• Kowalski (10/5): Small lodge, attentive staff, beautiful surroundings, and a memorable experience. - Staff was so helpful our whole time on the island and was able to coordinate complex transportation requirements. The on-site restaurant was so good too! And being only a 10-15 minute (easy) hike to one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil was the cherry on top.

Qualité des repas (breakfast et diner) nettement au dessus de ce que nous avons connu au Brésil : les plats sont simples mais la qualité de la cuisine et des ingrédients est remarquable. Personnel d'une très grande gentillesse. Et la direction de l'hotel est également très accueillante. Je pense que les chambres méritent un léger upgrade.

Una de mis playas favoritas de toda Ilha Grande y un lujo poder aprovecharla en las mañanas y tardes antes de que lleguen / despues de que se vayan los turistas desde otros puntos de la isla. Pedimos ayuda coordinando el transporte de ida al hotel desde Río, super bien el barco pero el taxi no lo recomendaría, me parece mejor tomar un Uber o algún taxi oficial.

• Andrew John (10/5): Idyllic location, great facilities, delicious food, and attentive staff! We can’t wait to visit again. - We had a wonderful stay at the lodge. We booked the room with the sea view (the best room in our perspective) and were blown away by the scenery from the balcony. Aside from that, we loved the location right by the beach, the option to use the SUP’s and Kayaks, the delicious breakfasts (and food/drinks in general from the lodge) and the welcoming and attentive staff. Felipe and the team went out of their way to make us comfortable, answer questions and offer tips on what to do and where to go during the stay. We also appreciated the organized transfer back to Rio for us at the end of the stay. It was the perfect place to end off our vacation and I would highly recommend visiting. There was nothing we didn’t like. We would only say that what room you book could change your experience based on views and privacy expectations. We would recommend booking the room with the sea view to the best experience!
• Barnaby (10/5): A slice of calm in paradise - Just stunning! The only place on the beach, away from the more busy main town. Super welcoming and informative staff, great food, clean and comfortable cabins, very quiet and perfectly located. They also kindly let us check-in early, and helped us arrange a boat back to the mainland (top tip for people leaving in the morning - it’s actually about the same price per person to get a private boat and private taxi back to Rio as it is to get the taxi boat to Abrãao and get the shared boat/minibus). Would definitely come back here! Thank you! Slightly higher prices for food than elsewhere on the island because it’s your only option, which is fair, so would bring some snacks if you don’t want to pay out for every meal. But otherwise, no issues!

• Lucía (10/5): Increíble - Lugar increíble. Está rodeado de naturaleza, alejado de las masas de gente y del bullicio, ideal para desconectar. Queda ubicado sobre praia do Pouso que es hermosa y tranquila, y a 15 min caminando de praia Lopes Mendes. Se puede llegar en kayak o a pie a otras playas ( hay kayaks y tablas de stanup paddle para usar). El desayuno es increíble. Para almorzar se puede optar por un restaurante localizado en la playa. Para cenar la única opción es el lodge, y la comida está bien. La habitación que nos tocó fue la 2, muy amplia, cómoda. Es destacable la limpieza del lodge, todo siempre impecable e impoluto. Es cierto que la deck no es privada y que da a una zona de circulación de las demás habitaciones, pero al ser pocos huéspedes sinceramente no fue un problema en cuanto a la privacidad. Con respecto a la atención al huésped, es un punto excepcional. Sobre todo la atención de Felipe, muy amable y atento en todo momento, hizo que la estadía fuese espectacular. Tener que irnos

• Nicolás Agustín (10/5): Un espectáculo - El lugar increíble. Estás muy cerca de López Méndez por lo que salíamos temprano a la playa y era prácticamente nuestra. Súper limpio y la atención es espectacular. Estuvieron muy atentos, nos consiguieron tours, traslados hasta nos dieron kayaks y máscaras para hacer snorkel. Se ubica muy bien en playa do Pouso que te permite además de estar cerca de Lopes Méndez visitar otras islas privadas cerca. El lugar cuenta con restaurante para comer además de un desayuno muy muy bueno. Lo súper recomiendo y una de las mejores atenciones que he visto Como desventaja está lejos de Abraão que es donde salen la mayoría de tours pero con traslado anticipado se resuelve (anticipado y dentro del horario máximo 167:30 hs porque fuera de hora los taxi barcos salen muy caro)

