The room was spacious and impeccably clean, the staff was super friendly and helpful most especially Noxolo, and the amenities were top-notch. They even made my birthday extra special with some wonderful surprises, Noxolo, Nompumelelo, and others thank you for making it a memorable stay! I'd definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay! 😊

- npercy69 (10/5): Memorable experience - This place is heaven on earth. It is breath taking , very beautiful, wonderful land scaping and oh my my when i woke up in the morning i was facing a beautiful mountain with a couple of monkeys.
- chanellekyle (8/5): Overnight Stay - The hotel is beautiful and well-kept and when you enter, the fragrance is very welcoming in the lobby. The staff are friendly, and the rooms are beautiful. White linen on a King-Sized bed makes you want to hop in as soon as you walk in, but not before having a swim in the tub. The accommodation was great and left nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, while the menu gives more options than you could hope to see, the portion I was given was small for the price you pay. I ordered an extra side and still left the table thinking that I could eat more and I am a petite lady. The food was tasty.

We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great stay as couple and there is no network that is perfect for couple no disturbance from the world only the 2 of us
- peter (10/5): Enjoyable stay. - This modern hotel with lovely rooms was great for our 2 night stay. Breakfast each morning was really nice and we ate in the restaurant both evenings which was also lovely. Our first night we were disappointed that the fillet steak on the menu wasn't available and mentioned this to the restaurant manager, who said he'd take care of it and true to his word, the next evening it was available. It was delicious, cooked to perfection. The pool for a hotel this size we felt was maybe a little too small and unfortunately the road to the property is in a poor state of repair which means it's a 30 minute drive from Newcastle itself but because the hotel restaurant was so good, this didn't really impact our stay as we didn't really leave the hotel. We also enjoyed 2 fabulous massages at the hotel spa which we felt were very reasonably priced. Lastly, there are gorgeous views from the property. Overall, we would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

- Portia (8/5): - It's a beautiful hotel, gorgeous grounds and stunning views. The staff was very warm and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and we loved the beds. Our room needed the floors cleaned again as they had sticky residue by the bed and seating area. We had three rooms and the bathrooms were beautiful but they had a foul smell coming from the drains which made the rooms smell bad. We ordered room service for dinner on two nights and the service was really slow. The wings were good but the steaks were terrible both nights. The 19 km road leading to the hotel/resort was the MOST TERRIBLE road I've had the displeasure to drive on; rough road and large potholes everywhere. I've never been so shaken in all my life. Such a shame for such a beautiful place.

Just the road leading to Vulintaba is truly unpleasant with severe potholes and if a first time traveller with a low vehicle it is challenging and worse at night.
- sikhumbuzobulose (10/5): ANEW Resort Vulintaba Newcastle - I was blown away by the hotel view because it is situated in front of the Drakensberg Mountains. I never could have imagined that I would have such an experience in my life, as I assumed my recollections of the Drakensberg Mountains would be limited to geography textbooks. My lived-in experience was wonderful since my room overlooked the mesmerising Drakensberg Mountains, and it's a vista that can never be replicated a billion times; I'm still in awe of this gorgeous experience. I believe there is an opportunity for development if the hotel invests in hiring more staff members, such as waiters, cleaners, and frontline employees. Invest in new couches and trash bins throughout the property. When a hotel is understaffed, it sometimes compromises the hotel's service levels because staff members are overburdened with too much work, forcing them to multiskill in order to keep the hotel's reputation intact. While the multiskilling is much appreciated by me, as the client, but it can also jeopardises the overall health well-being of employees, as we still want your employees to serve us with a smile. I can never fault the ANEW Resort Vulintaba Newcastle for any incompetence; despite your challenges and being short staffed, you made sure my stay was a worthwhile experience, and I will definitely return because the view captivated my imagination to an overdrive creative experience and blown away my stay, and I like the fact that I was able to rest peacefully in the evening and some other time in between because it is in a reclusive and remote area. May you keep up the good work, and serve with joyful pride and represent your brand with utmost decorum as you have done, your hospitality from frontline staff members trickling up to management can never go unnoticed, and you made my stay at the hotel to be fantastic and spectacular, as you went the extra mile to ensure my stay was one of warmth and wonderful, stay blessed! - mathias0603 (2/5): Do not go there !! - This was probably one of the worst hotels we have ever visited. We are travelling a lot and have a lot of Hotel experience in South Africa and all over the world to compare with. My girlfriend and i are both working in the Hotel department so we do have some knowledge about the process. We have been visiting Anewa Resort Vulintaba Newcastle as a small stop over while traveling from Pongola Nature reserve to Johannesburg. Our aim was to get some rest an enjoy the Spa which was advertised by the Hotel. First of all the road towards the hotel is terrible. Potholes everywhere and you habe to fear that your tires wont make it. Arrived at the Hotel we directly asked the receptionist if he could organize a spa treatment for us. Unfortunately they did not have a masseuse at the Hotel and the only way for him to contact her was via Whatsapp. As he did not reach her on the phone he gave me her number and said that i should please contact her by my own because his shift is over now and he is leaving. After we habe had some beers at the closely golf restaurant to calm down ( who have been extremely friendly and had some very good french fries ) we went back to the hotel. The bathroom is open and you can hear everything your partner is doing there. Regarding the dinner we have been frustrated as well. When we arrived their tables and floor where still completely dirty from the Lunch. The service was slow, inattentive and after some very long waiting times, they brought us the meals but forgot that i ordered without tomato. Our starter was served at the same time as the Main course and to get another drink we needed to wait almost 30 minutes after our glasses have been empty. The crowning glory of the whole evening was that there were still bones from the chicken in my club sandwich. To finish off our horrible stay we have been woken up by some wind because the doors towards the terrace could not be closed completely. Loud noises came thru so that we woke up at 04:30 in the morning. If we would not have been awake already the houskeeping gave the rest to it because they have been knocking our door at 07:30 so that they can clean the room. All in all we really regret this stay and should have gone directly to Joburg.

