Guest Reviews
- Thomas (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff!!! Excellent breakfast and the rooms were very clean and maintained; however, there were no room darkening drapes or blinds only sheer see-through drapes which impacted our sleep and privacy. Also, we could smell cigarette smoke from the neighboring room being blown out their window. This was not the property's fault but diminished our experience. I recommend this property and the outstanding staff.
- Mariangeles (10/5): - Es la segunda vez que nos quedamos en ICON Casona 1900 y ambas veces nos ha ido de maravilla.
- EMALI (6/5): - Unfortunately the bed mattress was terrible. The rest was ok.
- Armando (6/5): - ok place
- Vincent (10/5): - ICON Casona 1900 is the ideal boutique hotel for a stay in Madrid. Great shopping and restaurants all around. The hotel is lovely; the rooms well appointed and spacious. Everything from the wonderful water pressure in the rain shower to the majestic breakfast buffet are top notch! We’ve stayed at ICON Casona multiple times, but all it will take is 1 time to fall in love with this gem of a hotel!
- juan (10/5): - Cleaness
- Alan (10/5): Expensive but comfotable - Nice hotel in the Salamanca district with easy access to high-end shops, bars and restaurants. Breakfast was good and rooms were spacious if not a little dated.
- André (10/5): Definitely an address to remember - The overall reception lobby area was extremely clean and in order. Same for the elevator, corridor to the rooms and the room itself.
- Gerardo (10/5): - Cada vez que visito Madrid no dudo en alojarme en Icon Casona . Todo excelente desde la propiedad , servicio y atencion de todo su personal . Ubicado en la mejor zona de Madrid. Olé!
- Luis (10/5): - Best location!

- SOFIA (10/5): - Excellent service and location
- Leigh (10/5): - The staff went out their way to be helpful to when we arrived early and our room wasn’t ready. Even offered and upgrade and a free cocktail. Hotel is lovely and elegant. Room has great amenities. Highly recommended.
- caridad e (10/5): A gem in Madrid - Amazing hotel in a beautiful area. The staff will do everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel is so beautiful, the rooms are clean and the amenities are Molton Brown. Nice bar service a spectacular breakfast. Hands down to the staff and the hotel.
- LUIS (10/5): Fabulous - Elegant, classy and with state of the art technology. Personable, friendly and super professional staff. Every detail is being taken care of with such diligence, mastery and with the utmost attentiveness. An absolute delight which would make anyone come back over and over again.
- JUAN MANUEL (10/5): - Great Place
- SOFIA (10/5): - Excelente servicio, hoyel chico con atención personalizada.
- Jose (10/5): - Excelente hotel. Personal muy amigable! Buena relación calidad precio!
- Liza (8/5): - Good location!
No air conditioner in cold months, you have to open the window.
- Luis (10/5): - Great experience!!!
- Antonio Carlos Da (8/5): - Great hotel overall.
- Gina (10/5): - Very trendy
- E (6/5): Noisy room mere metres from the lobby... - I've stayed at the Casona before back in 2018 and had an excellent stay. The main issue this time was the location of my room. It was literally 10m from the front check in desk - so i was woken up around 7am with the noise from the lobby.
I'd challenge you to find a room closer to the lobby in any hotel. There are two rooms on the right as you enter - i would strongely recommend that you ask to be moved if given one of these. The room itself was of a good standard - a nice big bed with an excellent power shower.
Breakfast was rather disappointing with a limited selection.
- Gina (10/5): - Staff was extremely kind and helpful. Always available to provide recommendations.
- Nicolas (10/5): - Great location, clean and nice stuff
- Alejandro (8/5): - Excellent location and room size
- Antonio (10/5): - This hotel has become our usual hotel in Madrid. We love the breakfasts, location, rooms, and feel of the place. Very friendly staff, too!
- JUAN MANUEL (10/5): - Great
- Gabriel (10/5): - The attention and service the staff is very accommodating. Location is the best near great shopping and restaurants.
- Bianca (8/5): - Excellent location in a beautiful part of the city. Quiet and many restaurants nearby. Nice and well outfitted room. Downsides were room features that were not functioning and were not fixed, along with concierge staff who were not able to make citywide recommendations.
- Montserrat (10/5): - Great location, spacious rooms, good breakfast…friendly staff!
