Guest Reviews
- Janice (6/5): Ideal room for a single person on an overnight stay in the heart of Galashiels. - Absolutely perfect location if arriving by bus or train to Galashiels! For this reason alone I would book again! Malcolm is proactive in his communication. He gives good ,local advice based on your likes and dislikes. As a lone ,female visitor who was only there for one night, I felt safe and comfortable. Not so much a “didn’t like “, more a preference in that next time I visit, I Smight go for an en-suite rather than the shared bathroom!
- Steen (10/5): -
- Amanda (8/5): Great one night stay - - The location was very convenient, in front of the train station, near shops, easy quick walk to the High Street
- Malcom was an excellent host, providing all the information needed for a good stay and even recommending a lovely restaurant based on my food preferences
- I stayed in a room that shared a bathroom with another room, but I had a sink in my own room, which was very convenient!
I needed a one night stay so that I could join a music workshop near Galashiels the next morning. Monorene guest house worked very well for me! - The area can be a bit noisy, due to the proximity to the road and train station, but I had noise cancelling ear plugs with me and slept very well
- I stayed in a twin room, by myself. I could notice that one of the beds was not comfortable and made noises. I could then sleep on the other bed, so no issues. But if I was with another person this would definitely not be ideal
- Manuel Coronado (7/5): - La situación junto a la estación de tren y autobuses
- vanessa (10/5): Excellent stay for my employees, clean and tidy would recommend -
- Nina Angella (10/5): - Property is very accessible to transportation around the town of Galashiels
- Sharon (7/5): - Central, near facilities and parking available.
- vanessa (10/5): Excellent stay for my employees, clean and tidy would recommend -
- vanessa (10/5): Excellent stay for my employees, clean and tidy would recommend -
- Susan (7/5): Overnight Stay. - Very close to railway station & centre of town.
Ability to leave luggage on early arrival & late check out.
Local knowledge of places to eat & things to do in Gala. Just what we needed for an over night stay.
- Sari (9/5): Old fashioned charm with convenient location. - Despite being right beside the train and bus depot it was surprisingly quiet. The style of the room was quaint and cozy. My host was very friendly and offered a number of helpful suggestions regarding food options. I didn’t notice any green space around, if you wanted to sit outside it was basically a table and chairs on a concrete slab.
- Ian (5/5): Just about ok - Friendly owner and central location and bike storage. Tiny room apportioned to me when all other rooms were unoccupied! Tv didnt work, i wanted to watch the snooker final
- Brandon (5/5): - The gentleman was lovely and polite The price could be lowered i believe in my opinion and thats mainly just because yeah you get a bed for the night but with it being a b n b and not having breakfast in morning I feel like the cost should be lowered because your only getting half of a b n b does
- Vee (7/5): -
- Katy (10/5): Perfect for our stay no issues very happy with our room and bathroom slept well - This was perfect for what we needed a bit dated but comfortable and warm, greeted by owner who is lovely as it was an old building you could smell damp on the stairwell
- Iqbal (7/5): - Silence
- Mat (7/5): -
- Gordon (2/5): Don't stay here! - Nothing! Tiny room could touch both walls without a stretch
Shared bathroom
- Barry (6/5): -
- Sue (8/5): Great for a good nights sleep . - Perfect location for the train .
Old fashioned decor but room was clean bed was very comfortable. I had a great nights sleep . Could do with decor update however it was perfectly serviceable.
- Rachel (8/5): -
- Alan (10/5): -
- Dave (9/5): - The location, it was on the A7 which we used the day after our stay, also it was a stones throw from the centre of town for everything. If we'd needed the train to Edinburgh it was just across the road
- Neil (6/5): - Close to gig Shower not brilliant
- Martin (4/5): The friendliest of welcomes, good location for MAC Arts, alright for an overnight stay - The lady who greeted us was so lovely, very friendly, very helpful Beds, shared bathroom, lack of plug sockets, small car park, could only take 4 cars and there’s 6 rooms
- nicholas (8/5): - I was here for work, good central location. Staff member / owner was super friendly, checking in the evenings making sure everything was ok Nothing to dislike, really
- David (10/5): -
- McNair (9/5): All said - Great value & location. Very clean. Very friendly owner. Nothimg.
- Andrew (7/5): - Clean and good condition. Slightly uncomfortable bed.
- Ben (8/5): -
- Joyce (4/5): -
- Kathryn (5/5): Easy location, basic, good night's sleep, but poor mattress. - It was basic, but was reasonable enough considering the price One thing that could be improved whilst not costing much is a topper for the mattress - or a new mattress. I slept on top of the duvet as the mattress was too uncomfortable.
- Peter (6/5): This accommodation was fine for a one night stay to break our journey. Galasheils is lovely. - Proprieter called us to make sure he knew when we were arriving and to tell us he might be out. We were delayed in arriving and we reaaly appreciated his kindness in taking the trouble to call.
Very easy to check in and out. The location is close to the centre of the town. We had twin beds, one of which was quite uncomfortable (not much of a matress, could feel the ironwork underneath.
- Richard (7/5): - Excellent location right next to the bus station and across the road from the train station, and 2 minutes walk from the main high street. Directly across the road is a large Home Bargains superstore. Also the owner stored my luggage on the day of departure.
- Dawn (10/5): Enjoyed comfort of bnb - Every thing good
- Colin (9/5): -
- Lewis (8/5): - Location
- julie (10/5): - Lovely hosts , easy check in .
Comfortable beds .
- Carole (4/5): I was very happy to leave. - Location Didn’t see anybody apart from the cleaner.
Very dated.

- Nicky (7/5): Just what I needed and expected. - Malcolm very helpful and informative. Helpful to be able to keep the car there whilst visiting the tapestry. Really well placed for the town. I had not read the details so thought breakfast was included. However, it wasn't an issue as there were loads of places to have breakfast in easy walking distance.
