Guest Reviews
- Shanta (8/5): Nice Location great views - De massage was really good!! Breakfast outside was really nice and with fresh on the spot prepared paratha;s
Cosy and lots of green. Location is wonderfull! No Lift available which made it very difficult to reach 3rd floor. we got rooms on the second floor but had to pay extra for it whilst the room was much smaller.
- Kamath (8/5): Nice comfortable stay - Nice heritage house with lots of memories, photos, stories. Small place but looks authentic. The staff were very hospitable and accomodating. Limited breakfast options which is fine for a small place. However, the room rates are expensive as we could get a similar 5 star place for similar prices. Also, each dish ordered for dinner was pricey!!
- Shawn (10/5): Amazing property, amazing staff, amazing services. - The staff of Ranjit’s Svaasa Amritsar were amazing, and they are all very multi-talented and can understand your needs before you know them yourself! One thing I want to point out is that the staff can help to arrange any tours you may want from trusted drivers or tour guides - and may be better priced then what you find on Trip Advisor or Aviator. You just need to message them on WhatsApp and they can help you with that process. Shout out to Prab and Sukhvinder and all the other great staff. Nothing.
- Jasprit (10/5): Can’t wait to go back! - Charm, history, awesome staff Could not fault it
- Eckehard (9/5): Jederzeit gerne wieder!
Super essen. Fantastische Massagen. Super sicher. - Außergewöhnlich und familiär. Super essen. Fantastische Massagen. Super sicher.
- Sumeer (8/5): Overall experience was good - Ambience Professionalism
- Ross (9/5): An excellent choice - Beautiful gardens and interesting buildings Nothing
- Enid (10/5): -
- Alok (10/5): Heavenly abode in city of Amritsar loved every bit of stay - Fantastic piece of heaven tucked in beautiful green patch of Amritsar the property is done very aesthetically each room each corner is designed beautifully
The team is just brilliant and fantastic food fresh off the farm
Location is convenient Nothing it’s just fantastic
- Andrew (10/5): - Lovely boutique hotel. The staff all went above and beyond to be helpful. I really enjoyed my short stay.
- Amanpreet (10/5): -
- alan (10/5): If Carlsberg did hotels - Exotic Marigold Hotel in one. Room was great, staff were so friendly, shower amazing , breakfast lovely, hotel and courtyards a treat. This hotel is a quiet calmness 10 mins from the GT and centre of Amritsar. So peaceful to return after seeing the sites. UBER works really well 150 rupes on average to the GT. The evening menu changes everyday , the food was delicious. Not advisable to try and walk anywhere as nothing really about . Taxis so cheap you can get anywhere you like easily. No bar or alcohol at hotel . This place really is a gem with lots of history and antiques everywhere you will not be disappointed . My only suggestion would be more comfortable seats outside our room Shukla, also we were given no details on other services the hotel offered like laundry, ect .
- Jane (10/5): The most beautifully curated Haveli - the perfect choice for a special stay - The most beautifully curated Haveli each space inside and out - stunning.
Amazing staff so friendly and committed to making our stay perfect.
It was my daughter’s birthday and a dish of delicious Indian sweets and a card with a lovely message was left in her room.
Ram needs a special mention for making sure every meal was delicious and preparing a tasty travel breakfast for our early start as well as being the perfect host.
Aryan managed everything so well from the moment we arrived.
Overall the best choice for a special stay.
- Susannah (10/5): Highly recommended for a stay outside of the ordinary - Great place - full of character. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and charming
- Lorna (9/5): Excellent stay, would recommend - Extremely helpful staff and dinner was excellent. Bedroom and bathroom was very clean. You need to get an auto into the centre, but easy to do so
- Neil (10/5): An outstanding hotel with exceptional rooms and decor and lovely food - We stayed in a lot of places on our 8 week trip round India and this was one of the best. A beautiful room, in keeping with the high standard of the rest of the hotel. Staff were very welcoming and we ate at the hotel each night as the food was first rate. I really think this hotel is flawless
- Mariangela (10/5): -
- Bernd (7/5): Quiet place in Amritsar - Nice old property with a lot of atmosphere. Beautiful garden. Quiet area, a little bit outside of the city. Easy to reach by Uber. Nice staff.
