Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (1/5): - I never got to stay there. This would have been the 3rd year of us staying there when we go visit our friends. However this year they had a plumbing issue on Thursday night. The staff was very nice and sorry and I can understand having an issue. Said they would call me Friday morning by 10 to let us know if we needed to find accommodations for the other two nights. I called twice and even left a voicemail on Friday and no one ever got back to me. It’s a cute little place but idk if we will be trying to stay there again. I can understand an emergency but if a customer leaves a voicemail at least call them back instead I just booked other accommodations. Luckily there were no charges to dispute.
- CJ Romecki (8/5): - The location was great and the cleanliness of the room was good There was no staff. You interacted via phone
- Sally (7/5): - The over all room was nice! The tub was not cleaned at all! We had to clean it ourselves. They could have done a better job at making it rt.
- McFall (1/5): Dirtiest front for running drugs and women I've ever seen - Someone destroyed my room before I got there and the owner refused to refund my money even though all the rooms were full and couldn't make and accommodations. Also owner wasn't on property he was in a truck stop down the road and unreachable by phone. And a major criminal. Sleazy roach invested property. Don't book you won't get anything for it. Everything
- Tammy (10/5): The room was nice and clean and comfortabe and peaceful the food at the truck stop was good and the people was great esp - Nice ,clean and peaceful There was nothing I didn’t like
- Amber (5/5): Currently being renovated but got the job done for us - There was a small kitchenette area that was handy but only had a microwave and toaster. The fridge was quite big for a motel room. Rooms are accessed via kin code and we had an issue as we couldn’t call the US phone number from our overseas phones. They are in the middle of renovations, which was fine with us but I hope they replace the washer in the dripping tap and save water. Don’t use the BP next door, go to the Sonoro just down the road. It has a better selection and much nicer staff

- Gena Stephens (8/5): - Quite and clean. The truck stop nearby is owned by same. The food was delicious. My room had a heater with a fancy remote that was too high tech for my age and mind. I never could figure it out. It was cold weather and according to my research online the heater was actually an air conditioner that pulled outside air thru it. So naturally I stayed cold but I used my Macgyver skills and used the hair dryer and shower to heat my room.
- Barbara (5/5): Good - It was clean and comfortable. At first a bit skeptical because no one being around. Never checked in before via texts! But once we settled in was satisfied!
- Tim (9/5): - This was very clean, a very quiet place and very peaceful for our rest after full days at the Ark and Creation Museum!! The only complaint is there was only 1 ice cube tray in the small frige freezer and with no big ice machine available, this caused a inconvenience for us.
I asked for a 2nd one and did not get a response.
- Joseph (7/5): - The clean room and the relative peacefulness. You advertise free breakfast but then trick people into going to an old truck stop for 10% off of an overpriced breakfast.
- James (5/5): Noisy. - Did not have breakfast The upstairs down stairs deal was an issue. We couldn't sleep most of the night due to people up stairs.
- Wanda (1/5): No words, jut awful, blood on the mattress - Nothing Nasty, mold, I would not stay there.
- Maksim (10/5): -
- Teresa (9/5): - The location We had no water half the night and had no toilet paper
- Kelen (8/5): -
- Carmen (10/5): -
- Nick (8/5): Great stop off spot for traveling - Easy access off freeway No complaints
- Dalton (1/5): - Nothing they canceled my reservation the day before I was going to stay and the front desk guy never answered my calls or called me back
- Stephanie (10/5): - Very clean and right off the highway You couldn't turn on the air conditioner if you got hot.
- Olha (9/5): -
- Girlie (8/5): -
- Benjamin Robison (8/5): - The location of everything we needed was great Room was what we needed
- Anastasiia (8/5): -
- Anastasiia (9/5): -
- David (8/5): - Great stay. Friendly staff. Easy check in and out. Clean facilities.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Convenient access to highway. Quiet. Perfect for solo travelers. Needs major repairs and updating. This barely walks the line between cleanliness and acceptability and not.
- Yarger (7/5): -
- Brian (7/5): - It was quiet. Bed was comfortable. Discount on dinner and breakfast at their restaurant right up the street. The food was good. We didn't have toilet paper. Had to go to their (that they own) convenience store up the road to get some.