- Ray (7/5): Comfortable accommodation and central location - Location Nowt
- alan (10/5): - I have stayed in this place for a number of times and it has always been a great little B and B guest house may it stay like it is for a good few years 😀😀😀😀😀😀. Mi
- Steven (5/5): -
- Kenneth (10/5): - Great host would defo visit again
- David (8/5): Apart from the faulty vanity lights, the guest house was ideal for a stay of 2 nights. - The location was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although we shared a bathroom with another room, the bathroom was always available when we needed it. The vanity lights above the mirrors in the bedroom and the bathroom did not work and could not be rectified during our stay.
- Christine (9/5): Would definitely stay again - Lovely homely Guest House, and great host. Very comfortable stay. I liked everything
- peter (2/5): If I could have foud somewhere else to stay, I would have checked out early - Location central to town centre. Plenty tea bags and coffee Cleanliness, value for money, tiny room with little space. Looks like it has never been cleaned, vanity light above mirror not working and covered in dust. Bathroom two half landings from room. Only 4 car parking spaces and no availability to park on one night. Rubbish bin not emptied for whole stay (3 nights) Plastic cup for rinsing after teeth clean.
Noise from railway station late evening/early morning
- Garny (7/5): bon rapport qualité prix - Très bon accueil et proximité de ka gare train et bus Vieux lits à ressort
- Gary (8/5): - Location and parking it’s not 4 or 5 star but its clean and comfortable No light came on on the stairs when leaving at 5-30 am so was a little dark walking down
- Peter (10/5): -
- Lorcan (7/5): Galashielis - Nice small guest house. Pity about the town absolutely no atmosphere 😕
- Ken (8/5): -
- lesley (8/5): Friendly host. Secure bike hire for cyclists. - Host was friendly and helpful Nothing
- Jenny Baker (8/5): - Excellent location close to train and bus stations, convenient for day trips to Edinburgh and to other border towns.
Room clean with ensuite bathroom.
Breakfast not available so went to Wetherspoons, not far away, but other cafés in town also serve breakfast.
- Stephen (8/5): - Friendly, informative host
- Greta lewis (10/5): -
- Ken (8/5): Great base to explore the Borders - Clean, comfortable, great location, great value simple accommodation.
- Angela (6/5): Für Durchreise für 1 Nacht okay - Sauberes Zimmer, freundlicher Vermieter Lage an Bahnhof und Durchangsstraße etwas laut.
Matratzen unbequem, da einzelne Federkerne vorstehen.
Etwas unangenehmer Geruch im Treppenhaus, Zimmer jedoch okay.
- Colin (8/5): -
- Matilde (10/5): -
- Vanessa (8/5): - Friendly hosts Shared bathroom and no breakfast
- Emery-Brown (8/5): - Excellent location and host very helpful
- Johannes (9/5): - Best possible location when needing to travel to Galashiels. Parking was provided. The room was clean. Noise from outside. People were over celebrating that ended in arguing and fighting. However, we have experienced worse in other locations.
- Blanc (8/5): -
- Franz (10/5): -
- Clarke (1/5): Dated, damp and mouldy - The host was very friendly The smell of damp hits you the moment you walk in. Several ceilings show signs of water leaking. Lots of mould in the bathroom in particular (window, ceiling and shower). Shower releases constant black specks, unsure if it's from a water tank or shower head.
Carpets, beds etc all reminiscent of a care home.
The place is up for sale, so hopefully someone has deep enough pockets to buy the place and completely renovate it.
- Paul (10/5): An excellent, enjoyable experience, with very friendly and helpful hosts - The owner was very helpful. He contacted me by phone to confirm my arrival time and when I informed me that I was delayed due to my flight arriving late. He kept the accommodation available and made sure I could access the property at a late hour. The following days he provided me with excellent advice on where to eat and visit for the duration of my stay. I would repeat my booking. Nothing, everything was as described and the owners went beyond what they should have to ensure my stay was a success
- David Gillies (10/5): -
- Philip (8/5): Relaxed and welcoming. - Very friendly, great base for travel.
- Andy (10/5): -
- Bayne (9/5): - Great location, very comfortable and clean
- shellie (6/5): Good location with plenty of amenities. - On entering the property smelt very damp. I was greeted by the owner who was wearing pyjama bottoms and a dirty t-shirt. he apologised for his appearance but I do think if you are charging bed and breakfast prices you should be well presented when a guest arrives if it is during check-in times. The damp smell and the presentation of the owner. The property is up for sale so I guess this is reflected in the owners behaviour.
- THOMAS (8/5): -
- Frances (9/5): - Excellent location for visiting the area Nothing not too like
- Nick (8/5): A great place to stay. - Fantastic host. Shared bathroom, but no other option.
- Andrew (1/5): -
- Fikrim (8/5): Great - Good location
- Emma (8/5): Lovely comfortable stay. - The bedroom was very comfortable. It was fully equipped with tea, coffee etc. Extra pillows and blankets if you should need it. The en-suite was clean and spacious. It was located literally across the road from the train station which has good train times to Edinburgh. There was only a three parking spaces outside. This didn’t seem a lot for the size of the property.
- Chee Kong (7/5): -
- Smith (8/5): Great base and located close to Edinburgj - Really friendly owners, great location and comfortable room. Plus free parking. Nothing of note.
- Iain (10/5): Brilliant business, lovely couple! - Fantastic property, clean and tidy, with excellent hosts! Well done. Very central location, no frills, does what it says on the tin!
- Elaine (5/5): - Friendly Booked a b&b no breakfast provided
- Estrella (10/5): -
- OGBONNIA DAMIAN (9/5): -