Good breakfast. Dinner was not very tasty and overpriced. Extra services as massage and laundry are extremely expensive.
The price for the room was too high compared with other heritage places in India where we stayed.
- Margi (8/5): - Had a wonderful stay here. Loved the feel of the place, built 200 years ago by the British but now lived in for generations of Indian families. Dinner was delicious and we enjoyed our food tour around Amritsar.
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Neil (10/5): - Beautiful room in lovely historic building
- Anne (9/5): Highly recommend - A peaceful haven with lots of relaxing areas both in and out. Good breakfast and great staff. The evening meals are tasty too.
- Joanne (10/5): A haven of peace - This hotel was absolutely exquisite. Our experience in India was that the photos on booking.com didn't always reflect the reality, but, in the case of this hotel, it was every bit as beautiful as in the photos. And the photos can't show the smell of incense or the gentle music playing. It's a 200 year old family home belonging to an aristocratic family, full of antiques and beautiful objects. Amritsar is a crazy city, full of people and noise, but this hotel was a haven of peace. Everything was perfect.
- Peter (8/5): -
- Stella (7/5): -
- Jane (10/5): An excellent place to stay with beautiful ambience. - Beautiful location and very helpful staff. Lovely food. Two very friendly dogs. Redolent of its 200 years’ history.
- Linzy (10/5): Serene and sublime - Beautiful old haveli with a serene atmosphere away from the chaos of the city. Quiet, comfortable and with hot water in the bathrooms at all times. I really appreciated that. There’s nothing not to like, except that I would have loved a G&T in the evening, but it’s a holy city, so make like you are holy. 😀
- Julie (10/5): A unique experience in a charming Heritage family run Havelli! - We liked everything about the property - its charm, comfort, heritage, calm ambience. The staff were amazing and made the stay a fantastic experience. There was nothing that we didn’t like.
- Francesco (8/5): -
- Charlotte (10/5): Perfection ! - Everything was perfect ! From the beautiful decoration to the comfort of the room and the premises to the exquisite food. Service was 5 stars !! I would definitely recommend Nothing ! Everything was perfect
- Jubanpreet Singh (9/5): -
- Charlotte (10/5): Perfection ! - Everything was perfect ! From the beautiful decoration to the comfort of the room and the premises to the exquisite food. Service was 5 stars !! I would definitely recommend Nothing. Everything was perfect
- Natalia (9/5): -
- Rosaline (10/5): Superb - So serene and comfortable
- Victoria (5/5): Nice property but wouldn’t return due to staff and customer service - Lovely heritage building Unfriendly staff and all customer service carried out via what’s app - completely impersonal
- Radka (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Sasi (8/5): Great place to relax - Good Climbing up the stairs
- Sunit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (10/5): An Oasis of Peace in Amritsar - This is an Oasis of Peace in a busy city. The garden, plants, cozy and diverse decor all make for such a good welcoming and peaceful stay. My room was large and comfortable. The food was excellent and the staff goes out of their way to take care of guests.
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect place, beautiful rooms, lots of nice details.
- Lise (10/5): Relaxing haven from the bustle of Amritsar - Beautiful character property , staff so helpful, fantastic food, lovely room and great gardens to relax in nothing
- Imogen (8/5): A happy time in a charming old school hotel. - It is a charming hotel with very helpful staff and a good welcoming Indian atmosphere. The hot water and having a good bath were superb. I thought it a bit expensive.
- Jein (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathrine (8/5): We loved everything. - Very clean and comfortable beds. Beautiful surroundings. Nice interior. Colonial style in its perfection. Very nice staff. We recommend. 😊
- Susan (10/5): - Beautiful, historic property with large rooms, restful outdoor sitting areas, helpful staff & excellent food breakfast, lunch & dinner!
