Guest Reviews
- Maria (8/5): Lovely stay. - The location, the kitchen/lounge area, very good shower, small conforts, the vibe The code lock on the door was problematic, it could be an issue of strength. With us It only worked intermittently. The kitchen should have paper towels/napkins and enough sugar for a 2-night stay.
- Aylwin (10/5): Beautiful home in the blue mountain! - It’s a beautiful home with quaint and homely decoration. Warm home and a beautiful backyard. We saw a kookaburra, parrots and cockatoos in the lovely yard. Nothing. Would have loved to spend a few more days in the property.
- Margaret (10/5): -
- Karlie (9/5): Very pretty cottage, perfect layout, great weekend getaway - Beautifully fitted out, very comfortable beds, great layout. Walking distance to town. Nothing
- Samantha (10/5): - We loved our stay. The house is so beautiful and comfy. We’d planned to go out for dinner but decided to get delivery and stay at the house. Would love to stay again one day.
- Dat (9/5): A rare gem is nestled in the heart of the Blue Mountains, waiting to be discovered. - Our experience at John and Ragna's beautiful cottage was truly unforgettable. The lovely furnishings and meticulous attention to detail created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making us feel right at home. N/A

- Arata (10/5): - 全てにおいて素晴らしいおもてなしでした
- Blackman (6/5): - Location was great, views very relaxing, beds very comfortable. A bit of a mix up on arrival but resolved with host to satisfaction.
- Meagan (10/5): -
- Moller (8/5): -
- Francois (10/5): Beautiful cottage, tastefully maintained and furnished - Charming, lots of character
- Alana (8/5): Lovely cosy place. - Beautiful backyard. Not many people watch normal (free to air) TV, but I do. Unfortunately, the TV only had streaming options.
- Sebastian (7/5): Beautiful cottage and location, with a few flaws - The location was great, centrally located for everything we wanted to do in such a lovely area. The cottage was also beautifully designed, especially the open plan kitchen and living area. We also loved bird watching in the garden. The owners were very quick to respond too. Unfortunately there was a rancid smell during our stay due to an animal dying. This resulted in a large number of flies in the cottage. The owners were very quick to respond to our concerns and apologised, explaining that poison had been put down. Although this wasn't the owners fault directly, it did mean we were unable to enjoy the cottage fully.
In terms of the bedrooms, we found a dirty towel on the back of our door, which was a bit unpleasant. It was also extremely hot on one of the nights and we were unable to open the window as there was no fly screen, meaning we had bugs flying in. There's an AC outside that we managed to use to cool us down, but it meant leaving our door wide open.

- Jane (8/5): We had a wonderful stay, very comfortable with everything we could need for a relaxing break - Cosy cottage with a fantastic indoor and outdoor living area Road was a little noisy but part of such a good location
- Andrew (8/5): -

- Mary (9/5): Great house and location. - The house itself and grounds are fabulous. Very comfortable and great location. There was nothing negative.

- Troy (9/5): Cool 😎 - Quirky
Old and New in a perfect mix 🤷🏻♂️

You can spend mornings sitting by the back porch sipping coffee or snuggled up inside on the couch.

- Beth (9/5): So cosy! So well stocked with pots and pans for cooking and was so comfy to stay in. Will definitely be back. - It was gorgeous and so cosy. Well equipped specially with things in the kitchen. The bed was a little uncomfortable
- Lorne (7/5): Cosy Cottage Charm - Loved the old-world charm about the cottage. Pot belly stove was a great source of warmth. The kitchen was well stocked and top quality SMEG appliances. Lots of little historical pieces which added to the charm of the cottage. Beds were cosy and warm too. It truly felt like a home away from home. As we were there in the colder months, some window coverings on the back doors would keep the area a bit more cosy.
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb - Beds were comfy, layout of property was good. Good location to be able to walk to Blackheath. Nice to have a log fire also.
- Kevin (10/5): Wonderful place, highly recommend - A straight 10! It’s a lovely cottage where every room radiates warmth and cosiness. It has everything ( and more) that you need. It’s clean, spacious, quiet and just a wonderful place to spend days away from the hustle ans bustle of the city. I highly recommend! N/a
- Schumacher (10/5): Old style charm and comfort - It was very clean, comfortable, and homely - it was a beautiful place to stay at and very central location.
The communication with the Owners John and Ragna was great - you have a beautiful and relaxing cottage - can only highly recommend a stay there to anyone We liked everything about the place and our stay - the only suggestion is curtains that can be pulled across the glass doors areas to help retain the heat during colder months.
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - Second time at Illalangi and we already booked next year
- Takayuki (10/5): I would came here again! - Reverting
- Jacinta (7/5): This property was exactly how it was advertised, super nice house on a gorgeous street in a really good neighbourhood - Everything Was a bit cold
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chatchanok (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachelle (10/5): Exceptional - Quirky cottage with a mixture of old & modern. Clean & comfortable. Location is great. Within walking distance to Blackheath. Outdoor area is fantastic. We loved everything

