Guest Reviews
- Jason (10/5): - Great place with pleasant staff.
- Heidi (10/5): - The gateway was a nice hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious.
- Laurie (10/5): - Parking was a breeze. From the outside, it looks kind of iffy but I was so thoroughly impressed by the inside. It’s definitely dated (reminded me of my nana’s house but it was oddly comforting) but CLEAN. I can’t stress enough how lovely every single staff member is and again, cleanliness is obviously a top priority there. Overall, great stay and I would choose them again if I ever pass through again in the future. Clean, friendly and welcoming.
- Anthony (10/5): - Parking was adequate and near
- Michael (8/5): - Nice room like the despriction at the page. The only problem not enough hot water to take two showers.
- Raymond (10/5): - Beautiful area
- Dean (6/5): - Property was OK but quite dated. Beds felt worn out and lumpy. Forget breakfast. Pop Tarts and toast are not what I expected. However, location was key for this stay, so it was worth it.
- rodney (8/5): - Very clean. Friendly staff. Beds could use updating.
- Claire (8/5): - Clean room, lovely staff.
- MD REZWAN (10/5): - The place is quiet with a great view on the back. They are in the middle of renovation and most of the amenities are great. There's a refrigerator and microwave in the room which is also great. Recommend this place for staying.
- Nellie (10/5): -
The front desk was extremely friendly.
- Oscar (8/5): - Folks were friendly and accommodating. Room was clean but some furnishings need replacing (lampshade stained, bedside stand damaged top) and inside of exterior door needing repainted. Parking lot is very damaged outside the exterior room door.
- Lev (8/5): - Very nice place, staff & service, family friendly
Thanks
- Sha (10/5): Quiet & clean. - Cleaned spotless! Quiet and was so comfortable. Friendly staff.
- Michael (6/5): - Front desk staff were pleasant. This was a 1 night stop with zero conviences. No amenities other than a bed. There was a construction crew staying there, barbequing in the parking lot when we arrived. We had to leave to eat dinner and breakfast was coffee and a granola bar and banana. Did I mention a construction crew was tailgating in the parking lot. Had to call the desk as they were load and drinking in their rooms....The property is old and in dire need of restoration...It was raining when we arrived on our motorcycles so the bed was welcomed but access to a washer and dryer would have been nice.
- Elizabeth A (8/5): - Best value I've seen in the last several years. Thank you!
- John (8/5): - Place was clean and comfortable. Would gladly stay here again.
- Cynthia (6/5): - No seating in room
- Marla (10/5): - This is not an upscale hotel but it is perfect for any traveler.
Even the sheets are beautiful.
- Shawn (8/5): - I was a nice place to spend the night . The staff was very friendly. The hotel was very quiet and very clean.
- Daniel (8/5): Need better beds - Only complaint was the beds were extremely uncomfortable.
- Shannen (10/5): - Very Friendly Staff & Room was Clean.
- Kris (6/5): - Very poor complimentary breakfast. Beds not real comfy. Staff were nice. Condition of the room structurally was OK but not solid. Tiny TV.
- Darren (10/5): - Very clean, conveniently located, and economical.
- Ian (10/5): - Old, but in a good way.
- Wendy (8/5): Nice! - Friendly staff and very clean room!! Nice interior. Would stay again!!

- Dan (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is as good as it gets for a reasonable price. I would recommend staying here.
- Keri (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff
- Mary (8/5): Very Satisfied - What I like most about the Gateway Inn is the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of both the public spaces, but my room, as well.
- David (8/5): - The room was at 78° even though the thermostat was set at 60° I ask the desk what could be done and they said to turn on the AC.
- Gordon (10/5): Nice clean place. - Easy access. Great price. Clean and comfortable. Good places to eat close by.
- Gabriel (10/5): - Good people and very clear
- Mike (10/5): - Great service clean property. Definitely, stay again.