- Sara (9/5): An enjoyable stay in a property full of charm and character - A wonderful authentic property oozing with character from a bygone era.
The staff are excellent and make the property very special.
- Iain (10/5): Lovely oasis of peace - Delightful Anglo-Indian decorated property. Lovely room, with sitting room. Beautiful plants everywhere. Very helpful staff. And very quiet
- Ks (9/5): Wonderful heritage homestay! - Unique heritage home stay in a central location. Loved the Lohri festivities! Great staff and delicious home cooked dinners! Everything was wonderful! Maybe more fruit at breakfast.
- Michelle (8/5): Tranquil and welcoming - Such a wonderful gem. This place is tranquility itself, with wonderful people and delicious food that follows a farm to fork philosophy. We did not use the spa facilities that are also available, though can see how well that would fit into the overall ambience.
The building is filled with history and beautifully decorated. The rooms are very spacious and incredibly comfortable. As you wander from your room to the breakfast area, or library, or sitting room you pass tranquil gardens and many a nook and cranny to tuck yourself away into.
The team here are happy to help organise anything you might wish to do.
I can not recommend it enough.
- Louise (9/5): A delightful haven in Amritsar - A delightful haven in busy Amritsar! Our room was clean, comfortable and cosy.
The garden was a quiet sanctuary in the middle of a bustling city.
The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food delicious.
If you like a tranquil place to stay, this is the pace for you! It’s a little out of the city of Amritsar and there’s not much around close by in the way of eateries etc. This was fine for us, but if you want to be close to the action, this may not be the place for you.
- Doug (10/5): A wonderful haven to rest & enjoy - The staff especially Neelu, was outstanding.
The smile, the cordial welcome and the service was terrific. Ram also was very helpful and. Went out of his way to arrange a taxi .
Keep up the good work - Ranjit’s name will be well celebrated. N/a
- Madeline (9/5): Gorgeous property set in quiet surroundings - Lovely setting and the room was large and very comfortable. The staff were lovely but did overcharge for tea which was a shame. The water was not very hot which although doesn’t stop me from recommending is a shame.
- Pranav (10/5): Must visit in Amritsar - Beautiful boutique hotel, very centrally located. Great coffee and food and a serene place in an otherwise chaotic city I didn’t have any problem but there is no lift.
- Rattanamol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Avnita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francois (10/5): Great hotel and restaurant. - Beautiful hotel with a homely atmosphere in a small and quiet lane. The hotel is nicely decorated; the staff is extremely nice and welcoming.
Great breakfast, very good restaurant. Nothing.
- Nimish (2/5): - This old bungalow-turned-hotel had charm, but our stay was marred by issues. No lift was a significant inconvenience when a medical emergency cropped up. Two dogs on campus may delight some, but not all. Personalized service was lacking; we felt no connection with the owner or staff. Old family photos in corridors felt creepy.
Rigid policies were another letdown. They can ask you to pay extra for early check-in, in cash. Despite a medical emergency prompting a two-day early checkout, with 16 hours' notice, we were charged for an extra day. This inflexibility and lack of empathy overshadowed the hotel's potential. It might work for some, but, overall, for us, it fell short of expectations.
- Kar28 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (10/5): Peace and tranquillity with amazing staff. - Amazing location and peace from the hustle and bustle of Amritsar.
The staff are so helpful and can’t do enough for you. They helped us with a few trips and items we needed to buy.
Great food and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Nothing
- Alan (8/5): Lovely gardens. - Excellent breakfast, location not far from the Golden Temple, a Tuk Tuk ride away. Looks isolated at night, but in a safe area. We had to leave early for a train, before breakfast started. It would have been really nice if they had offered a cup of coffee and some toast.
