Guest Reviews
- Mary (9/5): Pleasant. - The shower was amazing. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The sign is quite small, difficult to see it in the dark.
- April (10/5): Exceptional -
- April (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (9/5): Superb - Loved the staff - very accommodating. Breakfast was excellent, the beds are very comfortable. Very clean, near city center. Near restaurants, laundry services, stores, travel/tour agencies. Would definitely stay here again. Kids also loved this B&B.
- Thomas (8/5): Good value. -
- Aviad (10/5): Exceptional - Hostel that is more like a hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
- Yanis (3/5): Not worth at all. Better options all around. - The location We were not given the room we booked, paid the same price however. At 5am a guy came for check in and started to ring at the outside door which is linked to a phone on the inside courtyard and was making lot of noise for an hour. Had to wake up, get dressed and go open the door myself…..
- Kirsty (9/5): Comfortable and quiet - We had an excellent stay here after 4 days of hiking. The room was very spacious with a large bed, clean bathroom and hot shower. Excellent location in Cusco and quiet. The staff made this place as they couldn’t have been more welcoming or helpful to us.
- Charis (9/5): Superb - Great sized room, big bed and very quiet area so we had a great few night sleep. The staff were all very helpful and gave us a packed breakfast for the days we were leaving early. Good hot shower. We recommended Gringo Bills to other travellers we met heading to cusco. We has a small issue with a miscommunication in arrival time which meant we had to wait outside for an hour at 6am to get into the property. They were very apologetic and resolved the problem as quick as they could, they also gave us free early check in for the inconvenience which was very much appreciated.
- Kamila (10/5): Exceptional - Blow dryer and heater
- Johann (10/5): Exceptional - Gjeis and all the other people were very helpful with everything. More than usual. I had a private breakfast just for myself. The bed was very comfortable. The price was very good for that what you get.
Overall 10/10 experience
- Amber (10/5): Unexpectedly good - Although we booked very late, there was still a room available at Gringo Bill’s Cusco. We even got an upgrade compared to what we had booked on booking.com. The room was spacious, simple, but clean and the shower was great. The bed was also great (a good mattress and not 1.30m wide which is apparently the standard double size in Peru). The staff was very helpful and friendly. We were surprised how involved they were and how extensive the breakfast was that is part of the overnight stay. They even hang a package with a breakfast togo on the door the last evening when we had to get up early because of a trekking. We have been traveling through Peru for a month now and have not met such friendly staff anywhere. Nothing
- Johannes (9/5): Superb -
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - Wilson is a wonderful host! He organizes transport to wherever in and around Cusco (also airport pick-ups!). The place has a lovely courtyard for the delicious breakfast they serve. Much more of a real hotel than just a hostel! Great location and VERY calm within the busy center of town! Nothing ... it was simply PERFECT!
- Rafaella (7/5): Good -

- Janet (8/5): Very good -
- Asli (10/5): Easy, lovely, comfy! - The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I stayed in Gringo Bill's before, 2 years ago as a solo traveller, and now I brought my friend here as well! We needed two separate beds in a single room but made the booking very late, the reception staff went above and beyond to help us separate the beds late at night. The breakfast server lady was lovely as well. The rooms are great and comfy - the hot shower was oh-so-lovely! I will certainly stay there again next time I visit Cusco!
- Marcelo (8/5): Very good -
- Chakravorty (9/5): Superb -
- Neuber (8/5): Nice place to stay! - Comfortable place.
- Neuber (9/5): Superb - Location and amenities. Someone start to walk over our heads at 3 am.
- Vilma (10/5): Exceptional - Close and walking distance to city center but not in the middle of noisy streets. Staff was superb front start to end of my trip. Breakfast included was a nice add-on. Rooms super clean. Couldn’t ask for more at such an economical price.
- Mariya (4/5): Disappointing - Good location The pictures are not real.