• stefano (10/5): Un soggiorno indimenticabile! - La struttura è l’ideale per chi cerca tranquillità e un’esperienza autentica di Ilha Grande. Il personale è di una gentilezza disarmante, di grandissima disponibilità e sempre sorridente. La cucina del ristorante (aperto solo per gli ospiti) è eccellente, la colazione completa e abbondante, tutti i servizi sono gestiti in maniera impeccabile. Pulizia perfetta , Wi-Fi sempre funzionante. La posizione nel cuore della giungla ma a 1 minuto da una spiaggia rende i lodge unici! Al momento della prenotazione bisogna essere consapevoli che la struttura è isolata da tutto (no bar, no negozi, no divertimenti) e per raggiungerla è necessario un trasferimento in barca da Abrão. In ogni caso, quando si prenota viene inviata una documentazione informativa molto completa sulle caratteristiche dei lodge, e Felipe che gestisce la struttura per conto della proprietà è sempre pronto a rispondere a tutte le domande. Atlântica Jungle Lodge resteranno uno dei ricordi più belli del nostro viaggio in Brasile! Grazie di cuore per aver reso il nostro soggiorno sull’isola indimenticabile! Gli ospiti che intendono restare nella struttura durante la giornata devono essere consapevoli che dalla spiaggia può arrivare un po’ di rumore/disturbo dalle barche e dalle persone che sbarcano per raggiungere le spiagge vicine (dalle 10 alle 17 circa, poi cala il silenzio assoluto). Per noi non è stato assolutamente un problema perché andavamo via la mattina dopo la colazione e tornavamo solo per cena, e quindi ci siamo goduti in pieno la tranquillità dei lodge.

The view is excellent, the staff couldn't be more welcoming and helping out with tips or even casual conversations, the food they offered was freshly prepared and extremely delicious and the most beautiful beach is only a 15 min walk in nature. We really enjoyed everything and would definitely return 😍 Everything was perfect!

• Michael (10/5): Stay close to beautiful nature - It's a perfect place to stay away from the crowds and close to nature. If you stay here, you will get to enjoy Lopes Mendes beach to yourself each morning before the boats arrive from Abraão and elsewhere, and after they leave in the afternoon. Room #4 is great as outside there is a tree with small red berries that the marmosets and different birds like to eat, and a small patch of trail that catches the sun and attracts the tegu lizards. The food is truly wonderful: breakfast includes fresh juices and fruit, warm bread and eggs - and the dinners are freshly prepared to order. We tried the moqueca, grilled fresh fish and some steak-it was all superb. Finally, a special mention to all the guys working here: Felipe, Conan & Fernando. These guys are so nice, they made our stay even better. I will not add any of the amazing photos I took because you must come and see for yourself. If you find the availability to book here, do it- don't waste your time in Abraão. Highly recommended!

The staff were very attentive with all our needs. Breakfast was at 08am which was kind of late for us, however we got time to explore the beach without the crowds, listen to the morning jungle sounds while the staff were kind to provide us some coffee until the breakfast. Il est le seul à cet endroit et vous aurez donc le sentiment d'être seul sur l'île et pourrez profiter des plages seul le matin et le soir ! La vue est incroyable des chambres et dans les parties communes. Possibilité de voir des animaux prêt en étant dans l'hôtel.

