Guest Reviews
- Joe (10/5): Great value for money - Location is few steps away from a big grocery store, restaurants, gas stations. Generous parking space.
Very friendly front desk attendant. Very welcoming and always greet with a smile. None
- Sebastian (7/5): -
- Catlin (9/5): Exactly where I should have been sleeping - Everything I needed
- Darcy (1/5): I stayed in a lot of motels when biking across Canada and the United States. Hands down, this was the worst motel I have - Not 1 single thing. Filthy room. Stale smoke smell. Water taps didn’t work. Thermostat ripped off the wall. Sheets all stained. Tub was filthy.
- Abd Almalek (10/5): -
- Elvin (4/5): -
- Todd (6/5): - Very old and dated but reasonably clean and comfortable. Pretty much as expected for the price.
- Kim (4/5): - Old, dingy and had an unpleasant odour. Right beside busy highway.
- Marcus (2/5): - Absolutely run down, disgusting.
- Denyce (10/5): Exceptional - The location, the bed and the staffs are really nice. The AC wasn’t really blowing any cold air even tho we put it on high and even tho it was on all night.
- Terry (2/5): - After a couple of nights having it sound like someone in my room was awakened again and turned on the lamp to investigate. I found multiple mice in my room.
I gathered up my things at 2:00 am an left this motel to sleep in my truck
I realize this is a budget motel and the price reflects that but having a mouse problem, the motel having broken down vehicles around the property and the area not having minimal maintenance for several years I would not recommend to anyone
- Dean (8/5): - Right off the highway
- Kathy (10/5): - Wonderful hospitality and service.
- Farah (10/5): Exceptional -

- Bill (8/5): - It's a basic simple room, clean and function, showing wear and tear but priced right accordingly.
- Brenda (7/5): Good - Nice clean room
Great price Everything was good
- Malcolm (1/5): Bad -
- Tyson&natasha (4/5): Work related. - It was cost effective and I got upgraded to a kitchenette. The room was tidy. There was a fan with open wires in the shower. The bed was old.
- Rudnytskyi (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ashley (10/5): Will be staying again - Price is right, rooms are clean, and the staff were very kind, surprisingly the bed was super comfy too.
- George (2/5): Hard Pass - With extensive renos, this property MAY become a 1 star one day...hope they start with getting heat into rooms (not good for late November stay...)
- Anonymous (1/5): Bad -
- Josh (5/5): Passable -
- Debbie (8/5): - This was a good stop over for our trip from AK to the lower 48. It is definitely a more worn down and older motel, but very clean and comfortable beds. The lady that checked us in (I think is the owner) was so pleasant and welcoming. We weren't too sure about it when we pulled up, but it ended up being a great stay. Other people staying were quiet. You could tell the walls were thin - but when we stayed nobody was being really noisy. Great to have a good night sleep and not pay a whole lot.
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Shane (10/5): Stay there if picking a place to stay - Hospitality was excellent and would recommend. It's worth staying here I would book this hotel again.nothing bad to say really. Nothing
- Hallie (6/5): Pleasant - Friendly staff . Comfortable beds Needs updating . Bathrooms especially
- Robert (10/5): - Yes good
- Sarah (1/5): Bad -
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Shane (8/5): Very good - Staff was the best. Great friendly couple that ran it. Always had a smile and engaged in conversation with you. Overall great place to stay for the value. Bed was comfortable and room was always cleaned every day. Motel is a work in progress. Has improved 1000% since I was there a few years ago. Room was clean but dust blew in from under the door. No big deal to us but still needs some finishing done. Shower pressure needs help.
- notlistedn (10/5): Great Value; friendly managers - What a great break on a long drive! Welcomed by very friendly managers. Rooms are nicely appointed & clean. Lots of room amenities. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Very comfortable bed & furniture. Walking distance to many places to eat.
- Joseph (10/5): Some of the nicest staff I’ve ever met - Friendly staff , I forgot my headphones and they went above and beyond to find it and mail it to me
- Steven (6/5): Decent overnighter - Quick in and out stay while there for work
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stuff
- Trevor (10/5): - Staff very friendly & helpful
- Steve (10/5): Helpful front-desk - Typical park in front of your room cinderblock hotel. Was clean and front-desk was very helpful as I wanted to stay near my friends room. Ended up with a king-sized bed and kitchenette (which had a full size fridge).