- Eli (10/5): - This hotel is situated in the heart of Madrid but on a quiet corner, within walking distance to anywhere. Amazing service and nicely appointed rooms. My favourite Madrid hotel.
- Perdomo (10/5): Excelente estadia. - Excelente estadia. Sin duda me quedaré aqui en mi próximo viaje a Madris.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - My room was
- Humberto (10/5): - Location, great accommodations, personalized service at all levels.
- claudia alexandra (10/5): Great service, location with a unique design twist - We moved to Icon Casona from another hotel of the same class category and were thrilled at the superior quality, condition and service. The rooms were large, decorated in a very unique style of the 1900s giving the hotel a classic chic touch mixed in with all the modern amenities of bedside touch screen controls of the lights, screens and even the do not disturb sign with a press of a button. We even got to order room service from Mexican restaurant downstairs as well as savour their generous breakfast buffet and all were a great success! On our last day we even took advantage of a special cooperation with a spa around the corner and enjoyed a last minute massage. Icon Casona invested a lot into the renovation of their hotel and the quality of the friendly service of their staff as well as the generous rooms sizes all made our stay a five star experience for a superior four star hotel in a great, quiet location in the tranquil, chic Salamanca area.
- Eduardo (10/5): - Excellent service and amenities. Staff super friendly
- Cynthia de (10/5): - It’s a nice hotel
- Erika (10/5): - This property is amazing we stayed 3 night and wished it was longer.
- Andres (6/5): - The hotel requires significant improvement. I was shocked by the rude cleaning lady that told me, that mandatorily, I had to press the clean botton so my room got cleaned. She began to argue with me which is unacceptable.
Additionally, the hotel has no gym, no room service at night, and overall I feel it is not well managed.
Regarding the breakfast buffet, it was good but could be vastly improved.
- Humberto (10/5): - This is my favorite hotel in Madrid.
The best location, very contable room and the best A/C . Breakfast is a most specially during the summer is served in their rooftop
I had stay during the last 30 years in many hotels in the city including 5 stars like The Ritz, The Bless, Westin Palace, Intercontinental, ME hotel by Melia, etc. But the personalized service at the ICON La Casona 1900 is truly THE BEST
- Moises (10/5): Wow, just wow. Better than the pictures - Wow, just wow. The hotel is way better than the description and the pictures. Location is great, in an elegant and sophisticated neighborhood near Mercado de La Paz and Calle Serrano.
Staff is beyond great, they go the extra mile helping with reservations and tips and making your stay perfect. Adrian and the rest of the staff members truly make the difference.
The room is big, nicely decorated with high quality furniture and lights. The bathroom is big and the shower is better than any other hotel I've been at. Definitely my favorite hotel in Madrif.
Can't wait to be back
- Claudia (8/5): - Very nice and comfortable hotel. Awesome location. On the heart of Barrio Salamanca, walking distance to everything, Shops, Restaurants, etc.
Incredible, friendly and helpful staff. Clean and well kept.
- Gebran (10/5): - Location very friendly staff. Beautiful rooms and excellent service
- Gebran (10/5): - The reception was fantastic. All the staff are very accommodating and friendly. Specially Cindy.
- KAY (10/5): Excellent stay - Loved this hotel, great location, super clean and beautifully presented
- Eli (10/5): Really great hotel - Excellent hotel with friendly service in the heart of Madrid
- Giancarlo (10/5): - -
- Maria (10/5): - I loved everything about this little place. I would stay here without hesitation. Room was impressively clean. Friendly and courteous staff.
- Bisila (10/5): - My home in Madrid, the hotel is great and the greatest the team!
- ximena (10/5): - Best service!!
- Alberto (10/5): Cool and cozy - Perfect spot um Madrid
- Humberto (10/5): - A truly personalized service. Great location and the breakfast is delicious
Like I always said La Casona is my home away went I traveled to Madrid
- Humberto (10/5): - This time I made the reservation for my son and his girlfriend. I choose This hotel, SIMPLY because it is for me the best value for your money. You couldn't ask for a better location, rooms are all totally remodeled and specially the shower and bed are AMAZING. I travel to Spain and to Madrid at least 4 to 5 time for many years, I stayed at almost all hotels in the city From the Palace, to The Ritz, The Intercontinental, Bless Hotel, ME by Melia, etc. All or must of the properties are excellent but the best secrets at La Casona is the personalized attention you get from the staff, they get to know your name so you are no longer room 315 but Mr. de Lara. I have reservations for my wife and I at the beginning of next month for 3 nights on the way to our second home in Galicia.