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabriel (8/5): Very good -
- Sandipa (8/5): Very good -
- Kosecki (1/5): Property does not offer 24 hr front desk service as advertised. Were left stranded at night. - We were left stranded with nowhere to stay when we arrived. We rang and rang the bell to the door, with no success. We booked this property specifically because it said it offered 24 hour front desk, as our train was arriving after 10pm, which turned out to be 11pm with the delay. We had to turn on our roaming data to message the property, and tried to call the number making an international call from our cell ($), but it hung up almost immediately. We were forced to walk back to the hotel that had accommodated us a few nights before in very cold temperatures in the hopes that they had a room, as all other reasonably priced accommodations either didn't offer 24 hr front desk, or were sold out. Luckily, El Balcon had one remaining room, even though it showed sold out on booking.com and we knew they had someone at their desk to answer the door.
If you don't offer 24 hr service, then remove it from your listing. We almost had to sleep on the street, or go to a 4-5 star hotel and pay their last minute rates (if available).
We will be asking for a refund
- Maria (8/5): Very good - The staff was ver kind and avaible! They let us leave our bags for a day, after check out and they were always ready to help! The location is also very good! It's an older propriety, with some facilities that show you that.
- Sophie (7/5): Great value for money - The staff are very friendly, the location is good, hot shower with good power. It’s cold this time of year and the room didn’t have heating. But we had plenty of blankets on the bed so I was never cold when sleeping.
- Raquel (8/5): Very good -
- Corin (4/5): Average accomodation, cheap, low cost but little comforts. - Good location, friendly staff The room was really cold and there was no heating. We asked for a heater but they said they didnt have one. It was tough as we have a baby and was difficult for her to sleep in the cold. Also the bathroom had a terrible smell from the drain.
- Ludmila (7/5): This is a low-cost but decent place, so don't expect too much and enjoy its great location. - The location is really good! The staff is very kind and attentive, although nobody is there at night. The bed is comfortable, the wi-fi works well, and there is a great hot shower. Some repairs are needed in the bedroom. For example, the curtains do not close enough to give you privacy while in the bathroom. The toilet was missing a seat, and the desk/chair was too tidy for a room that had an extra bed, so that made it impossible to use it for work. The breakfast is good; however, some planning would benefit the ladies' work in the kitchen. One day, for example, we were out of breakfast because there was only one lady to prepare it while the place was packed (owners, please value your great staff's work by hiring more people or raising their salary!). The cleaning service happens every two days, and we found a roach in the bathroom.
- Alexander (6/5): Pleasant - Hot shower with good water pressure.
Good breakfast.
Good location for a cheap price. Our bathroom had what I believe were damp/mouldy spots, and the room had a bit of an unpleasant and odd smell.
The single bed was sagging in the middle so was a bit uncomfortable.
The staff asked us at breakfast if we wanted our room cleaned which we accepted. When we came back that night they hadn't - we weren't really that bothered, but it was strange of them to ask and then not do it...
- Veliz (10/5): Family friend. - Comfortable. Nothing.
- Mv1994 (10/5): Highly recommend - Our stay here was fenomenal. We arrived at 5:30am and could check-in right away. At first, we booked four nights, but decided to extend our stay with four more. Eventually we switched rooms, because the lock of the initial broke. The crew helped us immediately, repairing the lock late at night. The breakfast was wonderful. And the staff was always curious about the trips took, by asking about our day. Besides, every night we got asked about what time we wanted our breakfast. And the next morning the breakfast was ready at that time. I could go on for ages about how great our stay was. But, I recommend everyone to experience it yourselves. P.s. it's super affordable. It's a bit noisy, but not to an extent that one would go crazy.
- Speltz (7/5): Good -
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Die (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (9/5): Superb - Excellent stay!
- Bartosz (8/5): Nice stay in Cusco - Gringo Bill’s is perfectly located within short walk to main square. You have many restaurants, laundry service and hairdressers within 5min walk. Room was spacious with a private bathroom, cleaned every day. Breakfast was very good. Jeiss from reception always offered help & good advice throughout our stay. As it is a B&B property, it has a very nice local style and decor. Wifi connection in the room wasn’t stable (dropping and coming back). There was no hot water 3 times during our stay (6 days) but it has been fixed within 1-2h always when we flagged this with the reception. Also quite a strong smell from the toilet.
