- cordulaf96 (4/5): Cleanliness is an issue - After a long nine-hour drive, we arrived at the Hampton Inn in Brighton, Michigan around 9:00 p.m. Upon check-in, we were charged a $75 pet fee for our dog, which had not been communicated prior to arrival. The fee applies for stays between one and four days, and we were only staying for two, which already felt frustrating after a long trip. We were assigned a room and went up, clearly exhausted. When we opened the door, it was immediately obvious that the room had not been cleaned at all. It was in complete disarray and looked as if it might still have been occupied. We went back to the front desk. The reaction we received was a casual “Oh, that’s inconvenient,” with no apology. We were then assigned a different room. Unfortunately, the second room was also far from clean. There was a visible bloodstain, likely from a cut finger, on the door handle and again on the sliding bathroom door handle. The bathroom grout appeared never to have been properly cleaned. Dirt and dust had collected in the corners of the tiled bathroom, along with small pieces of toilet paper, and there was even a piece of electrical cord lying on the floor. Walking around the bathroom barefoot did not feel comfortable at all. The bathroom clearly needs a deep steam and pressure clean, and given the amount of carpet in the room, this did not inspire confidence in the overall cleanliness of the space. The next morning, we went down for breakfast shortly before 10:00 a.m. We asked until what time breakfast was available and were told “until 10.” When we looked at the time and realized it was only just before 10, we turned around to find the entire buffet already gone. There was no apology and not even an offer to grab something simple like a muffin or an apple. We understand that arriving shortly before the end of breakfast does not entitle guests to a full buffet, but a small gesture would have gone a long way. Instead, we left and had breakfast elsewhere. Overall, the stay was not terrible in every aspect, but the level of cleanliness was unacceptable, and the front desk staff could benefit from a stronger focus on friendliness and basic customer service. Unfortunately, we will be looking at other hotel options in the area when we return.

When contacted Expedia was informed they could not cancel the reservation had to contact the hotel directly. So basically go the run around. Then the timeframe was past to cancel before deadline.

We were there for two nights coming back to our room after a long day at the hospital 8 am -4PM our room was not cleaned nor the trashed food cleaned up. the man at the desk had seen it when he came to help me with the tv...but did nothing. the breakfast was good and the morning staff was good...will never go back. Not at all like the Hamptons we stayed at before.

The shower floor had some hair in it and a little residue and the fridge had the previous guests food and beverages. Nothing major probably just missed in a rush they were very busy the night before. We will still use this hotel when we travel to Brighton.

Our room was so tiny not like we have had before. Our sheets kept coming off the bed because it is so close to the night stands and headboard.Shelving in the bathroom coming off the well. Toilet paper hanger not properly installed. My wife was in the shower this morning half way through the lights went out. No water pressure. Air conditioning wasn't working in the hallway. All in all it was a bad two days .

- Karen (6/5): Pool is closed - I booked this hotel STRICTLY because they had a pool, so when my daughter and I were going to the concert the family could swim, I spent more than I would to make sure they had a pool...we got there, the receptionist said the pool was open blah blah blah..got suits on and went to the pool, note on the door said pool is closed for the next two days....needless to say had a very disappointed group of kids

- Chunhui (10/5): - Very clean and spacious room. The breakfast is pretty good. Close to shopping malls and grocery stores.
- Adam (10/5): Perfect for Team - We stayed at the hotel for a baseball tournament. The room was huge. The lobby was great and large enough for a couple teams to enjoy it at breakfast and at night. The pool was perfect for the kids and the staff was very friendly.

- Janel (6/5): - The outdoor trash cans were overflowing with garbage. I moved the couch to open the drapes and several beer cans were under the couch. Outside doors (other than the main entrance) were not accessible to go in the hotel. I was told that the batteries on the doors needed to be changed. Very limited channels after putting a “smart” tv in the room I was in.

- Verified traveler (2/5): No heads up of broken hot tub - My family and I wanted to enjoy the last day of spring break with a night in a hotel with a pool and a hot tub. We hadn’t had the kids all break due to them being at their dads, so we wanted to do something special with them. When looking for a hotel, we chose this one of its amenities. We were very disappointed that no one told us about the hot tub being broken. That was why we chose that hotel over a different one. I don’t think we’d stay here again.