- Amanda (10/5): - The shower was the best I've had in any hotel. The hotel staff was over-the-top helpful. I lost a purse and wallet on the train earlier in my train and they helped contact the train station and locate the missing items. I would not have been able to get the items back without the hotel staff's assistance.
- SIMON (10/5): - nice location and great small hotel
- Alexander (10/5): Highly Recommend - Classical Spanish room with modern touches like automatic blackout curtains and external sound-proofing. The terrace suite is an incredible deal, especially being located in the heart of Salamanca - the old money/high-end shopping district.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location but not the best stay - I have originally booked this hotel but the week prior to arrival I’ve received an email informing that we were relocated to a different hotels due to opening issues with Casona.
Once at the new hotel there was a problem with hot water so took a cold shower (which is not my think at all) before going to work.
Slippers/bathrobe/dental kit were not supply as it was only for superior rooms... (?) but I was given them as a good gestire due ti the cold water.
I was given a quiet room as requested, however very dark & next to the cleaners rooms which woke me up every morning when they’re shift was starting. Not pleasant considering that I was working 12/15 hours a day and I needed a slow relaxing waking up time in the mornings.
Overall not the best stay in Madrid.
Not sure if I’ll go back again.
- Humberto (10/5): - Very profesional staff a great location and very nice facilities and huge room
- Jason (10/5): - This is a lovely boutique property in a great neighborhood. We felt very well taken care of -- the staff are kind and thoughtful -- and the room was large and well-appointed. The shower was especially remarkable!
- Bruno (10/5): - location was a key, also the friendly staff. Great hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love Madrid, whenever I come back I like to know new areas, this one is ideal for shopping. The hotel offers spacious and very comfortable rooms. Also the restaurants around are very good. This was a great choice!
- Wael (8/5): - excellent location. trendy neighborhood. close to transportation. good restaurants and boutiques nearby. very friendly staff. clean modern rooms with outstanding water pressure in shower!
- Verified traveler (10/5): New, modern boutique hotel - New, modern, small boutique hotel in a quiet area of the neighborhood. If you like to shop in calle Serrano and dine in the restaurants of Salamanca, this is an excellent choice. The hotel staff is great, very knowledgeable and helpful, they try to please you in every possible way to make sure you have an excellent experience. Stayed in a superior double room that had "intelligent room controls" was very comfortable, nicely decorated, spacious and clean. The bathroom was very modern, with a walk-in shower. It had all the modern amenities.
- Mark (10/5): - We loved the location, very convenient to everything, but out of the rush of crowds. There was a great market just one street away. The rooms were beautifully arranged with lots of amenities, had multiple balconies. The electronic controls in the room were great. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was beautiful. We loved staying there and would highly recommend it. Front desk staff were all very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, clean, nice shower, good service.
Can hear activities and conversations of neighbours. Breakfast very expensive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location excellent, staff helpful and accommodating. Room clean and large
- DC-based (10/5): - Great location, less than 30 minutes from airport yet walking distance from main musea. The hotel is a beautiful, modernized building with high-tech amenities. Staff are friendly, very helpful and speak perfect English. Rooms come with Nespresso machine, large TV screen (you can stream your own Netflix). The bathroom is beautifully designed with great rain shower. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location, right in the heart of barrio Salamanca. Close to many restaurants, bars, shopping and transportation. Facilities are brand new looking, rooms are just as depicted in website, very well decorated. Only issue the air conditioning which was turned off for the building the first two days, because "it was cold the previous few days" prior to our arrival. So first couple of nights, room was a little warm. Would not have been a problem if windows are opened, but if windows are opened, auto/blinds go up. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will certainly stay at Casona for our next stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean. Staff is very friendly. They were able to print out our train passes after I forgot them for our trip. Location is great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Rooms are super tiny and expensive. For that price you can get much better options in Madrid.
The location is good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location with good restaurants and shopping in the area. Room was compact but adequate. Bed was comfortable but seating in the room was not. Good breakfast. Biggest complaint is the paper thin walls separating the guest rooms. Sound transference was terrible sounded like next door neighbours were in the same room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A wonderful room and the staff was so helpful! We really enjoyed our stay.