Had ample hot water available as soon as I turned on the hot tap. Parking lot was muddy from all the worker trucks, and I was driving local roads so my vehicle was quite muddy too - hey it's Fox Creek, comes with the territory ;-)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Looks rundown on the outside however the rooms are decent.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I asked for a nonsmoking room and the people beside me smoked which I was informed was not a smoking room, but the owner told them they could from what they told me, also owner was very argumentative when I contacted him about this, and there’s always a group of people partying at night, doesn’t matter what day of the week it is, don’t recommend
- troydamico (6/5): Oilfield work - Very clean room, decent price, very friendly owner,i highly recommend this place for workers. Full size fridge and microwave in room, barbecues also available outside. Walking distance to grocery stores and restaurants
- Bryan (6/5): - It was what you expect for the price. Pictures are deceiving
- mbrunet (4/5): Old - I know this is Fox Creek and mostly catering to the oil and gas industry. But this motel desperately needs a good cleaning. Even the parking area outside behind the check in office is filled with junk. There’s a chair inside the motel that’s disgusting and should be thrown out and no,,, not left in the parkade neither. The general condition of the room was ok. Bed was clean along with bathroom. Burnt bulb in sink area but don’t replace just removed lol. Anyhow if it was totally cleaned up fresh paint etc. Would be a great place. Now just feels run down.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Only issue I had was that the thermostat didn't stop the heat coming from the registers. Had to leave my window open because it was too hot even with the thermostat all the way off
- 512deidrek (8/5): Visiting my husband working in area - This is an old motel that is slowly being renovated by the new owners. It is by no means a luxury hotel but the rooms are comfortable and extremely clean. Seeing as this is a rig town I was surprised how clean it was! Owners are hard working and very friendly. They took over an hour to clean one room! Everything you need is within walking distance. They do have toast and coffee in the main office. I would recommend to anyone working in the area for a long term stay.
- lmnopo (8/5): Fox Creek Gem - I stayed for a week, the room was decent clean and comfortable, they have been renovating the rooms here and it's looking good. The room I had came with a big fridge, microwave, big tv.
Most of the people staying here are working so the mornings can be a bit loud and early.
A short walk to all amenities.
I would stay here again it is better than it was years ago when I stayed here.
- RyanC5650 (10/5): Closed off bedroom within the double kitchenette rooms - The major pro why I always stay here when I'm in Fox Creek: I usually stay with a roommate and I prefer my privacy, most of the double kitchenette rooms in this hotel have the second bed in a closed off bedroom on it's own, with its own door. It's almost like a suite. In my experience staying at multiple hotels in fox creek, this is the only hotel in the area has this.. Also it is very clean. It is also in a good location with plenty of parking, and the grocery store and restaraunts/pharmacy is short walk away.
- chelseaa729 (10/5): Amazing customer service!! - This family run motel in Fox Creek went above and beyond the call of duty for my boyfriend and I staying in the small town for work. After have stayed in our camper for the last 5 months working in the bush you can only imagine what a BRAND NEW king sized bed, BRAND NEW 42' Flatscreen, BRAND NEW fridge felt like! Working all day to renovate the room so it was ready for our arrival after work. (We were in a waiting list for a kitchenette so he decided to completely renovate the room for us) We unwrapped the new appliances and got settled in, let me tell you how amazing my first bath in months felt. The water pressure for the shower was phenomenal!!! Looking forward to my next couple months stay at the Alaskan during these cold winter months ahead :)
- KatM1069 (10/5): Great for long term stay - I always stay here when I go to fox creek for work, it's very homey feeling and close to everything, lots of parking, and cheapest price in Fox Creek. Also, pleasantly surprised last time I stayed, I got one of the renovated rooms and it was really nice with a flat screen TV. The guy at the front desk is really friendly.
- brissko (10/5): Nice stay - The room looked like it was recently renovated it had new appliances and was clean and quiet. They didn't have breakfast but that's OK since for what I paid I didn't expect it. They had some tv box that let you pick movies to watch for free like netflix which was pretty neat. Manager let me stay late with no extra charge.
- jubajaba (2/5): Sleep in your Car! - This has been by far the most disgusting hotel that I have Ever stayed in.
I am not one to destroy someones lively hood but no motel/hotel should never give rooms in this condition to patrons/guests.
Fox Creek was as far as I could go; I had aimed that this would be as far as I could go, and had called ahead as I was told to find a cheap place to spend the night and it being the Canada Long weekend, I made a reservation. The gentleman that answered the phone was hard to hear over the sound of a vacuum and had also proceeded to answer another call whilst on the phone with me.
Upon arrival at the hotel it looked run down, but I'm never one to just judge a book by its cover. When we checked in we were "upgraded" to a room with 2 beds and a kitchenette (if you can call it that). As it was just my husband and I it wasn't necessary, but the gentleman insisted we stay there.
We entered the room it was as if we had been struck in the face by a smoke pillow, the room smelt as though it was a smoke testing room and the smell seeped into our clothes.
The door handle was loose and giggled and also did not lock, the sliding chain lock wasn't even secured to the wall, so there was nothing to stop someone from entering our room.
The TV was probably the newest thing in the room, it had some sort of digital box but we honestly were to tiered to even try it out, it could very well have worked. I know our neighbor got it working as there is not insulation in between the rooms or any of the walls, and I listened to him watch 21 Jump street and Star Trek, as though we were watching it in our room. The semi's on the highway sounded as though our room was in the middle of the high way.
