Guest Reviews
- Diane (5/5): OK but not great. - Its was in a good location as we were visiting family. The room was clean & tidy. The sash windows wouldn't stay open , resulting in the room being very hot. The cord on the shower was broken & the shower head drooped. The plug in the sink in the bathroom didn't stay down so you couldn't fill the sink up! We were in room 5, right above the bar area, so the noise was very loud until gone midnight. The breakfast was nice but a bit greasy, I wouldn't stay here again or recommend this place to anyone else!

- Paula (10/5): - How modern and clean all was. The bed is super comfortable and they have facilities like a hairdryer and cozy blanket.
Breakfast was lovely as well The lighting could improve by having an ambient table lamp or more warm source of light
- Kathryn (8/5): Enjoyable stay. - We enjoyed all the food - fresh, home cooked, served in good time.
Staff all very helpful & friendly,
New management, recent refurb. They are trying very hard to get this right, and are. They deserve every customer, give The Buxted Inn a try! It's in an excellent location with quite a few tourist spots nearby. The weather could have been better!
- Roksana (10/5): Lovely place! - Very comfortable beds and spotless bathroom. The room was a tad too warm

- Joanne (9/5): Lovely comfortable stay - Staff were friendly and the food was lovely.
Rooms were clean and the shower was brilliant and easy to use.
- Nicky (5/5): The room temperature needs attention, it was so hot in our room that it was difficult to sleep and stay asleep! Even tur -
- Ray (10/5): - Friendly, comfy, value for money
- Nasi (5/5): It is a nice pub but it needs improvement. - I know chef has to ride his motorcycle to get to work but it doesn't mean the customers should get lat breakfast. That is not acceptable. Late breakfast or no breakfast at all. That is not acceptable.
- Pea (9/5): Fantastic standard of accomodation. Lovely bar but too many kids drinking & loud on all tables near - Great breakfasts! Eating dinner surrounded by loud 20 plus kids on a drinking weekend. No separation between dining and drinking to get away from the noise
- P L (10/5): -
- John (9/5): Very enjoyable stay. - Supreme quality room, wth luxorious shower.
Sunday lunch perfect value for price.
Excellent quality breakfasts, cooked to order. Choice and quantity of beverages in room?
- Marion (8/5): - it was close to the road - so a bit noisy but otherwise great value for money and very helpful staff.
- Conor (8/5): - Walking the Vanguard way. Perfect location, good food, value for money, friendly staff. What is not to like. Continental breakfast option maybe. In fairness the staff were so good that they would probably have provided that if I had asked.
- Baldock (8/5): Exactly what I expected. - The staff were friendly & accommodating. The only frustration was the card entry which was VERY slow to work...if it worked at all. The door entry card.
- Michelle (9/5): - Bar trendy- nice oub
staff very friendly
Food very good.
especially breakfast
Very warm comfortable room.
- Stephanie (9/5): Great value stay with a good breakfast - Great one night stay. Staff very helpful & friendly. We requested a vegan breakfast on arrival & the chef prepared a delicious offering next morning.
- Miriam (9/5): -
- Knowles (9/5): We will stay there again. - Convenient. Good value. Clean. Pleasant staff. We were there on quiz night unfortunately. Slow dinner service and noisy for our little family get together.
- Elizabeth (7/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): Suited us for what we needed that day. - Clean, comfortable with very helpful and friendly staff. Lack of Aircon.
- Joanna (10/5): Very nice one-night stay - Really lovely pub with very comfortable accommodation. The staff were all super friendly and the food in the evening and morning was very nice. The weather was very hot but the room was still comfortable with windows that opened and a fan was provided.
- Mark (10/5): All good - N/A N/A
- penny (10/5): - I booked a night away to celebrate my partners birthday here. I told the staff that lots of friends and family will be joining us in the bar after dinner as a surprise for my partner. All staff were aware and kept it quiet for me. They discretely reserved tables around where we were sitting. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was lovely, luxury facilities and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. Would like to give special thanks to the manager, Lee who worked tirelessly all evening and was even there again to cook and serve our delicious breakfast. Nothing
- Paul (10/5): Great place to stay - Was second time will stay again - Nice rooms Good food Clean and well maintained
- shamir (9/5): Clean cozy accommodation for a decent price. - The rooms were clean and cozy.
