Guest Reviews
- Rakchon (10/5): Thanks for making my trip even more memorable! - The house was amazing! It had everything we needed, great location, comfy space, super friendly staff, and everything worked perfectly. I stayed there with my family, and everyone was really happy with the place.
It’s just a 1-minute walk to the Keihan Line station, about 5 minutes to the JR Line, and there’s a Lawson and Life supermarket super close by. It’s also near Fushimi Inari, so there’s tons of food around! But surprisingly, it wasn’t as crowded as I thought, unless you’re heading toward the train station.
Just a heads up, check-in is at a different location, but no worries, the staff took us to the house for free. Super convenient!

- Anna (10/5): Lovely experience - This townhouse is an amazing experience and a great place to stay in Kyoto. Just a 10 minute walk to the amazing Fushimi Inari shrine, which is the best as you can go there in the late evening and see this beautiful place with no crowds, which is magical. Check-in is made in a hotel near Kyoto main train station and they provide a complimentary taxi from the hotel to the townhouse or a complimentary luggage delivery. It is well equipped, renovated, comfortable, clean and spacious. Two bedrooms, one with two normal beds and second with futons, which we absolutely loved. The staff at the hotel was lovely. Absolutely recommend to stay there! Stairs are quite steep to the first floor, which may be uncomfortable for people with disabilities. A little bit loud at night as the walls are not soundproof and it's next to main road, it's good to have a pair of earplugs with you.
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaxyn (8/5): Nice authentic experience. Lots and lots of space. Located right next to train station. Restaurants nearby. It is slight -
- Habiba (9/5): A fantastic Japanese House - One of the best places we've ever stayed. Very well kept. The hotel were quick to respond. Facilities were very clean and spacious. mattresses were super comfortable and just overall a fantastic experience lots of mosquitoes so couldnt open the windows
- - (10/5): Best stay we had in japan! - Location is right next to rinn fushiminari station. Stay was very modern and comfortable. Inclusion of washer and dryer was nice. yes yes yes
- Shanshan (9/5): Superb - Washing machine doesn’t work well enough. Dry function needs improvement.
- Ashley (5/5): A lovely house, but not exactly an "omotenashi" experience. - Great location and the property was very nice-looking. It was easy to find and tastefully decorated. Very close to the train station and Fushimi Inari. Checking in at their main location was too much hassle, especially as a group with any amount of luggage. We came from northeast Osaka (Keihan Line) and had to pass the property on our way to pick up the keys before doubling back. Left my parents in Fushimi with our luggage while I went to check in - and thank goodness I did, since walking from the station to the main hotel turned out to be much further than expected, despite it being an "Eki-mae" hotel. It was over an hour before I made it back to them. This is a hassle and the only place we stayed where we weren't able to send our passport copies digitally.
The house across the street was noisily being torn down during our stay, starting early each morning.
More importantly, when we had a serious issue, the hotel response was lacking. In the morning, we found ourselves LOCKED INSIDE THE HOUSE - the electronic lock had died during the night. There is NO secondary exit on this property. The terrace is enclosed by concrete walls. I called the hotel, who sent maintenance half an hour later, where we had to talk through the front window. I speak Japanese, and I can't imagine what this situation would have been like if I didn't. The lock mechanism had to be switched, so someone had to stay in the house for the repair, eating up the entire morning of our only day in Fushimi.
My parents were concerned about what we would have done in an emergency medical situation, unable to get out of the building (we would have had to break a window had there been a fire), while I was just relieved the situation occurred on the first day rather than the second, because we would have missed our train to Tokyo, and I doubt we would have been compensated for our shinkansen tickets. The most the hotel said they could do to make up for the situation was allow us to check out 1 hour later the next morning - unfortunately, I'd booked our train tickets based on the original departure of 10 AM.
- Yojana (10/5): Beautiful place and comfortable stay in a quintessential Japanese style house - Location to the train stations and the quaint Japanese style house The kitchen could have been slightly bigger. More hooks or hangers to hang and dry clothes
- Vanessa (9/5): The location is fantastic and allowed us to enjoy Fushimi Inari during off peak periods. - The kitchen area is very small and difficult to use due to lack of space. For example, there is nowhere to place dishes as they are being washed or to easily prepare food.
