Guest Reviews
- Brenda (10/5): Good value Safari camp - A surprise in this location. Great chance to Safari in Meru NP. Lush grounds a cool retreat in the rural neighbourhood. Tents private. Service personal and attentive .
A very economical Safari camp experience. I hope more people find this place. It’s a great option in Meru County.
- Roberto (10/5): - Ambiente molto rilassante e curato nei minimi particolari. Lo staff molto attendo e piacevole. Il cibo era eccellente . I molti gatti a volte erano un po’ fastidiosi.
- paolo (7/5): -

- David (6/5): - Staff was great. Very clean. Friendly. Good location. Cats fighting making noise. Food was adequate but always space for improvement.
- Abbott Smith (10/5): One I would definitely like to repeat - Clean , spacious, comfortable, great accessories
- Abbott Smith (10/5): A brilliant and wonderfully peaceful stay at Ikweta. X - Everything
- Paul (9/5): - Organisation, sehr freundliches Personal, Sauberkeit, Essen, Lage Pünktlichkeit frühmorgens. Nicht schlimm, will es aber erwähnt haben....

- Amanda Catherine (9/5): Would definitely recommend. Stunning setting. Wonderful, friendly staff. - Lovely, attentive, professional and friendly staff. Had a fantastic dinner of fish prepared by the chef. A little far out, but perfect for safari if you have time.
- Amanda (10/5): Amazing experience in a fantastic camp! - Everything at Ikweta is amazing! From the actual rooms and grounds, to the wonderful staff, to the amazing manager Allan and the very kind and caring owners, Susan and John. I am hoping to go back to this property again and again, and it’s 2km from the national park!

Repas corrects service long Le Wifi est catastrophique.
Nichts
- Michael (10/5): Fanstatic place to stay when visiting Meru - Loved the clean tidy feel of the site. Loved the 'tent', very much a large room with good bathroom. Loved the feel of the park the camp was set in. Lots of amazing vegetation. Loved the closeness of the less visited Meru park. Loved the intimate feel of the site, big effort made to make us feel welcome and gave a lot of help to get our guide there. Loved going to a local town and walking round it. Best of all were the staff, friendly, helpful and excellent service from cheerful well trained people. Some only stay one night, mistake, we stayed 3 nights and wasn't enough. Finally many hotels play the 'saving the environment' card but its really an excuse to try and save money for the hotel chain (you know who you are!), Ikweta really lives the environmental and conservation life. Its not just lip service, everything is well thought out and environmentally as good as it gets. Very little but getting hot water to the shower was a little challenging.
- Abreall (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerard (5/5): Beware of cats - Camp lay.out and location, its staff, the food are all excellent. BUT if you do not like cats, do not go, there are 100's of them .. and .. if you happen to go
during a weekend, then be prepared to NOT SLEEP as the neighbourhood church blasts LOUD MUSIC all night long !
- Bill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harald (10/5): Nice stay , Warm environment and best service - Fresh food and best packed lunch and breakfast
- Jerono (10/5): Exceptional - The camp is quite serene. The silence is what took me there and that was what I found. It being very close to Meru National Park was also a plus.
- Lucy (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Great loaction for Meru safari park and they are able to arrange guided drives in Meru if desired. Very freindly host and lovely rooms and facilities. Food was also very good and accomodating for dietary requirements.
- Aniza (7/5): 👍🏼 - Wonderful staff. Went the extra mile to accommodate us,no request was too much.Coffee and cake at our tent before safari apart from whipping up something for the kids on request.
Took the time and effort to assist us do the paperwork for the entrance to the KW park which is a task so do this in advance.
John the owner was kind enough to listen and take on board our comments regarding food options.Though the chef is happy to accommodate your request,it isn’t obvious initially as you are presented with a black board with what you shall receive for lunch/dinner making it look like this is the only option which isn’t the case.
Food is fresh from farm to plate ..perhaps would be a bonus if it was hot from pan to plate too.
Hippo camp/tent has a septic tank behind it,so each time the beautiful African breeze blows at night, hold on to your nose as smell of sewage is quite potent, otherwise the rooms are comfy and to a good standard.
Saturday nights nearby disco vibes and Sunday mornings church hymns can either add or take away from the experience depending on taste.
Pool was clean and a treat!
Cats very friendly.