- Clunie (10/5): Exceptional - We loved this beautiful hotel. It has a real sense of warmth and character. You really feel the fact that it was a family home. Tte furnishings and details are delightful. The garden is an oasis of rest from the busy city. The staff are friendly, efficient and welcoming.
- Harriet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (10/5): Enchanting Haveli with warm hospitality - Hospitality was exceptional got a tour of the property from the owner. Lovely vibe warm and welcoming hosts Masala chai tea not good but filter coffee excellent
- Paweł (8/5): Beautifull old style hotel but a greedy owner - Fantastic garden and antique interior design of a colonial residence. Charming patios. Very spacious and comfortable room.
Good food.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The owner tries to be nice, but is too greedy, what spoils an impression.
For any extra service like taxi, spa, charges "a fortune". For example, a taxi to Amritsar airport costs 400 RS. He tries to get 2500 RS and pretends, that he doesn't understand a difference and offers 10% discoult. We took Uber :).
The staff are nice kind and helpful people, far more, than the owner.
- Kate (10/5): Unique, beautiful, friendly and great value - This property is amazing - a real sanctuary. The house is huge and beautiful with incredible furniture and is full of history. The staff go out if their way to provide you with whatever you require and the restaurant serves fabulous food in the lush garden.
- Anjna (9/5): This is a wonderful welcoming oasis in the heart of Amritsar - Ambiance, dogs and family atmosphere. Staff were excellent and very courteous and friendly . Food was great. Difficult to find. The local taxi drivers not able to locate
- Declan (9/5): Superb - Lovely historical comfortable hotel. Friendly staff. Very pleasant stay.
- Poornima (10/5): Exceptional - A serene aesthetic space with such generous hospitality - highly recommend!
- Lisa (10/5): Beautiful, opulent and comfortable stay. - Beautiful traditional haveli style propery set in lush surroundings. Staff were excellent and very attentive. Food was delicious too and room extremely comfortable. Probably cheaper to get a taxi or Tuk Tuk for airport/station pickup or drop off than hotel. However nothing was too much trouble in arranging hotel pickups.
- Samantha (10/5): - Lovely setting & unique building characteristics of 1930s, lovely chef and food and classic place
- John (10/5): Such a wonderful home with delightful staff - Colonial glory beautifully maintained. Nothing
- John (10/5): Comfort, calm and homely hospitality in charming surrounds. - This is a wonderful homestay style hotel that exudes charm and hospitality whilst surrounded by an eclectic collection of furniture and decorations.
The onsite spa is also exceptional and a relaxing pleasure.
- David (10/5): Absolutely excellent + superb taxi service - Excellent! Although travelling alone, I felt 100% safe here. My room was clean, large and ‘palatial’ for a guest house. Hans the driver picked me up from the airport in the middle of the night, took me to Wagah Border and was a taxi when I went into the centre - 100% reliable and he looked after me. Thank you! Would have been nice to have a map with information on where you can get things locally in room eg toiletries, snacks. Getting a haircut, a good cafe fir a coffee, etc
- Amanda (10/5): Ranjit’s oasis of beauty and heritage - We adored our two nights at Ranjit’s Svaasa. It is a beautiful old home tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Amritsar. Our room was extremely spacious, clean and atmospheric. The bed was so comfy and the toiletries for our hair/body were luxurious. The breakfast was delicious and they packed us a yummy breakfast to go when we left early for the train.
The staff here are wonderful and kind. The lovely two fellows on the gate made us feel like we were returning home with their friendliness. The ladies in the office were darlings and helped us with anything we needed.
The hotel organised a driver, Hans, out to the Wagah Border ceremony ( not to be missed)! He was a fabulous driver and we enjoyed chatting to him.
Do not miss Amritsar. I have travelled all around India and found this to be one of the friendliest cities. The Golden Temple is equal to visiting the Taj Mahal…an oasis of calm and beauty.
