- Ian (10/5): Great small hotel in a lovely location. - Our three night stay was very enjoyable. The room had a contemporary feel and was very well presented. A lot of thought had been put into furnishing the room to make the best use of the available space.
A good choice of food was available at breakfast, nicely cooked and presented. Tintern is a little limited for evening dining so we ate at the hotel each night. The menu had plenty of options, and changed slightly each evening. The food was excellent.

- bruce (10/5): Lovely Inn in this Wye Valley hamlet - We had a lovely two day stay at this quaint country inn in the Wye Valley. It's a short walk to the abbey and close to other beautiful walking paths. The included breakfast was delicious and hearty. A relaxing and peaceful weekend.
- Elaine (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay at this lovely hotel, which is clean as a new pin, offers delicious food and friendly, professional and welcoming staff. A real gem and can’t wait to return.
- DOROTHY (8/5): - Location perfect for a pleasant stop to and from Bristol and Shrewsbury.
- Harvey (10/5): A great Place in the Wye Valley - Great little hotel, with very nice rooms; mine overlooked the front of the hotel, onto the village of Tintern Parva. The owners are very friendly and gave great advice about walking trips in the area. Dinner is available, and a full bar. There's a very good breakfast menu, as well.
- Harvey (10/5): A great Place in the Wye Valley - Great little hotel, with very nice rooms; most overlooking the front of the hotel, onto the village of Tintern Parva. The owners are very friendly and gave great advice about walking trips in the area. Dinner is available, and a full bar. There's a very good breakfast menu, as well.
- Robert (10/5): Cracking hotel in the forest of dean - A great place to stay in Tintern just a mile or so from the Abbet. Beautiful surroundings and nice rooms. Fantastic food in the evening and a breakfast to die for!
- Christopher (8/5): - I recommend room 2. The bedroom was spacious and has a separate lounge with a sink which was very useful. Everything was clean and tidy. The food is excellent. We ate there every night as there seemed little point in searching elsewhere!
There are two cask beers which were both in good condition during our stay. Not surprising as the bar / restaurant area was busy with locals and guests every night. Breakfast excellent too. Relaxing atmosphere. We’ll be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Wye Valley hotel is a lovely place to stay, room was very clean, very comfortable, and the breakfast amazing. All in all a good choice. Would definitely stay again
Any thanks to the staff.
- Michael (8/5): - Very convenient for Tintern Abbey, perfectly acceptable for a short stay, easy parking, good breakfast
- Thomas (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay and the spacious room/bathroom were great. The food is well above average and we especially enjoyed the lamb. Great place to stay while exploring Tintern.
- Vince (8/5): - This is not a modern hotel . More an old pub with rooms . However it has character and the room was to a high standard with a large bed and a bright bathroom . Water pressure from the shower could be better . Owners who made us feel welcome and a bar with a good selection of local drinks . Wholesome breakfast in the morning
- Denise (10/5): - This is a great hotel situated in the village and in walking distance of the Abbey and other activities.
The owners are really friendly and the pub is busy so has a lovely vibe.
Breakfast was great and I heard that they will make up packed lunches if you need them.
Rooms have hair driers and tea and coffee and are really spacious for a cottage hotel.
Would stay again.
- Jane (10/5): Great inn - Very helpful staff who suggested ideas of places to visit. Food excellent and felt as if staff really cared. Great location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice one night stay with breakfast - Nice hotel, lots of choice at breakfast inc full English (or rather Welsh!).
Bin was full of previous guest’s rubbish but hoping that’s a one off.
- Yigal (10/5): - Great hotel ran by a nice couple. Good bar & restaurant. Loved every minute of our stay there.
- john (10/5): - Only one nights stay, en route from Margam back to Plymouth, but would definitely return if in the area. Friendly owners (and staff), comfortable and clean room and en-suite. Welcoming bar for evening meal and interesting dining room for breakfast. A very pleasant, but sadly short, stay. Thank you to all.
- Avril (10/5): Small hotel in lovely, quiet area - Small hotel/pub in a beautiful, interesting area. Loads of parking, good cooked breakfast (with fruits & yoghurts, cereals etc as well). Friendly, pleasant owners & staff. It’s a very short drive or a longer walk to Tintern Village with its shops and magnificent ruined Abbey. Straight across the road by Parva Farmhouse through the churchyard are well marked and maintained footpaths along the banks of the River Wye - well worth exploring. Although the hotel is on the main road, it’s a surprisingly quiet road, so no noise problem there.
My room was super clean with great quality bedding, well equipped with all the essentials, well decorated and light with several windows (as the hotel is the last building on that side of the road, this gave lovely, uninterrupted views of the surrounding hills.). A great stop over and would make a great base for exploring this beautiful & historic area.
- Gill (10/5): - We had a fantastic time. Hotel was clean and comfortable and all the staff were friendly. The food was wonderful and the service was great. Will definitely be back.
- Richard (10/5): Stay if your are in the area - Lovely stay very friendly great position. Nice comfortable room and enjoyed my walk along the river after dinner.
