Guest Reviews
- Lynn (10/5): - Room was clean and quiet. Loved having a ceiling fan in the room.
- Heather (10/5): - LeaAnne was awesome!! Its a cozy cute motel!!
- Gary (10/5): - An older motel, but maintained with loving care. We always try to avoid the big chains and stay at the family owned motels, and this one was perfect, The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
- Renee (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay, clean rooms and quiet, very comfortable, would stay here again so nice.
- Roger (10/5): - Very clean, well-kept property.
- LeAnn (10/5): - Excellent service. Clean and quiet location. Lea Ann reached out to us as we were arriving late to arrange contactless registration. Whew! We had forgotten to do that….saved us from disaster! I would stay here again. Always appreciate local ownership.
- Mary (10/5): - The owners were so nice and keep the place well kept. I liked having a code for my door instead of keeping up with key cards and that my room had a ceiling fan, not just an air conditioner. Lovely little place, will definitely be back.
- Jerry (8/5): - Nice people that run a respectable hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good place to stay for the price. - For the price, not a bad place to stay. It's clean, room is spacious, refrigerator and microwave in working order. The service is friendly, but only available up to 7 or 8pm, so you need to make arrangements for check in before that. Electric outlets are limited, so if you have a lot of electronic devices it may be a problem.
- Matthew (10/5): Amazing blast from the past with great service too - We absolutely loved the vibe of this hotel. If keeping the 50's 60's 70's theme and atmosphere was your goal then you nailed it. Extremely well maintained throughout. Reasonably priced and convenient. Womever owns and or operates it does an amazing job. From the very friendly check in gentlemen to the very friendly & pleasant housekeeper we met in the morning. We will definitely return for future visits with family!
- Jim (8/5): - I appreciated that Lea Ann had a bucket of ice in my refrigerator upon my midnight arrival. Nice touch.
- pamela (10/5): - I booked this room because it was pet friendly while we were in Hagerstown for a family reunion. As it turned out I and the dog were not able to attend. My husband stayed there and he said he liked it a lot and we would stay there the next time we traveled through with our
dog.
- Gregory (10/5): - Very nicely redone interior bathroom had green tile from when the hotel was built
- Leslie Martin (10/5): Mid-Century Americana at its best - Beds, decor and staff were excellent. Room service each day was an unexpected pleasure. Go, stay, and bask in Mid-Century comfort.
- John (10/5): - Old motel in very good condition; lots of area to walk around the property. Friendly staff, comfortable room, good bargain.
- Leanne (8/5): - It is decent, clean, quiet and staff is friendly
- Jennifer (10/5): - It was a great stay. It was very clean and VERY quiet. Check in was easy.
- TERRY (10/5): - The owners are great and go out of their way to make sure we are comfortable. An older property but clean and convenient for us.
- Phillip (8/5): Home away from Home - Friendly staff, very clean and quiet room, great bed and I slept like a rock. I will definitely make this my designation should I ever return to this location in the future.
- Anthony (10/5): - We are coffee drinkers and As with some other stays that we did was the lack of a coffee maker in our room. Other than that this little motel was top notch!!
- Neil (8/5): - Nice room. Shower was just a bit small, but that's to be expected for a facility of that era.
- Marie (8/5): - Old-school in a good way. Very clean. Excellent bed. Microwave and fridge in the room. Simple contactless after-hours check-in. You do hear some highway noise from Rte. 40 but we would stay here again.
- Shilpi (10/5): Cute little inn - It was a nice old time inn. The room was spacious, TV had a lot of channels, there was a grass patch to take the dog out. The bathroom was a bit outdated but shower was hot and had good water pressure. Very good value for money.
- anthony (10/5): - Nice quiet place to stay
- John (10/5): - Extremely friendly staff. Very clean room. Parking in front of door makes it very easy to unload and load. Electronic lock makes it very easy to check out. This was my second time staying here, and I would definitely do it again if passing through this area.
- Kristy (10/5): - Very retro but very well maintained. Clean and the staff was amazing! Thank you!
- Emma (10/5): - Unique place that was great quality for the price. A lot of grassy area to walk my dog around.
- David (10/5): - Very exceptional in a small area very quiet and well maintained. Stayed 2 nights here and have had 0 issues. Will come back in the near future.
- Kevin (10/5): Great property - I love room decoration, awesome. Mom and Pop place and owners goes the extra mile. Highly recommend this property. Thanks
- Larry (10/5): - A step back in time.