- Marc (8/5): Management??? - When we arrived at 11 pm to check in there was no one at the desk to check us in. I yelled hello several times. There was no sign or note. 15 minutes later the worker came to the desk. I stated we were yelling to anyone for 15 minutes. He responded I was only gone 10.

- Heidi (6/5): Could have been better - The people were nice but the room wasn’t very clean there was stains on the bedding and pillowcase and there was like old food residue all over the trash can and one of the tables.The beds were not comfy what’s so ever and there was kids screaming and running up and down the halls and throwing balls.

- Vince (4/5): I'd look around for other options first - When you book a hotel and you have kids, having a pool is a reason to choose one hotel over another. Not to mention paying $230 a night. Then at check in you're told the pool and hot tub are not available. Low class move! They should at least give you some money back or tell you before you stay.

When they finally checked us in they wrote down the wrong door number on our cards so we had to walk around 5-10 mintues trying to figure out which room was ours. When we finally got to our room my husband found an empty beer can wedged behind the chair in the corner. Which just shows how little they clean inside the rooms. Its probably still there. Room 234.
- Lynda (4/5): - Front desk staff was awesome. There was no toilet paper in my room and obvious food crumbs on carpet. A Coke Zero in fridge left by last person-obviously not wiped out. Damage to the wall on bottom where shower meets the wall low never repaired or painted. Went for the hot tub and pool. Hot tub not working and pool had no real aerators going. Bathrooms in pool area were flooded with rust all over in them in a pool of water with soaked tp and walls. Had to show staff-they did not know. Was comped half price for room and left next day. Awful experience.
- Michael (2/5): - Hot tub was broke, trash can in room full, fingerprints on all of the mirrors. We left and I got a room next door at homewood suites. I would think the hot tub that had been down for a while would have been mentioned on the website - and the lady at the counter had no idea when it would be fixed. She was very nice, and apopogetic. My 26th anniversary, we live around here and just wanted to get away for the evening and enjoy the hot tub.

The room we got was fine for what it was, but when I reserve a room with a "jetted tub" and get a handicap accessible shower in the room instead, I'm going to say something. Not pleased with the handling of the issue from Expedia or Hampton Inn itself. Definitely got the run around there.

When we checked in, the front desk didn’t mention that the hot tub was closed, so very disappointed. Also had kids running around above us for hours. Woke me at 3am

- s0lanew (6/5): Very nice hotel - We were in town for a softball tournament with our team staying together at Hampton Inn. The hotel knew we had late games Friday evening at 10:50 pm and 12:10 am so it was late when we returned. The problem was about 9:45 am there was one knock on my door while I was in the restroom and the cleaner walked right in on me in the bathroom….she didn’t exit after this, she proceeded to grab our trash, wait for me to come out then grabbed the bathroom trash and asked if we needed towels. Checkout is not until 11 am and we were staying a second night so we had no need for room service. I get that we didn’t put the sign out to DND but they shouldn’t barge into any rooms until after 11 am when checkout time is unless they know for a fact someone checked out early. Not impressed. I made it just in time for breakfast and was able to grab a couple things but most was picked over by 9:50 since they close up at 10 am. Sausages were gone so I had scrambled eggs and potatoes with a hard boiled egg. (Gluten free). They have a waffle maker, oatmeal, boxed cereal and a little bit of fruit. We ended up leaving by 11 am due to a sports injury forfeiting our second night which was a bummer but uncontrollable.

- James (2/5): Paid-in-advance suite not available - We were in town to attend my dad's funeral. I had reserved 3 rooms. One of the 3 rooms was supposed to be a suite with a fold-out couch to accommodate 2 small children. When we checked in, the Hampton staff said they did not have any of those rooms left, and gave us the standard 2-queen room instead. We paid extra for the other room, but they said they couldn't do anything about it since we went through a 3rd party. Can we get a refund for that room, or discount?
