Guest Reviews
- Xiaojia (10/5): - It was a very nice stay. I will stay there again if I go back one day.
- Kurt (10/5): - The best value we’ve had in Japan by far. Bed, bath, breakfast and down to earth people. The man we assumed was the owner speaks english, is solicitous to a fault and serves a great breakfast including some of the tuna Nachikatsuura is known for.
800 yen taxi ride from JR Kiikatsuura station if you have bags or ten minute walk if you travel light.
So you are in town to see the falls and temples? Spend a couple of nights here and give your money to a small local concern.
Leave your patio door open and let the sound of the ocean across the street lull you to sleep. Five stars for us. Thanks to Pal’s Inn. Also listed as Pulse hotel.
- Gary (10/5): - We stayed here one night. It was an easy walk from the train station and easy walk to the bus stop to go up to the Kumano Nachi Taisha shrine. Rooms are clean with showers and toilets in the rooms. An unexpected bonus: we got tickets to go down to one of the hot spring baths at a hotel down the road! The woman at the front desk was very friendly. We used google translate to talk with her. Would stay again to explore the coastline. Beautiful area.
- Yasuyama Jeniffer (10/5): - Staff are totally friendly but property need a total renovation.
- Eldo (8/5): - Excellent dining room breakfast and service. Friendly staff. Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean from the balcony.
- Lise (6/5): Good breakfast - Very small bathroom, room and beds are fine, hallways run down but clean. Staff helpful and one of them speaks English. Breakfast is much better than the description on the web page.
- Steven (10/5): - A laid-back little hotel with great views of the ocean and Nachi beach.
Room and facilities were excellent, the hotel serving breakfast using locally caught tuna.
- zhiyuan (8/5): - The hotel is a bit old and the washroom is a bit small, our check in was horrible but the breakfast is good!
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Tse (8/5): - Love the free onsen at their sister hotel about 5 min drive away. Simple accommodation with decent room size. There is a free washing machine but no dryer and the guy who did our check in gave us a rack to dry our clothes on the balcony. Breakfast comprising rice, 3 pieces of raw tuna, egg, miso soup, orange juice and coffee is nice and is nothing ‘english’ about it. It is a convenient location if u come with a car.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful view from hotel window, friendly and helpful staff, onsen included a short walk down the street.
- doviles271 (6/5): Nice view, tiny bathroom, overpriced - The room was clean, nice and helpful staff, the hotel is by the ocean and has nice view through the window. The train station is couple of min away.
The bathroom was tiny as well as the towels but they had nice robes. There is nothing else to do to at the hotel (no spa or gym, etc). However you can use their sister hotel in the same town if you want to use onsen. There is a restaurant in the hotel but only serves breakfast.
I would recommend it for overnight stay if you are passing by.
- T-Meaux (10/5): - Very nicely located between the waterfalls and the fish & food market district of Nachi.
- Bossofnothing (2/5): Bad dirty and rundown - Really dirty old and rundown hotel. Stains in carpet broken windows holes in the walls and loose tiles and broken stuff everywhere. The oly sollution for this hotel is tearing it down. The price they charge is way to high and breakfast is ridiculous.
(8/5): - Nice, comfortable bed, good view. The staff can’t speak English well but they have service mind. The traditional breakfast is quite good but there is no any western style breakfast
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We asked for no smoking room, the room smelled smoky and mouldy... it was hard to sleep in.
- Anna (10/5): - The hotel is by the sea and provides convenient access to the beautiful Nachi Waterfalls and Nachisan (take a bus from Nachi station). Rooms are great, and guests can use the fancy onsen in the nearby sister hotel! Hotel staff is kind and helpful. Hotel is within walking distance from Kiitemma station (3 minutes) and Nachi station (15 minutes) on the JR Line. Do plan where to eat though - most restaurants and convenient stores are 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay! - Great simple stay with beautiful view of Nachi Beach. You get free entry to onsen at sister hotel, which is a nice add on I wasn’t expecting.
- Jeff (8/5): - Good, clean, basic. Beautiful view from all the rooms. Onsen is included but off-site, maybe 10 minute walk or so.
- anonymous (6/5): Budget hotel - We went for Nachi Falls which is really amazing and worth seeing, however the accommodation and the town don't have much going for it. Would day trip next time with a hire car.
- wichutar (6/5): Nothing like ads! - I really hoped to wear Yukata as per the list of facilities shown in agoda. Unfortunately, the hotel provide only normal bathrope.
Breakfast is only bread/boiled eggs/juice, too small for me. The location is not easy to find. Free parking
- DebbieY541 (8/5): Good Value, Nice View - The rooms were very small and basic. We had to move rooms half-way through our stay due to a water-leak. We moved the 2 small single beds together to make a bigger bed and found it was extremely dusty underneath, like it had never been cleaned. Having said that, the staff was very sweet, the reasonable rate included a breakfast (coffee/tea/juice/milk/boiled eggs/toast). The beds were quite comfortable, even though they were quite small. The view from the room was excellent, as you had a view of Nachi beach and the ocean beyond. It was within walking distance to Ki-Katsuura port as well as Nachi beach, and was within walking distance to both Nachi and Ki-Katsuura train stations.
- mtnseeker_mhh (6/5): Pleasant stay at end of 6-day trek on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route - I stayed at this property at the end of a 6-day hike along the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route from Koyasan. At Pal's Inn, I had a double room (2 twin beds) for single occupancy so the room was quite spacious and comfortable. The room was well-appointed with a view of the ocean--better than I was expecting! Very little English spoken, so I was forced to use my rudimentary Japanese, which is a good thing. They gave me a free pass to a public onsen bath which was just a little ways down the road. Free wifi, but only in the small lobby area in front of the reception desk. Breakfast was coffee, toast, jam and green salad all served up buffet style--a little disappointing when compared to the wonderful breakfasts I enjoyed at other hotels and minshuku on my trip. The inn is 1 kilometer from JR Nachi Station (I walked it) and just across a big parking lot from the Kii Tenma rail station so quite convenient for rail connections.
- KellyH484 (8/5): Nice, friendly place, small rooms, little English - The Inn was lovely. Smallish room and even smaller bathroom, but that was still fine. The view over the Pacific Ocean was fantastic, and there is a beach a few minutes' walk away. The owner is *very* helpful but doesn't speak much English, so you have to get by with sign language (or Japanese, if you're fluent). Our stay there was a lot of fun, with good access to Dorokyo Gorge (shuttle from downtown Nachikatsuura) and Kumano Nachi Taisha shrine / Daimon-zaka path (bus from nearby Nachi station). If you're willing and able to do some good planning and don't need to stay in luxurious accommodations, this place could work out as well for you as it did for us. Best sashimi *ever* was at "restaurant #6" on the hotel's restaurant map. No idea what it was called, because everything was in Japanese. The restaurant owner spoke a bit of English. It was so much fun that we went there 2 out of 3 nights in town.