- Leonard (6/5): Need of Updates - Well,we welcomed very nicely. We went to the room as they have no facilities in the lobby. When we settled in the heat never turned off. The shower needs updating. The shower head leaked, towards the ceiling, the hot water ran out right after I got my hair wet. Brought it to the front desks attention. Too defensive for my likes.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Right in a location where I needed a motel.
- Angela (10/5): - Very friendly ladies at the front desk and housekeeping.
- Stanley (8/5): - Its not the fanciest, most luxurious place, but the value is solid and the staff were very nice. A great deal if that is what you want.
- albert (8/5): - Everything was good
- David (8/5): - Good value.
- randy (6/5): - Clean, front desk friendly and helpful, close to the highway and logging trucks in the area start early. Continental breakfast is a stretch- just coffee, juice, toast and small cereal boxes
- Rushit (10/5): - Friendly and informative staff
- Fineas (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Airy, very quiet.
- William (4/5): - I checked-in around 4:00 p.m. The lady at the front desk was hardly welcoming. She didn’t smile, and made me feel as if I was being scrutinized, or judged in some way. I don’t need to be entertained or anything, but at least make me feel like my business is appreciated.
- Cate (10/5): - Great
- Roy (4/5): - Average stay. Property room outdated. Beds worn. Shower was decent. No real breakfast. We got we we paid for.
- Kelly (10/5): - Very clean. Staff is great. Good location.
- DAVID (8/5): - Decent motel; met our needs at a reasonable price. Clean & comfortable. Would stay here again.
- Warren (10/5): - Stayed here on our way to NB. Clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
- Nathalie (8/5): - good pricing in these days. No carpet is excellent.
The issue was a crazy guy running and shouting around during the night under our windows. Not sure what we could have done.
Concerning the cleanliness, super. But I would recommend the personal to wear a net on their hair by cleaning up. We found long black hair in the towels.
We are not so picky, but some would be.
- Gray (8/5): - Great room for the price, just wish the AC had been turned on before I got there. Room was quite warm and took a long time to cool down.
- Raymond (8/5): - I would go again
- Mary Anne (10/5): - Convenient location, spacious clean room. Good value
- Scott (8/5): - Good for the price not too many places nowadays are 100 a night
- Crystal (10/5): - The room exceeded expectations. Very clean. Will stay here again.
- Wayne and Pauline (10/5): - Great to stay at comfortable stay!
- Tanya (10/5): - Super friendly staff and really clean!!
- PRESTON (6/5): - The lady at the front desk when we checked in was kind of rude when we couldn't get the key to work. Was clean and comfortable.
- Sarah (10/5): - Stayed here on way to Baxter State Park. Easy check in, friendly staff, clean rooms, very comfortable beds, bars and coffee available for breakfast in nice reading nook. Would definitely stay again if I were in the area.
- Lucas (10/5): - Quiet, clean, comfortable and affordable
- Jody (8/5): - Was working in the area
- Rev Dan (8/5): - The property was centrally located and convenient. Restaurants close by.
- Timothy (6/5): - You get what you pay for. This hotel was about $100 per night. The tv in the room did not work, and the room smelled of marijuana. It was ok for the area.
- Lisa (10/5): - Beautiful fireplace that welcomes you in a peaceful environment, with a cozy decore
- David (10/5): - We had a very nice clean and quiet room. Highly recommend this motel.
- Harold (10/5): - Had a comfortable and clean room.
- Nicole (10/5): - Great place to stay before heading into Baxter State Park for the week. Very affordable, clean and comfy, super convenient. Would stay again!
- Miram T. (10/5): - Wish I could have had fresh air instead of noisy, stale air conditioner
- Kathryn (6/5): Needs to Try Harder - We stayed at the Gateway because it was touted as the gateway to Mt. Katahdin. It is, but they truly could do better if they want tourists to stay. A bunch of utility trucks were there the night we stayed. Maybe that explains the use of dark blue bedsheets…. Our beds were actually hard. And it seemed the heat lamp in our room was wired to turn on every time the lights were switched on in the bathroom. That felt unsafe. They offer breakfast but, be forewarned, it’s basically wrapped pop tarts and granola bars.