- Philip (8/5): -
- Cherie (10/5): - The breakfast was excellent Very clean and welcoming
- Selaine (1/5): Rip off - would like half my money back tbh! - Location and it took dogs (although was charged extra which wasn’t mentioned at time of booking) Overpriced. Was shabby - empty picture hook in room and top of wardrobe not been dusted in years, ironing board randomly in corridor. Heating didn’t work for first 24 hours so was freezing and had to use portable heaters, clearly an ongoing issue as there were spares in the corridor! Internet didn’t work either. Keys were erratic in their workings. Breakfast was ok but one tiny cup of tea, no one checked up on, chef clearly wanting to prep lunch. Guests clearly an inconvenience to the staff with no thought or care for their comfort or wellbeing. £170 a night is about double what the room was worth and their credit card facility didn’t work, no doubt due to the internet issues.
- Jayne (10/5): -
- Vivien (7/5): Lovely place but lack of food I wouldn’t stay again - It was very clean and comfortable There was no evening meal so had to go to the nearest town for food at night which is not ideal after working hard all day
- Luke (7/5): - Friendly staff, good pub. Nice clean room. Noise from other guests coming in late a night woke me up twice
- Sid (9/5): - room
- Maureen (10/5): - Lovely stay stay st the Buxted Inn Friendly staff comfortable room and great shower. .We hsd kunch which was great and good value.Breakfast was nice too. Nothing to report
- Stephen (7/5): Great place to stay and the breakfasts were lovely. - Close enough to main roads so could easily get around Shaver socket in the bathroom did not function. Luckily I brought a shaver plug.
- Sarah (5/5): Affordable accommodation but not the best! - The breakfast was very tasty and nicely cooked
Good value, nice quality sausage and bacon, The toilet pan wasn’t very clean ! Unfortunately the heating wasn’t very efficient so we were cold during our stay , the heated towel rail wasn’t working in room 4 , the shower was very good though ! Just chilly stepping out !
There was an issue with the electrics for the ceiling lights came on during the night ! Woke us up randomly at 1 am !
There was damp and the wall paper was lifting in our room !
It was fine for one night , and the bed was comfy, but disappointing as we had a good stay there back in May ! But then no heating was needed then !
- Tegan (9/5): Perfect place to crash for a walking weekend with friends. - As mentioned in plenty other reviews, the shower was amazing especially after a long day walking! The 'high tech' door bell meant we knew we'd get a good night sleep. We were not disturbed by the road noise or pub goers either. We ate dinner here Breakfast portions were small. We ate dinner here for ease which was satisfactory but didn't feel worth the price. Also, the menu was small than was advertised online.
- Rebecca (9/5): -
- KayNam (8/5): Pub B&B stay - Convenient affordable stay close to the venue for a wedding that we were attending, Charming staff and inclusive of home cooked pub English breakfast Given how affordable stay was not a complaint however seemed to have to pay the extra for childs stay and extra bed(which wasn't even used) even though when the booking was made on booking,.com it stated childs stay was included in the booked price
- Christine (8/5): Satisfactory for the one night - Staff friendly and helpful. Peaceful location. Everything we needed for an overnight stay. Pillows were not to our liking flat and unsupported. We couldn’t open the window for air.
- Carla (10/5): Perfectly pleasant - Clean modern good for a short stay!
Digital shower controls, you can turn the shower on and set the temp without getting in!
Breakfast was lovely and so were the staff! Our twin room was slightly too small but perfectly ok for our 1 night stay.
We couldn’t open the windows and it was hot in there! Found out the next day we should have asked the staff to open the window for us as they have a special
Hook!
- Klaus Georg (7/5): -
- John (8/5): -
- Avril (10/5): - It was so homely with lovely warm vibes Couldn't fault anything 😀
- George (8/5): Good parking , lovely coffee in room - Good location /
- Peter (9/5): -
- Susan (8/5): Friendly and affordable with parking a good one night stay - Very good facility with kettle and excellent selection of tea bags etc. Lighting in room was rather dim
- Yvonne (5/5): New ownership since September 2025 so previous recommendations don’t match to current situation. - The location and the parking Where do we start? Very bad mattresses, no cleaning of the room. Our waste was piling up, dirty cups and glasses, no toilet paper, no clean towels. Breakfast was bad, first day we had an extra selection of juices and cereals the next few days we had to ask for them. Loud music, baby cries and busy road. Fried food fumes in the bedroom …
- Andrea (10/5): A warm welcome and comfortable stay - always made to feel welcome, breakfast plenty of choice
- Tanya (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - Very friendly place to stay, lovely rooms and lovely food… staff couldn’t do enough for you xxxx
- Mema (8/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Great place for an overnight stay - Good location good food and easy parking
- Stuart (9/5): - Great pub nice room
Food very good ideal for my stay
- Nick from Hong Kong (7/5): I stay regularly and it is always good value and comfortable. - I always stay here when in the area. Small pub with 7 rooms but very comfortable with free car park. Consistently good. Rooms are good size and showers are the best I have found in any hotel.