The "kitchenette" consisted of a mini fridge that was "knocking" all night was running really loud. A microwave and a coffee pot.
The bathroom sink was on the same counter as the "kitchenette", and towels were outside the bathroom, and seemed as though they had not been changed in some time. The bathroom door had 2cm of clearance of the toilet, upon opening the door. The toilet itself rocked and was not secure to the floor. The floor in the bathroom was sloped towards the wall separating the bedroom and bathroom and was bubbled. The shower head was calcium covered and sprayed erratically, there was also mold in the corners of the enter room. The paint and silicone was peeling off the walls. In addition there was also dried blood on the toilet paper roll.
The bedding was standard hotel/motel bedspread covering, the blanket; which was slightly thicker than a sheet and was pock marked with cigarette burns. The pillows were flat and seemed to just be pillow cases stuffed with another bed sheet. The sheets were by far the most disturbing thing, as there were stains on the sheets and were not changed, there were unknown stains on them and I do not want to imagine what the stains were.
If you have to stop in Fox Creek, and cannot drive any further as I couldn't; your truly are better off sleeping in your car.
- Nasdel (10/5): New rooms were excellent - I just stayed for a week and the new rooms were really well done. The owner just took it over and is really trying to make the place nice again. The wifi was fast and they had big flat screen TV in my room. I stayed in a kitchenette and I could tell the stovetop was brand new. I am definitely staying here again the next time work sends me here and wish the new owners all the best.
- nassreinh (10/5): Cozy Motel - I stayed in January 2016 for a few days. My room was a kitchenette with two beds, and it was quite spacious but still felt very safe and homey. The staff was friendly and my room was clean. It's a short walk to the grocery store, very convenient location.
- lornaw983 (2/5): poor customer sevice disgusting filthy rooms - the first room we were unable to unlock the door to even get in. When we went to get help the fellow seemed not to care in the least and when I mentioned the poor first impression I had I was told not to YELL and that he only worked there. He finally gave us another room and when we went to watch TV the remote didn't work. To me it seemed that no maintaince had been done nor did they intend to do any. The bathroom sink had a layer of soap scum in it. The tub drain was partially plugged and the tub nearly overflowed when taking a shower. We Tried to get our money back but because we had "used " the room we were refused.
- 940katb (8/5): Great price - I found the facilities and the customer service amazing considering the price. The place is decent and well kept although it seemed shabby at first. The motel is old but I could tell as well that the owners are maintaining the place well by renewing needed areas and providing excellent customer service. They asked if we were comfortable and made sure we had everything we needed. The motel's location was good too since it was close to downtown. Had a good stay for an affordable price.
- 716alicep (8/5): Satisfied - Pretty good for the price. They upgraded my room for me with no charge and I found the room clean. They had brand new bed sheets which I appreciated as I tend to be picky about where I sleep. I noticed the place going under some remodeling when I was there. I could see that the current owners are putting effort into taking good care of the place. Had a surprisingly pleasant stay here and would come again.
- 925reneec (4/5): An older place in need of some love - The new owners of the Alaskan Motel in Fox Creek are sure trying hard to make a go of the place. It's shabby but clean. The rate of $75 for the night plus tax means you can overlook a few things.
The gal on the front desk bent over backwards to ensure I had everything and felt secure. Everything is shabby except for the sheets, they are brand new! With the economy the way it is and all of the brand new chain hotels that have sprung up, I cannot imagine it is easy for this hotelier. If the parking lot wasn't so dirty, I'd have given them a three out of 5 simply because of the willingness of the owner to help and be in service to her customer.
- 365leannel (6/5): Not too bad for the price. - The current owners aim to please. Its older needs to be updated. Theres kitchenette available. Fridges and microwaves in every room. It's within walking distance of downton. The restaurant next door is open at 5:00 am.
- GoblinXIV (4/5): Not worth it - I really enjoy small old worn independent hotel/motels but this is probably the first time I've been scared to take my shoes off the carpet is so grimy, the dead bugs and burnt out bulb in the light fixture lend a certain ambiance I can do without. Broken baseboard heaters, crusted sink with a dead spider I really can't think of a positive about the place other than its a smoking room and the old wrinkled sheets seem clean.
- m25can (8/5): Home away from home - Stayed for two weeks with the crew and had 3 rooms. Would have gave 5 stars but my soya sauce went missing the first week and showed up mysteriously the following week. Also the two large oven burners did not work. Loved the snowy tv as it matched the weather and appreciated the ( free of charge) electric heater as it kept the frost off of the walls. Housekeeping kept up well and the place was picked up daily. Will stay again.
- brianb794 (6/5): A good port in the storm - The people are the key, cheerful and friendly.
This is an average motel, clean and warm after turning up the thermostat.
The Alaskan is located on the service road near highway 43 and easy to get to.
The operators went out of their way to make coffee available in the morning.