Park a stones throw away.Unhurried check out.Thank you for all the effort and hospitality.
- Gregory (9/5): The perfect place to visit NP and surroundings - Great location next to the park entrance, beautiful tents in a scenic environment! Wonderful swimming pool, great hosts and eco friendly! Nothing
- Deborah (9/5): Would definitely recommend Ikeweta Safari Camp as a place to stay for Meru National Park safaris. - Excellent value for money. Beautiful hosted tented camp set in trees a few minutes outside Meru National Park. Spacious tents, a very lovely clean swimming pool, good food, welcoming staff and an lovely ambience with sculptures and other features in the grounds.
- Beitj (10/5): Very goog place to stay - Very Nice tents , very friendly staff , all meals included
- Achim (10/5): Exceptional - Very warm welcome and great staff, very clean , well decorated rooms with african touch ..the place is just heaven on earth ...we will definety be back
- Meron (9/5): Nice stay in Meru - It's a convenient camp lodge near the gate of Meru National Park. The staff were very nice and helpful. The lodge is overall great.
- Arthur (10/5): Great camp - Great lodge right outside meru park. Quiet camp with nice food and good value for money. I really enjoyed my stay here and the staff was lovely. Great night sounds comfortable tent to explore the less visited meru park
- Allan (9/5): A lovely weekend getaway - The location just next to the park was quite nice. The food was very well prepared and tasty. The members of staff were excellent.
- Hilary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (9/5): Superb -
- Kahlia (9/5): A unique safari experience next to Meru National Park - The property is the real gem here. You are surrounded by forests and gardens with secluded walkways, full of the sounds of birds and other animals. The tents are comfortable, private, and clean, and the staff take care to close your curtains, fill up water bottles, and turn on the mosquito diffusers every evening. The location is very convenient to go on safari, especially given that you can come back for lunch before you go for an afternoon game drive. Overall it's a very unique safari experience and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and we appreciate the option to have a packed breakfast or lunch for game drives. The other meals were not so impressive, but still well cooked and filling. It would be good to know ahead of time that "full board" includes meals and water, but not other drinks during lunch and dinner.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elsa (10/5): a beautiful stay - The staff were excellent - extremely helpful and kind. It was the perfect place to go after long days driving in Meru National Park. I will be back!
- Rita (9/5): Superb -
- Rita (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (10/5): Our favorite stay in Kenia! - The staff was amazing, the food super tasty, the location next to the Meru park was great and we had a super nice, friendly and smart guide (thanks Lois!), the tents where clean, spacious and located far from each other to really be private. We struggled to leave! Nothing
- Kathryn (7/5): Good -
- Hanne (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hans (9/5): Superb -
- Johan (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): 5* luxury at a very affordable price - a fantastic place! - What a fantastic place - 5*! The staff were all very friendly, they couldn't do enough to make you feel at home, and they were all super helpful. The safari tents were very luxurious, as good as you would get in a camp ten times the price. There was a lot of attention to detail, large comfy bed, beautiful ensuite with lovely slate decor and decoration. Nothing had been forgotten, numerous attractive lights, desk, a torch, comfy chairs and an outside terrace, and lots of authentic African pictures and decorations. The camp is set in lovely gardens, with water features and waterfalls, all lit up at night. There is a nice swimming pool, which is welcome after a hot safari drive. The dining room has a nice ambience, set within the gardens, and the food was all delicious. It is also only a couple of kilometres from the Meru National Park Gate, so the camp is well situated. We couldn't fault Ikweta Safari Camp, it is fantastic value for money. Nothing!
- Kelvin (9/5): Superb -
- Jill (8/5): Enjoyed our time here - Friendly staff and delicious food. The mosquitoes found their way inside our room and enjoyed several meals. ugh!
Also a portable fan would really be nice inside the room.
- Annamari (5/5): A bit disappointing because the tents are beautiful and staff really try so hard to please. - The food was very average and you never got to see a menu to choose from and got a blackboard to say it is butternut soup. So what must you say? There is 1 choice.
The packed breakfast and lunch were really disappointing. It was dry and unappitizing. The fruit package was ok.
I know you market yourself as affordable but then dont be skimpy on the food or at least try to be more creative with it.
Our tent was for 2 days without hot water and at last after 2nd day we were shifted to a new tent with hot water. The food can definitely be upgraded and be more creative and appetising or more choices can be given.
