Guest Reviews
- William (6/5): Needs a refresh - We stayed for 2 nights. The room was ok, sparsely furnished. Nowhere to put luggage.
The breakfast was good.
- William (2/5): - Arrived at 7:30 pm and no one was there. Only one car in the area, knocked on door, no answer. Looked in unoccupied rooms and they were dirty. After an hour of trying called taxi and Uber, none available. Found a restaurant a half mile walk away and asked if they knew another taxi company, they called and we found a new hotel. Horrible experience.
- Jacques (4/5): - Small and cheap.
- mischa (2/5): - Im zimmer schimmel geruch , moderig.
Bett wahr sauber .
Frühstück schwach
- Karine (8/5): - Chambre très propre et confortable
J’ai Super bien dormi ,l’endroit est calme
Merci pour ce petit moment très agréable
- Daniel (6/5): - Was just a place to sleep . Very limited services transportation and food .
- Yvonne (4/5): - Small rooms, no facilities, expected a kettle and hairdryer,, bar closed in the evenings, breakfast minimal, staff not really pleasant,
- Sylvie (4/5): - Bathroom dirty and No wifi in the room.
Not recommended even if the price is competitive
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Chambre petite, mal insonorisée, humide.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bon accueil chambre propre
Endroit calme
Petit déjeuner correct
- Where_er_ye_go (10/5): Great base, lovely people - Just returned after a stay to visit Normandy and the beaches. Relais Des 3 Pommes is a family run motel in its own grounds with parking and chalet style cabins with a bar/cafe and cafeteria and restaurant. It was clean, friendly and is an easy going kind of place. The bar is popular with locals and when we stayed there were a number of older couples and a school party staying. The rooms are basic but clean linen, good shower, tv, and outside space to sit out. The staff were helpful, hard working and really friendly. We found the pay as you go for breakfast or dinner very accommodating as we did a lot of travelling and it suited us and was local fresh food. There is also a butcher and bakery located alongside. We arrived late so struggled to find it as the sat nav said it was further along the road and the motel lights were off, but we got a warm welcome. Many thanks to Vincent and his wife, Clemence, Stephan and all the staff. We had a lovely stay. A great base to travel across the north and a short walk into Bayeaux. 🇫🇷 ❤️🍷 merci
- Bryan (8/5): - We had a lovely 2 nights here. The room was small but clean. There was a fusty smell in the room, maybe caused by the bathroom having no fan. The bathroom tiles were a bit scruffy, black in places. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, the food was nice and there is a bar area too.
It looks as if this place once had a 2 star rating and 1 has been painted over. For the price this is good value
- LondonWam (4/5): For emergency use only! - This establishment is a motel and all accommodation is at ground level with entry through a sliding patio door. Rooms were tiny with extremely poor ventilation which in 35+ degrees heat was uncomfortable. Ventilation came from leaving a sliding patio door ajar whilst secured with a door chain in a very amateurish manner. The chain was fixed to the wall with screws that were too small and one good tug would have broken the fixing. Very worrying for a lone or nervous traveller and one of our party had a chain that was fixed by only one small screw, the other three being missing and therefore had to sleep in a sealed room with the doors fully closed and with no fresh air which was particularly uncomfortable. The bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and obliging and breakfast was adequate.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - De kamer was erg klein.
- Rolando (8/5): - Costo colazione troppo alto.
- Davis (4/5): - Extremely small place (which is ok), but the rooms had no windows or air conditioning and where like ovens during the summer. Not very clean or well-maintained. Staff spoke basically zero English. They were nice and friendly but could not even get their computer or printer to work. Would never consider coming back!
- Pat (10/5): Like Staying with Family - This quaint motel reminds one of the 1960’s where you pull right up to your room and there’s a cafe in the front run by the same family.
I can’t say enough about how well Vincent and his wife took care of us while we were there. The breakfasts were awesome. We arrived on a Sunday evening and our luggage still had not arrived yet after three days, so Vincent’s wife washed our clothes for us. Good luck getting that service anywhere else.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Bel endroit tranquille.
- IS (8/5): - good enough for one night. Lovely big shower and food was good
- Randa (6/5): Great sower, iffy location. - For France, this is a very reasonably-priced hotel. The room was quite small, the property basic, but it had been updated, including the best shower we have had on this trip. The bed was very comfortable. The only major issue was location. This would be a good option for budget-conscious travellers with a car. Restaurants, bars and tour pick ups are city centre, and there is no bus service. Only options are taxi or 20 minute walk, which was ok without luggage.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend - The motel hotel is in excellent location for all sightseeing around a wide teaching area. Checking in and out exceptionally easy! Room was an excellent base for family of three. Comfortable beds and very clean throughout. Would recommend if you need a good base to be self sufficient, although there is a cafe resteraunt on site.
