Guest Reviews
- Elizabeth (10/5): Beautiful oasis - Beautiful place! The hotel is tucked up the hill on a gravel road that would be manageable in any car if you drive carefully. There is access to hiking from the hotel and nature all around.
William and staff were very helpful and always available. William can help book any kind of experience you’d like in the area and has great recommendations and advice.
Would definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - William nous accueil comme chez lui et nous avons été tout de suite très à l’aise à cet endroit !
- Jakub&Isa (10/5): - Volcano Gold Loft is a gem in the Costa Rica jungle. Our room was spacious with a beautiful view off the jungle, great A/C and comfortable beds. The host was phenomenal and assisted us in planning our daily itinerary. Every recommendation he made was spot on. 10/10 would recommend.
- Ivon (10/5): - The staff was very friendly, especially the Management William was super friendly I'm recommend 100 percent of this hotel, it was an unforgettable experience.
- Mary (6/5): - +++
William was out of this world kind and took us out to see a sloth up in a tree nearby.
The breakfast was good.
The pool & jacuzzi areas were nice.
-
The rooms were humid and smelled like moist.
We had a deluxe room ans nothing was really deluxe of it.
The cleaning people lost our room key & so our room and bed weren’t done for a day.
A bit out of La Fortuna and 1700 meters down a long unpaved road.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We LOVED our stay. The rooms have a great view of the jungle, they are very clean and comfy, and calm.
The manager, I think William was his name, really took the time to talk about our stay and the do's and don'ts of the area. He helped us plan our activities.
The road to the hotel is a bit difficult, easier to acces with small SUV.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing place with great, friendly staff. Very good breakfast and clean, comfortable room. I would not hesitate to return!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice property in middle of the jungle. A lot of nature. The access is a little complicate but you will loved. A lot of activities in the area. I’m strongly recommend this hotel
- Liz (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay at the Volcano Gold Loft! Rooms were clean and the view was absolutely beautiful! The manager William was super friendly and helped my family and I decide the best activities to do during our stay. He even arranged for us to have our own personal Uber driver. 10/10 recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - La atencion es excelente. Muy buen desayuno. Habitacion muy comoda, espaciosa y limpia.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What an amazing hotel! With only 8 rooms, this place feels like home away from home. We got a beautiful room overlooking the jungle. We woke up to nature sounds and were able to see toucans from our window.
The best part is the manager, Will. He made our stay unforgettable. We got tips for the best places to visit and he booked everything for us.
I can’t recommend a better place in La Fortuna!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Sehr nette Angestellte, Lage sehr ruhig
Nicht ganz so sauber als andere Unterkünfte in CR
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great property and lovely staff.
Ver clean and spacious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place and size for the price. We didn't like the gravel roads there, but it's quite common in Costa Rica.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good breakfast and the beds are big. It is quiet and surrounded by nature. Kind of hard to find location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A very unique location situated on a long dirt road on a hill. Not easily accessible without a good vehicle but the location is quaint, quiet, and secluded. The pool and hot tub were a nice touch but the hot tub was not easy to walk too and had to be requested to use. The breakfast that was included was decent but the prices for the dinner menu were very expensive and so were the alcoholic drinks. The receptionists were very kind and nice.
- Andy (10/5): - Location in the jungle, super clean big rooms, great food, super friendly attentive staff-kudos to Laura and Allison!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel setting out back was pretty. Breakfast was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great property to experience a local Costa Rican hotel. It was a bit noisy as our room was adjacent to the kitchen, but our entire family loved it.
- Gwendelyn (8/5): - Beautiful location. High end quality in a jungle oasis. It is about about a 10mins drive from down town and cab was approx $10usd each way. Very gracious staff. Nice view and privacy.
- Kelly (10/5): Luxury with views - Nice luxury accommodations in the rainforest. Great choices for breakfast and amazing views. Need a car because it is a short drive from La Fortuna. Owners are opening horseback riding tours and night tours so I would check that out for sure. Book your own massage don’t go through front desk. I went to aesthetic spa 1 in las fortuna. It was awesome.
- Marilyn (10/5): - Beautiful location and staff was excellent. The owner had some issues with water pressure for showering.
- Beverly Thoms (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at the Volcano Gold it was very comfortable, clean and spacious, food was great. Luis was very competent, friendly and accommodating. We would definitely refer this place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was extremely friendly and helpful
- Tammy (10/5): Cheers Amigo Luis!! - We were greeted by Luis, who not only spoke very good English, was a super host. He spent time with us explaining the area and helping us with our Española.
The room was very clean and comfortable the food was very good also.
If we ever travel here again, we will definitely stay again at Volcano Gold Loft.
