I had the most amazing bubble bath and used the lounge area too which was great. The meal lovely, the best course by far was the scallops but all dishes were well balanced and tasty! The wine flight was also good and most of the wines paired very well with the courses. Breakfast the next day was fantastic, great produce and cooking. The bed was a little small and soft. The decor in the restaurant was a bit mixed up. The breakfast conserves could have been local but they weren't.

- Martin (9/5): Fabulous Boutique restaurant with superb rooms. - We have stayed at 1863 several times and it is always amazing, our room was a little on the small side, room 3, but it was the only one available so other option. The bed was lovely and comfy, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. We stayed for dinner and had the 3course menu, the food is amazing, fresh, local and very flavoursome although a little over priced for the area, but it was still superb. Staff are amazing also and were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again. The food is spectacular, but is slightly on the high side for this area, that being said the quality and taste was excellent.

- Julie (9/5): Lovely BnB in Pooley Bridge with excellent restaurant. - The location of Pooley Bridge is beautiful on the edge of the Ullswater lake. The room (a little small) but was described as cosy was lovely. The breakfast was delicious. We also dined in the restaurant for our evening meal which was excellent. The staff were all attentive and the service excellent. If anything, the restaurant was next to a road which was a little noisy first thing, but I was aware of this when booking and didn’t affect our stay.

We coped easily

Curtains and blind meant that the room was lovely and dark which meant a good nights sleep in a very comfy bed. Had the taster menu which was faultless and fantastic. Breakfast was just right. All in all a very enjoyable evening and we hope to be back.

However I did receive phone call on day of booking to inform me of this.

I would have loved to stay in one of the suites but sadly they were beyond our budget. Nice tea and coffee in the rooms. Breakfast was nice. It was a pity the room didn’t have a bath. That said it was the best and nicest shower I’ve had in a hotel! We both thought the late check in and early checkout was a bit disappointing as we would have liked to have enjoyed our one night stay more (it was a special occasion) we felt a bit rushed.

Would have liked a bath after a long walk, but the bathrooms were very clean. We had a drink in the restaurant area, which was pleasant. Breakfast was very good - fresh and good quality ingredients. Parking was available. Could have done with an outside area to sit during the day - there is one at the back of the property, but we weren't able to use it.

The staff were extremely nice and very helpful, and were quick to accommodate for anything that was needed. Thank you for giving my parents a great time!

- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely welcome by staff and were shown to our room immediately. We stayed in a suite and it was really spacious, modern decor, lovely and clean. The spa toiletries were a lovely touch and smelled amazing! The breakfast was delicious, would 100% recommend. Towels and dressing gowns in the room were a bit rough!

- Helen (6/5): Great food, accommodation not good enough. - Food was excellent. Staff were helpful and attentive. Decor lovely. The room we stayed in for 3 nights was very small and cramped. The wall lighting was too bright making it impossible to achieve low lighting in the room at all. And the room seemed hot, even though we turned off the radiator and opened the window.

- Kevin (10/5): We will be back. - Breakfast was excellent. All staff were very professional and polite. Furnishings in bedroom and dinning room are very tasteful. Signal kept breaking up on the TV in the bedroom. However the weather was very wild and it didn't spoil our stay.

- Daniel (10/5): Great stay at 1863 - Comfortable room and bathroom. Ideal location in Pooley Bridge. Lots of walks nearby. Food was amazing. Staff were great, couldn't have done enough for you. The showers could have been a bit better. Not very powerful. Other than that minor issue, I couldn't fault it.