- Edwin (10/5): Average - Sometimes Motel rooms have a characteristic aroma on entering. This was such a Motel room. Not over unpleasant to us, but I would have thought to some.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Pour petit budget
- johnmK6581IO (8/5): Motel with basic comfortable accomodation - We've stayed at the 3 pommes four times on our motorcycle trips. The motel style accommodation is clean and comfortable if a little basic. The rooms are arranged around the parking areas and have a patio door as the entrance. This can mean that on hot nights there is little ventilation as the door cannot be secured in a way to allow in some air. The upgrades to the shower room has improved that area to a good standard. The staff are friendly and approachable and there is a restaurant and bar on the site. Breakfast can be ordered and you can get coffee and drinks from the bar. There is a little area outside your room where you can sit and relax, we like it and would stay again if visiting Bayeux. It is possible to walk into the town via the river Aure which is a nice green corridor that comes out beside the river at the Tourist Office, the friendly man on reception will give directions. That's another thing we like about Relais de 3 pommes and it's on the Avenue Winston Churchill so easy to find without having to drive through Bayeux.
- Glovern (6/5): Could do with a bit of a spruce up - Location for Bayeaux and the Normandy beaches is perfect. Shops and bar are with in walking distance including an artisan bakery - yum. The room was small but adequate, some reviews I read beforehand said they were grubby but I think they are just a bit dated. Very comfy bed and it was nice and cool although there was no air conditioning. The bathroom was small but functional. I didn't like the two microwaves in the common area, one of which looked like someone had burn their dinner and melted the front, the other had not been cleaned for a while. Staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us directions for walking into town and seeing the son et lumier in the evening. We had breakfast in the morning which was continental style with croissants straight out if the oven and fresh coffee which I thought was quite good value for money. I would think about using the motel again but only overnight, two at the most
- Verified traveler (6/5): - For the price in the area it was all right. Two negatives are a smelly bathroom and slow Internet. The staff was a positive.
- Eileen (8/5): A very good place to stay. - This is a very convenient and economical place to stay. There is a picturesque and easy path to walk to the old town. It's about a half mile. The room was basic, the bed comfortable and was very clean. The setting is green and inviting. The breakfast was good and ample. Because I was on an extended trip I liked that they would do my laundry for a fair price and return it the same day. It also has some areas to enjoy the outside. I felt very safe and welcome.
Localização: bem próximo a Bayeux.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was just an overnight stay but it was sufficient for our needs. For the price it was great. When we checked in the people were very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bon restaurant
Toilettes privatifs (agréable)
Chambres agréables
- Ilene (10/5): Great overnight stay with friendly staff. - Everything was good. Friendly staff, comfortable accommodation with an excellent shower and good value eating. This is a motel with free parking outside the room and dinner and breakfast buffet style. Really good value.
- canvascameradiaries (6/5): Okay place to stay.. - We stayed here while doing 2 day Normandy trip in Sept 2017. The place is okay to stay if one is not too finicky about luxury. Hotel is very basic with a self service restaurant, free parking and free wifi. Wifi wasn't great but manageable. Rooms are VERY small (given that it is not a big town) and bathrooms are cramped with no ventilation. Restaurant is fairly cheap with local food buffet but nothing much for vegetarians, but then you are in rural France.
You need to have a car if you plan to stay here as I did not see any public transport in the area and seemed a bit away from the normal hustle bustle of the town. The hotel located at ideal distances from 4 out of the 5 D-day beaches. Utah is a bit far, further westwards.
We visited the D-day beaches and Mont Saint-Michel from here.
- David (8/5): Good budget stay - This is budget option that is good for a short stay at a relatively low cost. Easy automated check-in process, even though we arrived late after the front desk was closed. Good breakfast that is convenient to the rooms. Unfortunately, it appears our room had bed bugs as two of our family had dozens of bites after our two-day stay. If it weren't for that, I would recommend this hotel, however due to the cleanliness issue I would not.
- carrieandgary (10/5): Will visit again - The rooms are clean although basic but if you want a Base while you explore bayeux and the Normandy beaches it's a great place to get your head down. The only improvement I would suggest it a kettle and mugs in the rooms would be great. Breakfast is a lovely selection of ham, cheese, yogurts, fruit and cereals and fresh croissants and jams. You have shops and restaurants all within a five minute walk. The staff are lovely and polite.
- SandraE1476 (4/5): Freindly staff shame about the accommodation - Very basic . Room not ready on arrival . Room very small shower room very small that you could only just fit one person in . When we came to have a shower no hot water so moved rooms at 9.30pm this room was better and shower room alot bigger . No tea or coffee making facilities which would have been nice . Owner was helpfully and showed us places of interest would not however stay here again
- johnvB6305RH (10/5): Couldn't wish for better - We scored it ten out of ten. We had everything we required and the shower even had jets.
Host and hostess very friendly and bi lingual. Good Manor House restaurant nearby. Beautiful countryside and very quiet.
- tonyss7 (10/5): Excellent hotel near the Normandy Beaches - I have stayed at the 3 Pommes on several occasions. The hotel is good value for money and the rooms are basic but clean. The centre of Bayeux is a short walk away.
