Guest Reviews
- Rachel (10/5): FANTASTIC! -
- denise (8/5): good stay for the cost - adequate accommodations for the cost. Had an issue with the smoke detector and it was remedied quickly. Quiet location. Spacious room. bed was clean and comfortable floors not as clean as it could have been. Needs a deep cleaning.
- Guzzi (10/5): - Clean good value and huge room Nothing
- Mark (4/5): We will never stay there again! - Large room, ice machine worked. A little dirty. Bed was hard as a rock, even hard bed fans would have slept very little and woken up with sore backs. Got a knock on the door 15 minutes before check out, saying we had 15 minutes. RUDE!
- Gentry (10/5): - Clean and location was great Everything was good.
- Terry (8/5): -
- Mary (9/5): Very good stay - Very good location. Room was nice and big. Outside was very beautiful. Shower curtain had a funny smell...not good. Bring your own Pillows
- angie61276 (9/5): This is a nice, clean place to stay for a weekend in Abingdon!!! - The location is very central to all the best things in Abingdon, especially the Virginia Creeper Trail. They do not offer breakfast or complimentary toiltries.
- Summer (8/5): -
- Amber (10/5): - Large, clean rooms and Large green area out front.
Also the totally cool 50's vibe.
- April (9/5): - I enjoyed how it was tucked away from traffic and it also had a beautiful view of the mountains. The people were nice and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
- Emma (8/5): -
- Mary (9/5): -
- LYNN (10/5): Excellent location and value. We have stayed here many times and will return again! - Clean, large rooms. No coffee maker in the room.
- Donald (8/5): - Clean, conveniently located and well maintained.
- Luke (9/5): -

- GRAHAM (8/5): I loved it. - There is no breakfast, only coffee. I love the spaciousness of the room, the quietness, the view, and the low price, (when compared to Holiday Inn). The door is only feet away from where you park, so there is no long haul of luggage. The shower head has the option for a wonderfully refreshing and powerful stream that is rare in most motels. Some towels and the shower curtain had stains on them. There was no shampoo. The sheets were not tight on the bed.
- Robert (7/5): -
- Elizabeth (6/5): The price can't be beat, so it's a good value if you're not picky about mattresses and A/C noise. - The view was very nice: rolling pasture and mountains. The room was large with laminate flooring, a nice departure from carpeting. I liked the vibe: guests sat outside their rooms on lawn chairs, provided by the motel, to take in the view. The mattress made my back a little sore, although my husband thought it was fine. The shower curtain was slightly mildewy. The air conditioner was kind of loud.
- Jeffrey (8/5): -
- Maiden (9/5): Everything I was expecting and wanted. - Convenient location. Quiet. Friendly staff. Clean. The ice machine didn't work 3 of the 4 days I stayed there.
- Mary (10/5): -
- Douglas (7/5): - Convenience, old character, location Aged and a tad sad.
- Lora (7/5): - Location and price Room seemed bare; towels and washcloths old and cheap; sink stopped up
- Scales (8/5): This was a comfortable place to stay between hikes. - It’s a really good value, the room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. I liked that I could drive right up to the door. The lights outside the window were very bright and the curtain didn’t keep the light out well.
- Susanne (8/5): Comfortable, clean stay - Very convenient to the Creeper Trail.
Room was clean. Dated but it was okay.
Missing a hairdryer Door was not tightly sealed to the outside
- Wade (9/5): - Good value, exceptional clean. Scenic views from the room. Spacious rooms. Safe.
- connie (7/5): Fair could be better - Great location
Big rooms Mattress cheap
No breakfast
- Teddy (10/5): Best motel that I have ever stayed in - It was a quiet stay for me and my friend told the clerk that I enjoyed my stay there There were no dislikes
- Roberto (7/5): -
- Virginia (7/5): Not the Ritz, but clean and adequate. - Simple, but adequate accommodations. Clean room and friendly staff. I would return.
- seamen305 (9/5): I totally enjoyed every aspect of my stay there - The place is surrounded by a wonderful garden and very tranquil, despite its convenient location and being close to everything you may need. The rooms are very large and clean, and the staff is very helpful and kind. You rarely would find so much value for the price. the AC is a little too noisy..
- John (10/5): - Quiet and convenient.
- Martha (10/5): -
- Amy (7/5): - The rooms are very spartan but clean. Beds are comfortable. Staff is great.
- Michael (10/5): - Clean room, bare essentials, decent towels, decent bed and tv
- joseph (10/5): - Check in was easy and the room is very clean.