- Howard (4/5): No provision for late arrival. - Arrived at 9pm. Office and adjoining restaurant closed. No visible notice as to how to check in. Only a few rooms.
- Darryl (8/5): Nice simple no frills hotel. - Nice simple no frills hotel. Slow response to checking in, towel replacements and check in. If you need a clean non-expensive alternative to most hotels near the Ark Encounter, this fits. Hotel is for a place to sleep, shower only. No restaurants right by the hotel. Lots of restaurants within a 10 minute drive. Call Hotel a couple of hours before check in to receive a text message with door code and WiFi password. No office at the hotel location.
- John (6/5): - It was ok. Floor was wet and didn't have anything to wipe up. Room was clean but needed things updated or finished. Very old microwave and no coffee pot.
AC was cold so that was good.
- Austin (6/5): - Ok, so I have stayed here before and I would say that it’s gone downhill a bit. When I opened the room, it smelled like old fish. Property was a bit run down and worn, but for the price, I’d give it a C+. The shower and bathtub were on point!
- Ron (2/5): - Stopped by tried to check in and nobody around
Plus the property was very dirty
Could not even stay there
- Kristin (4/5): - Holes in walls patched but not painted. Very small room. Looks totally out dated I liked no carpet but I needed sweeping. No coffee available
- Sue (2/5): - Refrigerator made a racket like the motor was going bad. Something was chirping in another room sounding like a smoke detector needing a battery. Won’t stay again.
- Christopher (2/5): - I wish I could give this place zero stars. There was a strange woman wandering around the parking lot who appeared to be on drugs. The code sent to me wouldn’t open the door. Finally got the right code and got in. The room had not been touched. There were towels on the floor. There was trash in the room. The icing on the cake was there was blood on the sheets. When I called the motel they wanted me to go check another room to “see if it was cleaned”. He also told me it wasn’t his fault what people did in the room and was very rude. Didn’t even refund my money for the night. I wouldn’t stay here for a thousand dollars. Stay elsewhere!!!
- Kristin (6/5): - No staff to request the removal of garbage. Walls with plaster need to be panted. Lots of flys. Floor needs cleaning. Location is very good. Beds were comfortable. Very quiet. Very run down. No coffee on premises. Need coffee maker in room. Need instructions for use of shower.
- Donna (6/5): - The owner was very friendly. There have been some recent upgrades, such as the AC unit, which was very nice. For the price, I feel like its a fair room. It was not the cleanest room I've stayed, but not the dirtiest either. As other reviews have stated, there was a lot of moisture in the room, more than outside even. I assume that was the reason for the strong mildew smell. All together, it was okay.
- David (4/5): - Couldn’t believe it got a 10 on your reading. No coffee or machine. No ice machine. Room lights burned out. Ask for a light bulb twice but was never delivered. Was advised to go to their restaurant. A half mile away if we wanted coffee or ice. Wasn’t sure they would bring me or replace lights twice, but never happened. clean but still a work in progress. Over priced.
- Ashley (10/5): - This is a nice little place! Rooms are clean and comfortable and staff is really nice. Office manager is a really nice guy and very helpful. Also they have a restaurant that is down the road which has great food. Definitely recommend and will stay again!
- Nancy (10/5): - This little country motel is not the Ritz, however, the room was very clean, no bugs, peaceful, quiet and comfortable. Very reasonably priced.
- Mary (10/5): - Room was clean and had an amazing shower!!
- Farris (9/5): -
- Judy (2/5): Creepy place - My husband made a 2-night reservation at The North Star Inn. First appearance gave me creepy vibes. The bedspread had lots of stains, but the sheets were clean. There was also a mouse hole in the baseboard. There was a strange bar above the bed. Weird. The manager was not on site; he was working at a restaurant down the road. He had a phone number to call. He gave us the lock box number. He said he would give us a 15% discount since there was no breakfast offered at the site. Since it was late, I told my husband we'd stay for one night, which we did. The road noise was really bad, too.
- Naomi (10/5): Clean - If clean, and not fancy, is what you're looking for, you will be fine here. Older property could use some renovation, but room was clean and had everything we needed for late arrival and early departure.
- Princess (8/5): Our trip to Kentucky - Do not judge the motel by its cover. The room was delightful. Be sure to go to the truckstop across the bridge to check-in with Sam. We were confused at first. The owners are friendly. We enjoyed our stay.
