Guest Reviews
- MikeandPip (10/5): - We spoilt ourselves with 2 nights in Ahas Pokuna. This is a truly special place. Greeted at the road side by Arun our naturalist guide we were immediately enveloped in the forest following a footpath (truly the only access) leading us up the the very exclusive camp. We were the only guest and had the middle of three tent suites/tree houses. The beautifully maintained grounds of the camp are full of birds and the staff are always attentive. The food is excellent and plentiful. Arun was delightful leading us along the elephant tracks into the the savannah and forest. He knew something about every bird insect and reptile we saw. along the elephant track the dung was recent and we had the magical experience of observing a wild group of elephants across the valley. You are really in the forest with the animals and hearing the elephants trumpet and rumble and crash through the undergrowth is far more memorable and spectacular than any jeep safari can be. The 5 hour trek took us across to a beautiful waterfall for a swim then through a small village where we were welcomed like celebrities. These were by far the most expensive nights of our trip but I recommend it highly for an experience you will never forget. Thank you Arun and team for looking after us.
- VS (10/5): Amazing experience - Nothing less than amazing to describe the caring & dedicated staff to the authentic food & environment at the camp. A unique experience out in the jungle connecting with nature. The walk was at times tedious but fabulous & we got to see a large herd of wild elephants plus many species of flora & fauna. We walked through the local village & saw them harvesting their crops as well as encountered a group of local gem miners at work! Miss the place already & would love to return some time soon.