THANK YOU LUIS!!! You made our stay very memorable. Cheers
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent and friendly staff. Very clean rooms. Just a great property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Peace, Quiet and Relaxing - We wanted a hotel that had peace, quiet and was relaxing. This hotel fit our needs perfectly. It is off the beaten path, but not too far away if you have a car. You can be to the center of La Fortuna in 10 minutes.
The hotel has blackout curtains, which makes it perfect if you want to sleep in! And a comfortable king size bed!
They serve 3 options of breakfast every morning from 7:30am - 9:00am.
The only downside is if you want a room with a fridge, coffee maker, microwave, etc. However, when you are on vacation, you can make do.
Luis was super friendly. He handled the front desk and served breakfast. He bent over backwards to meet our needs.
If your looking for a place to rest and relax, but yet not too far from the center of La Fortuna, this is the place for you.
- Maria (4/5): - The service was excellent. The room very modern and clean. Access to the property is the downside. You need to drive through a dirt road going up and down hills and some areas with space for one vehicle. Other than that would recommend.
- Susan (10/5): La Fortuna trip. - We had a great time. Luis went out of his way to be helpful with tours, restaurants & general information about the area. The road to Volcano Gold Loft is very rough but the staff made it worth it. We would come back.
- stacia (8/5): Secluded and romantic... - Volcano gold loft was very cute! Besides a mix up with Expedia on the rooms...everything was pretty much ok! The bedrooms are huge,..but the bathrooms really small- you can’t fit 2 people at the same time, unless one is in the shower..😂 their free breakfast was ok. I would say the tipico was the best. They need a better pancake mix,.as it tasted like flour and water. (Our group of 7 all agreed). The dinners are good,.& very tasty though! The best thing was the huge comfy beds! I didn’t want to get out!
- Alexandra (10/5): - The location was so beautiful, you need a taxi to get there, because the hotel is literally in the jungle. Great views all the time and the food was soooo good.
- James (10/5): - This is a great, new hotel that combines a sleek, modern European vibe with warm Costa Rican hospitality. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the food is tasty (both everyday breakfast and a Churrasco dinner and good wine that we had one night). It's nestled high in the rainforest, and the views are breath-taking--toucan watching included. The location does mean a mile's drive up a rough gravel road best made in a sturdy vehicle; our small 4x4 was perfect both for this hotel and many other gravel roads we encountered in Costa Rica.
- J (10/5): Great experience - Everything was fantastic. A little out of town so nice and quiet. Lots of wild life. Beautiful hotel. Helpful polite staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful Oasis close to La Fortuna - My spouse & I stayed at Volcano Gold Loft when visiting La Fortuna. Here are the benefits of this hotel:
- 10 min drive to La Fortuna town (the road to get there was pretty bumpy so we recommend to take a 4x4)
- Beautiful landscaped grounds that include a jacuzzi, pool and patio
- Hotel is very new and located in the forest
- Hotel rooms were very clean, modern and beautifully furnished
- View from the room was amazing
- Breakfast was included and delicious (you can choose from 4-5 menu options)
- FERNANDO (6/5): - EL LUGAR EN DONDE SE ENCUENTRA ESTA MUY BONITO, PERO ALEJADO DEL CENTRO DE LA CIUDAD POR CAMINOS DE TERRACERIA, POR LO CUAL ES NECESARIO RENTAR AUTO, SI TE GUSTA LA NATURALEZA Y ESTAR ALEJADO DEL RUDIO ESTA PERFECTO, LA ATENCION DEL ENCARGADO INMEJORABLE
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel overall, but don't go to room 1!
- Nice hotel overall, but needs some improvements: Not enough tables to have dinner or breakfast. William, the host, seems to be overworked all the time.
Room #1 was not the best experience for us: The AC engines were very close to the lateral window and the noise was annoying.
This room does not have the nice view to the Volcano, at all! Our windows looked to the hallway, so we had to keep the curtains closed all the time. The lateral window is also looking at another hallway/side-pass, so, again, we had to keep the curtains closed... Be sure you don't get room number 1, because it is definitely not what you see in the nice Expedia pictures. This is a lower quality room, compared to the rest and I think it should be rented at a lower prize.
- Coco (10/5): Loved It! - The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The location is super tranquil and relaxing and safe and lovely. It's about a 10 minute drive from downtown La Fortuna which for me was perfect in terms of going out to dinner easily.
- Nick (10/5): Beautiful jungle retreat - Had a great stay at volcano gold loft! William and the staff are amazing; always there for questions, advice or just a chat! Very warm and welcoming vibe.