• laurent (10/5): Séjour très agréable et reposant ! - Emplacement très agréable à Praia do Pouso, lodge confortable, bon petit déjeuner et excellents diners le soir mais c'est surtout l'équipe avec Felipe, Fernando et Conan qui, par leur gentillesse et leur accueil chaleureux font toute la différence. Nous avons passé 4 jours formidables ! La plage de Lopes Mendes est à 20mn à pied et il y a d'autres plages très belles ailleurs ; je recommande Santo Antonio tôt le matin. Merci à l'équipe de la part de Laurent et Martine ! On est un peu isolé malgré tout à moins d'utiliser les bateaux taxis mais qui restent assez onéreux. De 16h à 17h un peu de bruit avec tous les gens qui repartent de Lopes Mendes mais après c'est la solitude presque totale

Dalla struttura si accede direttamente a svariati percorsi di trekking (tra cui la spiaggia di Lopes Mendes a 15’). Lo staff è stato gentilissimo e pronto a rispondere a ogni nostra richiesta. La cucina è ottima, dalla colazione alla cena tutto buonissimo. Assolutamente consigliato!!

You’re a 15 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches and you’re guaranteed to see monkeys on the way! The staff was incredibly hospitable and helpful throughout and made us feel at home. They also arranged our travel to the lodge to and from Rio which made the whole trip stress free. All the food we ate was so fresh and homemade. Fruit juices were freshly squeezed. Even the scrambled eggs were absolutely delicious. Bread rolls were served warm. The ocean views were spectacular, truly paradise. The taxi and boat transfers were well organized. We couldn’t stay there forever.

Location From what we could tell, this is the only hotel on Pouso beach, which makes it the closest place you can stay to Lopes Mendes beach. The hotel is a little way up into the jungle (very minor walk) which gives you beautiful views over the bay. Every room has view of the jungle and sea, with the restaurant area being particularly gorgeous. To get to Lopes Mendes you can take the more direct route, which takes around 20 minutes through the jungle and is very much up-and-down, and takes you to the most popular end of the beach. This is where day trippers tend to go and there are a few mini stalls selling cold drinks. The other route takes roughly 40-minutes to an hour, is more flat, and takes you to the quieter end of the beach. We tried both, and both are amazing, but the seclusion of the quieter end was our favourite. The trade off is there is you have to do a 30-minute round trip along the beach to get a cold drink. The Room We had room number 2, which had a huge bed, a spacious area with a sofa and coffee table, a good shower, and a lovely area our the front with tables, chairs, and a hammock. The Staff All of the staff were ridiculously friendly and thoughtful. We’re going to hit another cliche here, but it genuinely felt like they couldn’t do more for us. Noticing we had left an unopened drink outside of our room and taking it and placing it in their fridge to keep cool, is a small example of the kind of thoughtfulness that was constantly on display. The Food The breakfast was huge and delicious. The best we had in 3 weeks throughout Argentina and Brazil. Yoghurt, fruits, granola, and jam; a selection of fresh breads that were still warm; meats and cheese; and the option for fresh eggs and tapioca. We even overheard the staff offering to keep the breakfast for another couple to have at lunch because they were going to out too early. Cliche number 3! But there is nothing to fault.

• Matthias (10/5): Perfect paradise! - What a place in paradise! If you are lucky, you will be able to spend time in the Atlantica Jungle Lodge, surrounded by tropical paradise and the kindest hosts ever. The food freshly prepared for every meal is exceptional homecooked.

Try the sea bass or the shrimp. The location is second to none. The only bad thing was that the AC was only on during the night. Because there is no electricity they run on solar power. But other than that it was completely amazing. 10/10

• Florian (10/5): Tropical Island Gem - The pousada is located in a beautiful bay surrounded by only tropical plants. The beach is clean and tranquil. There is not much happening apart from daily boat tours arriving and dropping off tourists that hike to other beaches. The staff is super welcoming and attentive, they organize everything you need (like boat transfers to other areas). The dinner was great (try the moqueca!). The room was clean and spacious. You can walk to another beach through the jungle (20min) - called Lopes Mendes There are a lot of mosquitos at dinner (not the hotels fault - but beware). Also the beach is not good for snorkeling as the water gets clean but is muddy after some meters. So you don’t see a lot - which also is not the hotels fault. But there are great diving schools like “Scuba Dive Ilha Grande” who take you to the other side of the islands where visibility is great.