- Andrew (10/5): - Lovely area and people. Dead nice and welcoming and the room was clean and quiet
- mark (10/5): - Hotel flexible in serving breakfast at 7.30.
- Geoff (10/5): Good base for exploring Area - Stayed for one night whilst on our travels. Good value, friendly & helpful owners. Warm, Clean facilities & nice food.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent hotel - We loved our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The food was excellent, especially the breakfast. We're already looking forward to going back.
- John (10/5): Simply excellent - 10 out of 10 stay. Great service, beer, food and good sleep. Will book again.
- Jamie (10/5): Nice hotel - We had a lovely time, had an enjoyable evening meal at our hotel on the 1st night, & when down into the village for the 2 nd evening meal. Breakfast in the mornings was very good A1. We will be returning.

Fantastic Location for Walks. Felt very Relaxed and wish we could stay longer. Highly Reccomend and we will definitely stay again. Jane & Mark. Bristol
- Verified traveler (8/5): 2 Night Break - Lovely refurbed bedroom, friendly and welcoming, rest of the hotel a little dated but overall a good stay with easy access to the river wye for plenty of walking
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A return visit. Friendly place. Good food and beer.
- Robert (6/5): Not as I remember!!! - Ok. Nothing special. Abit run down. Only three people staying in the place and they can’t remember your name. Food lukewarm. Hot food on cold plates!!! I wouldn’t return. Rather have stayed at home!! Freezing cold room until tea time. Not worth £78 per night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it was all very pleasant . a nice room and a good price . anything more would have cost more .
- Sharon (10/5): - Loved our stay here, we were made to feel very welcome. Great room, comfy bed and a beautiful area for walking etc
- Howard (10/5): Excellent place to stay in Wye Valley - Lovely small family hotel in beautiful surroundings.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Hotel great location but a tired worn building poor plumbing. Food good and staff helpful and efficient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely property, great staff and food. Very close to Tintern Abbey
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great for a weekend away. Barry, Sue and Grace are all welcoming. Would like to go back in the future to do some sight seeing
- Russell (8/5): Olde Worlde Charm. - I was shown to my room, rather than told where it is like a lot of hotels. The room looked in good order and had everything I needed for my stay. A nice touch was some pieces of flapjack left with the refreshments.
The room was a fair size and had tea / coffee facilities, a tv and the usual furnishings. The en suite was adequate and appeared again fairly recently modernized.
The bar is an olde worlde place with lots of old paraphernalia such as bottles of beer, tankards and juhs etc all adding to the charm. The was a nice variety of food on offer for evening meal which I thought was very good, lots of local produce. There was also a couple of local ales on tap which I would also recommend.
Being very tall the bed had a footboard which was slightly annoying but if you are of normal size this wouldn't bother you. There was road noise as all the rooms appear to be facing the road. Overnight it did quieten down but then fairly early it started up again.
Breakfast was just as tasty as my evening meal again with local produce although it normally starts at 8am earlier can be arranged.
Would I visit again, yes. I thought the hosts were friendly and the facilities met my needs.
- Mark (8/5): Good traditional hotel and great service - Owners have been very clever in their efforts at recent refurb. Good use of space to put bathrooms in the rooms, gives a really nice room with everything you need.
Nice traditional inn style hotel in a quiet but beautiful part of the country. Lovely walks by the river and fairly quiet road, but very accessible.
Food was nice and the welcome is excellent.
I’d recommend for business or pleasure
- Chris (10/5): Nice place - Spent a couple of days in this hotel Great hotel and good location to explore the area. Barry and Sue were excellent hosts
- Pete (10/5): Friendly family-run hotel - We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel thanks to the personal touch of the owner and staff. The room was roomy and comfortable, and the food and drink were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the Wye Valley beer! The staff were friendly and obliging, even providing little extras to accommodate my culinary tastes. In short, highly recommended.
- David (10/5): Really good hotel in a lovely location - Most enjoyable stay - very good room, friendly, welcoming and helpful staff and most enjoyable food. We will be back
- Stephen (10/5): - Right on the main road but surprisingly quiet at night.
Menu in the bar quite limited but actually very tasty.
- frank (10/5): very warm welcome - excellent 2 night stay. very warm welcome on arrival, rooms very clean and spacious
with coffee and tea facilities. Wifi excellent
breakfast included could not be faulted, evening meals either in the restaurant or the very welcoming bar were very good and very reasonably priced.
Idealy situated for either Chepstow or racecourse and not too far to Monmouth.
All in all would certainly stay again and thats not something we generally do
- Sandra (10/5): Nice traditional old hotel. - Pleasantly surprised for the cost. Comfortable bed, and the bath a bonus. Nice evening meal in front of the fire. Attentive staff. Beautiful area.
- Yousouf (8/5): Tintern work stop. - Good base for my work in Chepstow, as well out of the noisy tourist hub, although still paying Chepstow rates for accommodation! Great home cooked food, especially the steak and the puddings - stick to the home made ones and the ice cream is wonderful. Great to see Kippers on the menu too at brekka!