- Annella (10/5): Such a gorgeous cottage! -
- James (8/5): Very cozy cottage, lovely deck and gardem - Really cozy property
- Angelique (10/5): Great cosy cottage with a great outdoor area. - Great cosy country cottage with a great outdoor area and within walking distance to Blackheath.
- Alison (9/5): It was very pleasant and peaceful. - Very quaint and tastefully decorated Creaky floors☺️
- Michael (10/5): Very clean and well equipped. - Very good location and very authentic old cottage.
- Fee (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer! - What a wonderful house, we loved our stay. Only sorry it was for such a short time as we attended a wedding at Mount Wilson.
- Gill (9/5): A great family base to explore the Blue Mountains - Loved the modern spacious open plan kitchen and living room overlooking the lovely garden
- Tahlia (10/5): A cosy, relaxing stay. - Beautiful, cosy cottage with lots of character and charm. Very comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. Lovely backyard to watch the birds and relax with a glass of wine.
- Tango2 (7/5): Disappointing - The property presents as generally unloved and uncared for with no evidence of recent upkeep or maintenance. The outside deck area is particularly bad. The laundry is disgusting.
The oven isn’t clean, the lounge is terrible and the requirement to provide your own firewood is ridiculous.
The bathroom was however excellent.
Describing the property as luxurious is not correct.
- Stuart (10/5): Wonderful stay in this cottage which blends modern & traditional - Lovely cottage in a shabby chic style - nice blend of modern & traditional. Perfect size for our family of 6. Queen sized beds comfy - bunk beds a little less so but still OK. Well equipped modern country style kitchen. Modern bathroom with large bath/overhead shower and underfloor heating. Large outside deck and back garden, perfect for enjoying breakfast or an evening glass of wine at sunset. Bottle of wine, tea, coffee and milk a lovely touch. We really enjoyed our stay and this will be our go to place in the Blue Mountains. At rush hour road can be busy and the noise can be intrusive, particularly in the morning if you are sleeping in the front bedroom -> although it didn’t detract from our stay it is something to consider if you’re a light sleeper.
- Janelle (8/5): Great weekend - Quiet location, close to main shopping area, living area bright and spacious N/a
- Monique (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Erin (10/5): Quick overnight stay - The back garden is huge such a lovely entertaining area. Perfect for the kids & animals.
Also the beds were so comfy! And love the heated bathroom floors what a nice surprise
- Katie (10/5): 10/10 perfect place to stay! - Illalangi Boutique Cottage was the perfect place to stay for our recent Book Club Retreat. The hosts were kind and easily contactable when needed. The property was exactly as advertised - no, even better than advertised! I have nothing bad to say about our stay here. It is the perfect place to escape the world and I will definitely look to come back the next time I am in the area. Highly recommend. You would not regret staying here.
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional - Small touches like milk in the fridge and a pre-prepared fireplace made the arrival delightful. The owners were very responsive when a small problem arose.
- Mullaikkodi (8/5): Very good -
- Uday (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michaël (10/5): Cosy cottage in the blue mountains - Our stay was very nice. The cottage is cosy and homy. But the temperature in the bathroom was really cold. The diversity of the birds in the garden was incredible. Its a nice place for hiking in the blue mountains
- Rosalynn (10/5): Exceptional - So comfortable and very cosy we have stayed here before and will come again. Very spacious lovely and warm with the Aircon and fire. Comfy beds too. Highly recommend for a trip away in the mountains only 15 minutes drive to katoomba. Also the host is so welcoming with lots of information provided beforehand. My only complaint would be the dishwasher doesn't clean very well. Leaves all the dishes dirty. Not sure if it's just old or needs cleaning itself
- Nirmal (10/5): Exceptional - Cleanliness and very tidy, very historic too. Would recommend to friends
- Clare (10/5): We loved this house so much, we've talked about making our winter trip to this place a regular thing - Such a quaint little cottage with all the modern conveniences without losing that old-world charm. A beautiful place for a winter weekend in the mountains Nothing. There's absolutely nothing I would change
- Chelsea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): The cottage is an absolute dream. - The cottage is cute, cosy and so comfortable
- Jenny (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (10/5): Very cosy and comfortable place to stay! - Very cosy and comfortable place to stay! The kitchen and bathroom are both modern and lovely (underfloor heating is the best in the bathroom). General heating is great as it was cold and raining on our stay! The backyard was fantastic for our little dog. Hosts were super helpful as well. Nothing, would stay again!
- Manuel (10/5): Exceptional - A lovely place, cozy with a charming atmosphere yet modern kitchen and bathroom. Great hosts!