- Daniel (10/5): - The motel room was clean and had a well kept bathroom and kitchenette, as well as small working freezer and fridge. Also dog friendly was a big plus. Only complaints would be we forgot shampoo and their were no small courtesy shampoo or soap that are usually in motels, and there were no usb plugs, but other than that was a good value.
- Marlin (7/5): -
- Andreea (7/5): Cute little inn by the highway - Clean small room, close to highway, nice little kitchenette, comfortable pillows and bed No one present to check in but expected for a small inn
- Linda (8/5): - A Local Thriving facility, Sam mgr. & staff they are Congenial & Genial. The room, is clean, interior arranged with primarily updates with minor refinery kitchen & bathroom accessories.
- Dianne (8/5): -
- Ron (6/5): - It was quiet, comfortable bed. It had what we needed: bed, bathroom, air conditioner, refrigerator. Affordable. No frills.
Outdated furnishings; damaged trim & wall.
- WILLIAM (4/5): - leaking bathtub faucet
- Alexander G (6/5): A trip to days gone by. - It is under new management and they are working hard to improve the condition. It is an old two story motel and the price we paid reflected the condition. Overall its a 5 out if 10 but we were satisfied given rhe price. Truckstop, owned by them as well nearby gave a discount and should not be missed. It was a blast from the past as was the motel.
- Candace (8/5): - Met our needs for a place to sleep. Pet friendly. Staff excellent!
- Serhii (8/5): - Excellent location 12min from Ark Clean , normal price
- Candy (10/5): Nice Place to Stay - The motel was a bit older but was being revamped and made comfortable!
Price was reasonable; discounted meals at the sister Restaurant and management was eager to make us comfortable.
- Marlin (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): - They were friendly and informative. Comfortable and quiet room. We really enjoyed our stay. It was right in the middle of the places we were visiting on our stay. We would of liked to be around some things to do such as trails but it was ok with us to be able to just relax also
- Shawn (10/5): I was skeptical at first because of the location. But we would definitely stay here again. You can’t beat the price and - The price, the bed was very comfortable and I have a bad back and slept like a baby and felt great the next morning. Loved the fact you’re able to check in at anytime. I have no complaints.
- Steven (7/5): We got a good night's sleep and for someone just needing a place to stay the night, we'll be back. - It was very clean. The A/C system worked well and it was quiet when running. Nice kitchenette. Shower head needs changing and a night light in the bathroom needed.
- Christopher (10/5): Great Stay - Got to the property at 6pm. Office was locked with a sign to call a local number. Instructions were left via text how to enter our room.
Very nicely renod. Comfortable and simple, everything worked as it should.
At 11:45 pm, someone was beating on different doors of the motel. 101-104. Possibly looking for a rental office.
Will definetly return. Very nice owners.
- Michael (7/5): Disappointed - The view. The internet was down. I only spoke with management over the telephone. Tv remote did not work. The bathroom tub was dirty. The iron didn't work.
- Linda (9/5): Superb - nice & clean...comfortable beds... totally quiet... offers discount at the truckstop for meals
- Mary Ellen (8/5): - Dirty surfaces, and floor. Strong cigarette smoke odor. Refrigerator froze our food.
- Deloris D (10/5): - The North Star was a great choice little old but very clean and Sam was great would definitely recommend staying here we will be making another trip to the ark and this is where we will stay
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Very clean, quiet, and easily accessable.
- Jesse (8/5): Very good -
- Kazzzooo (7/5): Ok for a short simple stay. - I liked being able to park right at the door. I liked having 2 windows--front and back.
I could tell the cleaning staff do a good job.
The wifi worked well, as did the a/c.
Number code push button lock was convenient. The shower temperature fluctuated from scalding hot to lukewarm throughout a somewhat short shower.
The baseboards are missing in some spots.
The place just seems tired, but could be fixed up without too much effort.
We planned to eat at the restaurant adjacent, but it is closed.
No ice available on site.
Road noise was a bit much, but quiet through the night.
- Wanda (8/5): - Overall it was good
- Bonnie (3/5): I would not stay here again. - The motel was right off the interstate and easy to find. Check in was difficult and they did not replace used towels.