- Robert (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff.
- Cooper (8/5): - It is a perfect place if you don’t want to camp out before hiking katahdin. I wouldnt necessarily recommend it for more than 1 or 2 nights but as someone that just stayed 1 night it’s in a quiet area, pretty view at sundown. And a nice stream you can go swimming in a couple minutes down the road. It really did its job for me.
- John (8/5): - Good clean room and friendly staff
- Gordon (10/5): - Great place to spend the night before heading into Baxter park
- Sheila (10/5): - Quiet
- Charles (10/5): - Property was as advertised, very convenient stayed one night on our way to New Hampshire. Had supper at a nice pub that we walked to just down the road called 83 North and breakfast at Grandbellys Cafe both recommended to us by the receptionist at the hotel and both were excellent. Would stay again.
- Michael H (8/5): - Basic but nice motel near Katahdin National monument. Check in person was very nice and the room was clean and comfortable.
- Laurel (6/5): - Very basic, super outdated but clean and the staff were absolutely lovely. Served its purpose and felt safe.
- David (10/5): Warm feeling as soon as your welcomed - Great place to stay. Nothing overly fancy but very recieving. Super nice staff.
- Octavio (10/5): - Friendly people
- Jim (10/5): - This was just what we needed for our trip to Baxter State Park. Thank you.
- Joyce (10/5): - Clean and comfy
- Lillian (10/5): - Staff was very accommodating!
- Michael (10/5): Accommodating - Clean and neat and friendly! Great for what we needed. Plus, the staff were very accommodating. We had asked to be put on a waitlist for a cancellation and they not only called, but also texted. Very nice. Thank you!
- Joyce (10/5): - Easy check in, clean room 104, friendly staff and right off the highway
- Timothy (10/5): - Rooms were very clean and staff was very nice.
- Neel (10/5): - The hotel was very affordable and the the room condition and services were all highly satisfactory. We had a good night's rest and nice, simple breakfast. I would stay there again.
- Mike (8/5): - Friendly and helpful staff; No onsite guest laundry; grab and go continental type breakfast m; I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant getaway in Medway for a visit to KWW - Really nice, clean updated hotel at bargain price. But the beds hard and the pillows need replacement. Bring your own pillows advised.
- Megan (10/5): - My friend and I stayed overnight before hiking Mount Katahdin the next morning. The Inn was super clean and comfortable - the mattresses were pillow top, LVT flooring in the rooms. Looking at some of the photos online, I admittedly was skeptical but the Inn was cute, clean, and fairly modern. The staff were super friendly, checkin was a breeze. We had a great stay and plan to stay again on our next trip to Katahdin!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stained linens and pull out couch (cushions) which made the place feel unclean. Pool used to be a big draw but that’s not an amenity anymore. Overall okay when you need an affordable place to stay in the area, as there’s not much up there.
- Bruce (8/5): - This was a very lovely spot that was quiet and comfortable. The price was fair. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
- Tim (8/5): - Convenient for our needs but we were required to pay extra for a small refrigerator for our room.
- Dennis (8/5): Nice place - Clean and tidy, I expect a remodel in the near future
- Joyce (10/5): - Basic hotel, beds are comfy, small continental breakfast.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Beautiful setting
- John (8/5): - Nice location and priced right
- Theresa (8/5): - Very pleasant people.
- Don (10/5): - Great for a one night stay. They need to change their benefit of free breakfast, unless you consider bread , butter and jelly either coffee or tea breakfast..
- Betty (8/5): Weekend Visit. - Had a great stay 8/25-8/27/23. Very friendly staff and I loved the puzzle pictures on the hallway walls. Lobby was very pretty, with an awesome fireplace and high, wooded vaulted ceilings. One of the staff members has 2 awesome dogs too. Would definitely stay again when visiting my Maine family. One little issue was that the fire alarm went off the first night but that was because a guest down the hall from my room had an extremely hot shower and the steam set off the alarm. Not the staff's fault at all.
- Cyril (10/5): - Was great
