Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff were friendly
The place is beautiful
The room needed some love and updates
The balcony changes every thing
Beautiful lobby clean and social
- Michael (10/5): - Fun atmosphere, friendly staff.
- Harland (6/5): - The staff only spoke Spanish. The breakfast menu did not have prices on card. A normal breakfast was 400 pesos (OK). But a single skewer of banana and pinapple plus coffee was 260 pesos.I was booked for a ten day stay. One night about the fouth day I woke up to about 20 bites on my underarm and top of feet very itchy for about 6 days. IF you turned the fan off at night you had a definite smell of sewer. You had to leave the fan on.The maids did a thorough cleaning only one more bite for the rest of stay.I was on the 3rd floor.I paid 87 dollars Canadian per night. Staff and management was friendly, but would expect better conditions for the money I paid.
- Steven (8/5): - Thumbs up!
- Hakeem (10/5): Lovely hotel - Super awesome place, will go back again
- Andrew (10/5): - This a very well managed property. The accomodations are dated but everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The grounds, restaurant and pool are well kept. It's perfect for a single traveler or a couple.
- William L (10/5): - Amazing
This is simply for our formality
- Ramon (10/5): - Excellent value
- Steven (10/5): - I taken care of very well
- Gerald (8/5): Good Bargain, Distant from Downtown Though - The hotel is beautiful and generally clean. It's location is far from downtown (about 1.5 km) and recessed on the block, which prevents outside noise. My room was fairly clean, though there were various strands of hair around the place. Vacuuming would clean better than sweeping. The entry light bulb was out, so replacing with a working light would be helpful. There is live music on Wednesday nights which go past midnight. The music is good, but it's loud, so if one is looking for a quiet, restful Wednesday night, that won't happen. The staff is responsive and generally accommodating, helping to make for a pleasant visiting experience.
- Naphtali (10/5): - 👍
- soraya (4/5): - We arrivé ay the hotel and hotel tell us that il is full, when we said that we have a réservation through expédia, they close the réservation with expédia from 1/1/2023, after much discussion they found us a roon in another hôtel
- Solar (8/5): Great place - Good quiet place close to
All
The action but far enough for peace
- Jose (10/5): - Excellent hotel
- JEREMY (10/5): - I arrived and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and owner who is also typically on the premises. The hotel, amenities and staff provided great value for the price! I would highly recommend anyone traveling in the area to stay at this hotel.
- douglas (8/5): Great place - This is my go to spot when visiting Sosua. The staff and owners are what makes this place great. The grounds, the pool and the bar are all really nice. The rooms are somewhat outdated but they are big, clean and the AC works great. It is also far enough from the main strip that it is very quiet. For the price it is well worth it.
- Charles (10/5): - Clean friendly staff
- Richard (10/5): - walkable ...pool , room ,restaurant all close by
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner was attemptive and friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and friendly. Food and drinks great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The owner is cool, but the rooms are very dated 70 ish...
- Brian (6/5): - For $50 bucks we can’t complain. Dilapidated hotel/room. Hard bed, very very squeaky .... bartenders and Chef were very nice. BEST MEAL I’ve ever had at a budget hotel.
Caters to Germans ... my girlfriend is Dominican amd they tea
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The service clean room friendly staff great location
- Mary (4/5): - Something strange was definitely going on at this hotel. I witnessed a young (12-14) year old girl Native to the island on the lap of an older white man. There were many women from the island with these older white men who were very rude and disrespectful. Definitely prostitution and (child) sex trafficking going on here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the staff very nice very helpful. The breakfast was great and always fresh lunch and dinner was good jus a little limited but overall a perfect experience.
- Geovani (10/5): Awesome place!! - I went to relax and enjoy the Dominican Republic
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nasty they don’t clean expensive the food no good no es bueno
- Verified traveler (8/5): - lots of fun and located in the great location for walking and access to the downtown area...
- Douglas (10/5): Really great atmosphere and staff. - If you are looking for a place to stay in Sosua do not hesitate to stay here. The hotel owner and his staff are amazing. Friendly, kind and accommodating. The hotels grounds enclosed by wall and buildings is really nice. They have a great tiki bar on the side of the pool with great drink prices and music playing. I Actually did not want to go into town but i needed to eat. The pool is nice with loungers and umbrellas available. There is ample parking on the street The rooms are basic. However they have a minifridge, cold AC, a balcony, plenty of hot water and a safe. Which in Sosua is much better than most hotels. The property is safe. The breakfast was nice and the coffee was good. I have stayed in several locations in Sosua. Again, what makes this place great is the tiki atmosphere and the staff. The only bad thing is downtown is just a little to far for me to walk. However, they closed down half of downtown now. Its only like a 2 minute drive but its always hot in sosua to walk. It is located right across the street from the casino (which is pretty lame.) I will DEFINATELY stay again.
