Providing ample opportunities for shopping and dinning. The hotel itself was well kept and very clean. We did have trouble getting into our room but the staff were quick to provide us a new room.

Flow of rooms, colour schemes that look cheap, wasted space in the bathrooms, TV's that didn't work (both rooms, so must be common) etc. What a wasted opportunity for Onomo, does their hotel team not use hotels?

- robertsM5164CR (8/5): Great small hotel next to the Mandela square and mall - Really good service as we arrived early in the morning 8 am and they prepared our room in about 30 mins. The hotel is small are the rooms but the location is perfect for the large mall and Mandela square with some great restaurants. The staff were excellent, I would recommend. It's also very safe.

- Michaelmas_AM (6/5): Mixed Feelings - This was my second stay at Onomo Hotel Johannesburg in a year. The location remains a strong plus — excellent proximity to Sandton Mall, making it very convenient for shopping and dining. The front office staff were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. This time, I booked the Executive Room, expecting an upgrade from the Standard Room I had previously. While the room was indeed positioned higher and felt slightly more premium, the bedding was unfortunately too small for two adults, which affected comfort. Breakfast was just okay nothing particularly memorable. Overall, while the location and service have their strengths, the comfort and value for the price didn’t meet my expectations this time. Will I be back? I’m not entirely sure.

- Trong (8/5): - It was very centrally located next to Mandela Square, easy walk from the Sandton Gautrain station. Lots of dining options in Mandela Square and Sandton City Mall, which are all connected.

- Rowan (4/5): Disappointing - Never had a good experience the last time I stayed but decided to give the hotel another try as the location is extremely convenient. Firstly on check-in the room did not match the description provided on hotels.com. The reception blamed hotels.com for advertising the wrong room descriptions.The hotel has super thin walls and was very noisy. I could here multiple doors slamming and people talking loudly from 330 am. Then as like the previous occasion a terrible drain smell came up from the shower from around 4am which was terrible. That ended my sleep for the night not ideal for a business trip. Unfortunately won't be back.

Cons: They do not tell you but they do not allow taxis( Uber/Bolt) to pick you up from the property, you have to walk a slight distance to be picked up. They require that you use their in-house transport which is way more expensive than the taxi.

Cost 600 rand. I said no thank toj and he said the uber could not stop in front the hotel. Uber is 189 rands to the airport. So we took our lugages and walked until the street to wait for the uber No kind! The staff is kind, except when we arrived early to the check in about 10 am and I asked to leave my small lugage and my back pack at rhe reception. The lady there was not so lkind . I said rhat I had glasses in my luggage and she put it in a way that will felll down. I took our lugage and went to rhe mall til 2pm, check in time iI lost.my morning with our luggages in a mall In fact, i dont recomend this hotel.

- jannekar (10/5): My FAV place near Mandela Square - I have stayed here before and it is my favorite small hotel with a perfect location next to Mandela Square. Friendly staff, nice simple relax breakfast restaurant and nice breakfast. Rooms are clean, well appointed and everything works as it should. They added a tea/coffe service in the room, and now I just hope they put a small refrigerator for the convenience of cold drinks etc. The reception staff are very nice and will go a long way to help you out. Miss PRETTY sorted out what I thought would be a drama without a problem. I also pointed out in my last review that it would be great with a family room for us that travel with a child. I be back soon again.

Staff was attentive & the included rather deluxe breakfast buffet was worth a leisurely visit. Location just a few safe steps to Mandela Square and mall with just about everything. Worked well for me.

Staff were very friendly and keen to assist, although they couldn't arrange our washing after three days of trying. Rooms are spacious enough, although not huge, but are clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was adequate but not fantastic. Easy access to the Gautrain, Sandton City and the Red bus tours.

Check-in was smooth, with welcoming and attentive staff. The room, while modern and well-maintained, was a bit on the snug side; perhaps higher room categories offer more space. Breakfast was a highlight, offering a range of tasty options to start the day. The hotel's location is ideal for both business and leisure travelers—just a 5-minute walk to the Sandton Gautrain station and literally across from Nelson Mandela Square/Mall. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

A fantastic location right next to the Nelson Mendala Mall which is huge. The staff are the so helpful AAA+++. My room 329 and 324 queen bed rooms were quiet and peaceful bed was soft for good sleep. Room has everything except no fridge. A huge thank you to Phumelele you were so polite and helpful. Your service was amazing, everything was always spotless 5 star service. To Lihle and Given you are very professional your service at reception and looking after the hotel is outstanding 5 star service to you both. Thank you for everything. Anything i needed you both dealt with on the spot, other hotels could learn alot from you both. Chef Thapelo's the Hamburger hash special was awesome, the food was always hot, fresh and delicious keep the specials coming. Your service was also 5 star always carrying a smile and making sure your guests were happy with the food and service.

