• Claude (8/5): Ryokan adapté au ski - Proximité immédiate avec les pistes de ski, avec la possibilité de louer le matériel et de prendre le forfait de ski à un tarif préférentiel. L’esprit Ryokan avec le Onsen présent au sein de l’établissement réservé aux clients. La salle de bain de la chambre.

• Angie (9/5): Great place to enjoy Nozawa Onsen ski holiday. - The ski in and out location was great. Beginner skiers had no trouble accessing the hotel as a beginners run goes straight past the front door. The staff were all friendly and spoke English (far better than our attempts to speak Japanese) The onsen was peaceful and relaxing. But the standout was the food. Amazing. Because the lodge is hard to access after 4pm we took other reviewers advice and had the dinner and breakfast package. The meals were wonderful. Beautifully prepared and presented, and the Japanese wine we tried was great. The beds and pillows were very hard, but that’s the norm in Japan. If you would like to try the night life in Nozawa Onsen, this would possibly be a little difficult as the walkway gets closed at 4.40pm.

• Andrew (9/5): Great ski lodge with awesome Onsen - Great location on the slopes. Staff were very organised and helpful. Japanese meals were excellent. Onsen was great after a days skiing. Couldn’t ask for anything more. We walked into Nozawa on several occasions, using Yu Road when available. Took us about 10 mins there and 15-20 minutes back. Not as hard as we thought, but will be a consideration for some.

• Danny (10/5): Incredible. Best Lodge in Nozawaonsen. Ski In / Ski Out, Onsen & Rental + Lift Pass!! Food is a must - Ski in / Ski Out, Onsen is awesome & hot tub outside! Rental and Lift Pass collection available at Hotel, Baggage Service from main town to Hotel, Travellator to get up from town (but shuts at 4.30pm!) Travellator shuts at 4.30pm to town so approx 25 min walk into village if you want to go down... we did once and it was OK but honestly once you've been skiing for 8 hours - a night in the onsen & hot tub is equally as welcome!
• Bradtberg (9/5): Our stay was awesome. We are already planning to go back! - Breakfast was excellent. Dinners (recommend doing the half board to include this) were outstanding. The location was right on the slopes. Nice onsen. Staff were fantastic.
• Mark (8/5): It met our expectations. - Location was excellent for ski in ski out. Staff were very friendly and curteous. Evening meals were very good. On site ski rentals were perfect. We had the western breakfast. Could be improved with the addiion of eg muesli/yoghurt

They were so accommodating when my husband and I asked for a late check-out but wanted access to some of the facilities until the early afternoon. The on-site ski rental is excellent, as is the ski in and ski out option. Additionally, the onsite onsen is a relaxing haven. We also really enjoyed the food, which is great value (especially dinner!). It was quite a long walk back in the evenings, if you want to check out the town (which is buzzing!). On the night of the fire festival there was a coach option back to Denbey, which was amazing; if it might be possible to make that a weekly or bi-weekly option that might help people plan which evenings to check out the town and which to take advantage of the peaceful and comfortable facilities at Denbey instead.

• Casey (10/5): Amazing - Overall the best place we have stayed in Japan. The food was incredible and really well prepared. The staff were kind, welcoming and helpful. The onsen was amazing and didn’t mind they we had tattoos which was really nice and didn’t feel awkward about it. It gave a really nice family vibe however was also an exceptional well run lodge. Will 100% come back again, we keep comparing it the other places we have been and nothing compares.

• Fred (8/5): Excellent place to stay if you want to be the first one on the hill each day - Very close to the ski lifts. The onsen was awesome. The staff were very kind and attentive The breakfast was ok but would have been good to have more variety to choose from or changing up the set menu every couple of days
• Adriana (9/5): Perfect for our family of 4, would definitely stay here again!! - Breakfast included was yummy and filling. Loved having an onsen on site, perfect after a day on the slopes. Our room was spacious, plenty of space for my family and all of our luggage. Lots of storage closets in the room as well. For reference, we stayed in a Log Cabin room. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Dinner (not included in room rate but highly recommend you eat dinner here at least once) was amazing, so many courses and very affordable. Rental gear and lift tickets are available at the hotel. This place is full service for everything you need for a trip to the slopes! For us, this was not a con but it may be for others. This is a ski-in and out hotel on the slopes, so that means to get to the village you have to walk about 20 - 25 minutes. My family didn't mind, and we walked to dinner 2 nights that we stayed. Others may not enjoy that but the dinner at the hotel is great, just make sure you reserve a table the day before.
• Rachel (10/5): A holiday on the slopes with so many extras - The location- ski in ski out is fantastic. No walking from town in ski boots! Hotel Denbey has everything- discounted lift tickets (cash only), ski hire (really good quality) and a beautiful onsen at the end of a day on the slopes. The dinner meals are absolutely fine dining- exceptional local produce and the chef caters to any dietary needs. This really has it all with friendly staff and easy pick up of luggage from near the bus stop. We’ll be back! The western room was a bit small and dated, but the positives out weigh this.

• Hala (8/5): Very good - Very attentive staff The main difficulty is getting to and from the lodge . As it is not in the village it can be difficult to find if you have never been there before. However the staff are vey good at transporting the luggage from their depot near the bus station to the lodge
• Julia (8/5): Fantastic family snowboarding holiday. - Fantastic location, delicious food, big onsite Onsen and lovely helpful staff. The room was new and very clean, and we loved meeting other guests in the lounge after dinner. The manager Tak went out of his way to help us, even posting an item our son left behind to our next location. The lack of clothes storage in the room and the cold temperature in the common areas.