- Sharon (6/5): Budget friendly - Motel is easy to get to right off of I81. Convenient parking in front of your door with no steps which was a plus. I always check room for cleanliness when I arrive. One bed was clean, the other looked like it had been slept in. Hair and dirt in the bed. Went back to the office and they moved us to the room next door. Beds were clean, room was not. Very dusty, cob webs on the curtains and in the corners and stink bugs all over the wall. We addressed this with the owner. He came in with a vacuum cleaner and cleaned up the bugs and webs. The bathroom appeared clean, I'm not sure about sanitary. Being a professional house cleaner, this place did not appeal to me. The rooms were newly renovated with new furnishings. It was very basic. 2 beds, I nightstand, TV, desk and rolling desk chair. There were no comfortable chairs to sit in to watch TV and the first night our TV didn't work. There was a container and bags for the ice machine and disposable cups. It was all covered in dust. No coffee maker or hair dryer. It did have a microwave and mini fridge which appeared new and was clean. The air conditioner was old but very cold. All of our concerns were addressed very quickly. The staff was friendly enough. There was hot coffee in the office in the morning with sugar and powder creamer. No breakfast items as advertised. If you are looking for a basic room with a bed to sleep in that's budget friendly, this is your place. Otherwise, i wouldn't stay here. I would not stay here again
- Barbara (2/5): - Beautiful setting and large room, as others noted. However, room was not clean. Bathroom floor had droplets in front of toilet, and scum in tub. I’ve never posted a review before, but I felt obligated. I’m not a fussy person, but this was unacceptable. Will never stay here again. Price is not worth it.
- Jean-marc (9/5): -
- Larry (8/5): Not fancy but quite adequate - Clean, comfortable, convenient to Interstate 81 Tub showers should be replaced with walk in showers
- Nora (4/5): - The bedspreads had wholes and beds looked like the covers were just pulled up and not changed but it could have been because the bedspreads were so old. The motel was in great area but looks like they are trying to just stay open on bare minimum.
- Kekistani (5/5): A dissapointing slide in performance from my favorite motel. - Housekeeping crew was respectful.
Room was spotlessly clean.
Walking distance from the best Greek salad & breadsticks on Earth. Despite only a fraction of the rooms being occupied, they felt the need to put me in one with a badly broken window.
It was only the inner of a double pane, but still, unsightly. Told the office about it - no interest.
No sound insulation from adjacent room; had to listen to the sound effects of my neighbors game.
WiFi kept blocking DuckDuckGo, and YouTube.
- Robert (4/5): - We stayed for 4 nights. We had to kill over a dozen stink bugs over the days there. There was a gap below the front door. We tried to cover it with a blanket from our car. Still had to deal with the bugs (probably mostly when the staff came in to clean and left the door open. The towel bar by the sink was not fastened tight and came off a couple of times. The light in the bathroom was full of dead insects. I cleaned it out. The floor was nice but very dirty and our showers showed a lot of dirt in them from our feet. The cover for one of the beds had a lot of tears in it. I like the location and would like to stay again, but there needs to be a lot of work done to make it a better place. Rm 110
- Jan (8/5): - Enjoy view and spaciousness/ cleanliness of room—-very peaceful with lovely view
- Elizabeth (8/5): Great budget place to stay in Abington. - Location, close to downtown with a beautiful mountain view. Room very clean - I especially like rooms without rugs as they never get clean and the imitation wood floors look much better.
- James (8/5): - Quiet and neutral smell although the room was somewhat stark
- Jim (7/5): - Location and price. We had two double beds in our room but just one chair. Some wall art would have given a lift to the room.
- Richard (8/5): I’ll be back - Nothing fancy but clean, comfortable, and quiet. Its kept up quite nice considering the age of the place. My grandparents stayed there in the 70’s. Nice view. The gentleman who worked the office was friendly. Nicely situated. I would stay here again.
- Rebecca (8/5): - No hangers, tissues. Roach traps around.
- Rebecca (10/5): - One of the good ones in every sense of the word! Somewhat outside of Abingdon itself but really easy to get to from the Main Street. Quiet, very clean, very helpful and nice staff, some absolutely beautiful views all around the place. A very enjoyable Mexican restaurant very close by, delicious food with great prices. I would love to stay here again any time, seriously.
- Robert (10/5): Great service! - I was in town. because my friend had a motorcycle accident and broke his leg and was in the local hospital. Found this hotel last minute. Danny Patel was outstanding. I stayed until my friend's wife arrived the next day. Danny let me book another room for her, so I could leave my friend's stuff in it and give her the room key. Danny also let me park my motorcycle in his carport as it was raining when I got there.
- Nelson (6/5): - Room was clean but towel rack torn off wall & no shampoo
- James (10/5): Chose this hotel many times over the years.... - Nothing fancy, but clean. Large room, basic appointments, quiet, and did I say clean?
- Roger (10/5): - Loved my stay
- Daniel (6/5): - ok
- Joshua (8/5): -
- Frank W (8/5): - We were looking for a last minute, close to Abingdon motel/hotel and appreciated the price. Generally clean, and also simply updated it met our needs. I did have to clean the air conditioning filter in order to reduce the mustiness and improve the cooling capacity.
- laurie (9/5): Very clean and comfortable. - Very spacious rooms. Incredibly clean and a great view. Excellent value! Liked it all.