M Rose, the proprietor, is friendly and helpful (particularly when I turned up a week early having misread my diary!).
Recommended for those on a budget.
- 9englishm (10/5): Bayeux - Nice quiet place to stay, friendly staff, and close to lots of things to see and do. Parking was very secured, and the rooms very clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful and gave myself lots of advice to go places.
- giulianod405 (8/5): Bonne location - Tres bien bonne location pour visiter les Plages du debarquement de le jour-j.the location is very good because stays in the city of bayeux, but near the main road to visit the most famous museum of the normandy battle.
- Sheg1965 (8/5): Very friendly - Don't judge a book by it's cover. From the outside this motel looks like any other roadside motel , but inside is a friendly warm atmosphere . The manager spent ages sorting out the wifi to keep us happy . Whilst we played pool and drank beer ! The food was good French cooking . The rooms whilst small were clean and looked like they had recently been redecorated and a newly fitted shower was decent too . Our one night stay was a welcome place to recharge after a nightmare start to our holiday . Thank you
- DJFGMF (6/5): Equivalent to an economy chain hotel. - The location of this hotel is good being in walking distance of the centre of Bayeux. The rooms are small and the shower room "a fibre glass insert". It must be compared to an economy chain in all but the price.
- hawgley16 (2/5): Bad everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! - The prices for hotel rooms are good but the accommodations are awful at any price! My room was about 12'x12' and with nothing but a large sliding door for security. No windows. The bathroom is a small plastic module with a stool, sink and shower and appears to have been put into the room as an after-thought. It leaked onto the room floor continually which, by the way was extremely dirty. And by dirty I mean covered with dirt. The television did not work and the hotel management stated that it would be about three days before anyone could fix it but they appreciated my bringing the problem to them. The bed sheets smelled of excess bleach and there was only a thing blanket provided. there was also supposedly wifi available but it was inoperative. Checkout took 15 minutes as the clerk did not know how to use the checkout software and tried to double charge us. It was a bad experience all the way around and taught me not to always look for the cheapest price. Had I consulted TripAdvisor I never would have stayed here as there are several other negative reviews prior to mine. My mistake!
- N2869XZkarenr (2/5): Do not stay here!! - I got to Bayeux at 2050 on Saturday night and was driving around for over half an hour trying to find the motel. I then phoned them at 2130 to tell them I couldn't find it and was given directions which I then found out were wrong. I still couldn't find it so asked at the Novotel who then gave me correct directions. By the time I got there at 2200 the place was closed, in darkness, no-one answering the phone. I went back to the Novotel to get a room but they were full so I slept in my car. The Relais des 3 Pommes have charged me. I was only an hour late getting there after check in but they knew I was on my way as I couldn't find it, instead of calling me back to see if I was ok they just shut everything. The owner even lied and said he had told me where he had left the keys, I didn't speak to him I spoke to a lady and if he had have left the keys I would have had a bed to stay in rather than my freezing cold car. Very bad experience, especially for a foreign girl travelling on her own.
- ScubadooScubadoo (6/5): Good for the money - Not fancy and reminded me of camping cottages but good value. Breakfast was good in their restaurant. Great location to the Normandy beaches. What particularly impressed me was the offer to save us money on our room rate. When I made the reservation, I needed two rooms, each sleeping two people. They did not have availability for two rooms of the cheapest value so I took one room that was a little more expensive than the other one. But when we checked in, the gentleman actually told us that he actually now had two rooms at the cheaper price and would I like to change to the cheaper room. Of course I said yes. It struck me how honest this was. I don't think any inn in the United States would have made that offer. They would have just kept their mouth shut and took the money. They would not have spoke of that availability. Impressed me a lot.
- bucko1989 (6/5): Ok for a few days - This is actually a motel which is ideally situated on the north-east side of the ring road that surrounds Bayeux. There is plenty of parking close to the rooms. The rooms are very clean but also small. The bathroom was disappointing. There is no actual shower as such. Just a shower hose connected to the taps which you have to hold over you. The staff, however were very friendly and helpful. With a little investment this could be a very good motel.
- JAW776 (6/5): Interesting place - So, I am a bit conflicted about this review. Very basic accommodation...room is small and as others have noted the sliding glass door is the door, and window, and the ventilation. There was no apparent heater/air con, but fortunately, the weather was quite delightful so no issue there. The upside - staff is very friendly, the bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water, the food (both breakfast & dinner) was very good, and the wine likewise good and inexpensive. Last, good wi-fi reception (once we got log-in/password info). Connections/location to explore Bayeux and D-Day British/Canadian Beaches was excellent. So the downsides - rooms badly need an update, both room and bathroom were very small, electric outlets ill-placed (we bought an extension cord so that my wife could use her hair dryer) and no interior sitting area - table & chair outside - but no light outside.
Overall, would I seek the Relais des 3 Pommes out?...probably not. But as a traveler/couple who is/are on a strict budget, it is a satisfactory motel.
