• Susan (8/5): Gorgeous idyllic house on the beach. - Super house on the beach at the quiet end of Plettenberg Bay. Gorgeous big room no 6.with a Veranda by the pool. Comfy bed. Helpful staff. Pretty garden, idyllic position. Use of coffee machine and an honesty bar in a lovely sitting room. The whole house beautifully decorated. No air con. Uncomfortable clanky iron tables and chairs in the breakfast area. Breakfast not great, so many bakery’s around, perhaps croissants or delicious bread would have been nice, poor fruit salad and the yogurt not live. The cooked breakfast was fine. Just if you’re health conscious…..?

• SUSAN (7/5): - The property is on the beach and in a save area to walk, run or cycle. The room was very small and no privacy. If you open your door it is in the walking area to the kitchen. The linen is old and the bathrooms need a do over.

• Deon (9/5): Great weekend away. - Really lovely little guest house! Super friendly staff and a great breakfast. It’s nice and quiet, with a short +/- 100m walk through the garden on a boardwalk to the beach. It was a bit cold when we visited, but the pool still looked super inviting. It’s just outside the main town, which is great for avoiding the crowds — just make sure you’ve got a car to get around. I really can't fault the guest house. If I had to complain about anything it would have to be the weather which can change on a dime, but that's more down to the time of year that we visited.

Offer to source gluten free products was appreciated The shared seating area was little cramped and could do with some decluttering. There's a lovely patio seating area available to all guests It was right outside our room so it was a little noisy and we lacked some privacy.

Although we did not have a sea view room, we could hear the ocean in our room, which was lovely. All the staff working at the guesthouse was super friendly - especially Wendy! She showed genuine interest and helped by providing valuable recommendations to us as first-time Plett visitors ;) Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Therefore, you are unable to sleep in a bit as it's very noisy when breakfast is being prepared from the early hours of the morning. I'm sure the other rooms are great though.

• Wim (5/5): Small overpriced room - Southern Cross Beach House is a guesthouse in Plettenberg Bay near the sea. There is a coffee-/tea machine and fridge in the restaurant that you can use. Wifi works reasonably well. You cannot park your car next to your room, but staff will assist you with your luggage.The parking area is locked with an automatic gate. In sum, it is not too bad, but seriously overpriced. The rooms are tastefully decorated, but the one we had was very small with little space for luggage and moving around (10 m2). The beds are quite small too. The rooms have the usual facilities, but no airco. The windows cannot be opened, so this might be a problem with hot days. One room is next to the restaurant, which leads to a lack of privacy, as everything is quite cramped together. Breakfast is a bit sparse and inconsistent (one day there was no cheese) and only starts at 8:30. Staff is not friendly and not keen to make guests feel at home. There are two big dogs running around the property, and also in the restaurant, when one is eating, which did not impress us in terms of hygiene.

Freshly prepared breakfast from Wendy (the manager) with crepes and full english breakfast available. Warm welcome and easy check-in. On some mornings it took 5 minutes until the water in the shower got warm.

The facilities are superb, from location on the beach, swimming pool to the room and the fresh cooked breakfast, but it is the staff that make the place! Although we love animals, we didnt enjoy them around our table whilst eating and the dogs also went for my husband when he went to get something from his car later in the evening. I think they should just take care about that. DSTV did not have sport channels

Great location close to the beach, even though the room does not have a view of the sea. Great friendly host. The room does not have a private outdoor area and can get a bit small if you are planning on not just sleeping in the room, but great for an over night accommodation.

Breakfast was very good, and also we got it bit earlier due to early plans, which was extremely nice :) The common areas were inviting: ocean view, swimming pool, beautiful garden and breakfast area. There is a path to the beach straight from the property. We also got a very good recommendation for a restaurant for dinner.

• Jacqueline (5/5): Didn’t quite live up to expectations compared with our previous stay. - Position and welcoming staff. Geared very much for summer and not enough provision made for cold, wet days. There was an electric blanket but no other form of heating. Appreciate we have the problem with loadshedding but there are ways of getting round it. A good heated towel rail in the bathroom would have helped. We stayed here about a few years ago and could not find fault with anything. Felt this time that it was a little ‘tired’. Some maintenance needed. The toilet didn’t flush well - problem with the handle.

• Irina (10/5): Exceptional - Words cannot describe how wonderful our stay was at the Southern Cross Beach House: our warm and generous host Wendy gave us a very much appreciated upgrade upon arrival, room 6 is stunning, spacious and very private. The bed is very comfortable and the room is very clean. The house is ideally located with an easy boardwalk to the long sandy beach and view of the Robberg nature reserve and Tsisikama mountains. The excellent breakfast served on the terrace with the view of the mountains coocked by Wendy and her team was delicious. If you are lucky, one or both of the two resident dogs will grace you with their presence. We had a very special stay (thank you, Wendy, for great and funny conversations), and we certainly will be back.

The view of the beach was just incredible and the access to it was amazing too. We felt very comfortable and really enjoyed playing with the owners two dogs Marley and Summer. It was great having the fridge stocked with soft drinks plus beer and wine ( honestly bar) and complimentary tea and coffee. Wendy the manager knows the area really well and can suggest many different restaurants and places to see. Everything was wonderful so nothing negative to say at all😊

The staff were so friendly, helpful , lovely dogs, situated in a perfect location overlooking the ocean, the owners have decorated it in a lovely, happy way. Brekky was delicious, wendy welcomed us with all the info we needed etc, so kind. Lovely pool to cool off in. There was nothing I could fault. Even going above and beyond the call with kindness and bin liners ! (Don’t ask). I really really hope to return to be able to sit and enjoy the B and B again. Nothing