- Phil (10/5): Vintage fun - Super cute little roadside motel, much of it felt like it was vintage and straight out of the '70s. It was a delightful stop and we would stay there again
- Brian (6/5): 2 stars maybe - This is a throwback to the 1950’s roadside motel. Decorations were 1970’s but paint, windows, were definitely 1950’s. Quiet place and the innkeeper was very friendly. I wouldn’t call it rundown but definitely out of date.
- Tonia (2/5): - Big ordeal with ordering through website got there and couldn’t charge wife’s card that held and reserved the room got there from out of town and wife couldn’t pay for room over phone or internet. Cash only. That should be told. I was stranded or came up with cash for front desk. Then the room was full of elder bugs
- Carl (10/5): A must visit hotel - The decor was a little dated but that actually added to the charm. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The owners make you feel like you are family when you arrive. I’m looking forward to my next stay.
- Karen (10/5): Perfect quaint hotel in a country setting. - My boyfriend and I were traveling across country from South Dakota to back East and needed a safe place to stay. We found this hidden gem while searching our route we were taking. It’s just off highway 70 and on highway 40. It was such a peaceful clean hotel. The owners were super sweet. The room was very clean. We were traveling with our 10 year old cat and up to this point she was hiding. It was so peaceful, she actually slept in bed with us. Across the street is a farm market with very tasty donuts. Just up the road in town we had an excellent dinner at the Red Front Inn. There’s also a dollar general nearby. We loved this quaint town and all the people in it were very nice. We even saw a few Amish horse and buggies. We walked the side of the property to an area with trees and a stream. We really enjoyed our stay here and if we are ever passing through again, we would not hesitate to stay here. We would choose this small motel over a big chain any day. It was wonderful waking up to birds singing and not noisy neighbors. Thanks for making our long journey more enjoyable. Oh and they have a binder in the room that tells some really cool history about the area as well as about the motel. I give them 5 stars! We couldn’t have had a better stay. I’m including a picture of the sunset we sat out front and watched.
- Stephen (8/5): - Staff are friendly and truly care about their guests experience.
- WIlliam (10/5): - The property is older, however, it was clean, in good repair, and the price was right. The host, Leeann, was very sweet. I'll stay there again.
- Susan (10/5): - This motel has a somewhat retro bathroom. Has a 70's vibe. Room clean, very nice proprietor. I love staying here & the price is right!
- sheryl (10/5): - Clean, convenient, cozy.
- Bob (8/5): - Nice older motel. Very well kept with very nice staff.
- Dennis (10/5): My night stay was golden. - I loved this place, very nice room clean. Very friendly. Very Quiet but close to everything.
- Marcella (10/5): - I've always wanted to stay in an older motel with the vintage tile bathrooms. This one has the cutest pink salmon tile. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. The flowers planted outside are beautiful and the hummingbirds frequent the feeders. I like that the doors do not directly face the outside, it makes the room quieter. When we visited the fruit trees had apples and peaches on them. The owner said I could try a few apples and they were delicious. There's also a lot of birds to watch up near the old fountain. The fountain doesn't work anymore, or wasn't running when we visited. It would make an excellent flower bed.
- Kevin (10/5): - The motel was probably built in the 1950’s but both the inside and outside had been maintained very well. The room and bathroom were extremely clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Livia (10/5): - If you are looking for a modern place with tons of amenities - keep driving. BUT if you are wanting an immaculately clean room with a huge yard for your puppies, book it! Vintage charm and a proprietor who goes beyond to make certain your stay is comfortable. For a light bite, there is a donut shop across the road. More heartier breakfast can be had at nearby Iron Skillet or Cracker Barrel. When in the area, I won’t stay anywhere else.
- 456sallye (10/5): Worth the effort to get to! - Our room was clean and comfortable, the owners are very friendly and helpful. The Golden Inn is a little off of the beaten path but well worth the effort to get there. Located in a quiet rural area, it's still close to local attractions. We'd stay here again!
- donna (10/5): Clean, Quiet and Retro. - This Inn was spacious, clean and comfortable. It is an old hotel that has owned and maintained this property for 40 Years. The bed gave us a good nights sleep. No doors slamming and very quiet. We stayed here because it was pet friendly. We would stay here again if in the area. Thank you to our hosts who do a great job of maintaining this older hotel.