- Dannielle (10/5): It was amazing!! The staff was awesome!!! The owners went above and beyond to help with anything we needed! And the rest - It was just simple Nothing to dislike
- Michael (6/5): - A work in progress. The room was clean and comfortable. It appears that updates are in process, with a new heater/AC unit, newer flooring that was bubbled near the kitchenette area, missing trim and a patched area where the old A/C unit used to be. The toilet seat was not attached properly and would slide if you shifted your weight at all. A decent place to stay if price and cleanliness are your primary concerns.
- Chasity (10/5): Great! - Very clean, peaceful and great room.
- Robin (9/5): Superb -
- Joni (4/5): Disappointing - Clean, comfortable, clean bedding, but everything worked. They do have a toaster and coffee maker with one coffee pack. Absolutely nothing for the kitchen: spoons forks plates, etc. Half roll of toilet paper and paper towels. Nicks in trim, missing trim, worn, obvious repairs needed. Do not expect maid service.
- Barb (6/5): - Did not match description advertised. Fridge froze all our foods, no stopper for bath tub making shower the only option, and we could not get any cold water from the tap. All things considered, we slept great!
- Candace (8/5): Very good -
- Hinkley (10/5): Definatly would stay again! - Great location, easy to get too right off I-75
- Gordon (8/5): Great for a quick stay. - Old, small, highway hotel. WELL MAINTAINED. Modest, but complete amenities (Fridge, Micro, Good Air, Clean bath.
- Jesse (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (4/5): - Found 2 dead bed bugs floor and one live bed bug on wall. Blood smeared on night stand.
- Stacy (10/5): Different and clean - Different place to stay in between Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. Room was clean and smelled good. Comfortable bed. Small place, owners have great customer service skills. We received a discount when eating at restaurant they own. Great food!
- Betty (10/5): Friendly, Quiet, clean and comfortable - Quiet location with easy access to interstate and local attractions, Staff friendly and easily accessible, Clean. We slept well and were comfortable. Nothing
- Margaret (8/5): Very good -
- Frame (10/5): Exceptional - The room was clean and had all the amenities, including a full-size refrigerator. The bed was comfortable as well. Unfortunately, we had storms and the internet & TV went out, but that was not the inns fault.
- Dawn (8/5): - This is an older property but we had no issues there and the staff do go the extra mile!
- Clark (4/5): My personal experence at Nort Star Inn - It was clean and the A/C was cold but that all I can say I liked. The first nigjt water flooded the bathroom and sleeping area.Posting stated free breakfast, not provided. Had to go down the road to get 15% off at a truck stop cafe for breakfast/dinner. Posting rated 8.6 Excellent and photos looked very nice. However it was very deceiving, If I were to rate it , wood be a 4-5 at best. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. I will never stay there again.
- Donna (9/5): We enjoyed our short stay. Everything was great. - Small and quiet Step too high to get into room
- Penni (6/5): Close to the ark encounter! - It was clean. The remodel was not a high-quality. You can skip the truck stop stop.
- Patricia (10/5): - I was pleasantly surprised about the North Star Inn. Very clean!!! Don’t miss this little inn it is worth staying at. We didn’t want a commercial hotel and were looking for something clean and simple. This was perfect!! Thank you North Star Inn for a very comfortable cozy stay.
- Bb (6/5): Pleasant -
- Villa (8/5): Very good - The location was out of the usual tourist places and was nice and quiet. I liked that the floors were not carpeted so the true cleanliness could be appreciated. The kitchenette was a class above the usual motel. If I'm ever in the same area I would definitely stay there again.
- Clevenger (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice people are so cute 🥰
- SCOTT (8/5): Great Service - Outside of property is a little rough. The inside has a nice kitchen with Fridge and microwave. Rooms are clean. Small TV. Its better than a motel 8. Strange check in. Either call a number or check in at the Moble Restaraunt. Its a truck stop with really good food. There is a couple of mini marts close. We stayed there 2 days. If you want a clean place to stay it's for you. If you want a 5 star hotel then look eleswhere so you won't be dissapointed. Great bargain for the money.
- Jonathan (8/5): - Thank
- Barrenka (8/5): Very good -
- Alissia (8/5): - Room was clean
