- GRACIELA (4/5): No valió lo que costo - Buenas noches, el lugar es hermoso, nos toco la villa mas pequeña del lugar, pero le voy a enumerar las cosas que no nos gustaron: 1- El costo del alquiler no incluye la limpieza de la villa, lo cual te lo comentan hasta que llegas y mínimo entreguen toda el área limpia, la terraza llena de popo de pájaro, el piso, la mesa y sillas. Pol lo que se pago de alquiler considero que debe de incluir la limpieza de la villa. 2- Muchas cucarachas dentro de la villa, es muy desagradable encontrarse ese tipo de animales. 3- No cuenta con aire acondicionado en el sala, solo ventiladores que no enfrían nada. 4- Su restaurante es muy malo, lo alimentos son buenos pero su carta en muy corta, no hay opciones. Espero esta información le llegue a la persona indicada y puedan tomar en cuenta estos comentarios, saludos.

The food in the resteraunt was excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Best vacation ever!

All our beautiful , spacious and have all that you need with private plunge pools. Several large pools with excellent views. An outdoor bar and restaurant with great options.
- LEE (10/5): - It was so quiet down there that we almost felt lonely - but a very good lonely. We were there mid week. there was nobody on the beach. We walked 2 1/2 miles down the beach, had 2 beers and walked back - saw maybe 10 people total! It's a beautiful, well maintained property. Our aeromexico flight was delayed multiple times but Luisa helped arrange transportation and had someone wait at front desk to check us in. Their communication was fantastic. The beach walks yielded the most impressive whale breaching show I have ever seen. our thanks to Luisa, Manuel, and the rest of the staff for a great stay. We would do it again. If you're looking for a very relaxing, get away from it all vacation - this is it. If you're looking for loud bands and exciting city life - not for you. On a 1-10 scale this is a 9.99! Drawbacks - the front desk closes early, as does the restaurant on site (but the food was great). Cab ride toward Barra de Potosi yielded many more restaurant choices. I only wish I could review the Mexico City airport and Aeromexico with the same glowing comments!
- NealG289 (6/5): Not really a hotel but lovely nonetheless - The property was very nice and the staff was great — friendly, responsive, caring and helpful — but this property is no longer really a hotel; it is more like a private gated community, with villas rented out when their owners are not there. When we arrived, we were surprised to learn that there was limited housekeeping service (we had to ask for our room to be cleaned up, which happened only once during a 5-day stay) and the restaurant was not open for dinner, which required us to take a 25-minute taxi ride into town every evening. In addition, there was no one at the front desk in the evening (though when the manager saw how disturbed we were about this, he gave us his mobile number and told us we could call him at any time). Despite all these issues, we ended up having a really nice time. We had a spacious villa on the beach with a plunge pool on our patio and a beautiful larger pool only steps away. We really liked the manager, and Jaime, Jennifer and Louisa were terrific. This is a nice place to stay if you know what you are getting into, but don’t expect the amenities of a hotel.
- Manuel (8/5): - We had a great time at Marea. The property is beautiful, very nicely kept. The beach is just wonderful, practically all to yourself as there are not many other hotels or restaurants on the beach. Our only disappointment was that the restaurant only serves until 5PM. We would rather enjoy more time during the day and have a later dinner, so this did not work well for us. Also, right in front of the porch and private pool of our unit F27 there were small palm trees planted, which completely blocked the beautiful view of the ocean. This was a big letdown as we were not able to enjoy the view while sitting in the unit's porch or in the private pool. Aside from these issues, everything was great and the people who assisted us during our stay were very nice and very attentive.

Our four bedroom villa was spacious and mostly great. The owners could have provided better quality cooking pans and some minimum amount of condiments. Our unit was I54. I thank the fantastic staff for all of the help we received and the charming waitstaff at the restaurant.

- dustbrother109 (10/5): Fun trip w/ some advice for future travelers - My wife and our two small children stayed here over Thanksgiving break and we really enjoyed ourselves. I want to share some things that will make your stay a little better and may help you make a choice whether to stay here. First off, the grounds are gorgeous. The villas are great too. The views are killer and just the whole place is just lovely. Here are some things to note: 1. The property is about 25 minutes away from town. I knew this going in but with 2 small kids if we left for dinner late the little one would be knocked out by the time we got to the restaurant. It's also about 20 bucks each way which isn't bad but adds up. 2. The restaurant (opens at 9am) closes and front desk staff leave at 5pm. So, plan accordingly. They offered to pick up groceries for us but we didn't take advantage of it. 3. If you decide to stay here, think about renting a car as it makes life easier. (I know rending a car in Mexico is quite an experience but it may be worth it) 4. The food in general from the restaurant was pretty good and the cost was reasonable for the type of property you're staying in. 5. Seems like the weekends is when the fun starts and the restaurant stays open later. If you're looking for a quiet place to get away and be away from crowds and just unwind, come here. You will like it. If you want something more lively, this isn't the place. At least during the week. Also, this might not work if you have smaller kids as things aren't as convenient that far away from town.
- Janice (10/5): - Marea has great management and staff, from Sofia and Luisa who helped me book tours that were just right for my family to Jaime and Jenni at the front desk and the amazing bar and restaurant crew - Fernando, Rodrigo, Carlos and Tirso! Marea is on a 20 km stretch of pure white sand each with almost no one around! The property is beautiful and the villas with plunge pools on the deck, beautiful interiors and comfortable furniture make it hard to want to go beyond your own front (patio) doors!