• Irini (10/5): - Outstanding stay! The views were amazing and the sounds of nature are wonderful at night. The staff is exceptional, professional and personable ready to help with anything. The hotel is in a quiet area with nothing else around it besides the floating restaurant which operates until 16:00 so we enjoyed relaxing, going to the beach, and reading. I loved every aspect of it!

• James (10/5): - Atlantica Jungle Lodge is possibly the most beautifully situated hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The constant sound of the ocean and jungle sounds made me feel like I was Robinson Crusoe. Ihla Grande is a beautiful island and this was an amazing rest and break from the world, just 15 minutes walk from Lopes Mendos beach, which is jaw dropping. Don’t stay anywhere else on Ihla Grande, this is heaven. But bring mosquito spray!

Private transfers to and from the island were smooth. We would have liked more comfortable chairs or cushions on our terrace chairs.

Best location to visit Lopes Mendes beach as boats can’t stop at that beach since it’s part of the natural park. The hotel offers excellent food and the staff couldn’t do more to help you. If you wish to visit Ilha Grande then I would recommend this place without hesitation, especially for couples

• Nikolai (10/5): A hidden gem - Atlantica is a piece of paradise. The property is located right on a secluded beach with direct access to the path (10-15min walk) to one of the best beaches in the world - Lopes Mendes. The rooms are spacious and clean and furnished very well. The Lodge has a dedicated restaurant with excellent ingredients and dishes. Felipe, Fernando, and the rest of the staff are always there to assist with travel arrangements, island details and food recommendations. I recommend getting up early to the medley of jungle sounds (alternatively we heard no motorboat sounds until ~10am which is a major plus) and making use of all the island has to offer.

• Danilo (10/5): Paradise - This place is paradise, one of the most beautiful hotels and location I’ve ever had the chance to see. Felipe and Fernando were both amazing, very friendly and made our stay memorable - thank you so much! Food was great, rooms were great, they even had Kayaks, Paddle boards and snorkeling masks available. I hope to be back soon!

• Erica (10/5): Lovely stay at Atlantica! Would highly recommend. - The staff at Atlantica are wonderful. Very kind and friendly people and willing to help with any request. The location is beautiful and very peaceful, nothing but the sounds of the ocean and rainforest. It is also only a short walk to Lopes Mendes beach so it is easy to arrive before any tour boats come and stay later so you can have the beach almost to yourself. The food at the restaurant was also exceptional. Simple and delicious but some of the best meals we had on our Brazil trip, compliments to the chef! It does take a little extra effort to reach the lodge as you need to coordinate an additional boat ride to get to the property but well worth it! We are very glad we stayed and a big thank you to Phillipe and the rest of the staff at Atlantica!

• Simon (10/5): A Place Like Paradise - What an exceptional place. The whole area is very beautiful, and the lodge is situated in the midst of nature, being off-grid yet still offering all the comfort you would expect. At night, you only hear the waves and the crickets, and occasionally, some monkeys. At morning, you're greeted with marvellous views across the bay. Laying in the hammock and gazing upon the ridiculously beautiful bay (you can't stop staring at it) will stay in our memory forever. Glad we took so many pictures of it. The staff is incredibly nice, provide you with helpful tips and really make you feel special. They are also fluent in English. The food was very good. This is true for both the breakfast and the dinner (a la carte) - we tried several dishes and all were very good, well-made and you could taste that they were made with love. As a hobby chef I always feel like I'm quite demanding, but I was not disappointed. Totally recommend the place. Everything was great - totally worth the money!

• Ryan (10/5): Such a special way to spend a couple days. - This was truly such a special place! There were no other hotels around (and this one only has 4 rooms!) so you can really relax and just be. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, helping us to book transportation to and from Rio and pointing us in the right direction to discover various hiking trails and beaches. It was nice to feel like we were eating homecooked meals while we were there, too. Despite being quite "off the grid," the AC ran at night and we had plenty of hot water. Everything about the lodge was incredible. Definitely prepare for BUGS at night – once the sun went down I would put on long pants, long sleeves, and socks because they got so bad. The rooms were well sealed so this was only an issue outside. But this is no fault of the hotel, of course – just something to keep in mind and prepare for :)
