Guest Reviews
- JulesDomanski (8/5): Beautiful oasis of calm in Midrand - Beautiful gardens, really friendly and welcoming staff and owner, loved the balcony with views of the garden. Absolutely loved the two Great Danes who were so friendly and well behaved! Some of the fixtures and furnishings in the room were a little tired and dusty, but nothing really off putting!

- Darren (1/5): Dirty dungeon. - Beautiful gardens and the breakfast was good. Dirty, dingy, smelly and old. No internet for most of the night and no one to help.
- Zingisa (10/5): -
- C Maartens (10/5): -
- Siobhan (3/5): Couldn't wait to leave. The photos overestimate the quality of this accomodation - The grounds in summer would be lovely The owner Bertha has a vicious hard nature. She treats her staff with minimal respect in front of guests. Behind closed doors I imagine she is a bully. Staff have no voice. My 7 yr old even commented on the tone with which she snapped at cleaning, waitrons and kitchen staff. Rooms are old fashioned, dated and dark. Rooms are cold. Heaters on the walls broken. Leaking tap. No rubbish bags in bins, no wood for the fire, no hand soap in the bathrooms no working wifi . When we asked if there were lighter or warmer rooms, we were told if we used the gas we would need to replace the canister. If you want something cheap - cheap quality and cheap service is what you'll receive. Bertha - if you want your B& B to thrive-treat people as you wish to be treated and invest in modernizing your interiors and focusing on quality. People feel your energy and it is not welcoming
- Lisa (1/5): I booked there as I was graduating to be close to venue, in the evening I realised I forgot something and needed to uber - Nothing as I got to experience a very rude host.. The host very rude and unprofessional. Dirt rooms with carpets and spider webs..doors need to be fixed as they are ancient..

- Brenton (10/5): This guest house is your perfect home away from home while visiting Johannesburg. - Great location, extensive gardens, very caring host. N/A
- Allan (8/5): - Very good breakfast Could have had DSTV, not relying on customer having signed up for streaming.
- Hlumisa (5/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): Very nice in a lovely setting - Personal attention
- Boitumelo (5/5): - Its a nice place They did not have water. And they have big dogs and the group I was travelling with one of them was terrified of dogs.
- Lekgale (1/5): My stay at that guesthouse was horrible. I went there to have a good time but unfortunately that did not happen. - The place is beautiful and very clean. The guesthouse have big dogs of which am scared of. To make matters worse, the owner was very rude. I complained about the dogs and she said “ I am running a business here am not here to nurse your feelings regarding my dogs, you shouldn’t have booked here “ I couldn’t leave my room because I was scared of the dogs. I couldn’t eat breakfast that I paid for because of the dogs. I didn’t enjoy my stay at all because of the dogs. The owner is racist and if she mentioned on her page that they have dogs I wouldn’t have booked there but they did not mention. I couldn’t walk around the guesthouse or rather sit at the pool because the dogs were everywhere. I am scared of dogs and just because she loves dogs according to her we must all love dogs. I had to ask one gentleman to walk with me to the gate to fetch my food because I couldn’t walk there alone because of the dogs. She told that man to stop protecting me from the dogs because they don’t bite. That was my first and last time there.

- deidre (9/5): Great option - Spacious & clean Being there for such a short while
- Hal (8/5): Fantastic people, beautiful gardens, pool and accommodation. - Most beautiful Cottage set in amazing gardens!!! There wasn’t anything!!
- Cenéa (8/5): Our new go-to. - There were a few hiccoughs with the checking in the first and second time, which were largely eclipsed by the owner's immediate action to remedy them.
It is blatantly obvious Bertha takes immense pride in the establishment, and has the drive to ensure all guests have the best experience. She's quite hard, but once you get used to that, she's cool. We had many a chat, and she even waved us off. She asked us to let her know when we arrived in KZN, but we were exhausted and forgot. She even graciously moved us to a unit for a fence for our dogs.
Breakfast was incredible. Seriously a spread, and feels like you're at a restaurant. No sad shrivelled bacon in this establishment.
Our suite was excellently set up and fully kitted - both times. We even found a french press and dainty ornamental dishware. There was even Tabard for mosquitoes on the nightstand. That, and a trinket tray for earrings and bangles. That's truly thinking about the lodger.
Shower pressure - excellent. You don't even need to pack shower gel, shampoo or conditioner.
Most of all, don't mess with Bertha's stuff. She's got two Great Danes, but let me tell you, she doesn't need them. And frankly, that's just common decency on the lodgers part.
Great stay. Big fan. Cleaning lady arrived before 10:00.

- Themba (10/5): - Breakfast was nice
- Leeaquadth (1/5): Waste of money. - Rooms were beautiful. The walkway is way too long.
The owner wasn’t very pleasant with Ubers coming in so I had to walk. It’s a very long walk. And you walk through a pathway with bush on either sides . I actually did not stay the rest of the night because of the attitude from the owner
- Sinegugu (10/5): Exceptional service. They understand what customer service is. - Beautiful place. Great customer service always willing to help a client. - Sasha (1/5): We were made to feel very uncomfortable and Bertha was a very unkind person, who we filmed. - The very large dogs in the house kept eating off our plates during breakfast which was difficult to navigate. The owner of the dogs , Bertha, was aggressive, verbally abusive, screamed and shouted at us accusing us of lying about our flights being delayed( FA 269) and threatened not to open the gate for us if we did not get from the airport to the house in 30 minutes AFTER we already paid . This was at 23h00 despite knowing that I was travelling with my elderly mum from durban and would be stranded. We were surprised to learn that a very wrinkly old lady , Bertha, shouted and screamed claiming this is how she communicates. Despite my mum trying to engage in a decent conversation explaining the flight delays in a low voice, she continued to harass my mum, causing me to wake up and go and see who was screaming uncontrollably and ensure my mum was not in danger. Even her own dogs and staff were afraid of her. In the evening when we returned from the function, she screamed at my brother and was drinking from a mug.