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was incredible! We felt super welcome. The rooms are lovely with a huge, very comfortable bed. The showers are amazing as well with good pressure and hot water. And the location is great as well. We loved it :)
- Sandra (9/5): Excellent stay which exceeded my expectations. - Excellent location. Excellent breakfast. Excellent bed and confortable. Very nice and clean room. Excellent value for your money. I would definately return. Erika's hospitality (the owner) is unique. She is a great host. All the rooms go out to the main patio which is a little noisy when guests head out early in the morning to their excursions.
- Sandra (10/5): excellent stay - excellent stay
- Eva (8/5): Very good -
- Zenia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Priit (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect, very friendly staff Nothing
- Sophie (9/5): Safe, clean and comfortable - Staff were helpful and attentive. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Nothing
- Vladimir (9/5): Superb - Location is good; and very quite. Breakfast was very good. One room had a heater, while another room did not have it, and it got quite cold during the night.
- Lee (5/5): Just about passable for the cost - Location was good
Beds were comfortable. No heating in the room.
In desperate need of refurbishment.
Rooms nothing like the pictures, very misleading, but passable for a couple of nights
- Kamila (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff
- Pedro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lori (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lori (10/5): Fantastic, comfy and friendly - Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, daily cleaning and super comfy beds with lovely warm duvets - all right near Plaza las Armas. Rooms may need a little more ventilation - the walls are so thick that it can smell a little musty - but it didn’t bother us
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chaparro (7/5): Good -
- Stella (2/5): Good for low Budget - Good location Old facilities, cracks in the walls and not entirely clean
- Hofizu (3/5): Thanks but no thanks - Location, staff and basic breakfast, enough to get your day going. We travel allot, and we do understand that not all hotels are the same. However we go by what the pictures says and book accordingly. It is a budget hotel, thus we know not to expect luxury, but this was too far out. Pictures must be from when they started. Current situation is not a pretty picture. Moldy, very very very old. Beds sunk in, no hot water (and imagine waking up at 3° celcius!). If you are the type (like me) to want to get what you see in pictures, do not reserve here. You will be unhappy and so will your family.
- Nicola (9/5): Superb - Really comfy big bed, nice breakfast, decent hot shower and 5-10 min walk to main square
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Elsen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guusje (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast, service of staff, huge beds.
- Dave (8/5): Good location, comfortable beds. - Big comfortable beds, hot showers, nice breakfast. Stored our bags for free. The member of staff who works the night shift is very friendly and helpful. The room in the pictures is not necessarily the room you’re given. We stayed here before and after the Inca Trail, the first room we were given wasn’t as nice as the room shown.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norris_daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norris_daniel (10/5): AMAZING VALUE, GREAT BED! - Huge comfortable bed, just a few blocks from the main square of Cusco, would recommend to anyone and will be back when we visit again! Wonderful hot shower! Great stay!
- Yu (9/5): Superb - Everything is comfortable. The employee were so nice and helped us a lot. When we went to Machupicchu, we could leave our baggage there for one night.
- Pablo (7/5): Good - large beds and very nice and helpful staff had to ask for basic cleaning when I checked in. internet is not very reliable in the rooms.
- Oscar (8/5): Cheap place, good location, great hot water, comfortable bed but lack of maintenance to the room. - The hot water was awesome always. The staff was very very nice (not the new guy). The new guy (Eric?) was not genuine polite, when you ask something to him he always avoids eye contact what is completely disrespectful. Once he even opened our room’s door without knocking first! Not apologies at all!
Also the room’s floor is very noisy, it is a wooden floor with not good maintenance, some pieces where coming off. And one day from the shower (bathroom) the water started licking from the wall to our dormitory, we let the staff know about this and they apologized after dried it with a rag.
- Fenestron (8/5): Gringo Bill's. - Really close to everything, laundry, restaurants, town centre. Can't fault the family running. Nothing was too much trouble for them. WiFi in room not so good or tv not getting signal.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Jc (9/5): best value in cusco - staff is very accommodating and helpful. the rooms are big and well worth the money. they answered all my questions and the place is easy to find and only 3 blocks from plaza de armas where all the restaurants and shops are. the floors creak because they're wood
- Jc (10/5): Best value in Cusco - Location great just 3 blocks from.plaza de armas. Easy to find and staff super helpful made the start of the trip great. Very accommodating and went above and beyond service standards. Entrance is far from the room.but that also helps keep noise level down from street.