We wanted a nice, quiet place away from the crowds and Marea fit us perfectly. The place is relatively new and well kept, impeccable really. Guests are mostly families, and the food at the restaurant is really great! We felt no need to go outside to find a restaurant. The beach is beautiful has soft sand and warm, crystalline water. All the staff is friendly and we felt at home: We hope to go back to Marea Beachfront Villas before the end of the year.
- Laura (2/5): Pésima experiencia - Pésimo servicio, me lleve una muy mala experiencia con el personal y con numerosos detalles. - solo tenían una llave ( no tenían copia ni para la limpieza) por lo que para que entrara la mucama me sacaron de mi desayuno para irle a abrir por qué me dijeron que no era confiable dejar abierto 😨 fue una molesta este tema que estuve que estar persiguiendo a la mucama que no llegaba a la hora que decía y luego estar yendo a abrirle. Tuve fuga de gas dos días y toda la villa olía a gas por lo que tuve que salirme y obviamente imposible cocinar ahí por que podía explotar. Por lo que tuve que gastar en pedir pizzas a pesar de que habíamos comprado súper para cocinar. La alberca tiene químicos que te arruinan los trajes de baño. Dos días después de irme me hacen un cargo de $1,700 pesos por un plato despostillado (que seguramente ya estaba así por qué no se nos dañó a nosotros) y por una mancha de pomada en un edredón, se me hizo un exceso y lo cobran a la mala sin estar dispuestos a escuchar. Pésimo no lo recomiendo.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Fabulous location but disappointing - The location is fabulous with amazing ocean views and a virtually deserted beach for walking and swimming. Our suite was tired and definitely in need of a refresh. The continental breakfast was certainly nothing special but the a la carte breakfasts were great. Dinner on the other hand was dreadful! Overcooked shrimp, undercooked pizza, soggy tacos and tiny but expensive glasses of mediocre wine. The paths around the property were difficult to navigate at night due to poor lighting and uneven footing and despite giving us three codes for the gym we didn't get the right one until the third day. We were on a special birthday getaway and were expecting a five star experience. Unfortunately the place just didn't meet our expectations.

- David (8/5): - The resort is perfect for families (18 year old boy and 15 year old girl) wanting to get away from a traditional hotel vacation. Marea apartments are spacious, clean and perfectly located on a beach that stretches for miles. Walk the beach and see Dolphins near the shore and whales breeching in deeper water. You can often be on the beach with no one in sight in either direction. The surf is very rough and we were not allowed to venture out beyond knee high for saftey (rip currents). Hiring a car is a must atying at Marea and the town is only 20 minutes away with a great beach (Playa La Ropa) and fabulous food. Retaurant on property has a limited menu, food is good, but dining is outside and the bugs bite! All in all, a very enjoyable vacation, relaxing with daily trips to the town. Will visit again. Staff are very friendly.
- Lori (8/5): - There were a few issues that popped up with our room and the front desk was very responsive. Restaurant servers were nice. Drinks were a little weak. Loved the quiet pools!! We had transportation from the airport set up with the front desk and were told to pay our driver 500 pesos. Yet when we went back to the airport, it was only 300 pesos. So someone made 200 pesos by overcharging us.

They do, however, need to better explain the free breakfast and we were unable to get any hot water in the shower over our two-day stay. Also, the cleaning staff did not clean glasses or replace coffee, which seems like a possible training issue. However, the beach was wonderful, the pools great, restaurant very convenient and helpful and grounds were fun. A good, enjoyable stay all-in-all.