I loved the Onomo Waterfront in Cape Town, for that reason I chose this one, but will probably not visit again. The location is wonderful. Please don't skimp on service, you have a gem here.
- jannekar (10/5): Greatest location for the best deal near Mandela Square - Great staff welcoming you. Rooms are on the small size but well planned and very clean. Everything worked perfectly during my 5 days stay with no complains at all. The breakfast was very good including egg, bacon, sausages as well as a sortiment of cheeses, cold cuts and vegetables. The Coffe was great and the possibility to order a cappuccino and other coffees are there. My only issue is that the rooms should have a hotwater kettle and the possibility to ask for small refrigerator for people that need to keep medicine etc cold. Also the hotel should have some rooms that are connected for us who travel with spouse and a child.
- Connector67763513467 (2/5): Disappointing costumer service - We had a very bad experience at Onomo hotel. We stayed there for one evening (which was not bad at all - good hotel). Unfortunately, we received a call from work that we had an emergency and had to be somewhere else the following day which resulted in cancelling our stay. Before I cancelled the stay, I asked what their refund policies were. They told me I had to organize for a mail to be sent from our HR office - which was done - in order to receive our refund. It has been a month later and we have not received a cent back after they PROMISED we would receive our refund.

My 2 night stay had been secured and paid in full online weeks before my arrival. My request for a change of dates was handled online but the hotel claimed that it was not received.
- B7530WEclaudiam (8/5): Great front desk assistance from Kgomotso - Absolutely great service by the lovely Kgomotso at reception. She was so funny, patient and attentive making sure to upgrade us to a more suitable room to avoid the noise of a function happening over the weekend at their parking area. Great assistance with some cooler box storage we needed and made sure to send a reminder on the day of our event which we needed it for.
- Aeronaut65 (6/5): Mixed bag - The hotel is now called the Onomo, and thats probably a good thing as there is not much "signature or lux" about it. Does not mean that it is a bad hotel, just call it a 3 star facility. The location is very good with the malls just around the corner. Premises are kept clean and most staff friendly and helpful. My room was small, standard lux!?, which does not have room for 2 suitcases, as a singletraveller I managed. Travelling two, would deffo create problems. Room looked new, comfy bed, kettle, tea&coffee, safe, aircon, tv. Not much storage space. No fridge! Wifi was good. Bathroom was of good size, waterpressure good and no problem with temperature. Towels changed daily and most days refill of shampoo & moisteurizer. Breakfast is served in the small cafe Aura, which can be pleasant if it is not too crowded, selection is not big, but you also have a choice from the menu. Service is a hit or miss, some staff are very guestoriented, some are not. I had one meal which was cold and not very tasty. Coffee & cold drinks were good. For a few nights I would recommend the Onomo.

- MattD839 (8/5): Great location. - The location is fantastic, 10/10 stars, just a few minutes walk from the gautrain which made getting to the hotel from the airport a breeze. It is very close to lots of shopping and restaurants. The staff are helpful and friendly and make the place seem warm and inviting. The room was small but suited our needs. It was quiet and had an airconditioning unit. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were lovely and soft. The shower was a let down. The temperature seemed to have a mind of its own and it was impossible to get the right temperature. The included breakfast at a nearby cafe was delicious with plenty of options. Overall, our stay was enjoyable and we would happily stay again. They are currently renovating (not that it interrupted our stay or caused any inconvenience) and I’m excited to see what the improvements look like.

What was more interesting was that the BELL BOY was more friendly then other staff’s. The bathroom in the room is terrible, it takes 15 to 30 minutes for the hot and cold water to mix up in the shower. We were told that we had a Buffet break fast along with our booking. But what we were offered is a very Simple Enligh Breakfast which was un worthy. The staff at the Restaurant were rude and not helpful. We asked for Vegan Breakfast and we were not treated well. Not only did it sound like someone was using a jack hammer next door, several requests to reduce the disturbance fell into deaf ears. Infact we went to the extent of requesting for a change of room, which finally didn’t happen…
- Charlene (4/5): Disappointed:-( - I have stayed in Signature Lux many times. It used to be a pleasure, quick check-in, clean rooms and great location. My last stay did not live up to my expectations. Problems checking in, little to no help from frontdesk, even though my booking was paid in full. After spending 35 min on hold with hotels.com, it was finally sorted out. Room was not clean. Toilet lid was very dirty, not to mention the dust and filth under the bed. This was always my Sandton hotel of choice, but not again.

- Paul (6/5): Saved by the cafe - So firstly I don't normally stay in this type of accommodation. I normally reside in cheaper guesthouses and similar. Then again it counts as budget compared to the other places in the area. Its a generic hotel chain. Clean, secure, boring - which is probably what you want in this part of South Africa. All the rooms are identical. I know because a non draining shower tray flooded the first one. The attached cafe which does your breakfasts and will do other food during the day is excellent. Good range on offer.

The hotel staff were also not able to give me an alternative safe means of transport. Not so convenient when you have a lot of luggage.

- frank (10/5): Don't stay anywhere else - This is the place to stay. Sandton is arguably the safest and most upmarket area of Johannesberg. This hotel is excellent with very good staff and is just a few hundred yards from the Gautrain station. Adjacent to the hotel is a huge shopping mall with every kind of shop you would want. I recommend you select the slightly larger room rather than the smallest one.

- jian (4/5): Noisy!! - Very noisy room, I can hear the conversations next door. Everyday in the early morning around 7 am got disturbed by the cleaning ladies. My room door even shakes when the neighbors open or close theirs. During my stay, i woke up many times every night. Uber is not allowed to pick me up at the front door so i have to walk a long distance to meet the driver.
