- haines (6/5): - Staff friendly and helpful. Great pillows. Room a bit old and needs a refurb. Bed needs replacing. Not very comfortable.
- Ian (8/5): A pleasant stay with my wife and dog for a couple of nights exploring the area. - Comfortable bed and dog friendly. Great breakfast and good size dinner portions. Olde Wrld building with great patio and garden area. Car parking spaces a little too narrow and short for modern cars. (Although plenty of spaces available.)
- David (7/5): Lovely area and fantastic staff - The staff were wonderful and welcoming, the Sunday roast was amazing . We were warned about the noise in the vermilion room but the room was literally shaking. We couldn't hear each other and yes it really spoiled the night. Despite being warned we felt it was underplayed.
- William (8/5): We had a relaxing pleasant stay - Delicious breakfast.
Delightful staff

- Neil (8/5): Lovely hotel, good food, good staff. I would come again. - Lovely period building with original features, very quaint. quiet - even though we were above the bar. 5 minutes from the lovely forest of Dean and Symonds Yat etc. A lovely breakfast and fantastic staff. Room a little tired, could have had more plug sockets for the modern world of charging devices etc. Shower could of had either a door/curtain or bigger screen to help prevent water getting on the floor.
- Jennifer (8/5): A lovely if noisy stay - The dinner service and setting were lovely, as were the staff. The bar is very noisy late into the night (beyond 23:00 by the time things finally fell quiet) and because of where my room was I was kept awake by the din.
- stephen (8/5): This is a reasonable hotel but decoratively a little tired. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good 8 - Great location , relatively comfortable I did not like the soap dispensers in the bathrooms. They were difficult to use and did not dispense enough soap.
- Declan (8/5): No problems - Staff Springy bed
- Warren (8/5): Enjoyable stay. Couple of minor issues but overall very good. - Location and easy parking. Lovely food. Friendly staff. Duvet was too high a tog. Boiled! Extractor fan in bathroom appeared to be permanently on.
- Neil (10/5): Great relaxing stay, looked after by the most a - Brilliant Tudor house, it was a greatexperience Nothing
- Maryann (10/5): -
- Nick (8/5): Old Court - Clean, nice staff, great breakfast. Nothing worth mentioning.
- Belinda (7/5): Last minute. Safe quiet pleasant stay in unique accommodation - Unique barn. Old stone main hotel full of character
Very friendly for dogs
Food was good. Huge portion of lamb ( couldn’t finish it) Would like to have been on the ground floor which I had presumed from the pictures
With a dog I’d prefer a side gate to walking round the entrance by the road
- Jackie (10/5): Chilled, relaxed and unforgettable - The fact that it’s a listed building and has so much character, quirky and different rooms and the gardens are amazing. Nothing to dislike.
- Trevor (10/5): Fantastic! - Excellent in every respect. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely building and room. Clean. Nice meal. Nice location. I even got an upgrade on my room. N/A
- Bendall (8/5): Very pleasant. - Room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was extra but good. Room and facilities were good but room was cold in the evening. Outlook was very good. Bed very comfortable. Some heating in the cold room.
- Corey (10/5): - Amazing dining room and very friendly staff
- Carl (8/5): -

- Chloe (10/5): Me and my partner booked a spontaneous weekend trip and found this beautiful hotel nothing shy of perfect. We got a room - Beautiful property, inside and out. Very clean and great facilities Nothing.
Mange ulike frokost blandinger i små porsjons-esker. små marmelade glass i ulike smaker. Perfekt porsjon til en skive ristet brød. Jeg har ikke noe dårlig å skrive. Her blei vi behandlet som viktige gjester alle sammen.
- Tracy (10/5): It was our 1 st wedding anniversary so wanted something nice and memorable - Our evening meals were lovely especially the steak and sticky toffee pudding, the room was lovely and the views Didn’t want to come home, such a lovely atmosphere

- Palmer (10/5): The best hotel I've stayed in, by far. Lovely staff, and a lovely location / building. - I liked the not only the history of the building, but also the layout. The room we stayed in was so clean, and gave me enough room to store our belongings. We got upgraded to a king room, which was a lovely suprise right from the start. We stayed in Gwillim, which was a gorgeous 16th century layout, and got given all the essentials needed within the room 😊.
All staff members were absolutely lovely during our stay, and we are most definitely going to come back soon for another stay, since we aren't too far away.
This place has been a special place for me, not only during my childhood, but also now, for my 20th birthday treat, and I'll definitely be coming back in years to come.
Thank you again for the room upgrade, the lovely dinner, breakfast, and everything in-between. This place is a gorgeous hotel, and I'll be reccomending all my friends and family to stay here too! Just like the slogan says! 😆.
We got served by a lovely desk lady, who gave us the room keys and helped us with any questions asked (sunday 12th) . We also got served by a lovely gentleman called callum, who was our server for dinner on sunday the 12th. And on the 13th, I got served breakfast by this lovely lady on the breakfast service (13th april)
The staff members are as lovely as the properly!
Most likely be seeing you all soon!
Thank you so much again,