- Patricia (10/5): Felt like a local living in a modern Japanese townhouse - Spacious townhouse with all the facilities of home. Close proximity to 2 train stations, multiple restaurants and a short walk up the hill to fushimiinari shrine. There was no iron
- Patrice (9/5): Great house and location - It’s in a great location, 2 minutes to a train station and 3 minutes to the amazing shrine. The townhouse was very spacious. It had an excellent bathroom with a deep bath to soak in. Lots of good places to eat and drink nearby. The noise from the nearby road was a bit loud at night.
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was awesome - beautifull accomodation in japanese style including 2 atrium gardens, fully equiped including slippers, yucatas and written manual to absolutelly everything. Washing mashine has drying functions, so there is no hanger for drying laundry. If i had a house in Japan, it would look like this.
We would appreciate little thicker futons.
- Beatrice (9/5): Very lovely guesthouse - Very nice little guesthouse, would have loved to stay longer! Lots of space to hang out downstairs in the mornings and evenings. Close to many good restaurants and to subways lines. Very noisy from traffic outside made earplugs a must when sleeping.
- Ondrej (10/5): Great way how to enjoy Kyoto style living - Great place very close to Fushimi Inari Shrine and Keihan Fushimi station. Nice house with beautiful small Japanese style garden.
- Liesbeth (9/5): Great clean and spacious traditional house near the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. - Great clean and spacious traditional house within walking distance of the magnificent Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. It's a bit outside the busy city center of Kyoto, but easily reachable by train. The kitchen is very small so preparing food is not easy.
- Gillian (10/5): Fabulous home base in Kyoto - The accommodation was incredible and the staff were absolutely wonderful and helpful. They assisted us with luggage transfer and the little touches when the housekeeper set up the kids toys after making the bed made our children smile. It was fabulous and if we are back in Kyoto we will stay here again. So convenient to Fushimi Inari, I climbed the mountain early each morning before the hoards of tourists. Magical!
- Philomena (10/5): Great location. Great experience. - The location was fabulous! Within minutes from the Fushimi Inari shrine and the Fushimi Inari Keihan train station and the Inari JR train station. There were so many eateries and shops in the day. Shops close by 6pm though and the eateries close by 8pm. There’s even a small eatery right outside the house (literally). As it’s a Machiya we experienced a traditional Japanese home that was really interesting. The living area on the ground floor was spacious and comfortable. Do note that you probably cannot carry large luggages upstairs as the stairway is narrow. So we accessed our luggages in the living room, which was fine as the bathroom is downstairs. There is a WC upstairs so don’t worry about having to come down if you need the toilet in the night. Loved the little zen garden as well. I loved having my morning coffee at the garden.
Response to queries prior to our stay was prompt and helpful. The staff provided clear instructions how to get to the hotel for our transport to the townhouse. Housekeeping could be improved. The air vents need to be cleaned as they are pretty filthy. Perhaps to also give the washing machine a good clean as it was quite dirty when I wanted to use it. So I ran one empty wash first and cleaned the drum before putting my wash in. Hardly any interaction with the staff except for the check in when they sent us in a taxi from Rinn Kyoto Station Hotel to the townhouse. We were a little disappointed when they couldn’t help us book a taxi on our departure to Kyoto Station claiming they were “overbooked” which I didn’t understand. Eventually we downloaded the Didi app and tried our luck calling for our own taxi. The staff could have provided some advice on how to book a taxi since we’re obviously not familiar as tourists.
- Ly (10/5): Exceptional - The interior was very beautiful, and the place itself was clean, convenient and spacious. Note that you will have to get the key from a different place from where you will be staying but it's not inconvenient at all. The staff will call you a taxi (which shall be paid by them) to bring you to your actual accommodation.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome location. Steps away from the Fushimi Inari shrine. Washing machine is slow so plan accordingly.
- Shirley (9/5): Superb -
- Hayley (10/5): Wake up next to Fushimi Inari - Excellent location near Fushimi Inari Shrine. Two train lines close by to get anywhere you want to go. Convenience store very close. The apartment was lovely and very clean. Our stay was wonderful so it's difficult to find a fault. To be picky, kitchen was a little small so if you want to make your own meals it's hard to find room. Lots of food available around the area so this didn't bother us at all.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Ailyn (10/5): Exceptional -