So nice to be on a beach with few others. The bkfst and lunch were good. Dinner choices were just OK. The staff, both front desk and dining area were amazing.
- James (10/5): - Staff and service was exceptional. I’ve stayed at 5 star properties from Monaco to Maui, and those properties were luxurious to the extreme, the service and staff at Marea were ‘above and beyond’. The villas are modern, each one has its individual pool, the kitchens are equipped for you to cook any type of dish, but we only made coffee, as the restaurant was a nice short walk from ours and again, both the food and service folks were absolutely fantastic and friendly as you’d hope for. The young lady managing it while we were there and her wait staff were super and accommodating. Even during a storm that popped up and knocked out electricity for a few hours, they kept our dinner reservation intact by using their outdoor ovens and grills! But the entire time was restful and rejuvenating. The beach in this area is relatively secluded and it was so nice to take morning and evening walks without stumbling over others. They have a nice gym with a rooftop area for you ha stretching if that’s on your list of things to do. My partner is a Thai bodywork specialist and was particularly impressed with doing our stretches on that rooftop, with sounds from the ocean as a backdrop. The property was developed by folks from Arizona with an emphasis on healthy, stress-reducing environment…and it shows, from the architectural design of the villas and property amenities. If you want a restful, relaxing and pleasant vacation, go there. We are planning a return visit soon!
- Rhoda (8/5): - I loved the Villa. I didn’t like that there was no hot water for showers. And the restaurants food was just OK. My husband got sick with Diarrhea after eating chicken nuggets and french fries. Thankfully, a manager lady and the beverage guy at the restaurant helped with suggestions and gave me white rice and chamomile tea for my husband. I never got sick because I ate something else. But the food was never that tasty or good. We ate there because it was convenient. Too nervous to try too many outside choices after husband got sick on 3rd day of 7 day trip. Disappointing.

The Marea is such a gorgeous property sitting on a beautiful 10 mile long beach, it can’t be beat for a quiet peaceful vacation. The staff is amazing, everyone we came in contact with was so friendly and nice, they do a wonderful job making you feel welcome and are so helpful. Andrea was a joy to meet and so very nice, the bartender in the evening was friendly and made the best spicy margaritas, all the wait staff always went above and beyond, and the front desk staff always friendly and eager to offer help. We are already planning our return trip with family next year. The Marea is a great couples vacation or a great family destination, don’t think twice go and book it!!!

- Jessica Hiromi (10/5): - This property was amazing we wanted to get away and relax and that’s exactly what we did. The restaurant was so good, all the staff were super accommodating and friendly. The only thing I would say is that it is far from anything and we weren’t really informed of any activities that were offered outside of the property
- Perry (10/5): - we stayed in a villa on the first floor right next to the beach.The suite was very well done and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen (which we did not use). The plunge pool right there was great for cooling off after a walk on the beach. The breakfast menu is complete and very well done and the dining room staff is friendly and competent as could be. Our only dissatisfaction was the front desk staff whom we found to be pretty much not interested in helping. Overall, it is a great spot on a wonderful beach.
- William (8/5): - Amazing location. Great staff. We had to move our first room due to a sewage smell. Seems like they are working on adding more sewer plants. The staff was super attentive and friendly. The beach is long and wonderful but you can’t really swim as the rip currents are strong. All-in-all would go again, it’s a good deal!

- Susan (10/5): - The cleaning staff and restaurant staff were helpful, friendly and very good at their jobs. The resort itself was quiet and relaxing, with miles of beach to walk on and our own private pool to lounge around.
- Jeffrey (6/5): Not quite a premium experience - When we arrived, we were very impressed with the property and the setting. We stayed a week and we started a mental list of things that they could do to make it a truely premium experience to match the premium price: 1. They need a shuttle bus. There was no pickup person waiting at the airport so we had to find our own way. Airport pickup would be a nice first impression. Also, the property is about a 15 minute drive outside of Zihuantanejo so a regular/ hourly shuttle would be great. Instead, guests must take a taxi each way and the costs are substantial. 2. They need a generator. Not their fault, but we had a hurricane come by the property and the power got knocked out. 48 hours later it was still out. No power, no AC, no charge for devices. A generator would be a good amenity. 3. Our unit - a penthouse - didn't have hot water. Even if it is hot outside, nothing beats a nice hot shower. Install water heaters please. 4. There is no laundry in the units and no laundry on site. There isn't even a laundry service on site. They told us we had to go into town to clean our clothes. Disappointing. 5. They don't have any sort of on-site store. It would be nice to be able to buy a diet coke, candy bar, toothpaste, etc... Instead you have to go into town. See item 1 above. 6. Small item - the bar doesn't have bar stools (at least not when we were there) and the pool was closed. I enjoy socializing on vacation and it seemed like that wasn't really possible. For us it was just meh.

The food is better on the property compared to the local restaurants. The property is quite and peaceful. Property electrical went out the first night and went out several times during my stay. There is no back up electrical system. Be ready to pay high resort fees. Marea beach villas is not a resort by no means and they will nickel and dime you for everything. If you decide to stay you will see and feel what I mean. The water is salty in the room. they do not have fresh water. They will tell you that when you arrive not to drink the water. They do provide drinking water in 5 gallon containers and will refill when needed.