- DR2019 (6/5): - I believe this hotel caters to a certain type of crowd but its still a great hidden jewel. I can only recommend that management works on presentation (sofa, lounge chair in the room) breafast food can be better presented in different manner, have screens or something to keep flies out in the morning. Charging for drinking water....in the dominican republic....where you probably get a case for 400 peso..the toilets need some kind of odor eliminating tank tablets. No matter what you flushed it smelled like death. Save any construction/maintenance repairs to the hours of breakfast maybe 9am-1pm. Most people that stayed up late go to breakfast then back to sleep and they dont want to hear hammering and drilling while they are recovering from a hangover or trying to rest. Lastly, I knew the basics of what was and was not included in my reservation but it would have been nice to get a quick run-down the does and don'ts. I had to ask someone that frequents the hotel but even they were "sworn to secretsy". I had to read between the lines and try to make my own conclusions. I dont like not knowing what is or isnt allowed. In managements defence, Tom bid give me his business card with personal number. He was always around so was Derick. I could have just asked. They are very friendly guys they sit down and eat with you.
Now those are my suggestions. I will go back to Voramar. I did enjoy the freedoms and how friendly management is.
- Juan (10/5): - This property is great. Great service, great hotel. Not loud, very calm with no kids around. Pool áreas is also great. Love this hotel. Clean rooms too. Definitely coming back

- Jrock (10/5): - Checking and check out was a breeze, pleasant stay, friendly staff, breakfast included can't ask for more
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice people here i recommend this place to anybody. staff was awesome work with me in every aspect
- Richard (10/5): - It's all about the people, this hotel has the most friendly and helpful staff in the entire Dominican Republic. Small boutique hotel that genuinely cares about it's customers. And don't forget about the gourmet food. Perfecto!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The common areas in the bar was great. I would definitely come back to this location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is very clean. The staff is very nice. I wood definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love Henk and Tom they manage the hotel professionally and the bartenders are all pleasant and lovely. The food is always cooked to profection and the coffee in the morning is always hot and fresh!!! Thanks guys for another wonderful time in paradise!!! I recommend Hotel Voramar to anyone looking for a affordable clean room in Sosua, DR The pool is always clean and the A/C in the room is always nice and cold, the beds are very comfortable and the atmosphere is always quiet allowing you to think and relax during your vacation. Easily no question a 4 star Hotel!!!
- Miosotys (4/5): - The courtyard is beautiful, the pool is ok, but the rooms OMG dirty bathroom mold all over the tiles, toilet dirty, bedframe olds
In general very dirty place. people smoking even at the restaurant, i guess is a place just for their nationality
- Verified traveler (8/5): - In all it was great! The only thing is the internet is a bit slow and goes in/out. Would of been nice if the waitress would smile a little and don't have go to the side of the kitchen to ask for more pineapples out front.
- joseph (10/5): Nice hotel - Good hotel. Friendly staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is well managed and very accessible to the surrounding town, it’s staff is welcoming and always there if you need something ,hank is the owner he’s always around accessible when you need him ,also the Tom who is the manager is always helpful .overall I would definitely stay at this hotel again ..👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The management is fantastic and the hotel is everything advertised and more. As a hotel owner myself, I would definitely recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Didn’t have load outside street noise. Was casual & welcoming.
- brandon(Miguel) (10/5): - Hi my name is Miguel BRANDO. I’m a frequent visitor to Sosua and I had a fabulous time at Hotel Voramar. Tom the manager is a very nice helpful host and will show you everything on site and answer any questions you may have. The room was immaculate and the bathroom was very clean. The pool view from your room is great and breakfast is delicious in the morning. It’s a friendly quiet vibe and you will love Hotel voromar. There is also a pool table available and a full bar on site. There is WiFi and parking for your pasola and your vehicle. I highly recommend this hotel and I’m a frequent traveler to sosua. I give this hotel 5stars.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you, Tom and Hank for all of your help and advice on activities and getting around. It’s a lovely property and there was a great mix of travellers of all ages and nationalities - solo travellers (like myself), couples, and families. Small enough property that Tom and Hank know everyone by name and the guests have a chance to get to know each other around the pool and in the restaurant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place was very clean and the section we were in was charming. This was Villa Chessa. The mattress could be a little better but we managed.
- Cory (10/5): Voramar Hotel - The stay at the Voramar was very good, the room is a basic room with everything you need its clean, has a/c and fan, hot water, small refrigerator, small flat screen tv with a variety of channels and each room has balcony to relax on. The pool and bar area is great and clean and your stay includes breakfast which helps - great customer service and safe location. I was able to get on the Wi-Fi with no problem. The hotel is on the quiet end of Sosua in the area of Chiquita but its just a 4 min moto ride to the middle of town. I would recommend it.
- Shyy (10/5): - Very relaxing....and love the music , bar and food.. The staff and ower is very kind and friendly always. This hotel is alwalys a great place to stay on my vacation.