- Shannon (7/5): Good -
- Geraldine (8/5): Nice stay, great yard area with a little clean up due to fallen leaves. Nature at its course. - House is beautifully decorated though my teenagers were a bit scared to see the paintings on the walls. The kitchen is nice with basic amenities like cooking oil, salt and pepper, spices provided. Good electric grill available for use, though it can be better with some clean up. Nice yard with fireplace, but need to buy wood and starters to DIY. Property provided initial starter set but can’t do much in setting up a fire. We were so cold when entering the property late at night. Good that the property left the lights on, would be better if they had also turned on the heating. The floor was super cold, thankfully we brought slippers. Property is generally well furnished except for a pair of mittens for the oven. We used the tea towel to remove the oven wares, it was ok but could be dangerous if there’s a slip of hands due to the heated ware.
- Michelle (4/5): This property is nice but by no means luxurious. - The location was good and we were able to cook full meals in the kitchen. Air conditioning in both ends of the house kept us warm. The beds and bedding were comfortable and warm. The newly renovated bathroom was beautiful. We were disappointed with the property as it was sold as more luxurious than it was. There is only one bathroom (no additional bathroom as advertised) and the second toilet is outside. It was disappointing to discover (after we had booked) that although there is an outdoor firepit and fireplace in the kitchen (not living) area, that only 2 pieces of wood and kindling were supplied for both areas as a starter and then wood could be purchased for $15 per night. (it's not about the cost, it's just poor form to rent a home with a fireplace and firepit without supplying enough wood for the stay). We were surprised that the fully equipped gourmet kitchen didn't include a coffee machine.
- Asuka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sean (10/5): Lovely characterfull cottage in the perfect location to visit the Blue Mountains. - Great character cottage in a perfect location to visit the Blue Mountains. Clean, well furnished and considered for all your needs. Nothing to not like
- Eliane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely fantastic cottage which was even more charming than I'd imagined. The attention to detail was wonderful and there was always something new to spot around the cottage, be it an interesting old picture or a vintage camera. Charm overload and great amenities - everything you need if you plan to cook there... or simply make some breakfast with a quality kettle and toaster!
Wouldn't hesitate to return.
- Shannon (9/5): Excellent place to stay - Clean, comfortable and close to shops and attractions. Quaint old world wooden cottage with modern amenities.Modern fully functional kitchen. The provision of single use shower gel, shampoo and body lotion bottles. It would be better to provide refillable pump containers (those that can fixed to the wall) of the liquids to reduce plastic waste.
- Wendy (8/5): Great facilities - Location was excellent Travelling with an elderly adult so the shower in the bath was not accessible
- Roya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful cottage to spend Easter break with friends and family.
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (10/5): An interior designer’s dream! - So glad we discovered this cottage. It’s absolutely beautiful inside and out. An interior designer’s dream! We ended up staying just us a couple but look forward to bringing the family with us next time. Everything was perfect!
- Kirstie (10/5): Exceptional - The property is so dainty and well maintained. No hassle finding the place. Near the train station and grocery store.
- Conor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ros (7/5): Comfortable accommodation in a good location. - The grass in the backyard was left too long making it uncomfortable to walk around with our 2 year old granddaughter and our dogs - especially with the damp conditions. Only motel style basics provided.
- Edel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (9/5): Comfy - Beautiful cottage, close to town, easy access to walks. No kindling to start the inside fire and what firewood was available was in large pieces. And not much of it.
The instructions for cleaning when you pay a $150.00 cleaning fee.
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (10/5): A magnificent place to stay - Superb interior and overall setting Nothing
- Joanne (8/5): Beautiful, cosy, comfortable and functional family sized home to accommodate 6 people perfectly. - Mainly that the home has a variety of sitting areas both inside and out. Comfortable beds and couches and a well-equipped kitchen and functional laundry. Welcoming our dog Tilly was an absolute bonus. We also loved reading about the history of the home and having local information provided. Fire pit was great. There was nothing to dislike so this is not a dislike, only a suggestion ......oven mitts would have been great as I cooked a lot for the family - a non-slip bathroom mat might feel a bit safer. Mosquitoes at times - so bring mozzie repellent along.
- Rebekah (9/5): Superb -