Very well kept and clean hotel tucked into the jungle. Our room was huge; 2 king beds, table and a bathroom as big as my apartment! Large opening windows with great views of jungle. We were on top floor next to kitchen so expect some noise around 7am however we're up around then anyway. You'll get some dogs barking and general jungle noises throughout the night so ear plugs are never bad idea. A mini fridge would of been nice to keep some cold beers in but ice was available from kitchen for cocktails.
I actually enjoyed the road in. We had 4x4 but 2wd would make it. It's a bumpy road taking you into beautiful area past some local dwellings with chickens, dogs and kids playing in street....it was cool and maybe took 10mins max.
Overall a great stay and cool jungle base to explore the area. Oh; and they're putting in a hot tub across the little brook that runs through property which will be really nice!
- Seira (10/5): A True Gem in La Fortuna - This hotel opened 7 months ago, and they've gone above and beyond to create a unique experience in La Fortuna.
Definitely recommend room #7, which is their biggest room with the best view...overlooking the pool and jungle. With huge windows making up half the room, you feel like you are waking up in the middle of the jungle.
Breakfast is included which we took advantage of every morning. They serve an American style breakfast and "Tipico," which is the typical Costa Rican meal consisting of gallo pinto, eggs, and fruit.
The best part of the hotel is the staff. William, the hotel manager, was so friendly and gave us a whole bunch of helpful tips that really improved our stay.
One word of caution...the hotel is 2km off the main road and it is a little bumpy so do not drive there in anything less than a 4WD Jeep. Overall that's the case in Costa Rica as a whole anyways.
- Saad (8/5): Very good fir the price - New everything. Nice wood view and nice restaurant
- Greg (10/5): We had a great time in the shadow of Volcan Arenal - We will stay again. Meet people from all over the world. Staff was superb and friendly. Gave us great tips on the local area. Slept very peacefully in a modern, large and comfortable room.
- Chidi (10/5): Great Staff, Beautiful Hotel in the jungle - We had a fantastic stay at this hotel, the staff was so helpful and friendly, they gave us local insights into what to do around the area and discounts on our activities.
The room was very modern, cleaned daily and comfortable. Short drive to various activities we had planned.
The hotel grounds were well kept and breakfast was served daily. We had an amazing stay and we will definitely be back.
- Julia (10/5): Most lovely hotel host ever -
One hotel what is more than recommendable.
We didnt want to leave this place.
Our room was very very comfortable, bright and clean with a nice view of the hotelown garden. The pool was very great to cool down in the heat.
During the breakfast you can observe all the birds playing in the trees, also Tucans. If you have luck, you can see sloths over there.
The host is the most friendly and happiest guy, we ever seen before. He helps you everywhere and give you also helpfull tips, where you have to go.
We would everybody recommand to book this hotel.
Tip: Try the pancakes
- Sylvie (10/5): Very comfortable - Hotel host William :) very nice helpful young men that speaks very well English.
- Kirsten (10/5): Jungle Getaway @ Volcano Gold Loft - Looking for a quieter retreat? Volcano Gold Loft is a brand new hotel outside the city with the friendliest staff in town. There is a refreshing outdoor pool with well manicured tropical grounds, a stream, and a resident sloth that the staff will gladly point out to you at any time! Free breakfast each morning (not continental) and wi-fi and cable TV as long as there isn't a storm. You will need a 4X4 vehicle to get here, but it is well worth it!
- Jose (8/5): Amazing staff!! - The staff here is amazingly friendly and helpful! It was beautiful sleeping with the windows open and hearing the jungle noises all around. However there are also local dogs and roosters so if you are a light sleeper you might need to sleep with the windows closed. Also the top floor rooms share a hallway with the dining room which gets noisy around 7 am. The grounds are beautiful the building is brand-new and Incredibly clean! Would recommend this to anyone especially due to the friendly staff
- Laurence (10/5): A jewel in the middle of the jungle - Everything was perfect .....this new hotel is pure luxury in the middle of the jungle....and a short distance by car (7 minutes)to la fortuna town.
William welcomed us like we were family, he wanted to make sure we had a perfect stay, nothing was too much trouble for him....thank you so much William.....We had the big room ( 2 adults ,2 children ) in the corner with windows over watching the jungle and the swimming pool....wonderful view....lovely room and confortable beds....we didn t want to leave the place, my daughter loved the pool....And just the morning we left we had the big pleasure to see a sloth ,that was incredible.....apparently he lives there....
Brilliant place....
The only thing I can advise you is to look on your GPS for " princesa de la Luna " hotel because the gold loft hotel is just before the princesa , and as this hotel is brand new they didn t have the signs yet , but they will soon....