- Toon (10/5): Very nice family run authentic place - When entering the room, we felt right at home. The bed is the best we slept in for our entire trip and huge. Breakfast (simple but complete) was possible served in the room. The family is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Not a big problem at all, but the owners live elsewhere, so not always available. Best to get connected on WhatsApp and plan a little bit in advance.
- Ilai (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (7/5): Nice beds and hot showers - Bed was super comfortable and the rooms are set in a nice courtyard. Jais was really friendly! location is really good and shower pressure good service was a little off (no permanent reception) so breakfast timings were dependent on if someone was there or not.
- Kaixun (8/5): Very good -
- Yiren (9/5): Superb - Right in the city center. Helpful staff.
- Carla (9/5): Superb - It was clean the staff was really friendly and helpful, the rooms are simple but comfortable, breakfast is very complete One of the rooms had a smell in the bathroom, there was a gas problem and the hot water was off but in both cases the staff help fixing it ( the water problem was quickly solved)
- Alxmrt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marvin (1/5): Bad -
- Madhushan (9/5): Superb -
- Charles (7/5): Good - good location. Wi-Fi not strong in the room in last room but was moved to different room and was fine then!.
- Yosef (9/5): Superb -
- Libby (8/5): spacious room in good location with lovely staff - The staff were lovely, there was an honest mistake with payment and they were very accommodating trying to correct it so thank you! the room was super big and spacious and the shower was nice and hot.
- Hayden (10/5): Gringos was an excellent place to stay while exploring Cusco. - All of the staff were very friendly. They did an excellent job of cleaning. The free breakfast was good, and they were very punctual. The hotel is in a great location: not right at the Plaza Des Armas with excess activity but not very far so that you can get to many sights in a short walk. Everything was good…no complaints.
- Bexwas (7/5): Good - Gringo bills is well located not far from plaça Armas and close to good restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They kindly stored our luggage while we went on the Salkantay and inka trails. The breakfast is basic but good, typical breakfast some days we got fresh fruit juice other days it was from a bottle. The rooms are good, the bed is huge, so comfortable and with loads of blankets. There is a heater in the room. The bathroom is ok, hot shower was good. The room smelt a bit mouldy and the skylight leaked a bit. Also the bathroom mat is not one that can be washed after each guest which is a bit weird.
- Christine (8/5): Love this place. Stayed twice. - rustic hotel, fabulous atmosphere and quiet (except for the creaking floor boards!). When we went to Gringo Bill's in Aguas Calientes, our large bags were kept safe here in Cusco. We so appreciated this.
- Magdalena (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (8/5): Very good - Lovely little hotel in a period building. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with a lovely shower and an abundance of hot water. And we just loved the creaking floors. Breakfast was excellent.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Amazing price for such a decent sized room (triple private room). We had the best shower (properly hot) since being in Peru!
- Colton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louis (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, rustic room with access to a courtyard. Some rooms have a balcony as well. This property offers multiple breakfast options--surprising given its size. They have a small staff but with only a few individuals they are more efficient than some large hotels I've been to.
- Laureano (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raquel (8/5): good location, friendly staff, nice beds and showers. - great location, friendly staff, good beds weird smell coming from the toilet
- Lizzie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Levi (10/5): Great stay, was able to check in earlier at 6:30 am coming from the night bus. Rooms were nice with comfy beds and break - clean, Central location, comfy beds room was a bit cold, however its Cusco
- MONICA ROXANA (10/5): Muy buen servicio - Muy bien el hotel! Y me auxiliaron con mi pago.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The pictures look really good on the website and this property looks NOTHING like them!!! The room on the garden level was very stuffy and nasty smelling and when I asked for a fan, they could not provide me one, so I had to get air freshener! There is only one little window in the bathroom area and does not let in much light. The garden is unkept and the area can be noisy. The breakfast is delivered to the room which was nice, but it's not a pleasant atmosphere to eat there on the desk with only one chair available to sit on!