- Lewis (7/5): Overall nice - Location is good, friendly and welcoming Room very small, food overpriced for the quality
- Anthony (8/5): Very good - Lovely Building. Great Staff. Parking spaces very small. However, there were plenty of them so parking not a problem and they did charge for it.
- Neil (10/5): -
- Lyn (10/5): The room was very clean and comfortable. Kevin and all the staff welcoming and helpful. Food and drink reasonably priced - The property itself was exactly as expected. Full of charm and character with lots of original features
- Henry (8/5): -
- Andrea (8/5): -
- Janet (9/5): Great place to stay. - We loved the welcome we received. Very helpful staff and the room was really cosy. We felt like we'd stepped back in time. Magnificent foyer and building. The shower tray wasn't draining very well, so I had to keep stopping the shower to let it drain otherwise it would have spilled over.
- Jane (10/5): Highly recomnent - The staff were exceptional. Friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Food was good. Room very clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money Stairs are quite steep and only gave handrail on one side. This is a problem to me as I only have limited use of one arm. But staff offered to carry my suitcase up ( even offered to get it from car fir me)
- Scuba do (10/5): Great people, great setting. - Every member of staff was exceptional, warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They even called ahead to check whether I’d like any food set aside, as I was due to arrive late after the kitchen had closed, which was a very thoughtful touch. The building itself, along with the bar and dining areas, is beautiful and full of charm, making it a really lovely place to spend time. The only minor point worth mentioning is that I could occasionally hear a little movement from other guests in the corridor or nearby rooms. It certainly wasn’t a major issue and didn’t detract from the overall experience, but it’s the only small thing I noticed. Overall, the hospitality, character of the building, and atmosphere far outweighed this, and I would happily stay again.
- Clapham (9/5): Great stay, good value and staff team made all the difference - Clean, interesting, great food and friendly, competent and engaging staff. They cared!
- Karen (10/5): - Everything Nothing