- asebok627422 (6/5): A few minor details - The resort is located in a beautiful area 20km from Newcastle. We were there mostly for a relaxing break so didn't do any activities, but were able to get spatreatments. The staff doing the spa were very friendly and it was agreat experience. The room was spacious, and the bathroom had both a shower and tub. The only complaints we have is that on the website it still says it's 5km instead of 20km from Newcastle, and unfortunately the food did not meet our expectation. The meat was very chewy, and everything on the breakfast bufett was very dry. Please also update the website regarding parking. It says no parking, but there is.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - I had a beautiful stay. the hotel is in a beautiful setting. It was lovely and peaceful. I just had an issue at checking and getting to my room my pillows were dirty. Romeo did manage to get me new ones and I was good. The waitress at dinner did seem a little inexperienced or just not very friendly. I am lactose intolerant so I had hoped a hotel of this standard would at least have some almond milk to have with my coffee. this was a similar issue at Anew Greenpoint in Nov 22. Took a walk around the property and was a little disappointed with some of the "empty" rooms/ offices with rubbish in them. didn't make for a good look for a hotel of your standing. A slight plumbing smell in the bathroom and shower not thoroughly cleaned so had to use my rubber slops to get in. no plugs by the beds is not ideal for me. a stronger WIFI would be great too. Overall, a beautiful hotel just needs a bit of TLC in some areas and it would make it must stop on this route.

No key for sliding door in room on arrival.

Service is a bit slow, and they did forget utensils with breakfast (room service). Our waitress at dinner did her utmost best to keep us updated on food progress and checking in ons us. Food was delicious and being able to see the wine selection is great. The views are definitely worth the stay.

- Wouda (6/5): IT WAS OK - The Hotel is very big and the ambiance is very cold, but very clean. Staff can work on their manners. When we checked in, the lady did not even ask if they can help carry our bags for us, we did it by our self. When we checked out the lady did not even ask, how our stay was? Not a smile nothing..... they can really work on their friendliness. The spa and the lady's that work there is fabulous. Good treatments very clean and friendly 10/10 lady's, thank you very relaxed! The food, oh my goodness, never tasted food that bad. The breakfast is very bad. No spoons to dish up, no proper pastries(no croissants etc.) just dry muffins that is really not tasty. In the fruit bowl we saw paw paw skin inside. The cheese was grated but there was a bunch of whole chunks in it as well. The bacon was not tasty at all, I left mine untouched! The evening we ordered steaks... the steak was good but the chips with that was terrible! No carnish the plate was like dead! The cheesecake was still frozen in the middle, bad! The 2nd night we decided to go and eat at Tormonto's in New Castle, what an experience! The food was out of this world, well done! Please can Vilantaba kitchen chef and staff go and learn how to serve and make proper food, really this is very negative to the hotel! Tip: The club house has better food than the hotel and the service is better also!

- Rashik (10/5): Breathtaking and beautiful. - The restaurant service really needs some improvement. It seems like there were weddi gs that weekend but only 2 waiters at dinner on sunday night. The spa was amazing the 3 ladies are so good. I will definitely go back to the spa. Vulintaba is a really peaceful beautiful place. There are amazing views from the bedroom.
- Sibongile (8/5): - Traveled with a baby and spending 2 nights which meant i needed to wash and sterilize bottles. I could pick up the discomfort from the staff as i made this request and actually overheard the manager saying thats his first request. I chose to ignore him as he was not speaking to me directly. If there was a microwave available im sure we couldn't have made such a request. Hotel needs to be open minded to such especially when they say they are family friendly. Besides that we requested for a family room which we were told we will only get it on the 2nd night. Ended up getting 2 rooms next to each other which was not to bad. Generally enjoyed our stay.

- Victor (8/5): Weekend of Thunder Storms - The hotel is very secluded perched high up against the Drakensberg mountains making it a perfect destination for a retreat weekend. My stay was very enjoyable and a good breakfast except for s few ours of power failure on both nights after the thunderstorms. I will try out the hotel again over winter months.

Three things need to be improved: 1) Welcoming guests is poor and there’s no sign for reception area. 2) No one assist to carry the bags since the entrance to reception is far from parking 3) During breakfast no one or poor monitoring table and cutlery whether are still in order.
