- Kristýna (9/5): Great stay in the nature - Very close to the ferry stop, great breakfast. Very clean. Toilet is included inthe room, shower is shared. Beautiful place and you can borrow bikes for a fee, and you can pay with card.
- Annaleena (7/5): Vandrarhem level accommodation but above hotel level price - For a vandrarhem it was of okay. The breakfast basket was okay. Best part was the customer service which was friendly and nice. Price. This became by far the most expensive accommodation, but at the same time the lowest quality accommodation, of our 6 people 5 day trip in the skärgården.
- Jean (9/5): Lovely location, friendly welcome, a very comfortable stay - Staying at the hostel was a lovely experience. Comfortable, clean rooms and with the availability of a shared cosy dining and sitting area in an adjacent building. The island location is very special.
We got off the ferry at the wrong place but were very kindly assisted with our bags- thank you again!
We pre-ordered breakfast which was also very nice.
- Mitani (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andrew (3/5): Liked Svartsö but felt completely ripped off in this apology for a hotel/hostel. - Location was pleasant enough, but no facilities nearby. Nice woodland setting. Our booking was for a hotel room with bathroom and breakfast. When we got there our beds were not made up and we had to collect bed linen and make beds ourselves. No staff for check in so couldn't query this. The room was tiny and extremely basic as was bathroom. Breakfast next morning was fine but not at all clear what was included. You had to guess. When we came to pay the bill was much larger than expected as we were charged extra for breakfast and linen. We challenged this and were told we had made a mistake and only booked a hostel room without linen and breakfast. I knew I had not but staff were not at all helpful or sympathetic. I knew there was a choice between hotel room inc breakfast and hostel room and quite specifically booked the former. However I was told if I had booked a hotel room (which would have been the same room) the cost would be nearly €200 per night. This would have been an absolutely crazy price for a dreadful tiny room and the same price per night as we had just paid for the excellent 4 star Sandhamn Hotel the night before. These are definitely ridiculous prices and not at all worth it and the booking system is clearly mis-leading. This is the only place to stay on the island and the owners obviously take unfair advantage of this.
- Bm (9/5): Superb - Very nice location, lovely staff & atmosphere! Expensive for what it offers (very simple room with a shared toilet and kitchen). If we had had the STF membership, which gives a discount for the booking, the value for money would have been better!
- Fenna (9/5): Superb -
- Robb (10/5): Absolutely beautiful peaceful respite with amazing staff - Beautiful area nestled in the trees with glimpse of water and boats. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating to our needs. Was a fabulous mini escape from city.
- Ward-smith (9/5): Fantastic stay, will hopefully be back some day. Calm, quiet, beautiful escape from the city. - Breakfast was nice however there were no gluten free options, which would have been good.
The staff were super helpful and friendly too, which made a big difference as English speaking tourists.
We loved the island and especially riding on the bikes. Perhaps it would be a good idea to build the bike hire into the Accomodation package, because renting the bikes daily is expensive. No gluten free breakfast options.
The pillows weren’t great, could have had 1 firmer pillow for sleeping.
The price to rent the bikes was too expensive especially if you just wanted to go to the shop!
The tap water really tasted bad, there is perhaps a bacterial overgrowth in the water and it tasted and smells like gas. On the other side of the island, the water tasted better. We thought there was an actual problem with the water at the hostel.
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional - The place is amazing! And the staff is very friendly and helpful
- Oscar (8/5): Very good -
- Omar (9/5): Heaven on earth. 7h00 - Svartsö is a corner of heaven that's fallen on earth. The stf hostel is a good place to explore this little island by bike, hiking, sailing or even swimming. It's functional, located 1 minute from the ferry dock. Bring your own food (or you'll have to eat frozen dinners found on location, book them to guarantee). They have bikes, but the nearest (and only) shop is 20 minutes away. One of the rooms we got was a bit smelly, as if it hadn't been properly aired and the water wasn't run. After doing that the problem was solved. So no big deal.
- Tessa (9/5): Superb - great nothing
- Roderick (8/5): Very good -
- Torbjörn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joonas (9/5): A perfect island get away - The service was something extra ordinary. They offered to pick us up from the harbor and we got access to the room a lot before the official check in time. We got even a late check out. The breakfast was really nicely put and according to our allergies. We got recommendations about what to do on the island. Everybody was really nice and service minded. Nothing to complain about.
- Lawrence (10/5): A truly delightful and memorable place to visit - A fantastic place, so near the ferry terminal to make it very easy. Wonderfully helpful staff and lovely breakfast available. Easy to use bikes to get to the shop which is great fun to cycle to. We used bike trailers for children. Also the communal kitchen is great and well stocked with equipment and plenty of room. The lunch packs and salads available were also great!
Svartsö is a beautiful place to visit and great to try some where a little further out from Stockholm though only 2.5 hours on the ferry. Please be mindful of ticks on the island - we had a bite in our family but this was handled very well and helpfully by the staff at the accommodation.