Lastly don’t forget to buy some Amritsar juttis (slippers)! At $6 Australian they were a bargain and a fun reminder of an amazing destination.
Thank you Ranjit’s we’ll be back.
- Samidha (10/5): A real, historical gem! - This is a very special, very beautiful place!. The heritage of the hotel has been very sensitively and wonderfully preserved and the style, ambiance and cleanliness are all exceptional. In addition, the staff were really lovely and did everything in their power to look after us. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
- Inderjeet (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely visit at a lovely hotel, staff are exceptional asis the home cooked food. - Truely excellent service from all of the staff.
A really lovely personalised approach.
Great room, great facilities. Nothing. All was great.
- Julia (10/5): Relaxing, easy place, peaceful - Good food. Gardens Not cheap
- Margaret (10/5): A real gem of a hotel - I loved the beauty and peace of the hotel and gardens. Each room was filled with interesting items displayed on furniture and fittings of the period..
The staff were attentive and gracious.
Meals were beautifully presented and delicious. Nothing at all
- Atul (10/5): - This is a gem of a place in a busy city. Unlike 5 star closed properties, this has space, trees, history, personal service, home cooked food (much of it grown on the property), lots of sitting spots (outside and inside) to give guests space to unwind and enjoy nature and Indian culture. They also organize tours to holy sites and to experience local culture.
- Cathryn (10/5): A wonderful oasis of calm, character and style where you feel very well looked after. - Ranjit's Svaasa is a delightful oasis of calm tucked away from a busy road in the more modern area of Amritsar. The main building takes you back in time to an era of privilege, but the bedroom was spacious and stylishly decorated with all 'mod cons'. The character of the hotel was complimented by charming gardens which wove around the Marigold Hotel-esque courtyards and made you feel cut off from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The staff were excellent, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. On arrival, you immediately felt welcomed as if into a family home.
The separate dining room served the best breakfasts and evening meals to order were very good. A lot of the fresh ingredients are grown in the hotel allotment. The chef took time out of his busy day to give us a cookery lesson, instructing us (through the translation of the lovely hotel manageress) how to cook a selection of local traditional dishes which we then ate for dinner.
The manageress also booked us a wonderful guide (Sonny) and driver to show us the sights of Amritsar and the Wagah Border Ceremony (not to be missed for entertainment value!)
The hotel is a 10 minute tuk tuk ride from the old town and the spectacular Golden Temple, worth seeing both by day and night. Make sure not to miss the amazing 24/7 Community Kitchen too. Nothing! Would love to re-visit,
- Amanda (10/5): A quiet, elegant oasis - Everything about Ranjit's Svaasa was lovely. Beautifully furnished, ambient music, cute dog, amazing food and wonderful staff. Lots of tranquil and private indoor and outdoor spaces. Located far from the city noise, it is an elegant oasis of calmness, just a short drive to the Golden Temple. The staff organised our transport which was of a high standard. Highly recommend, and look forward to one day returning.
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - An outstanding oasis of calm in central location of the bustling city. Felt immediately at home and at ease.
- Rohit (10/5): Exceptional - Staff are good and very helpful 👍 👌
- Alan (8/5): Would for sure stay there again. - Period charm and interesting rooms Punjab cooking course was good but short and expensive. Also we didn’t really get the chance to do the cooking!
- Parth (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (9/5): Comfortable and lovely to be in a historic home - Gardens heritage Slippery floors
- HEMANT (4/5): - Not the most helpful staff, I fell sick, and the staff didn't help my wife with getting the meds.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Enjoyable stay. Staff very helpful and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff ordered taxis as requested. Food w - The staff were excellent - nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. It was all good.
- Helen (9/5): Lovely Haveli in Amritsar - would definitely recommend - Lovely ambience - very calm. It’s an unusual but very pleasant place to stay. Not too far from the centre of Amritsar so visiting Temple, Museums etc was easy. Staff were excellent. Beds were a little uncomfortable- maybe a mattress topper would help.
