Guest Reviews
- kristina88 (10/5): Great Choice - I loved my stay here. No, it’s not a luxury hotel. Yes, it’s clean, affordable, and perfect if you are spending your time outside. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and they had AC (a must in Huatulco). Beyond that, the family that owns the hotel are so friendly and welcoming PLUS the restaurant has some of the best food you’ll have in Oaxaca. - Photo of food included below:)
- chadkona (10/5): GREAT place to stay in Huatulco - what an awesome place! super cool family who runs / owns it. the place is super clean and well maintained. simple, but very nice. close to the center (10 min walk or 2 min cab) and also good restuarnts near -- especially the hotel restaurant and agave the acai / poke bowl place. i cant reccomend this place enough! gracias to the familia :)
- JUANA MA (10/5): Excelente servicio y comida!
- davesandy2016 (10/5): Hands down the best restaurant in Huatulco. - We visited this restaurant during our stay in Feb 2020. The Posada Santa Clara turned into our favorite eatery as we kept coming back to it and never got disappointed. The food is world class and the service beyond comparison. The owners always greeted us kindly and our 2 regular waitresses (Marbella and Evelyn) went out of their way to make sure that we were well fed and happy. We are a gluten free family and were very grateful for the great lengths the staff went to prepare food that was free of gluten. So many traditional dishes to choose from, all exquisite but if you decide to splurge ask for the clay chicken (needs to be ordered ahead of time so phone ahead). It was one of the best chicken dishes we have ever eaten, juicy, flavorful and a real treat.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The host clearly did not like our wish to look at the room.
Wanted to place us in a smaller room than booked!
How this property rated "Superb 9.2" !!!???????
The building is o l d, shower & toilet stink.
The door of the room shines through, the handle crunches.
Parking was a messy backyard.
+ Bed linen and towels were clean and floor were clean.
!!! the feedback should be real- i booked it by rating "Superb 9.2" as well.
"4.0" the most!
- Peter (10/5): Great Family Run Hotel at Reasonable Prices - We stayed for a week vacation at this family run establishment. They did not speak English but treated us like family and by the end of the week we felt like we were family. The accommodations were a bit sparse(more like a Motel 6 than a Hyatt) but the Satellite TV, AC worked great and service very responsive. The family's restaurant is frequented by the locals and is great quality with many traditional dishes at reasonable prices. Be sure to try the Chili Relleno or Clay Wrapped Chicken(which must be ordered 24 hours in advance).
- b2run (10/5): Extremely helpful - This hotel is on a quiet street parallel with a main street. A 100 metres away is a supermarket and there is a ATM close . It is walking distance to the bus terminal. Mario was extremely helpful. The restaurant serves excellent food. The AC is weak but keeps it comfortable. The internet is spotty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super helpful staff. It's close to a supermarket, ATM, and a 15 minute walk to the bus station. The internet and AC are weak. The restaurant has delicious food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was so very welcoming and helpful
Restaurant was good food
- Tost (10/5): A must to try local cuisine - Excellent food, one of my fave places to eat when in Huatulco. The signature dish is amazing and is a must-try for local cuisine at its finest. I have added this gem to my must-go places when in town. I cannot want for April when we will be able to come back.
- Patrick/Yvonne (10/5): - The two owners could not have been nicer or more helpful. They both went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, put us in touch with relevant tours and when our laptop contracted a virus they found a very good technician who was able to fix it.
- Jane (10/5): Lovely family-owned hotel - We loved this family run hotel. We especially liked the fact that it was a short walk away from the zocalo making it a quiet and enjoyable place to stay! Attached to the hotel was their restaurant! Excellent food and very popular with locals. We would certainly stay her again if we find ourselves back in town.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Within minutes of checking in, I was ready to check out. It would have been better to bite the bullet and pay for another place. The room was like a dungeon with one dim light (we had to use our headlamps to read). They say they have hot water in the postage-stamp size bathroom, but they don't. I braved it once to rinse off, my partner couldn't do it. They provided one drinking glass for the two of us and they were the only place I've ever stayed in Mexico that provided NO safe drinking water in the room. A big reason we didn't check out was that the wifi was so bad that we couldn't search for other places. Never again!!!
- 256190 (8/5): Excellant food at this tiny posada - This place was recommended to us on more than one occasion and we finally found it tucked away a block off the main blvd. into crucecita.
