• Verified traveler (2/5): Unhelpful - An inexperienced individual tried booking a hotel in Ames and didn’t realize the top recommendation was an hour away, in Jefferson, and pushed through the reservation. We didn’t have that kind of time to lose so we had to pay for the stay that we couldn’t use.

Even after I turned the thermostat up it took several hours to get warm. I noticed the temp in the hallways and lobby was also very cool.

Beds are extremely hard the floor would have been more comfortable to sleep on the pillows are overly stuffed and extremely firm heater doesn’t work very well had to turn it up to 80 just to get warmish. • MWRecords (2/5): Stay somewhere else - Found roaches in our room and they would not allow us to cancel our reservation and charged us for nights we did not stay. It would have been reasonable to charge us for the one night we stayed and allowed us to cancel the remaining reservation without additional charge. We notified the management the following morning of the bugs and that we were moving to another hotel. At that time he would not allow us to cancel the nights that were within 24 hours due to “hotel policy”. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect “hotel policy” to be adjusted in this situation that was completely out of our control and was actually a hotel issue.

• Darrel (4/5): No more daily service. - Our stay was good until we came back from an all day outing and had no service in the room…bed not made, wet towels in the corner of the bathroom, etc. We were told that they only do room service every three days and that there was a small notice at the top of the mirror stating this. It seems like they could empty the trash and switch out the towels at the very least. Then there was the matter of a barking dog left in a room across the hall from us. The manager did try to reach the people who had left the dog alone in the room, but it was 20 or 30 minutes before they returned. Not at all the experience we expected for this Super 8.

• Passport823056 (6/5): Average Super 8 - Very clean. Not much for breakfast, no meat or eggs. Just cereal, toast, waffles, bananas. Such low water pressure in sink so had to use the tub faucet. No Kleenex, but I guess we could have asked for that. It was late and no one was at the desk. The price was almost double what we paid just a few months ago and that will make us consider whether we want to stay as often as we have in the past when visiting family.

The AC had one setting, full blast cold couldn't even turn it off It was just on I had to throw a blanket over it to stop from freezing. Also the shower in my room didn't work only the bathtub, so thats gross. No coffee in room just an empty coffee machine in the breakfast nook area. Like I said I wasn't expecting the lowes hotel by any means But for the hundred bucks It costed Knowing what I know now I would have spent the extra 10 bucks and went across the street to the casino hotel and had working shower. It's a place to sleep would not recommend

The bathroom looked a little worn BUT it was clean. Overall, a good stay and pleasant facilities. Nothing other than what I've stated.