- greg (10/5): Wonderful stay but.... - No silver awards provided by hotel. Hotel allows dogs and the room next to me had two. They would bark when the owners were gone which made relaxing at times difficult. Over all the property was great and food was delicious.

Good for families as have full kitchens, but is quite far from town so definitely recommend a car if you plan on going to town to shop or hang out. Area is nice in that its isolated, but is very isolated.

- Anthony (10/5): - The property, villas, pools, and grounds were beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The staff was accommodating and friendly. Personally, we did not like how secluded it was, as it really does limit your overall experience. And although the hotel restaurant is a novel concept, it does unfortunately has a very limited menu, and it is a bit pricey, so if you are a picky eater or have kids under the age of 15, then you will definitely have some difficulties with food choices. As stated, the area is very secluded, so if you want to go anywhere to shop, buy groceries, go to a swimmable beach, or do any sort of immersive tourist things in a foreign country, then I probably would not recommend this establishment. We used a trusted taxi driver, contacted through the hotel, who charged us $700 pesos daily (roughly $35USD) for round-trip to Zihuatanejo (about 20 minutes away) as well as to run errands like grocery shopping and 1-2 other stops in town). Although it is quite beautiful, it is more for people who want a secluded vacation in a tropical place, without any real exposure to the local culture or cuisine. Mexico is a beautiful county, rich in culture, but it is very sad to see how hard it is for the people there to get by - especially with the need for fully outfitted Mexican Marines patrolling the streets in order to deter all of the crime there, especially against foreign tourists. It was jarring at times, even for us, and we are from a rougher part of SoCal.

The villa was beautiful and clean.. right on the sand.. the staff was super nice and helpful when needed... the ocean was to crazy to get in the water but the pool was right there... the restaurant was great... we just wanted to relax for a few days and we got just that... total relaxation

Ola Restaurant had really good food and the service was excellent. Yes, it is more expensive, but the ingredients and selection are very good and look where you are!! 3 or 4 day decompression after an all-inclusive in Ixtapa - this was perfect. Not a swimming beach. Big waves all day and no get. Boogie boards are a must.

The entire staff was always kind and accommodating. It's about a 10 minute taxi ride from Jihua/Ixtapa but the perfect place to get away and relax. We ate at the restaurant a few times during our stay, mostly for lunch or dinner, and the food was amazing each time. The Mexican fiesta on Thursday night was great as well.

The gal who took care of cleaning the room was super friendly and left us different great towel art every day which we looked forward to. My husband had his birthday while we stayed there and Elsa and another staff member made up the bedroom with decorations and towel art that was amazing! Alma, Jesus, Darwin and Elsa as well as all the other staff we encountered took extremely good care of us throughout our stay.

- Unhappy (4/5): - Room looks gorgeous, but bed is HORRIBLE - woke w/ back aches. Toilet & closet is outdoors, bugs everywhere, so no A/C. They warn if you use more than tiny packet of coffee you'll pay for more (they don't refill!)! NOT A HOTEL - these are CONDOS w/ concierge...sales materials everywhere & staff repeatedly uttering slogan "welcome home"(seems sweet at first, then you hear it 10 times & see it in brochure...). A "villa" is not separate - it's 3 story bldg, so unless you're at the end, there's little privacy. Not eco friendly -no signs to conserve water/linens, & look at you crazy if you don't want new sheets & mopped floors daily. Staff disregard 'do not disturb' - one day 5 separate knocks! Massage 30 min late, no apologies. At reservation, Andres agrees to arrange something special for bday dinner, then NOTHING done & restaurant (priced like US) says if you don't want existing prix fixe (wife doesn't eat beef), best they can do is a BURGER...even though we ate from lunch menu 4 hrs ago. Andres took zero responsibility for his mistake, went hungry as Darwin ghosted us that night. No bikes as promised, nothing local, must pay for cabs EVERYWHERE! Marea jacks up transport $ FROM airport - 420p when only 280p to leave! Wife VERY ill from Ola's food (did not ingest tap water)- NO accountability. Checked out early due to this, took a week to get promised refund STARTED- Jesus & Alma refused @ checkout! Shifty management, GM ignored emails. Not the Mexico I love at all. AVOID!
- Karen (8/5): - The property is stunning! When you arrive you feel like you’re in paradise. Truly spectacular. The villas are beautifully put, clean and comfortable. The only reason I’m not giving it a 5 star is the consistency of the food at the restaurant (the first morning pancakes were incredible, then they were not, sometimes the had no avocados or fries. The Tiraditas were always amazing!) and the towel service; you have to bring your towel from the villa to the beach and pool area, and return them.