Shaded under a large palapa roof with fans moving the air it was comfortable even in the heat of mid afternoon. Do not worry about the small playground attached to the eating area, children here are quiet and well looked after.
The pescado al ajo is an excellent choice , cooked perfectly.
Onion soup with mild white onions and a little cheese has delicious broth.
Both the flan and fried bananas are perfect for dessert.
The service was great with lots of smiles.
He menu has a fair number of choices and is low to mid range in price.
- Stuartessaouira (10/5): Family business - Very comfortable, clean, quiet room with A/C and ceiling fan. Good shower.
WiFi a bit up and down.
Staff in hotel and restaurant were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast system a bit confusing at times!
Great food in restaurant.
- Sailorgal12345 (10/5): Excellent home cooked Mexican food - We’ve been enjoying beautiful Huatulco for years and have enjoyed the food at Posada Santa Clara during many of those visits. It’s tucked away on a quiet street. Very safe, like all of Huatulco. You always see Grandma & the extended family there. We were once there for Grandma’s birthday. What a party! There are so many tempting choices on their menu that it can be hard to choose. The menu is in English & Spanish. Our waitress spoke very good English. Chili rellanos are one of my favourite local dishes. I ordered cheese & my partner ordered ‘mixto,’ cheese & chicken. They had removed the seeds from the poblano peppers. Hadn’t expected that! With a side of rice, tortillas & salsa, what a feast! They made one of the best margaritas we’ve had here. This is very reasonably priced food done very well.
- Barbie022 (10/5): 😊Excellente😊 - My husband & I Love this Restaurante! The chili rellenos are authentic as well as the Chile’s en nogada.. delicious💥💥 The spinach salad was huge.. enough for 2 people to share🌴 Excellent service & super clean..we just keep going back!😊🥰
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I spent one week at Posada Santa Clara and very much enjoyed my stay. The family owning the place are warm people and their staff courteous and friendly. The place is clean and well located walking distance to the beach and shipping area. It was also nice to have a restaurant in the Posada. I would highly recommend.
- acgltd1985 (10/5): 3 Month stay became a Home away from Home - Looking for a home away from home that’s centrally located in La Crucecita is close to the Huatulco beaches and is reasonably priced. Look no further than Posada Santa Clara this property is impeccably clean, provides excellent Mexican cuisine and Dona Carolina and family understand hospitality and the business of being the perfect hosts.
- Monumentlady (10/5): Lucky to have found them - It’s too long of a story to tell but I had to switch hotels because the hotel i was staying in had no availability for the weekend. I made a reservation on line and everything was perfect from the minute I arrived. Staff is wonderful and very caring. Whatever you need during your stay, they will make life easy for you. No pool, but you can take a taxi to any of the beaches located very close.
- Blanca (10/5): Great family owned hotel! - Great place to stay! A family owned business, near shopping stores, Friendly staff, great place to eat on site, Will definitely recommend it. Thanks Jaime and Mario, they greeted us every day and made sure we had a pleasant stay!
- funfamily5 (6/5): Hidden gem restaurant in a budget friendly hotel - Although not in the center of town it is well worth the short walk/cab over for some of the best Oaxacan meals we had on our whole trip! Carolina and her staff make everyone feel so welcome and the food is amazing in a charming atmosphere. Highly recommended even if you are not staying at the hotel you will be happy dining there. If you are traveling with children, the restaurant also has a cute little playground in sight of the tables.

- Christina (10/5): Exceptional hotel and restaurant! - Exceptionally well-run hotel! Warm, welcoming, professional staff. Less than ten minute walk to city center and close to beaches. Excellent restaurant is part of the hotel. We not only recommend this to anybody but we'll be back ourselves!
- P5972UBpaulac (10/5): This is a great place to stay! - I have a long story but here goes...I got sick on a sailboat and ended up staying here nearly a month. We stayed in three of the 10 rooms and all three were grand. The beds are fantastic, very clean rooms and the staff is marvellous. There is a restaurant downstairs and the food is unbelievable! Even if you don't stay here come for the food. The place is family owned and they treated me and my family like we were theirs. They are lovely, warm people who speak very little English but we all became fast friends.
You can walk to anything from here and the taxis are close and very inexpensive.