- Debra (10/5): - I liked that this was an old fashioned motel, not like the sterile chain motels. The room was cute and clean. I was able to park right in front of my room. The check in was fast and friendly. I highly recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff is great and the bed was comfortable. The room is big but the furniture is old and the bathroom could be cleaner
- Charlene (8/5): - It was quaint and clean but needs a bit of work. Landscaping needed work but you could tell it was lovely at one time. The owner was very nice.
- Rena (10/5): Great customer service - Great customer service and very clean. It is an older building.
- Rory (10/5): - Very nice motel, would definitely stay there again!!
- Jan (2/5): Never again! - Super time bathroom and shower stall was a joke. No electrical outlets except in bathroom, no coffee in room OR office. TP was like tissue paper..had to use 3 times as much. Office closes very early, have to call for code. Very disappointed.
- Charles (10/5): - This place is a classic older property that the owners obviously take great pride in. And the personal customer service is great.
- Phil (10/5): - The place is run by an older couple who know what they are doing and do it really well. If I could have given them 6 stars I would have.
Hint- go to the Iron Skillet just down the road for a really good breakfast
- Phillip (10/5): - Such a nice change from chain hotels. Many nice touches like flowers and hummingbird feeders outside the door. Clean and quiet. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.
- Dan (10/5): - Loved this place--old school motel (think Raylan Givens' place in Justified) that was run by sweet lady with style. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. Can't wait to stay again!
Oh, and the price was very inexpensive; don't let it scare you off. In this case, cheap meant "bargain", not crappy."
- Trish (10/5): - LeaAnn was very pleasant…easy to checkin after hours…clean room…quiet area
- John (10/5): What a Gem! - The Golden Inn is a wonderful motel. There’s nothing fancy or cutting edge, but it’s clean, comfortable and incredibly well cared for. The owners are wonderful and cleanly take great pride in the establishment. The grounds are beautiful with hummingbird feeders and flowers, and the farm stand across the road has great coffee and doughnuts! I’ll go out of my way to come back.
- Candace (10/5): Great quiet small hotel - Very nice quaint hidden hotel. No truckers!! It was very clean & very quiet!! We will be back!!
- Sue Watlov (10/5): - Great place to stay. Beautiful woods garden to walk through after a long day of travel
- Russell (6/5): Back to the Future - The staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The price was very budget friendly. The room was clean and well maintained however very dated in all regards. The bed was comfortable enough but it was as tho we time warped to 1960. The motel is a very good value for the room cost but your expectation should be to think retro.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Very nice an clean!! Very very nice people!! Will stop an that hotel again
- Candace (10/5): Quaint and Comfortable - The establishment was cute and had a retro vibe - not fancy, but very accommodating. We were able to check in over the phone due to our late arrival, and the staff was fantastic. The room was very clean and with basic amenities. Perfectly functional and quaint.
- Michele (10/5): Nice, clean and comfy vintage motel - Very cool vintage motel. Very clean and had everything we needed for a short overnight stay. The owner even left us a handwritten note that she had put ice in the freezer for us.
- Jeffery (10/5): - If you are looking for an excellent nostalgic motel, this is a great one. It is very well maintained and in good condition. Enjoyed our stay!
- Linda (4/5): - It was OK
- Cheryl (10/5): - Very clean an nice. Lady at the desk was very helpful and nice
- Jeffrey (10/5): - A very nice vintage motel. We always stay here when in Richmond. Nice folks.
- Joshua (10/5): Great Value - It’s an older, but well kept motel. Super friendly staff, super clean, super easy in and out. Great value!
- Jamie (10/5): - Wonderful place for a quick stop! Very clean and comfortable. I loved the retro bathroom, it reminded me of my Grandma's. Le Ann was wonderful, check in was a breeze. I would highly recommend.
- Kaiser (10/5): - Never lets me down! Always clean, quiet, convenient, and friendly!
- Ronn (10/5): - Very clean and quiet.
- Kari (10/5): Great stay! - Our stay at the Golden motel in New Paris, in Ohio just on the border from Illinois. It was a very nice motel, dated, but the room was very nice. The atmosphere was peaceful, far enough away from the freeway to not hear traffic and with a nice green area in front, much to our dog Kompis’ delight. There were window boxes with flowers and hummingbird feeders placed around about next to flowers. Lea Ann was very helpful with personal messages and check-in instructions by text. Good stay.
- iris (10/5): Nice and clean place to stay - Nice place to spend a few days. The place is dated and puts you back in time, but it is all clean and well kept.