- Jo-Ann (10/5): Can’t wait to go back! - The location is great very quiet and the building itself is beautiful. Nothing at all
- Tim (10/5): -
- john (10/5): Excellent will definitely book again - Facilities and location Nothing
- Sean (7/5): -
- sharon (5/5): It was ok but wouldn’t stay again - Staff were friendly Bedroom was very small
- Kirby (8/5): - Location brilliant and gardens very pretty. Realise we were above the storage area for deliveries very early in the morning but apart from that it was lovely
- Victoria (9/5): -
- Jon (10/5): Delight from the Jaws of Dismay. - First rate experience - Full marks all at Old Court. (No Marks for Booking.com!)
Staff at Old Court dealt extremely well with a rather irritated traveller who, having done battle with motorway queues to the extent he could not reach his intended destination, came up against booking.com's best AI attempts to compound matters - they make it almost impossible to touch base with a humanoid to correct booking duplication errors on their system.
Old Court staff could not have been more helpful diffusing said irritated traveller, helping him to unravel the computer-generated chaos. I'm sure they had better things to do at such an unearthly hour, but they were too professional for me to notice.
The cold Guinness in a tranquil garden helped my red mist subside too! Thanks All. Booking.com!!
- Martin (6/5): Great location - The room The food, mainly the breakfast great
- Jason (10/5): -
- Cooke (9/5): -
- L (8/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): We found it a relaxing place to visit with good outdoor areas when the weather is better. - Good location, friendly welcoming staff. Clean room with a nice en-suite and facilities. Lack of lounge/informal gathering area
- Dawn (9/5): Lovely characterful hotel with lovely food and friendly staff. - A lovely hotel with lots of character. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Excellent food in the restaurant. Some noise could be heard from the bar and reception which were under our room. It was generally quiet between 11pm and 7am.
- Julie (7/5): - The location was lovely. The front door is extremely heavy and I struggled to open it.
- Penny (5/5): Mixed ! - Location to walks on Wye River . The food was excellent and the staff very friendly . The Tudor dining hall was unique and there is amazing history associated with the property. The bed ( a king size ) was old and sagged away on both sides. It was two singles tied together and the best part of the bed was on this seam . Some maintenance is also needed eg the entry was through a puddle then a partly broken door... not what I would expect given the tariff and advertising .
- Darren (4/5): Dirty , damp , and outdated , will not return -
- Sue (8/5): Lovely place to stay - Lovely hotel, our room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the service was great. I would definitely recommend staying here.
- andrew (10/5): - Staff were excellent
- Tom (9/5): Ideal room , a top rate , well served meal,a couple of beers On a cold wet night , - It was just what I needed for the one night . I don’t really look for negatives
- Harrison (8/5): Lovely place full of history and very cosy - staff were brilliant, well done - Didn't eat there Nothing apart from the weather
- Stephen (8/5): Enjoy - The look of the building Bedroom could do with a little modernisation
- Potter (1/5): Locked out - Beautiful place !! Needed more time to get I'mii
- William (10/5): Great staff, settings and atmosphere. - Whole experience.
- Stephen (8/5): -
- alan (3/5): Could be a lovely place but lacking in investment, absolutely disgusting quality food. - Nothing Everything , lovely building deeply disappointing
- Eric (9/5): Warm and friendly - A small problem with the bill was instantly remedied when I raised it. Very quickly and efficiently sorted. Well done.
- Debbie (8/5): Fabulous - It was a beautiful property and especially liked sitting next to the log burner. The location was amazing and the staff friendly and helpful The only thing I didn’t like were the bathroom taps were so noisy and I felt I would wake up next door if I needed to use the taps at night.
- Sandra (10/5): Great place to stay - A beautiful building in beautiful surroundings
The beds were amazingly comfortable with super bedding
Try and book a balcony room, the views were fab
- Chris (9/5): Fantastic stay - Dinner was superb and the service was excellent Check out time of 10.30 seems early
- Gerard (10/5): Staff made the stay even more special - The hotel and food were excellent, it’s a shame that booking.com didn’t offer a free breakfast anywhere on their site. If I’d rang the hotel direct, I would’ve had breakfast including in the price. Lesson learned maybe about contacting the hotel direct in future. Staff were excellent. Emma and Bella went out of their way after a disastrous day out. They made sure that we were well looked after in the evening.
- Steve (9/5): -
- Deborah (5/5): Lovely Staff but needs some work! - Staff were lovely! Breakfast menu catered for everyone. The whole hotel was tired and needs a spruce up! The pictures on the site didnot reflect what the room looked it. There was no warmth and the rooms looked and felt cold. My mother found the bedroom floor difficult as it was very uneven. Not a hotel for the elderly!
- Katrina (9/5): Just lovely! - Loved the character of this charming place! Loved the age and the quirky nature of the whole place. The room was very clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The food was lovely. Gardens were pretty and well tended. We will return!
- Jorge (10/5): Lovely Tudor Court - I liked the location, the warmth welcome, the menu, our bedroom and facilities. I really enjoyed. No dislikes
- adrian (10/5): -
- Joel (9/5): -
- Katherine (9/5): Friendly welcome, comfortable room, would visit again - Warm friendly helpful welcome from staff Na
- Anna (9/5): -
- david (9/5): - Lovely hotel set in lovely gardens, very quiet and relaxing stay. Food was good. Room very small
- Annabel (5/5): -
- Jilly (10/5): Great break - hope to come back another time - The staff were all very friendly and helpful It was perfect
- Liana (1/5): - Comfortable bed While staying at the property they let themselves into the room without asking
I couldn't bath my 12 week old baby as when I filled the bath up the water was escaping down the plug hole and the water wasn't getting warm
On the website it says pets are welcome but it doesnt say you have to pay until you arrive at the hotel.
Floors were uneven
- Peter (7/5): -
- Deborah (7/5): Pleasant setting - Hotel is in a pleasant setting with a large garden. It was the location that drew me to the hotel as it was near where I was visiting friends. The room was in need of a spruce up, re paintwork etc.
- Tony (8/5): -
- Ferguson (1/5): Disrespectful racists - Nothing Rude staff genna the duty manager prevented me from leaving by baracading herself in my car door i just wanted to get out the place after the disrespectful racism and because im south african , they had me in tears 3 times and I had a panic attack. Jono the owner kept threatening me and told me to Fuck off! never again . Bella the receptionist treated me so rudely from the moment I checked in. Was there for 2 hours and I couldn't take it anymore
- Julia (8/5): Cosy, comfortable, full of ambience with lovely garden, great restaurant and friendly staff. - Really enjoyed our stay in this old hotel full of character. The bar and restaurant were excellent, serving food all day. Nice garden, big breakfast and close to beautiful walks. Staff were very friendly and there was a warm ambience. My room was cosy and comfortable - ideal for 1 person. Would be a little small for 2, but still fine for a short stay.
