• Christian (10/5): A perfect stay. - The location of Kamisuwa Onsen Shinyu is wonderful. Our room oversaw Lake Suwa and we had easy access to the city. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional - and came with a card describing each item. A very nice idea. We really enjoyed the public bath and took advantage of the massage service the hotel offers. The bus tour for nightly viewing of cherry blossoms at at Takashima castles was a welcome additions, as was the tour to the local shrines. The room, besides overseeing the lake, was spacious and very nicely appointed. Hotel staff was friendly, always polite and helpful - very professional with a personal touch. We loved our stay. There was nothing we did not like. We felt welcome and appreciated.

• Wei Yi, Andy (9/5): Great views and bathhouse, but late checkout is expensive - The hotel is located just beside Lake Suwa, and has an amazing view of the lake. The public bath was fantastic and even had a sauna and cold bath. Food was great as well. Ample parking available. Check-out time was 10AM and late checkout fees were JPY7,700 per hour (and no flexibility for less than hour periods). Given that our arranged breakfast was 8:15AM and some time is required for packing, getting ready, using the toilet etc. - we felt incredibly rushed to check out and felt some frustration as we left the hotel. The staff had originally informed us that late checkout was JPY2,200 an hour, which was fine and reasonable, and we had planned to pay. However, we were later informed that it is actually JPY7,700 an hour; and that is too steep for a short extension.

The location was central to a lot of shops and restaurants, and the view was very attractive over the water. We booked a private onsen, that I would not recommend. There was no charm at all, and the paint was peeling from the walls. The public onsen in the hotel was very nice.

• Jania (10/5): prefect stay - We greeted by a helpful doorman and started our lovely stay, from very helpful receptionist to restaurant staffs. the facilities and the room are spotless clean with tasteful design, and the art pieces around the hotel. foods are excellent with a special little buffet for different pickles. Finally, we are so impressed with Ms Nakamura and Ms Yu. they both gave us a great help when we faced a problem to deal with the bus company. We're really appreciated for their patience and kindness.

• Ange (10/5): A stunning place to stay! Breathtakingly beautiful! - This ryokan is stunning - one of the nicest places we have ever stayed! The room was palatial and was furnished beautifully with gorgeous artworks and furniture. The layout of the room was stunning. We had a barrier free room with a private onsen and a lovely lounge area, overlooking Lake Suwa. The room was clean, quiet and a beautiful sanctuary. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast each morning which showcased local produce as did the kaiseki dinner which we enjoyed on our first night. Meals were taken in private dining rooms and staff proudly shared their knowledge of the fresh seasonal food. It was all amazing. We will definitely be back!

• Alice (8/5): Surprising gourmet experience - It was all about the food! Absolutely amazing evening meal and breakfast. The shared onsen was also very good. V nice kimonos in room. A big commercial hotel. Location right on very busy main road. Not what we had imagined! Also very over-heated. And paying for private onsen was a mistake as the shared ones were much nicer. Decor is quite kitsch but fun!

The menu is great if you’re trying to avoid Pork, and very minimal shellfish was present as well. The futons in the Japanese-style room were comfortable, and the room was very spacious. We arrived at the evening so we couldn't see it properly but had a great surprise when we woke up in the morning. Suwa was just a night stop for us, but hotel staff was great in recommending us what to eat and where to go in our very few hours. all was great

• Kevin (10/5): Perfect views of Lake Suwa and ideal for a relaxing night away from the city - This was an amazing experience. The staff could not have been more polite and enjoyable to interact with during our stay here. The facilities were likely the best we had in our stays in Japan thus far, being just the right temperature with amenities to match. Our expectations, which were already quite high given that this hotel is on the higher end in terms of price were exceeded. The only nitpick is that if you are not looking for it, you may miss the sign to turn into their parking area but that is on the driver and not the hotel.

• Hiroshi (6/5): 宿泊費が高い - 清潔、場所。ホテルの前の湖から花火が見えました。 値段が高い。ここまで高いので、さぞかし素晴らしい宿かと思ったらそうでもなかった。まず、女性には露天風呂はない。男性には、半露天風呂はあるが、一人しか入れない。膝を曲げて向かい合えば二人は入れるかも。ここまで強気な値段になる意味が分からない。食事は肉はおいしかったけど、他、最高というほどでもない。ホテルに大きな不満はないけど、値段が高過ぎです。要するに価格に見合ってないです。
• Naomi (9/5): 安すぎますよ。もっと高くても泊まりたいと思いました。最高の思い出になりました。 - 貸切風呂が良かったし、大浴場のかりんジュースやロビーのレモン水など美味しかった。特筆すべきは食事で、夕食朝食ともにとてもヘルシーで美味しかったです。器も素敵でした。接客も申し分なく、駐車場で誘導などをされている男性の対応もとても良かったです。お盆料金でしたけど、安過ぎると感じる程でした。また利用したいです。 フロントに誰も居ない事が度々あり、ベルなども無かった？ので、困りました。