- Hidde (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Markus (8/5): Very good -
- Giovana (10/5): Great B&B option to enjoey beautiful Svartsö! - Confortable beds and sheets, great hot shower, very nice breakfast and friendly crew. The common area and kitchen are very useful and the surroundings beautiful. It’s minutes away from the Norra Svartsö dock and if necessary they have a transfer to another dock on the island. Cozy and a great option to stay comfortably at the archipelago. Black-out shades could be an upgrade for those who prefer to sleep in near to total darkness, as in the summer the sun goes down very late.
- Alison (8/5): Enjoyable, well-maintained and nice island retreat - It is exactly what you would expect: a getaway on a remote island. The cabins are not luxury, but they are clean and have everything you need. In the main space, there's a communal kitchen, a small shop for ice cream and coffee, and good breakfast available. It's a short walk to the jetty, where you can also swim into the sea. We walked back to this place right after a swim - 5 minutes! We also chilled out in the lounge a few times. You can rent bikes. All of this made it extremely easy to enjoy the time there! Well, one of the bikes had dodgy breaks, so they actually failed as I was cycling downhill. I was not seriously injured, was all totally fine except for a bruised ego because of the little fall, but I would say: if you are not a very experienced cyclist, check the bike you pick from their selection! But this is seriously not a reason to avoid the place. I would still recommend it.
- Brian (10/5): An absolutely adorable spot to stay on svartso. - Adorable property. The ability to use a kitchen was wonderful. The woman running the front desk was very helpful in making sure we enjoyed our island stay. Bring an eye mask in the summer. Sunrise is early and the door has a frosted window on it. It’s a lovely way to wake up with natural light but if you want to sleep in a little, shift your head or bring an eye mask.
- Luca (9/5): Superb - The location is charming, very close to the sea and the ferry stop of Norra Svartsö. The hostel is simple and clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful; guests have a large kitchen and dining area indoors and tables and grill facilities outdoors. Bedrooms are essential but clean, and the beds are comfortable. We loved the fact that dogs are welcome. The island is calm and ideal for long walks and swimming in the lake and the sea. The bathroom was ok; it was generous in size but could do with a refresh.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Candy (8/5): Very good -
- Julia (8/5): Very good -
- Mats (9/5): Superb -
- Barnaby (8/5): A peaceful oasis in the archipelago - Great location on a beautiful island. The room was comofrtable and the public spaces and breakfast were excellent Had a bit of trouble checking in, maybe we were early.
- Neo (8/5): While only two nights, our stay was very nice. The archipelago islands are beautiful. - Breakfast was good and very ample. Location was wonderful. Our room on the end of the building/wing was next to the sewer processor tank. When the air was blowing our way the smell was not good. Our next door neighbor had a noisy dog.
- Jamie (8/5): Good. - Breakfast was excellent, the manageress advised me that my ferry had departed early, and then drove me to another ferry stage to catch an alternative boat. Very kind of her. The bicycle that I was given to use had poor brakes, they steeled badly every time I used them. It needed maintenance.
- Zoe (8/5): Very good -
- Pauline (8/5): Nice, clean and friendly archipelago hostel to enjoy a relaxing weekend out in nature - Very nice location, you really get the most of being out in nature in the Stockholm archipelago. Beyond clean facilities and very well furnished kitchen
- Rihab (7/5): Good -
- Mio (8/5): Very good -
- Maraia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kylie (9/5): Superb - The host, Lotten, was so lovely! Outstanding at communication, providing accurate information and making suggestions for our stay. I am so glad we visited in winter, it was so beautiful, peaceful and easy to explore.
- Tomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jemmy (9/5): Excellent, would definitely come again. - Breakfast is amazing. Loved the variety. I liked the shower facilities and having bikes available for rental. Everything was clean and staff were attentive.
- Christian (7/5): Good - nice little room, hotel in the middle of the forest not able to get breakfast before 8:30 - we had to leave before to catch a ferry
- Nathan (9/5): we’d love to come back here again to enjoy the tranquil setting and the long summer nights. - such an idyllic setting. the staff were very helpful and friendly. this summer was unusually hot, so the rooms got toasty without AC.
- Lars (5/5): Passable - Location is wonderful The bed was full of insects, bed-bugs. I was bitten over 50 times in one night.
- Ullisullis (8/5): Very good - Really good location, beautiful outside areas and fab breakfast. Also really family friendly if travelling with children. One of the larger islands in the archipelago with a couple of restaurants/bars and a shop. Nothing!
- Anonymous (9/5): the island takes you to a conservation feel whilst the hostel keeps you comfortable and happy - the hostel very much tuned into a conservation island
- Andreas (9/5): Basic accommodation in a very good location on a nice island - Great location on a very nice island and only 2min to the boat stop.
Room was very clean.
Staff was very friendly. The room is very basic and not the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.
Room is very bright, no drape for the small 'door window'. Could not have slept without sleeping mask.
The room was rather noisy, easy to here the other guests.
- Kimberly (9/5): Lovely, good surroundings . . . Cozy, clean, comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! Loved out stay! - Rooms are quite small . . . Bathroom was super large!
- Alessandra (9/5): Superb - Location and breakfast