- Tanya (10/5): Lovely experience would definitely stay again when visiting family - Very clean and friendly staff…nothing was to much bother,
- Jo Farrell (10/5): - Loved the layout, the room: the great shower and the super breakfast. The staff so helpful.
I am a bit concerned however, booking.com told me including breakfast..it would be circa £160 incl breakfast..however on the day we were charged..over £217. The charge was v different ..at over £217, when it should have been circa £160..
- Philippa (9/5): - Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean.
Staff helpful and friendly. The pub lounge had lots of interesting candle holders and pictures to look at.
Good cooked breakfast to start the day with.
A lovely relaxed stay.
- Patricia (8/5): - Warm, clean and cosy room..
- John (5/5): Acceptable pub accommodation. - Room and food were acceptable. The draft Harveys wasn't very good and nowhere near the best I tasted elsewhere.
- GUY (8/5): Recommended. - Very friendly staff, good clean room and delicious breakfast. Would stay again. It would have helped to have two room cards instead of just one. If one person went out with the card the lights cut out in the room.
- Vicki (10/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): Clean and tidy. Good sleep. Excellent breakfast. Welcoming hosts - Clean and everything you needed Slightly noisy
- Jamie BUGG (8/5): -
- michal (8/5): -
- Rick-d (8/5): Immaculately clean bedrooms, had a meal in the bar which was excellent. -
- Arie Yehuda (8/5): -
- Stenhouse (9/5): Excellent stay, value for money, with a lovely, warm welcome - The Inn was lovely, staff were very welcoming and I'm really pleased we booked here. Nothing
- Knowles (9/5): -
- Murray (10/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): Great stay! - The host was very welcoming & friendly, we arrived early before check in but were able to leave our bags which they took to our room when it was ready. The rooms were more spacious than I expected. Very comfortable, breakfast was really nice too. Lovely place, we'd stay again! 😊 There was nothing not to like, the only issue we had is that it was not very easy to get taxis which is not their fault. So definitely pre book if you are planning on using taxi service
- Alison (9/5): Our stay for the night after going to the opera at Glyndebourne - It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Location was very good for an evening at the opera. Nothing everything was good.
- Debbie (10/5): Lovely stay great value for money and would stay again! - Modern bar with great interior design!
Friendly staff
Room was comfortable and we really liked the posh coffee and oat milk offering in the tea/coffee tray. Ironing board and iron available too.
Breakfast and coffee next morning (8pm) was great like that you can order the night before too. Perfect! N/a
- Shailesh (7/5): -
- Adrian (4/5): After having stayed happily many times we were disappointed - Breakfast was disappointing. Large boxes of flakes, big bottles of milk , no fruit or yogurt. Long wait to be served, dirty tables, no waiting staff.
- Freia (10/5): Absolutely perfect and a great start to our big day !! - The pub downstairs is a lovely little place with the most amazing staff and food ! They were so attentive and informative and genuinely showed an interest in their guests! We happened to mention the reason we were staying in that particular area and they went above and beyond for us 🥹 we had the most pleasant time.
An extra cherry on top for us was how accommodating they were for a family member with a serious intolerance. Having specific touches in the rooms were a really big hit !
- Diana (9/5): - The place was very nice with a cozy atmosphere to it. The staff friendly and accommodating. Only spending one night there.
- Karol (10/5): -
- Diana (7/5): -
- Cosetta (10/5): - Ambiente accogliente.
Ottimo cibo. Camera fronte strada con molto traffico.
- Oleksandr (8/5): -
- Kabir (3/5): -
- Georgina (9/5): Lovely Stay - Lovely comfy bed. Great shower. Nice breakfast! Great location for the wedding we were attending
- Donna (10/5): -
- john (8/5): -
- Catherine (7/5): A pleasant overnight stay. Staff were lovely. - Room acceptable.....clean, bright, well stocked with bathroom items, coffee, tea etc mattress was very spongy
- cassidy (10/5): - good location and nice staff!
- polly (9/5): All good... - Great food all round. There is a small control panel next to the door that you have to set if you want the room cleaned. We didn't notice the panel until we were leaving - so room wasn't made up. Maybe some sort of sign would help.