- Valerie (10/5): Perfect!!! - Peaceful, quiet, safe location with a very scenic view. N/A
- joseph (10/5): - Easy check-in, good location, quiet.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Perfect little stay for the price. - Place was a perfect retro motel with modern rooms. Staff was friendly and room was extremely clean. The view from our window was beautiful and the property views were amazing and it was very quiet even though this is so close to the interstate.
We will be staying here again in the future. There were no toiletries in the room other than soap. Which on average is fine we just forgot to bring any this trip and ended up going to the store. Not a lot of communication about the coffee bar as I didn’t realize it was available until we were at check out. As there were no coffee makers in the rooms.
- sandra (10/5): - This is a great little motel with beautiful views.
There is great dinning options a short drive to historic town 2 miles away.
- Mick (9/5): - Location and lawn chairs to look out over the pasture No in room coffee pot or shampoo
- chris (10/5): - This was a great little motel.
- Samuel (10/5): - Great mountain views, bring your chair and enjoy cow pasture and long range views from ypur door step.
- Keith (10/5): - Good quality mom and pop motel.
- Jeanne (8/5): Good stay - Great place for the price
- Frances (4/5): -
- Frances (5/5): Beautiful views extremely safe, but very poor quality bed, linens, and towels - The location in the views are fabulous The blankets on the bed were badly torn with large holes. The sheets were extremely poor quality and had “pills”. The towels were extremely thin and stained. I think all the bed linens and towels need to be thrown away. The sink would not drain in our room. I usually love my stay, but this time I was unhappy on many different levels with the main thing, being the bed linens and the old towels. The shower curtain was aged, and that needs to be pitched also.
- Melinda (10/5): - Large rooms, clean, quiet
- Cody (10/5): - Has some great views right off the property and the neighbors are a group of cows
- Sylvie (8/5): - It was perfect for a quick stop/sleep and go!
- Sine (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (6/5): So-so - The sheets were questionable and the AC was loud, but it was inexpensive.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Older property but extremely clean. Love parking at room,
- Bonnie (10/5): - Basic but extremely clean, comfortable and convenient.
- TERRI (8/5): Good for the price - Mostly it was good. But non-smoking room smelled a bit like smoke, and air conditioner was quite loud.
- Rex (9/5): Superb -
- Cynthia (4/5): Disappointing - We already knew where it was at There was a dead cockroach in the floor we didn't have near enough towels or pillows we only had one washcloth the floor wasn't clean the bed sheets still had someone else's hair all over them there was no coffee pot or hair dryer when we arrived the room was hot and it stank
- Fields (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fields (10/5): Exceptional -
- Greg (6/5): - It was good.
- Paul J (10/5): - Alpine Motel is always consistent. No frills but clean, remodeled with friendly staff members. Abingdon is a great artsy town for an overnight break on the way to my destinations.
- Wesley (10/5): Nice older property - Excellent area, friendly staff and clean.
- Mary (8/5): Alpine Hotel - Perfect place if you want a quite, clean, no frills place to crash enroute to another destination. Good Mexican restaurant next door.
- BikerAnnieF (8/5): Great vibes at this roadside motel - Great motel! Very clean, large rooms, wonderful host. Room has hard floors and all the basic amenities. Lovely view and so superior in every way to the chain motels. Not fancy, but if you want a classic clean and safe motel, it’s a clean and safe motel. I would stay there again. Highly recommend!
- Lady (10/5): - Nicely manicured property, updated rooms, friendly staff, beautiful view.
- LISA (8/5): - Clean room quiet settings and smoking available
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (8/5): - Clean and spacious room, no frills.
- Brian (4/5): unacceptable - They come walking up owners. The cleaning people and they were rude.Acted like we didn't belong there The claiming people were awful, they demanded to leave.Or It was trimatizing to be so tired and have to go In the porning rain and finds up the nails
- Ralph (10/5): very nice. - Did not do breakfast. Very clean rooms. Nice location for what I needed.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Older place but updated. Quiet. :)
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): - Nice place, clean and safe.
- Jeff (5/5): Passable - Location I booked a Non Smoking room and I didn’t get it! YUCK! Room stunk!
The bed covers were old and didn’t look clean they need replaced. No toiletries at all.
Smoke detector batteries were missing.
- Nikki (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): I always stay here when in the area - This establishment is a basic, clean, renovated 1960’s era motel that looks the part. It is recently renovated with new bedding, flooring and bath and has in room refrigerator and microwave. Did I mention how clean it is? If you are looking for fancy and a cheap breakfast of banana and bagels this is not for you. If you want a basic, comfortable, and clean room at good value compared to its competitors this is the hands down choice in the Abington area. I don’t think there is a pool or exercise room. I saw a coffee pot in the office but I don’t believe they offer any food. No shampoo, or lotion in the bath. I don’t use either the pool or the exercise room when I travel through and I always bring my own toiletries even at the fancy places I stay so providing that would only add cost at no benefit to me.