The wall unit is AC and heat, and it was a bit chili the first night until we knew how it works. The owner is very helpful, and it was a good stay.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely vintage style motel in a quiet location, but close enough to 70 for easy access. It was just like the kind of places I stayed in as a child on family road trips! Very clean and well kept. Lea Ann was thoughtful, with great communication. If ever back in the area, I would choose to stay here again in a heartbeat!
- Scott (10/5): Great convenient, quiet, efficient stay. - Really clean; very organized, well laid out, large room, great communication with front-desk - good got keycode ahead of time, and immediately got into room. Great for an overnight stay.
Only downside was mattress wasn't too comfortable - felt springs throughout.
- Dawn (10/5): - This was a nice place to stay the night. It’s an old facility, but the room was clean and comfortable. Quiet area just off I-70, but close to restaurants and retail. Today’s Harvest is a cute shop across the street with fresh donuts, homemade goodies and gifts. Friendly staff and affordable.
- Sue Watlov (10/5): - Beautiful setting with flowers and large green space and birds singing in AM and PM
- Verified traveler (10/5): Dog friendly hotel with retro vibes. - It was a quiet and pleasant stay for one night, as we were just passing through. It was very clean and the front desk was friendly and accommodating.
- Terry (10/5): - I really enjoyed my short stay. Staff were very kind and helped me with restaurant recommendations in the area. My room was clean and quiet.
- Maggie (10/5): - Charming roadside mom and pop motel with great personal attention.
- Brett (10/5): Basic, clean, comfortable, safe. - There are not too many places left like this… A little family owned motel…. very clean, comfortable, safe, and the staff was very nice to communicate with, almost like a guesthouse.
- Terri (10/5): - This was our second stay and the property was clean and the room is quiet. It’s nothing fancy but it’s clean, comfortable and the owner is very helpful and friendly. It’s only a short drive from
I-70 and no traffic like staying at a chain hotel near the highway.
- JAMES T. (10/5): - This was my fourth time staying there! Lea Ann at the desk is friendly and remembered me from my previous stays there. If you are looking for a simple roadside motel from days gone by, which has been well-maintained and managed, this is it. Just remember to bring food, snacks and coffee with you! Very quiet and comfortable room, convenient location right off I70.
- Kendra (10/5): One of the Best Places We Have Ever Stayed! - We enjoyed our stay so much, that we booked a second stay on our return trip back to Kansas. The room was spacious and clean. Check in was quick and efficient, and LeeAnn was extremely friendly. One of the only hotels we have stayed at that had enough towels and washclothes in the room for all four of us. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area!
- Kim (10/5): - Staff was very accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. I liked the retro motel vibe. Highly recommend.
- Jane (10/5): Mom and Pop. Friendly. - Nice mom and pop type motel. We were greeted with a smile. They were pet friendly. This was night one traveling from Va to Nebraska. Older motel, very clean and welcoming.
- Marilyn (8/5): - Vintage in style, classic in design … all immaculately kept. The staff was exceptionally accommodating and friendly
- Robert (10/5): - We were checking in late at night. They took care of everything so we could just arrive and crash. They even put a bucket of ice in our room for us. Best stay ever!
- William (8/5): - short distance from highway, easy on/off
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not a good night’s sleep - Quiet throwback motel. Very clean and safe (electronic locks). Needs new mattress and the shampoo packet was impossible to open.
- William (10/5): - Check in was easy, very friendly
- mary brown (10/5): - It is a wonderful old Time motel which is in excellent condition. It is locally owned and is very convenient to interstate 70 and too many restaurants nearby.
- kurt (10/5): our stay - reallly love this place very clean and nicely run
- John (10/5): - Very retro. The kind of place I used to stay with my folks growing up. Most of the amenities you'd expect in higher priced lodgings. No coffee or tea or breakfast included, but considering the extremely low price, you can afford to buy your own breakfast and coffee. Family owned and staff. Typical very friendly Midwest folks.
- James (10/5): A pleasant surprise! - Golden Inn, a quiet retro motel like the old days. Surrounded by fields and a farm fresh store across the road. We felt very safe there. Close by to any and all restaurants and stores.
- Rhonda (10/5): - Would stay again!!
- Barbara (6/5): - Property is dated a flash back from days gone by, but very clean with comfortable beds. Bathroom is very small and hard to maneuver in and out. Sink drain very slow. Staff was pleasant
- Kathy (8/5): - No fan in the bathroom and windows need replaced.
- Erika (8/5): - Enjoyed my stay!