The management must make sure that hot water is not a problem, because it really marred the experience for us.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (9/5): Well worth it. - The food was very fresh and tasty. My kids loved the meals. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Susan and her husband were very warm and welcoming.
- Marinus (7/5): Good -
- Stetson (10/5): - Right on the doorstep on Meru, the rooms are comfortable, meals delicious, staff accommodating, and nature relaxing. We left early one day on a game drive and we’re provided a cooler with breakfast to take with us. Loved staying here and would definitely return. There are a lot of cats, but they are not bothersome.
- Corinne (10/5): An outstanding place to be - What a great place to stay! The lodge is outstanding. We liked everything: the staffl were extremly friendly, the tents with the veranda wonderful to stay in, the food was delicious and the pool great to relax after the safari.
Susan and her staff made us feel as we were at home.
If we could give more than 10 points we definitly would!
We stayed at the lodge 3 nights, but with 2 different bookings - and we would have been more than happy, to stay some more nights at this wonderful place :-)!
- Konstantinos (10/5): - Uniquely situated and well kept property. Incredibly attentive staff! We loved the resident kitties!
- Kelly (8/5): Great camp in Meru - This is a great camp right outside the gates of Meru National Park. The tents are beautiful and comfortable with great patios. Food can take awhile, but quality is good. Hope to come back again in the future.
- Ronald (10/5): Great value for money - Amazing place, close to the main gate. Wonderful pool, good food and all this for an incredibly low price. I didn't expect it to be this good when I booked.
- Kiran (8/5): Perfect getaway 1km from Meru National Park - Our experience at iKweta exceeded our expectations. Susanne, Allan and the rest of the staff were very accommodating and approachable. The made my birthday special by preparing a cake and offering a complimentary sparkling wine. They also ensured we had various vegetarian options for our meals, which were fresh and well made. The room was very clean and comfortable and the pool was great to relax in the hot weather. One suggestion would be for the management to arrange for a fan in the room during the hot season. This would have made our stay even more relaxing and enjoyable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was good value for money. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful rooms and bathrooms with attention to detail. The owner Susan is a delightful woman.
The quality of the food served was fine but not excellent: we cannot second the reviews we’d read before our visit about the excellent kitchen. The seating area outside could do with some more comfortable chairs, to make a day just lazing away at the camp a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
- Jensen (10/5): Beautiful resort with friendly, helpful staff. - We were not prepared for how gorgeous the resort and tents would be. Staying here was one of the highlights of our time in Kenya. The tents were beautiful, with comfy beds and a full bathroom. This was the prefect place to call home after game drives in Meru all day, especially since the camp is located so close to the park. They also offer park maps of Meru for game drives, and advice on where to drive for the best views in the park since we were doing a self-drive.
Everyone on staff was wonderful to us, including the chef and ownership, who all greeted us warmly and helped make our stay there really great. We look forward to coming back.
- Keith (10/5): - One of the coolest overnight experiences we've ever had. Fantastic staff, charming host, beautiful accommodations in an amazing setting.
- Din-Wei (10/5): Very impressive! - Wonderful stay!!! 5-star service with fantastic staffs, great food, and comfortable tent at reasonable price!
Met the owner Susan who is very friendly and does care guests a lot!
Saw a lot of animals in Meru National Park~ Very impressive place to stay~
- Nic and Mandy (10/5): Tasteful & relaxing safari camp close to Meru Park - Each tent is tastefully furnished and secluded.
The grounds are an oasis of calm - acacia bushes, mango trees, restored natural vegetation.
The staff are very friendly and very willing - laying on a birthday cake and musical performance for my wife's birthday. They helpfully arranged our transfer back to Nairobi.
The food (full board included) was always fresh and well cooked - not fancy gourmet food (which one could not expect for the price) but always tasty.
iKweta was extremely good value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great safari camp IVO Meru Park - Great stay at Ikweta Safari Camp. Budget camp but still with great comfort of beautiful safari tent and great inside decoration, with nice private veranda. Cosy meal area with inside and outside possibilities, and nice lounge area to read and relax. Pool area is great, really enjoyed it. Best place to Stay IVO Meru Park, would definitely recommend, only 5min to the gate. Patricia was a great host, most helpful.