- Ed (8/5): - If shopping for high-end and designer brands is your thing, this is an excellent hotel. The touristy stuffs are about 10 minutes away or a good walking distance. The room is spacious and modern. It comes with a balcony and espresso machine. It’s quiet and have good ambiance. Smart TV and good WiFi round out the amenities.
The drawbacks: parking, a card key that had to be re-programmed 4 times during my 4-night stay, an electronic toilet which makes “courtesy flushing” impossible, limited menu on the on-site bar/restaurant.
Pluses: Location, location, location!
- Kimberly (10/5): - Excellent rooms modern with plenty of space. Nicest hotel I have stayed in so far in Madrid
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent hotel located in the best part of the city!
- Ildemaro (10/5): Summary of a small but great hotel - Great location, quiet, excellent restaurant around, close to Matro, stores for shopping .much better than any high traffic hotel . Our room has a balcony to drink a coffee or tea or even a wine .
Luis and Teresa in the front desk were great
- TheKemist (8/5): - Was a good place overall. Staff were a little pushy when it came to checkout. Some common items offered in many chain hotels upon request were not available. Coffee is limited, no free drinking water in the room, you have to bring your own.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - loved this petit hotel! perfect for me and my partner for a romantic night in madrid
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff that I dealt with Monica and Jose were outstanding! Both took their time and offered me many great suggestions of where to eat, what to do and how to get there. Both had up personalities and were lovely to deal with.
My room was clean with a beautiful view of the trees. They also gave me an upgrade which was appreciated. Very modern amenities with a charming feel to it. Great rain shower with amazing water pressure. Air conditioning worked perfectly and was quiet as well as the room. I slept 9 hours straight which hasn’t happened for me in years. Electric black out shades helped with that. Bed was quite comfy. I highly recommend this hotel and when I come back to Madrid this will be where I stay!
- Maria (10/5): - Perfecta localización, excelente atención al cliente, habitación elegante, confortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, great room, great service, i will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property had nicely designed comfortable rooms, an excellent breakfast, and friendly staff. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Madrid.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved modern lights, etc. However brand new system for TV did not offer basic options such as subtitles or the ability to get into “original versions” as many programs on Spanish portion were American productions.
- ingrid (8/5): - Good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location and cleanliness and breakfast. Great service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was excellent. Extremely clean property. Perfect location.
- Carlos (10/5): Fun time in Madrid - Hotel is in a great location, the staff is excellent, great places to shop and restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommended - Very helpful stuff
Beautiful hotel
The area is superb
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Best location , should improve cleanliness but overall loved the hotel, stuff really nice, comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The stuff very nice ,great location,we enjoyed the breakfast Mohamed was very friendly and nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): Modern, Simple, and Clean - Nice and comfortable location. I would recommend it. The hotel is not luxurious, but it is clean and very modern. I believe the appliances and decor are new.
Breakfast is around 20 euros, if you want to eat in the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff attention very polite and helpfull very good location great modern rooms recomienden 100%
- Dorothy (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel in great location - ICON Casona 1900 is a beautiful, sleek boutique hotel in the fancy Salamanca neighborhood of Madrid. It is surrounded by high-end shops and restaurants and is walking distance (about 20 minutes) to the old center of Madrid. My husband and I walked to see all the major museums and other sites. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would return there is we visited Madrid again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved my stay. Comfortable rooms with old style but modern features (all digital). Great staff and service. Would definitely return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Another excellent stay at this centrally located hotel in Salamanca area. Great rooms and friendly staff
- Sunshine (10/5): - The staff, especially Isabel, were very helpful & attentive to our needs. We stayed in a superior room, spacious, comfortable bed, well-lighted, soundproofed windows.
The bathroom with shower was great, except for the narrow toilet area. But it had excellent lighting (a rarity in hotels!) & counter space.
The few cons: as mentioned, the narrow toilet space, the electric blinds could only be up or down, and it was possible to hear all the noise in the hallway through the room door.
Everything seemed to be electronically based, which was fine. Two usb outlets at the bedside tables. Nice touch.
Well located & easy access to the museums & other sites. I highly recommend this hotel.
