and everything we had was really good. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast was really tasty. Overall it would be unfair to give less than a 5 as everything was amazing and lived up to, or surpassed, our expectations. Highly recommended
- Declan (10/5): Good all round - Stayed here for work for 2 weeks. Ideal location and reasonably priced. We had a room called Suny Bay, plenty big enough and clean enough for our stay. The bar staff Olly, Carly, Amy & Adrienn were fantastic during our stay, very friendly and accommodating. Bar is lovely and food is decent, especially the Cajun chicken burger. If I were to pick on anything it would be the breakfast, we had full English every day for the first week and each day the portion sizes were different, never the less the breakfast was nice.

The pub has a great atmosphere and the accommodation is modern, clean and smart. All the staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The restaurant staff in the evening were especially good with great service. The food was also very good. Diner and breakfast were both very enjoyable. Overall we had a great stay!
- PennHouse87 (10/5): Wonderfully warm in every way. - My wife and I enjoyed a cracking weekend at the QA end of January - we took our dogs too, and even they were given a warm welcome. The atmosphere in the pub was lively and relaxed: we chatted away with staff and locals like old mates - a really cosy vibe in fact, and the food was def a proper notch or two above 'pub grub' - we even cancelled plans to visit mates for dinner on the Sat and got them to join us at the pub instead. The room was a bit too hot on arrival, but we just opened a window adjusted the temp when we went for dinner and that sorted it by the time we went to bed. Also nice and clean and comfy. Great room. Great pub.
- 36mariej (6/5): Cosy but not luxury - Stayed in the Wishing Well. Lovely room, quite dark and not so sure about the dark chintzy wallpaper but certainly different! Fabulous large Jacuzzi bath with some nice complimentary essential oils. Lovely comfy bed, although duvet was a bit on the heavy side. The best possible view ever - horses :) Very nice breakfast, staff friendly, attentive and professional. Meal in the restaurant in the evening was average (mine was very good (fish) and my husband's was not so great (pie). Cleanliness was poor in the room. Thick low level dust everywhere and I accidentally spilt some water on the bathroom floor, when I mopped it up with a bit of tissue I was horrified to see how dirty the floor was! Expected better than this for a luxury room with a high price tag.

- 650gavinp (10/5): Tranquil Village Life - I loved the quiet upstairs room. No noise from the car park or pub that I could hear. Beautiful view of horses and a tranquil village. The lighting was probably the best ever. Switches at door and bed. Plenty of light for reading. The bathroom light has a blue glow for about 5 minutes, I suppose so you can find your way to bed. Passage lights are off normally but respond to movement well. Bed is comfortable and kettle and coffee supplies left nothing to be desired.
- kyrajaines (2/5): Ruined my wedding day - The owner of this pub absolutely ruined my wedding day. We had a small wedding at the registry office with a meal after at the queens arms. We originally planned to stay in the garden room all night but my sister had surprised us with hiring a hall. My sister is not from the area so when she had an idea of doing something special she rang the pub to see what they could do. The staff at the pub said to speak to the owner who could give her the details of a hall nearby. My sister spoke to the pub several times about the day and what she had planned. My best friend even went in that morning and spoke to the staff so they would have all been aware of the plans. My husband paid for the room fee for all day even though we only had our meal there. When my friend went back later that evening to collect some platters she was belittled and humiliated when the owner started shouting at her telling her that they had lost money because they were had left. My friend then had a panic attack in her car after as she was all by herself. When my husband raised this issue via email it was all blamed on my sister saying that she should've made the pub aware of our plans. They clearly did know because they gave her the recommendation for the hall. I will absolutely NOT EVER return and this is one of the memories from my wedding day. I urge people not to go here unless they want abuse shouted at them by the owner. All the bar staff and he's and Tanya who both myself and my sister arranged the day with were absolutely brilliant and it's such a shame it was ruined by A vile human being that happened to be the owner.
- megsD1123FH (2/5): ABSOLUTELY APPALLING - The owner of this pub Freddie thought it was acceptable while drunk to shout and intimidate a young female in the bar area of the full pub while she was alone. Both the barman and the head chef (Damien and Dave) apologised on his behalf accepting that his behaviour was outrageous and that he had in fact been out shooting and drinking all day. I will ensure to tell everyone we know in the village and surrounding areas about our encounter with Freddie and the pub, as will all 30 guests we had dining in pub. We will also encourage everyone NOT to visit The Queens Arms for any large functions as this is how the owner has decided to treat paying guests ON THEIR WEDDING DAY. Damien and Dave, if you see this- thank you for all your help along with the other bar staff / waitresses for everything you did on the night and for looking after us all so well. It’s such a shame that Freddie acted the way he did as we was all extremely happy with the service we received prior to this incident taking place.
- Ian (10/5): Totally exceeded expectations, food is to die for. - We loved our stay mostly because the pub is outstanding. The food is really special, best meal we've had for quite some time and the service was excellent. The restaurant is very nice with tasteful decor and a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was also very nice and once again, very attentive and professional waiting staff. Our room was good, clean and with a very comfortable bed. The tea and coffee making facilities were standard. The view was lovely (picture attached). It was very quiet. The bathroom was ok but could really do with a little updating. It has a shower over the bath and to reach in to switch it on you either had to soak yourself or the floor. There was some black mould around the bath which is really easy to get rid of with a bit of bleach. It was a tiny bit disappointing, but only a tiny bit. I would go back again in a heartbeat for the food and the pub. Makes me tempted to move to the village!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good overnight stay - The Queens Arms was a very nice over night stay the staff were all very good especially the manager and the food was very tasty from evening meal to morning breakfast the only problem which was of no fault of the hotel was a very annoying loud American lady who seemed to want the whole restaurant to hear everything she was talking about and boy could she talk she didn’t stop for breath to the extent us and the man sitting next us cut short our meals just to get some peace from her!

I cannot fault any aspect of our stay and would like to stay in this room again when we rebook for a return visit in November if at all possible please.
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable upmarket pub/restaurant - Comfortable bed. Good shower. Excellent breakfast. Very lively atmosphere in the restaurant! Insufficient car parking. Our room Bluebells faced directly onto the exit and car park and was noisy until late evening when everyone had left the pub/restaurant. Ironically I had requested a quiet room! A final bill issue where 10 percent had been added to the whole bill (room and meal) was rectified when I queried the additional sum requested. Overall I will use again and hopefully none of these negative aspects will be repeated.

- Charlotte (10/5): Absolute gem with free breakfast - Check-in was a bit hectic due to a crazily busy event after apparently the biggest horse race of the year, but still the host was friendly, and check in was easy. He apologised for the noise but once in the room we couldn’t hear it in the slightest. Lovely room, bigger than expected. Comfy bed, great shower. Couldn’t hear people in the next rooms, but loud corridor/floorboards. Fantastic breakfast included. Absolutely delightful, really hope to stay again.

Located in a really beautiful little village only 15 minutes from Hungerford and the M4. Room, food and drink prices reasonable by today’s standards so good VFM. The only negative was that our room White Horse seemed to be above a main door, so there was a constant thump from below until closing time.
